California voters will face two sports betting propositions on the ballot this fall.

  • California voters will face two propositions on the ballot relating to sports betting this fall.
  • Proposition 26 is aimed at in-person betting on tribal lands, while Proposition 27 is focused on online gaming.
  • The former is favored by dozens of Native American tribes, while the latter is supported by big-name companies.

Sports gambling is popping up on the California ballot not once, but twice, this November.

Propositions 26 and 27, which have both crowded California's airwaves, have seen donations amounting to $ 357 million from casinos, Native American tribes, Major League Baseball, and other interested parties. They have the potential to turn California into the globe's second-highest sports gambling market, just behind the UK.

Prop 26 is sponsored by Native American tribes, such as Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, and would legalize in-person gambling — including roulette and dice games — on tribal lands and racetracks, according to the state's Legislative Analyst Office. The nonpartisan office provides fiscal and policy advice to the state legislature.

Prop 27 is sponsored by gaming companies including FanDuel and DraftKings, and would legalize online sports betting across the state, according to the office. The MLB is also a proponent of the measure.

If both measures were passed together, it could bring the state up to $ 3.4 billion annually, according to CalMatters. But if both passed, one measure may bring the matter to a court accusing the other of a conflict.

Funds earned via Prop 26 would initially go to schools and the remainder to California's discretionary fund, mental health research, and gambling rules. Prop 27's revenue would be allocated to provide resources to address homelessness, mental health issues, and addiction.

More than 60 tribes oppose Prop 27, saying it would take away from their business, KFSN reported. But at least three smaller tribes support the measure believing the gaming would actually double their annual income.

Roughly 80 tribal casinos reside in California bringing in more than 8 billion in revenue annually to the state, Calmatters reported. There are about 110 federally recognized tribes, per California Courts. This means that not all tribes benefit from gambling revenue, which proves to be a vital economic resource for some.

The ABC affiliate says that Republicans in the state are against both measures, while the Democrats are against Prop 27 and "neutral on Prop 26."

"I know initiatives and folks will say anything. Perhaps that initiative will provide a few dollars," Newsom told KFSN. "I'm not supporting or opposing it, I haven't given it a lot of thought, but it is not a homeless initiative. I know Angelenos can read between the lines and they know better."

More than 30 states have legalized online sports betting since a 2018 Supreme Court ruling that reversed a 1992 law prohibiting most states from the act, CBS Sports reported. California is the only state with a similar measure on the ballot this fall.

California's voters will decide on the measures on November 8.

Justice League Dark Series in the Works at HBO Max, From J.J. Abrams https://briefnews.eu/justice-league-dark-series-in-the-works-at-hbo-max-from-j-j-abrams/ https://briefnews.eu/justice-league-dark-series-in-the-works-at-hbo-max-from-j-j-abrams/#respond Thu, 16 Apr 2020 21:24:17 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/justice-league-dark-series-in-the-works-at-hbo-max-from-j-j-abrams/

It looks like the Green Lanterns will have some super friends over at HBO Max.

Five months after it was announced that Greg Berlanti was series based on characters from the iconic Green Lantern comic, HBO Max has made a production commitment to “a major series based on DC characters in the Justice League Dark Universe — one of three new projects for the upcoming streamer from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot shingle.

No further details were shared.

The other Bad Robot orders include a horror-thriller series inspired by and featuring iconic characters from Stephen King’s The Shining.

“What an amazing start to our association with the wildly imaginative Bad Robot team under J.J. and Katie,” HBO Max CCO Kevin Reilly said in a statement. “What could be better than an original J.J. idea and then Warner Bros. letting them loose on iconic I.P. from Stephen King and the DC Universe and to provide more must-have programming on HBO Max.”

Berlanti’s aforementioned Green Lantern series was still “in the early stages” as of January, TVLine previously reported, and “is going to span several decades and focus on the origin story of two major Green Lanterns on Earth while going into the story in space and Green Lantern favorite character Sinestro.”

With the potential for goals and assists, Suarez could be considered a steal at just £6.5million in FPL.

Meanwhile, there is even better value to be found at St James’ Park after Newcastle shattered their club transfer record for Miguel Almiron.

and will also be a big boost for those managers owning striker Salomon Rondon.

Priced at just £6m, Almiron could be a huge differential in the second half of the campaign – but how much do other January arrivals cost in FPL?

DEF: Chris Mepham (Bournemouth) – £4.5m

DEF: Leandro Bacuna (Cardiff City) – £4.5m

DEF: Antonio Barreca (Newcastle United) – £4.5m

Neymar ruled OUT of BOTH legs of Man Utd Champions League clash with foot injury https://briefnews.eu/neymar-ruled-out-of-both-legs-of-man-utd-champions-league-clash-with-foot-injury/ https://briefnews.eu/neymar-ruled-out-of-both-legs-of-man-utd-champions-league-clash-with-foot-injury/#respond Mon, 28 Jan 2019 17:21:25 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/neymar-ruled-out-of-both-legs-of-man-utd-champions-league-clash-with-foot-injury/

French newspaper l’Equipe say Neymar has been ruled out until the end of March with a foot injury picked up in last week’s Coupe de France clash with Strasbourg.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel had admitted this weekend it would be “very difficult” for Neymar to be able to face Manchester United.

The Ligue 1 leaders swept aside Rennes 4-1 at the Parc des Princes on Sunday night, with Edinson Cavani scoring twice.

However, the absence of their Brazilian star was again under the spotlight after suffered a recurrence of a foot issue

According to Le Parisien, X-rays have shown a fracture line on the fifth metatarsal which the Brazil forward had an operation on last year.

Tuchel maintained there had not yet been a full diagnosis, but accepted Neymar would most likely be ruled out of contention for the first leg of their last-16 European tie at Old Trafford on February 12.

“It’s going to be very difficult, that is clear,” the PSG coach told reporters following Sunday night’s win, according to L’Equipe.

“I do not have confirmation of a new diagnosis.

“As I explained yesterday (Saturday), it’s too early to talk about a return date.

“We have to wait for the first week, which is very important, and its reaction to treatment. Only after that can we be more precise, but it’s going to be very difficult (for the United match). It is not a secret.”

PSG have yet to complete the signing of midfielder Leandro Paredes from Zenit St Petersburg.

The PSG coach joked: “I’ve been waiting for a few days, but he’s not here. I looked for him in the showers, in the cloakroom, in the physio room, with the goalkeepers, but he is not there.”

Tuchel, though, accepted the clock was ticking on the potential big-money move.

“Everyone told me, ‘it is done’, but he’s not here,” the German added at a press conference.

“It’s the 27th (of January) and I’m worried. We’re running out of time.

“We’ve been waiting for Leandro for a few days and he’s not here. He’s not in the locker room and that’s the reality.”

Unbeaten PSG have two matches in hand on second-placed Lille, who they lead by 13 points.

Rennes had gone into the break on level terms after equalising after 28 minutes through a clever backheel from M’Baye Niang.

However, the visitors were overrun as PSG scored three goals in the space of 11 second-half minutes after the hour mark.

Rennes coach Julien Stephan said afterwards: “We have more than competed, especially in the first half.

“We did not want to suffer in possession and made an excellent first half, both collectively in the use of the ball and defensive in the control of space.

“However, we knew that to get a result here, it was necessary to make a perfect match and a perfect match lasts 90 minutes. Unfortunately, after the hour of play, the two goals conceded were a blow and the regrets come from that.”

Emiliano Sala: Cardiff chief reveals Premier League have rejected transfer request https://briefnews.eu/emiliano-sala-cardiff-chief-reveals-premier-league-have-rejected-transfer-request/ https://briefnews.eu/emiliano-sala-cardiff-chief-reveals-premier-league-have-rejected-transfer-request/#respond Thu, 24 Jan 2019 15:47:29 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/emiliano-sala-cardiff-chief-reveals-premier-league-have-rejected-transfer-request/

Cardiff’s club-record £15million signing has been missing since Monday evening.

The plane carrying Sala disappeared when flying over the English channel with the striker on his way to link up with his Cardiff team-mates.

Thorough searches continued on Thursday, however, police are still no closer to confirming what happened.

Cardiff were hoping their record signing from Nantes would keep them in the Premier League this season.

And while Choo admits all of Cardiff’s thoughts are with Sala, the Blue Birds chief says the club must plan ahead.

Cardiff attempted to extend their transfer window following Sala’s disappearance, however, the Premier League rejected their proposal.

“From the club’s perspective we are managing this situation now but we have another department that has to continue looking at the transfers,” Choo told talkSPORT.

“It’s really difficult physically, emotionally and mentally to try and cope in a situation like this.

“We have to segregate our mind into looking for Emiliano, helping the family and provide our best care for the family by giving them the information they want, which is totally factual.

“And then we are still running a business which continues, and we still have to meet the transfer deadline.

“I have spoken to the Premier League, I have spoken with (managing director) Richard Masters and the Premier League executives yesterday.

“I said how tough it is for us to cope, given that there is eight days to go and we’ve been watching Emiliano for months and we finally got it over the line and then…

“There are eight days to go and we don’t really know how to cope with this scenario. But we have to meet the deadline. The bottom line from the Premier League is we have to meet the deadline like anybody else.”

Guernsey Police have conducted the search for Sala and pilot David Ibbotson on board the missing aircraft.

They have confirmed they will continue to search on Thursday, with police also investigating the island of Burhou for traces of the plane.

Guernsey Police said: “The search is ongoing and a decision about continuing will be made once all assets have completed this morning’s search pattern.

“The island of Burhou has been searched by foot. No trace of the aircraft or those on board has been found.

“Further information will be released once it is available.”

The plane carrying Sala had been flying at 5,000 feet but was at 2,300 when Jersey air traffic controllers lost contact.

A stunning WhatsApp voice message from Sala has since emerged following his disappearance, where the 28-year-old told his friends he was scared to board ‘a plane that seems like it is falling to pieces’.

Sala said: “Hello, little brothers, how are you crazy people?

“Brother, I’m dead, I was here in Nantes doing things, things, things, things and things, and it never stops, it never stops, it never stops.

“I’m here on a plane that looks like it’s about to fall apart, and I’m going to Cardiff, crazy, tomorrow we already start, and in the afternoon we start training, boys, in my new team…

“Let’s see what happens, so, how are you brothers and sisters, all right?

“If in an hour and a half you have no news from me, I don’t know if they are going to send someone to look for me because they cannot find me, but you know … Dad, how scared am I!”

Possible omen of NHL work stoppage as league, players' association abandon World Cup in 2020 https://briefnews.eu/possible-omen-of-nhl-work-stoppage-as-league-players-association-abandon-world-cup-in-2020/ https://briefnews.eu/possible-omen-of-nhl-work-stoppage-as-league-players-association-abandon-world-cup-in-2020/#respond Thu, 17 Jan 2019 01:23:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/possible-omen-of-nhl-work-stoppage-as-league-players-association-abandon-world-cup-in-2020/

The NHL and NHL Players' Association have given up on the possibility of staging the next World Cup of Hockey in September 2020 but will continue collective bargaining talks.

In separate statements released Wednesday, the league and NHLPA announced that there's not enough time to put together a World Cup in roughly 20 months. The sides met earlier in the day in Toronto to discuss the World Cup as part of collective bargaining talks after holding an informal meeting in Las Vegas on Jan. 10 that lasted more than two hours.

Not holding the World Cup in September 2020 is consequential because it was so closely linked to the potential of labour peace in hockey. But the NHL and NHLPA plan to meet again soon with the goal of avoiding a potential work stoppage. A lockout wiped out the 2004-05 season; another lasted more than three months in 2012-13.

The current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) runs until 2022, but either owners or players could choose this September to opt out and end it Sept. 15, 2020. Players' escrow payments and Olympic participation are significant issues that must be overcome to avoid either side re-opening the CBA.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, right, and NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr, pictured at the 2015 announcement of the 2016 World Cup tournament, agreed Wednesday that there would be no 2020 edition. (Gene J. Puskar/Associated Press)

The league's deputy commissioner, Bill Daly, told The Associated Press last week he believed there was a commitment by both sides to continue talking and "see if we can move forward on something that might work for a CBA extension."

"While the parties have now joined the concluded that it is no longer realistic to try to schedule a World Cup of Hockey for the fall of 2020, they plan to continue their dialogue with the hope of being able to schedule the next World Cup event as part of a broader agreement, which would include a long-term international event calendar," the NHL said in a statement.

Brad Marchand's shorthanded goal with 44 seconds remaining was the game winner 0:36

The 2016 World Cup of Hockey generated revenue that was split evenly among owners and players, and the goal is to keep that event going with another edition at a time later than September 2020.

"The players are focused on finding the proper time to schedule the World Cup of Hockey within the context of an overall international hockey calendar," the NHLPA said in a statement. "We look forward to continuing our discussions with the league."

Premier League transfer news: Deals to be announced TODAY? Chelsea, Liverpool included https://briefnews.eu/premier-league-transfer-news-deals-to-be-announced-today-chelsea-liverpool-included/ https://briefnews.eu/premier-league-transfer-news-deals-to-be-announced-today-chelsea-liverpool-included/#respond Mon, 07 Jan 2019 16:33:49 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/premier-league-transfer-news-deals-to-be-announced-today-chelsea-liverpool-included/

Premier League transfers are beginning to filter through as the January window enters its second week.

Chelsea remain the biggest spenders in the top flight following their £58million swoop for Dortmund star Christian Pulisic.

Liverpool have shifted two of their fringe stars out of the club including Dominic Solanke on a permanent £19m switch to Bournemouth.

Right-back Nathaniel Clyne has also been allowed to swap Anfield for the Vitality Stadium, though his move is a loan deal.

Manchester United are yet to enter the market under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while Chelsea appear more concerned with trimming their squad down than adding to it.

Express Sport rounds up some of the biggest deals that could go through in the early stages of the January transfer window.

Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea to Monaco)

The Spanish star waved goodbye to Stamford Bridge this weekend as he prepares to sign on the dotted line at Monaco where he will be reunited with former Arsenal team-mate, now Monaco boss, Thierry Henry.

Stefano Okaka (Watford to Udinese)

The former Anderlecht star has failed to make an impact on the Premier League during two seasons at Watford and will imminently join Serie A side Udinese on loan.

Gary Cahill (Chelsea to Fulham)

Following Fabregas through the exit door will be veteran centre-back Cahill. He was left out of the FA Cup side to face Nottingham Forest while Fulham are preparing to send Timothy Fosu-Mensah back to Man Utd to make room for Cahill’s loan signing.

Divock Origi (Liverpool to Fulham)

The Merseyside derby appears to have put forgotten man Origi back on the map. He is closing in on a £15m switch to reinforce Fulham’s forward line though West Ham are also interested.

Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal to Juventus)

The Welshman will be the subject of much debate over the course of this month. His contract expires at the end of the season, but in reality, Arsenal are likely to sell him in January to raise funds. A deal could take place any time.

Premier League wrap: Spurs star in the record books, Gunners on fire https://briefnews.eu/premier-league-wrap-spurs-star-in-the-record-books-gunners-on-fire/ https://briefnews.eu/premier-league-wrap-spurs-star-in-the-record-books-gunners-on-fire/#respond Tue, 01 Jan 2019 20:34:45 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/premier-league-wrap-spurs-star-in-the-record-books-gunners-on-fire/ The Gunners were back to their very best as they thrashed fellow Londoners Fulham. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s real rivals Tottenham were equally as impressive as they outclassed Cradiff, with their talismanic skipper writing his name into the history books.

Here’s a wrap of all the Premier League action!

ARSENAL 4-1 FULHAM

The Gunners responded to their thrashing by Liverpool in the best possible manner reeling off a routine 4-1 humbling of struggling Fulham in their Premier League clash on Tuesday.

Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka had set Arsenal on their way with his fourth goal of the season. Alexandre Lacazette added the second after 55 minutes with their momentum temporarily halted as Aboubakar Kamara pulled one back after 69 minutes.

However, Welshman Aaron Ramsey came off the bench to make it 3-1 eleven minutes from time and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added a fourth.

CARDIFF 0-3 TOTTENHAM

Harry Kane got himself into the record books again as Tottenham Hotspur started 2019 in style outclassing Cardiff City to prevail 3-0 on Tuesday.

Kane’s third-minute opening goal is the fifth successive New Year’s Day he has scored in the Premier League, equalling a record held by Andy Cole and Steven Gerrard.

Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min added further goals as Spurs had the win wrapped up before halftime and reclaimed second place, a point above Manchester City, and six behind leaders Liverpool.

EVERTON 0-1 LEICESTER

Jamie Vardy’s 58th-minute strike gave Leicester City a 1-0 win at Everton and condemned Marco Silva’s side to their fourth defeat in five English Premier League games.

After a poor first half, the decisive goal came when Everton defender Michael Keane mis-controlled the ball to Ricardo Pereira, who sent Vardy through. The striker made no mistake with a low drive past Jordan Pickford before celebrating with a cartwheel in front of the travelling Foxes fans.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth: Premier League latest score, goals and updates

MANCHESTER UNITED 3-1 BOURNEMOUTH | POGBA (4, 33), RASHFORD (44), AKE (46)

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Young, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Martial, Rashford

Bournemouth XI: Begovic, Rico, Cook, Ake, Daniels, Brooks, Surman, Stanislas, Ibe, King, Wilson

  • Anthony Martial returns to the starting XI
  • Paul Pogba converts after excellent Marcus Rashford run
  • Pogba grabs second from Ander Herrera cross
  • Ashley Young booked for foul on Josh King
  • Marcus Rahsford gets on the scoresheet
  • Nathan Ake pulls one back from set-piece

MANCHESTER UNITED 3-1 BOURNEMOUTH

54: Ander Herrera booked for a needless tug of Junior Stanislas’ shirt on the halfway line. Bit silly from the midfielder.

51: Nearly a fourth for the hosts. Anthony Martial slips Ander Herrera through but Nathan Ake slides in at the near post. Miraculous recovery from the Dutch international.

48: Nathan Ake appears to have pulled his hamstring, but he’s not gone down. Looks like the centre-back will try to continue – which could be fatal with the pace of Marcus Rashford.

MANCHESTER UNITED 3-1 BOURNEMOUTH

45: And we’re back underway folks. How will Bournemouth approach this with that goal before the break? Another would make it seriously tasty.

Twitter round-up

Paul: All Manchester United have done under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is beat two rubbish teams in Cardiff and Huddersfield. They should win next two against Newcastle and Reading too. The real measure will be on the 13th when they play Tottenham.

Jason: Why are people surprised?! Paul Pogba played like this under Antonio Conte and , he played like this under Massimiliano Allegri and Didier Deschamps. I mean, you can’t score when you are 40 yards from goal like under Jose Mourinho!

James: Manchester United scored 31 goals in 17 premier League games under Jose Mourinho this season. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer they’ve scored 11 in two and a half games!

Piers: Manchester United would have won all these easy games under Jose Mourinho. Let’s see how ‘The greatest comeback since Lazarus’ narrative survives a big team opponent…

MANCHESTER UNITED 3-1 BOURNEMOUTH

HT: What’s that? Another entertaining 45 minutes of football at Old Trafford? Correct. Manchester United have been well worth their lead with Paul Pogba pulling all the strings.

A proper Christmas Premier League match this.

MANCHESTER UNITED 3-1 BOURNEMOUTH | AKE

46: No clean sheet for Manchester United again today as Nathan Ake reduces the deficit.

The former Chelsea defender has looked dangerous from set-pieces all afternoon and gets his reward for sheer endeavour and persistence.

Ake rises high to power home a clever dinked cross from David Brooks. Game on?

MANCHESTER UNITED 3-0 BOURNEMOUTH | RASHFORD

44: It’s Marcus Rashford’s turn to get on the scoresheet!

Nemanja Matic spots Anthony Martial darting into space and the Frenchman holds it up nicely. His cross finds Rashford in the middle of the goal to turn it home.

The goals keep flowing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer!

42: The hosts win a corner as the halfway interval approaches. Eric Bailly goes down inside the penalty area but there wasn’t really anyone near him. Bournemouth clear and the world keeps spinning.

39: Paul Pogba is the first Manchester United player to score at least twice in consecutive Premier League appearances since Wayne Rooney in December 2012.

37: Save! Josh King fires goalwards from an acute angle following a long throw with the United ‘keeper punching clear. Eric Bailly then sticks a hard, but fair challenge on the Bournemouth attacker. He’s been in the wars today!

35: Ouch! Ashley Young is booked for a silly challenge on Josh King near the byline. Steve Cook attacks the resulting corner but Nemanja Matic is there to make a vital block.

MANCHESTER UNITED 2-0 BOURNEMOUTH | POGBA

33: Too early to say game, set and match?!

Paul Pogba has come up trumps again with a superb header to double his personal and Manchester United’s tally.

The Frenchman arrives in the area to head in Ander Herrera’s inch-perfect cross at the near post. He really is relishing the freedom.

30: Antony Martial plays a cute chipped ball over to Paul Pogba, who sticks out a leg but can’t connect. I’d be interested to know the difference in the Frenchman’s running stats compared with the Jose Mourinho days.

27: How did Bournemouth not score!? Nathan Ake rises well above everyone inside the penalty area to head a corner towards goal and the ball bounces up against the oblivious David de Gea’s shoulder.

24: Junior Stanislas is allowed to gallop forward 30 yards before running out of options and dragging miles wide.

21: Close! Jordon Ibe, that’s Jordon with an “O” and not an “A”, sends a teasing cross across the six-yard box that Callum Wilson nearly connects with. Just a warning shot that Bournemouth have more to offer.

18: Sir Alex Ferguson is in the stands this afternoon and for once – he’s got a smile on his face while watching Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also revealed he will ask Fergie for occasional advice during his six-month tenure at the club.

15: Paul Pogba tees up Marcus Rashford who sees a volley wrong-foot Asmir Begovic and deflect narrowly wide of the post.

12: Nemanja Matic’s searching ball down the middle almost runs for Anthony Martial, but Asmir Begovic hoofed it into touch. Wise decision.

9: Paul Pogba has scored three goals in his three Premier League appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as many as he had in his previous 17 under Jose Mourinho.

7: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks like a kid in a candy shop… quite literally. The interim Manchester United boss is delighted with the opener. Quite amazing what a change and some positivity can do – probably going to make that my New Year’s resolution… maybe not.

MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 BOURNEMOUTH | POGBA

4: Woaaaah! No messing around from Manchester United at Old Trafford today – they’ve taken the lead inside five minutes!

Paul Pogba will grab the headlines but Marcus Rashford deserves the credit having nipped beyond two defenders and laid it on a plate for the French World Cup winner, who stretches to tap into an empty net.

4: Apparently the mood has changed at Old Trafford – just in case anyone has neglected to mention it four million times…

Manchester United vs Bournemouth: Premier League latest score, goals and updates

3: Josh King concedes a very early free-kick and Manchester United opt to load the box. Ashley Young hits a diagonal cross but Nemanja Matic can’t connect. Positive intent.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 BOURNEMOUTH

1: Y’all ready for this? We’re underway at Old Trafford. Can Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continue lighting up Christmas for Manchester United fans?

Prediction time…

16:28: Fresh from my correct 1-0 Chelsea prediction and Burnley to win – I’m going for another 3-1 victory for the Red Devils today.

Speaking of Red Devils – Fred the Red has given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a ginormous hug as he walked out the tunnel.

Nearly time

16:25: The players are just emerging from the tunnel at a packed Old Trafford. Quite refreshing to see a buoyant, full stadium. Been a while…

Record…

16:20: Leanne, our twitter contributor below, can probably start ordering her Chow mein after reading the following statistic.

Bournemouth have never beaten Man Utd at Old Trafford in all competitions, losing six and drawing one.

Twitter round-up

Dee: Jose Mourinho: We need Marouane Fellaini, we can’t survive without him. Solskjaer: Fellaini who?!

Leanne: Just put £5 on Manchester United to win. Gonna buy myself a special Chow mein If I get the £6.82 pay out!

Valery: Feeling good today! Let’s end this year and enter a new dawn of change! I’m going for a good 3-0 win! Let’s go Reds!

Full time

16:10: Elsewhere in the Premier League Manchester City have just completed a 3-1 victory over Southampton. That’s reduced Liverpool’s advantage to nine points.

At the foot of the table, Burnley have beaten West Ham 2-0 thanks to goals from Chris Wood and teenager Dwight McNeil.

Sir Alex Ferguson influence

16:05: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will implement the values he learnt from legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson onto the current Red Devils squad.

That is the opinion of former Manchester United, Fulham and France striker Louis Saha.

“To see Ole come in with all those memories that he had, all that knowledge that I think that he got from Sir Alex Ferguson, he will deliver that simple message of playing in a way that they show passion, a bit more freedom in a way,” Saha said.

No excuses

16:00: Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is determined not to let poor form and injuries derail his side’s season.

The Cherries were riding high in sixth place in the Premier League table at the start of November, but have lost seven of their last nine league matches.

Their slide down to 12th has coincided with a succession of serious knee injuries to key players, with captain Simon Francis the latest to be ruled out long term.

“We’ve had a great start and a slightly difficult end to the first half of the season that we’ve just gone through,” Howe said. “Obviously injuries have been an issue for us in recent weeks, but we sit in a very good position in the league, if we can build on what we’ve done so far.”

Twitter round-up

Mickey: Last game of 2018! Lets finish on a high and make our intentions clear for the rest of the season!

Kerr: Glad Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly are finally starting together, hope they impress the boss! Would be the centre-back partnership that I’d love to thrive!

Ton: I still don’t understand why it is so difficult to play Juan Mata ahead of Lingard. Lingard is a smart player but Juan Mata is everything! The most creative player we have got in the entire squad. Sigh.

Solskjaer shaw has impressed…

15:50: Apologies for the awful pun – It’s Sunday and I’ve had a particularly boozy Christmas!

Movings swiftly on, Luke Shaw has been impressed by the way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has quickly brought positivity and attacking football back to Manchester United since replacing Jose Mourinho.

“I think you can see from the outside how much he has changed things in such a short space of time,” Shaw said.

“He is just a really positive manager, he knows what the club needs and also what the fans want in the way we are playing. He’s bringing that attacking, quick play back to Old Trafford. I’m sure the fans are going to appreciate that as much as we do.”

Team news – Bournemouth

15:45: Bournemouth make three changes from the XI that began in the 5-0 thumping at Tottenham.

Diego Rico, Jordon Ibe and Joshua King replace the injured Simon Francis, Jefferson Lerma and Ryan Fraser.

Team news – Manchester United

15:40: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes four changes from the side that beat Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

The first is great news for my fantasy football team as Anthony Martial recovers from illness to replace Juan Mata.

Elsewhere Ashley Young returns to captain the side with young Diogo Dalot missing out. Eric Bailly starts ahead of Phil Jones and Ander Herrera replaces Fred in midfield.

Hail Solskjaer

15:35: Ryan Giggs has hailed the impact of caretaker manager and his former team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Giggs, the club’s last caretaker manager, was among the star names in attendance for the 3-1 win over Huddersfield and has been impressed by the immediate impact made by his former team-mate.

“Ole’s first home game and especially the positivity that came from the Cardiff game, the performance and the result, I think everyone was looking forward to the game,” Giggs said.

“And the big players are turning up – (Paul) Pogba with the goals, David (De Gea) with a great save and Marcus (Rashford) just getting better and better each game.

“So, there’s a real positivity around the place, which we need that to carry on now going into the Bournemouth game.”

Twitter round-up

Tom: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has practically admitted in the pre-match conference that he is functioning as a babysitter, tending to the players’ hurt feelings. Shame, shame, shame…

Craig: Once again looking forward to being at Old Trafford. The cloud has been lifted and the lads seem to be enjoying themselves! Let’s get behind the boys!

Michael: Really genuinely excited to watch Manchester United play later. Haven’t had this feeling in years. Think it might be optimism…

Aquaman end credit scene: Did you spot THIS Justice League and FLASHPOINT teaser? https://briefnews.eu/aquaman-end-credit-scene-did-you-spot-this-justice-league-and-flashpoint-teaser/ https://briefnews.eu/aquaman-end-credit-scene-did-you-spot-this-justice-league-and-flashpoint-teaser/#respond Sat, 29 Dec 2018 03:39:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/aquaman-end-credit-scene-did-you-spot-this-justice-league-and-flashpoint-teaser/

Aquaman isn’t just ruling the waves, he is the current king of the worldwide box office. The latest DC movie has passed $ 640million and some are predicting it could be the first Warner Bros DC Extended Universe release to pass one billion. No wonder confident talk is already focussed on the inevitable sequel. The single end credit scene clearly sets up a major storyline for the future. Eagle-eyed fans spotted a clever Justice League Ester Egg which director James Wan has already acknowledged.

Leading man Jason Momoa has said he is keen for a Justice League crossover and vocally denounced reports that Henry Cavill is stepping down as Superman.

However, when asked who he would like Aquaman to team up with next, he picked two other members of the Justice League – Wonder Woman and Flash.

Now a new screengrab from the movie has spotted a cheeky reference to the Aquaman Wonder Woman Flashpoint storyline.

Is this really on the cards? Mera will not be happy.

The cheeky newspaper clipping is seen on the wall in Doctor Shin’s makeshift lab.

Arthur Curry and Diana Prince have a relationship in the alternate Flashpoint universe. Furthermore, the only official reports about the solo Flash movie, including comments by Ezra Miller, have spoken of the Flashpoint storyline.

Is this clipping just a cheeky fan Easter Egg from director James Wan, or a sneaky clue about what could be coming next?

Momoa has also revealed he already pitched the opening scene of Aquaman 2 to Warner Bros executives.

The end credit scene appears to be setting up the return of Black Manta, aided by Shin, as the main antagonist, but much could change in the next few years.

The exact shape of the future DCEU is unclear, with persistent reports that Cavill and Ben Affleck’s Batman will exit.

The Flash movie remain far off, with no preproduction dates in place. Following Wonder Woman 2 and Shazam! next year, anything is possible.

However, an Aquaman Wonder Woman romance remains unlikely and this Easter Egg seems certain to be simply an in-joke piece of fun.

AQUAMAN IS OUT NOW.
