The Umbrella Academy, which was released on Netflix a few weeks ago, spent most of its season exploring the superpowers of its main cast, including those of Klaus (played by Robert Sheehan). Klaus appears to die but is soon revived in one scene of the Netflix drama, leading some fans to wonder if The Umbrella Academy character is immortal. Robert Sheehan’s character in Misfits was also unable to die, prompting fans of The Umbrella Academy to wonder if this scene is a Netflix Easter egg to the E4 series.

Is Klaus immortal in The Umbrella Academy?

If the Netflix series follows the comic books, then it is likely that Klaus is immortal.

According to a flashback in one episode, it seems that Netflix are following the Gerard Way series with this character.

In this episode, we see Klaus enter the afterlife after, presumably, dying on Earth in a nightclub.

However, he seems to be rejected from the afterlife and wakes up back in the club, suggesting that he is, in effect, immortal.

THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY POWERS AND NUMBERS

Though this is not explicitly the afterlife, Klaus does speak to the recently departed Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) there.

The series has not made clear whether this was a dream sequence, however, or a genuine visit to the afterworld.

In the comic books, it was revealed that Klaus is immortal after he was rejected by God himself.

Though the series has referenced this event, it has not explicitly been said that Klaus is immortal.

WHO PLAYS POGO IN THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY?

Some fans think, however, that we have seen him close to death and coming back to life at another part of the Netflix show.

One Umbrella Academy fan wrote on Reddit: “In the show he is also returned to the land of the living (if you count the ambulance ride in [episode] 1).”

In that episode, Klaus comes back to life in the back of an ambulance after an overdose.

Though the question of whether Klaus is immortal is still up in the air, in Misfits Robert Sheehan’s character Nathan was immortal.

WHO IS HAROLD JENKINS IN THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY?

As such, the fact that The Umbrella Academy has not actually said whether he is immortal could be the show distancing itself from the BAFTA-winning show.

On the other hand, the choice to cast Sheehan could have been because of his previous role as an immortal character.

More about Klaus and his powers is sure to be revealed in the upcoming season two of The Umbrella Academy.

Netflix has not officially renewed the series, but rumours abound that the show will return.

The Umbrella Academy is streaming on Netflix now.

Louis Hynes, who plays Klaus Baudelaire, has come clean about a behind-the-scenes disruption which occurred on the Netflix drama.

In a video posted to his Instagram, Louis exposed a secret from the the filming of the eighth episode of season two to fans.

Louis in character as Klaus can be seen rushing Violet Baudelaire (played by Malina Weissman) on a gurney through Heimlich Hospital as they attempt to escape Count Olaf’s (Neil Patrick Harris) clutches once more.

However, when the doors fly open, part of the wall manages to fall off with it, knocking down props.

The pair are clearly surprised at the inadvertent destruction they’ve caused and break character with a smile.

Louis captioned the video: “That time I accidentally broke the set… @unfortunate.”

The programme, based on the series by Daniel Handler’s alias Lemony Snicket, has already enjoyed two season and covered the events of nine books.

With only four books left in the series, season three will be its last.

The final instalment is also set to have fewer episode that its predecessors with seven instalments, while the first had eight and the second had ten.

It is not yet known when season three will air, although if it follows the patterns of the other seasons it could be early 2019.

Neil Patrick Harris, who plays the villainous Count Olaf, has spoken out on how doing only three seasons feels like making “a specific piece of art”.

He told Digital Spy: ”It was always the plan to do three seasons, which I really liked.”

“It makes me feel like we’re doing a specific piece of art, as opposed to just hoping that the zeitgeist holds us up for as many seasons as people can stomach.”

The cast for the last season will remain the same with Louis, Malina and Neil reprising their roles along with Presley Smith, who plays toddler Sunny Baudelaire.

The gothic tale has already featured some huge names, including Lucy Punch, Joan Cusack, Catherine O’Hara and Don Johnson.

Therefore, season three could bring in some big stars as more characters are introduced.

Get Out actress Alison Williams will likely be involved in the third season after she turned up at the end of series two as an unnamed character.

Her identity was not revealed, but it could be that she’ll be playing Kit Snicket, sister to narrator Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) and the slain Jacques Snicket (Nathan Fillion).

Kit takes on a big role in the final books, so if it is Alison, she’ll definitely be sticking around for a while.

A Series of Unfortunate Events seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Netflix.

We’re not ready to say goodbye to The Originals, but we’re definitely ready to say hello to Caroline Forbes.

As previously reported by TVLine, the Vampire Diaries character will play a vital role in the CW drama’s upcoming final season — largely as a mentor to Klaus, who still hasn’t gotten a grip on this whole “fatherhood” concept yet — and now, we have our official first look at the long-awaited “Klaroline” reunion.

This new batch of photos also introduces us to Roman (played by Descendants‘ Jedediah Goodacre), a vampire who takes a special interest in Hope, and even gives us a glimpse into Hayley’s relationship with her now-teenage daughter.

The Originals kicks off its final season on Friday, April 20 at 9/8c. Browse our gallery of Season 5 photos — you can click here for direct access — then drop a comment with your thoughts below.

The Originals Series Finale Wraps: Klaus, Caroline and More Say Goodbye in Behind-the-Scenes Photos https://briefnews.eu/the-originals-series-finale-wraps-klaus-caroline-and-more-say-goodbye-in-behind-the-scenes-photos/ https://briefnews.eu/the-originals-series-finale-wraps-klaus-caroline-and-more-say-goodbye-in-behind-the-scenes-photos/#respond Fri, 15 Dec 2017 05:48:57 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-originals-series-finale-wraps-klaus-caroline-and-more-say-goodbye-in-behind-the-scenes-photos/

It turns out “always and forever” does have an expiration date.

The stars of The Originals — some of them, anyway — assembled Thursday in New Orleans for the final day of filming on the CW drama. And considering the series finale is titled “When the Saints Go Marching In,” it was only fitting that Joseph Morgan & Co. got to finish it on location in the Big Easy.

Thankfully, the last day — plus several leading up to it — were well-documented on social media by The Originals‘ cast and crew, offering fans one last look at the Mikaelsons (including one member visiting from beyond the grave), the show’s elaborate sets and much more.

TVLine paid a visit to the Vampire Diaries spinoff’s Georgia set earlier this week, nabbing interviews with several cast members just minutes after they filmed their final scenes:

Tesla ousts executive Klaus Grohmann months after acquiring his firm https://briefnews.eu/tesla-ousts-executive-klaus-grohmann-months-after-acquiring-his-firm/ https://briefnews.eu/tesla-ousts-executive-klaus-grohmann-months-after-acquiring-his-firm/#respond Fri, 28 Apr 2017 08:49:41 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/tesla-ousts-executive-klaus-grohmann-months-after-acquiring-his-firm/

(Reuters) — Tesla executive Klaus Grohmann was ousted last month after a clash with Chief Executive Elon Musk over the strategy of Grohmann’s firm, which Tesla had acquired in November, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The Silicon Valley luxury electric carmaker is counting on Grohmann Engineering’s automation and engineering expertise to help it ramp up production to 500,000 cars per year by 2018.

At the time of the purchase, it described Klaus Grohmann and the company he founded as a “world leader in highly automated manufacturing”.

Tesla planned to keep Grohmann on, and Grohmann wanted to stay, but the clash with Musk over how to treat existing clients resulted in his departure, the source said.

Grohmann disagreed with Musk’s demands to focus management attention on Tesla projects to the detriment of Grohmann Engineering’s legacy clients, which included Tesla’s direct German-based rivals Daimler and BMW, two sources familiar with the matter said.

Reached by phone, Klaus Grohmann declined to comment on the circumstances of his leaving, citing confidentiality clauses.

“I definitely did not depart because I had lost interest in working,” Grohmann said, without elaborating.

A Tesla spokesman, asked about Grohmann’s departure, praised him for building an “incredible company” and said:

“Part of Mr Grohmann’s decision to work with Tesla was to prepare for his retirement and leave the company in capable hands for the future. Given the change in focus to Tesla projects, we mutually decided that it was the right time for the next generation of management to lead.”

Two sources familiar with the matter said Tesla’s plans to ramp up production with the help of the company now renamed Tesla Grohmann Automation remain on track.

The management layer below Klaus Grohmann is continuing his work, they told Reuters. But they said parts of the workforce felt insecure about becoming so dependent on one client after the founder’s departure.

Last year, Tesla had said: “Under the continued leadership of Mr Grohmann, several critical elements of Tesla’s automated manufacturing systems will be designed and produced in Pruem, to help make our factories the most advanced in the world.”

“Our factories are so important that we believe they will ultimately deserve an order of magnitude more attention in engineering than what they produce. At very high production volumes, the factory becomes more of a product than the product itself,” Tesla said at the time.

Tesla started out as a client of Grohmann Engineering, a small unlisted company based in Pruem, near the Luxembourg border, that helped companies design highly automated factories, a source familiar with the company told Reuters.

As pressure grew to increase production volumes at Tesla, Musk decided to buy Grohmann Engineering and make Pruem a base for Tesla Advanced Automation.

As well as BMW and Daimler, Grohmann counted the auto parts maker Bosch [ROBG.UL], chip maker Intel, and pharmaceutical firms Abbott Laboratories and Roche among its clients.

Negotiations have started with some of the clients about how to compensate them for lack of resources devoted to their projects, one of the sources said.

The German labor union IG Metall has demanded that Tesla’s management formalize multi-year job guarantees and increase salaries as a way to provide assurance amid management turmoil.

Klaus was given pretty clear instructions midway through Friday’s episode of The Originals: “Kill Marcel, or he will kill you… and everyone you love.” Of course, the situation becomes a little more complicated when you consider the source.

After all, it was the Hollow — appearing in the form of Mikael, because Cami died before she got to work through all of Klaus’ daddy issues — that delivered the troubling ultimatum. Marcel, on the other hand, got off pretty easy in the hallucination department. (I’ll take a well-suited Elijah reciting Shakespeare over the mad rantings of a bloodthirsty Viking lunatic any day.)

But not even the power of a “depraved ghost” was enough to pit Klaus against his son in a fight to the death. Sure, a few barbs were traded, but the conflict ended with Marcel merely being knocked unconscious — a significant step down from what the Hollow had intended. As Elijah pointed out, the mere fact that Klaus spared Marcel’s life proves he’s on the road to redemption.

Freya was able to send the Hollow packing — more on her involvement later — but the episode’s final scene proved, just as we should always assume, that Klaus still has an enemy in New Orleans. And she goes by the name of… Sofya! (Dun, dun, dun.)

Elsewhere this week…

‘I GUESS THIS IS GOODBYE’ (OR NOT)| With the weapon to kill Marcel finally in her possession, Freya informed Keelin that their mission had been accomplished, thus allowing the wayward wolf to return to her old life. “This wasn’t exactly built to be a long-term friendship,” she said as she left, as if that would somehow soften the blow of Freya losing her first non-Mikaelson companion in… forever?

Anyway, it only took about five minutes for Keelin to return to Freya’s apartment — she made up some crap about having to honor her Hippocratic Oath — and it took even less time for sparks to start flying between them. (Hell, they couldn’t even get through a skirmish against the Hollow without sneaking in a little hand-holding.) Though I admit I was surprised the women didn’t kiss in their last scene together, I’m really enjoying the slow burn of their relationship.

‘WE COULD BE HAPPY’ | If you weren’t already confident in Elijah’s love for Hayley, I have to imagine that their stroll through the bayou — during which he vowed that they could even be happy together “in jean shorts” — set you straight. (Also, I forgive you for doubting them. But don’t ever do it again.) Anyway, it’s a good thing Hayley has a solid support system, because she’ll need it after this week’s big discovery: the Hollow turned Mary’s husband insane and made him kill her parents. In case you need a reminder, this thing is not screwing around.

The Originals Recap: The Escape Klaus https://briefnews.eu/the-originals-recap-the-escape-klaus/ https://briefnews.eu/the-originals-recap-the-escape-klaus/#respond Sat, 25 Mar 2017 05:33:52 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-originals-recap-the-escape-klaus/

Rescuing Klaus proved a little trickier — and a lot bloodier — than expected on Friday’s The Originals.

With Josh as their only ally in town — mostly because they politely agreed not to murder his new boyfriend — the Mikaelsons quickly got to work, moving quietly through the tunnels to find their missing sibling. Naturally, Rebekah was selected to distract Marcel while the others attempted to free Klaus, a reunion that led to some painful exchanges, including, “I was a fool for loving you.” (Ouch! … I mean, it’s true, but still.)

Of course, Klaus wasn’t totally alone before his siblings arrived. He spent much of the hour arguing with Cami (aka himself) about what kind of an influence he might be on his daughter. “Perhaps I’m better as a myth,” he conceded. “And Hope is better off without me.” Fortunately, Cami has always been able to get through to Klaus — even when she’s not really there — so he eventually accepted that, flaws and all, his daughter still needs him.

(Side note: Even as a hallucination, I’m glad we got to experience one more therapy session between Klaus and Cami. They really did have a Beauty and the Beast-style relationship, one that I’ll always miss.)

The Mikaelsons thought they were finally in the clear, especially after Klaus stuck Marcel with Papa Tunde’s blade, though they apparently forgot one little thing: Marcel ain’t no regular vampire anymore! Whatever he is now (Super-Saiyan Vampire?!), he managed to yank out the blade with relative ease, then track down the First Family of Vampirism on its way out of town.

Frankly, I’m a little surprised that Marcel let them all leave without a fight. Maybe everyone on the show has matured over the past five years. (Well, everyone except Kol. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy his little dig at Marcel: “Oh, for God’s sake, you were never a Mikaelson. Get over it!”)

And for an episode rife with pain and drama, the hour ended on a refreshingly touching note: Klaus looking on as his little girl slept. Aww.

Other things worth discussing:

* Kol’s love for Davina was always what made him relatable to me, so I’m glad the show is honoring that — even after her death. I also appreciated the Aiden shout-out as Josh assured him that he’ll feel “normal” again someday.

* What the eff attacked Vincent in that scary house?! I’m glad he knows what it is, but it would be lovely if he could clue us in, too.
