Naga however was ready to face him head-on: “You know what Matt? Bring it on. I mean seriously, did you now learn? Did you now learn the lessons from last week?

Matt though wasn’t willing to keep on the banter and said: “I’ll move on.”

He then introduced his guest for the day, Emily Atack, who is making her second appearance on the show.

“This is a live one, this is scary,” she said and Matt hit back: “Why is it scary? Should have been here last week?”

“I heard,” the actress replied.

Naga and Charlie backlash: BBC hit with Saturday Kitchen complaints ‘Rude and obnoxious’ https://briefnews.eu/naga-and-charlie-backlash-bbc-hit-with-saturday-kitchen-complaints-rude-and-obnoxious/ https://briefnews.eu/naga-and-charlie-backlash-bbc-hit-with-saturday-kitchen-complaints-rude-and-obnoxious/#respond Fri, 26 Feb 2021 22:00:20 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/naga-and-charlie-backlash-bbc-hit-with-saturday-kitchen-complaints-rude-and-obnoxious/

Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt are usually seen crossing over to the Saturday Kitchen studio to find out what is coming up from Matt Tebbutt and his guest chefs. Last weekend, however, the BBC Breakfast presenters were not in the BBC studio but instead the celebrity guests on the popular cooking show. Throughout the morning, they were seen discussing their day jobs, tasting the food and having a good time. But those watching at home were less than impressed by their behaviour and branded the pair “rude” and “disruptive”, so much so,  100 official complaints were made to the broadcaster.

While Matt was hosting the show and cooking the majority of dishes, Yotam Ottolenghi was the guest chef.

Naga and Charlie were seen sitting at the round table, sampling the dishes and chatting with the presenter, but several of their comments infuriated those watching at home.

While many fumed on Twitter, it has been revealed 100 people complained to the BBC directly and a statement from the broadcaster in response read: “Saturday Kitchen Live’s format allows for an informal chatty style and the guests are encouraged to feel relaxed in the studio…

“Some viewers found the behaviour and comments of the guests this week to be inappropriate and that they were rude to presenter Matt.

“We appreciate the feedback and we shared it with the Saturday Kitchen team.”

During one moment of the show, Matt asked: “You’ve had a tough year right?” To which Naga replied: “Everyone’s had a tough year.”

“Everyone’s had a tough year, but to read for three to four hours a day that news – it’s pretty hard going,” he continued.

Charlie said: “You’ve really brought the tone down, haven’t you? I thought you were going to ask ‘what’s it like getting up in the morning?’ but you’ve gone -”

And Naga then interrupted: “For everyone who wants to turn off the news and might want a bit of relaxation, don’t tune into Saturday Kitchen, it’s not worth it! Yotam’s going to take over and then it’s going to be loads better.”

Another time, Naga turned to Matt and asked: “What does your food like? Chaotic?”

“It’s what’s inside my head,” he defended and she reiterated: “Chaotic.”

When Matt was in the kitchen, Yotam who was sitting on the side commented: “Do you think feta would be quite nice?” In terms of changing the main cheese ingredient.

“That wouldn’t work,” Matt joked and then added: “No, of course, it would!”

Charlie then hollered: “Shall we have a poll as to who we think has got the right call on that one?”

And Naga said: “This just proves my point, Yotam should be doing all of them. He’s got all the better ideas.”

“It’s no wonder Matt’s a bit anxious with you two in the room, it’s a bit intimating. If it was a real chef in here and I had to cook I would be intimated,” Yotam continued.

“Do you always have such glee when it happens?” Charlie asked Matt and he replied: “Totally, I revel in misery.”

He then got on with preparing the dish and Naga remarked: “I’m in shock.”

“Why?” Matt said. “After you were mean to the host of the nation’s favourite cookery show!”

“We weren’t mean!” She hit back. “I’m not disputing it’s the nation’s favourite cookery show, we were just having a laugh.”

But viewers didn’t see it that way. Tweets that day read: “Can someone tell Naga and Charlie they’re not presenting? Constant interruptions. I think Matt deserves a medal for the way he is handling their rudeness.”

“Should have put Superglue Sandwich on on the #saturdaykitchen menu….for Naga and Charlie gobs… Charlie and Naga deserved to get food hell,” another tweet read.

Someone else chimed: “Well done Matt!… Good, Charlie and Naga were absolutely awful, I’m surprised it wasn’t 100%. Obnoxious, rude, self-obsessed. Matt and Yotam working hard to keep it together with those two children in the studio.”

One, however, disagreed: “Can’t help but laugh at the Twitter rage on #SaturdayKitchen at Naga & Charlie. I think @matt_tebbutt has handled the banter with bashful good grace.”

And someone else said: “I think the teasing that Matt usually courts is what makes the show fresh and entertaining… Best TV I’ve seen in ages. Laughed so much. Well done Naga and Charlie. Don’t listen to the negative comments. X.”

Ratings: Hell’s Kitchen, Sheldon Rerun Top Night; Walker Stabilizes in Week 3 https://briefnews.eu/ratings-hells-kitchen-sheldon-rerun-top-night-walker-stabilizes-in-week-3/ https://briefnews.eu/ratings-hells-kitchen-sheldon-rerun-top-night-walker-stabilizes-in-week-3/#respond Fri, 05 Feb 2021 16:58:04 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/ratings-hells-kitchen-sheldon-rerun-top-night-walker-stabilizes-in-week-3/

In the latest TV show ratings, Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen this week drew 2.8 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating, leading Thursday in the demo (with ABC and CBS mostly in rerun mode).

Leading out of that, Call Me Kat (2.5 mil/0.5) and Last Man Standing (2.5 mil/0.4) were both steady.

Elsewhere:

CBS | A Young Sheldon rerun drew Thursday’s largest audience, with 4.6 million viewers. The Unicorn (3.1 mil/0.4) and Star Trek: Disco‘s Season 1 broadcast finale (1.63 mil/0.2) were steady.

THE CW | Walker (1.9 mil/0.3) and Legacies (635K/0.2, TVLine reader grade “A-“; read musical post mortem) were steady in the demo, though each dropped a handful of eyeballs.

NBC | Mr. Mayor (3 mil/0.5) dipped, Superstore (2.2 mil/0.4) was steady.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives.

Therefore, Matt asked the viewers at home to vote on whether he should cook his guest a bean soup with tomato salsa, roasted corn and fried tortilla chips or Lemon sponge cake with confit vanilla lemons.

The host explained the result was very close but 52 percent of voters chose for Sara to enjoy some Mexican food.

Taking to Twitter to comment, one viewer wrote: “I really wanted the lemon cake but because its Sara I’ve gone for Heaven – even though I think it’s disgusting.”

Another added: “I would choose the cake. However, Sara is ace so I’ll be voting food heaven,” whilst a third posted: “As much as I love Sara, have to say I’d be tempted to go for the Lemon cake.”

Matt Tebbutt hits out as Saturday Kitchen guests ‘take over’ show: ‘What am I doing here?’ https://briefnews.eu/matt-tebbutt-hits-out-as-saturday-kitchen-guests-take-over-show-what-am-i-doing-here/ https://briefnews.eu/matt-tebbutt-hits-out-as-saturday-kitchen-guests-take-over-show-what-am-i-doing-here/#respond Sat, 19 Sep 2020 18:48:15 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/matt-tebbutt-hits-out-as-saturday-kitchen-guests-take-over-show-what-am-i-doing-here/

Matt, 46, was on hand to host another instalment of Saturday Kitchen and was joined in the studio by television presenter Cat Deeley, 43, and chef Shivi Ramoutar. From the moment the BBC cookery show went on air, it was clear the former Saturday Morning TV star was very excited to be a guest as she explained she was a big fan of the show. However, as the broadcaster tried to inform viewers about what was coming up on the programme, he couldn’t get a word in edgeways as his co-stars were having their own conversation.

To begin the show, the presenter allowed Shivi to explain what she was going to be preparing, which she did with enthusiasm.

“It’s quite theatrical the show today,” Matt told those watching at home, with the guest chef explaining she was excited to be sharing the stage with Cat.

“I can’t contain myself,” she continued as the Let’s Dance star was seen sitting in the corner, bubbling with excitement.

With the women complimenting one another, it was at this point the host believed proceedings were no longer in his hands.

“I don’t know what I’m doing here, to be honest,” he hit out before Shivi asked if she could continue talking about the dishes she was going to create.

The host told the chef to “carry on” so he could carry on with the rest of the programme before time ran out.

Even when it came to preparing his own dish, the presenter couldn’t talk through the process as in detail as he would have liked because Cat continued to go off on a tangent.

“I’m sorry,” the guest said several times as she shared stories from her career, to which Matt joked she was taking over his role.

“Give me a shout when you’re finished – I just want to recap some food,” he quipped with Cat becoming red-faced as she realised he was getting little air time.

“I feel like a personal chef come, waiter, today,” he continued to joke, telling viewers the recipes were all online in case they’d “struggled” to follow along.

Taking to Twitter, those watching at home reacted to the scenes, with one writing: “Glad Matt asked if Cat’s microphone could be turned down on @SaturdayKitchen #SaturdayKitchen.”

“Blooming heck I thought I could talk but @catdeeley on #SaturdayKitchen beats me hands down. Think she forgot she’s on the telly,” a second added.

Whilst a third commented: “Thoroughly enjoying @SaturdayKitchen with @catdeeley as a guest. Don’t think we have had one as good since lockdown started. Genuine human repartee between the guest, host and chef. #SaturdayKitchen.”

Introducing Cat to the show, Matt explained she was a “superfan” and had been watching the programme whilst living in America.

The Let’s Dance host said: “You can buy a UK box to plug into your satellite system,” which she told the presenter was “all above board”.

“I plugged it in so I could watch your show every week,” she continued, to which the Saturday Kitchen star asked her: “Does that mean I’m international?”

“In my house, you are,” she replied, before joking the chef needed to “start small and think big”.

By the end of the programme, viewers had opted for the dish they wanted Matt to cook his guest for the Food Heaven or Food Hell segment.

The options those at home had to choose from was the goodness of langoustines with pork belly or the disaster of black pudding with parmesan polenta.

It was the former which was voted for by viewers, to which Cat was hugely grateful for as she thought she would be given her idea of hell for talking.

“I feel like doing a lap around the studio,” she said at the news before tucking into the dish the presenter had made.

Saturday Kitchen airs at 10am on BBC One.

Saturday Kitchen viewers baffled as BBC show hit by major technical blunder: ‘Is it me?’ https://briefnews.eu/saturday-kitchen-viewers-baffled-as-bbc-show-hit-by-major-technical-blunder-is-it-me/ https://briefnews.eu/saturday-kitchen-viewers-baffled-as-bbc-show-hit-by-major-technical-blunder-is-it-me/#respond Sat, 27 Jun 2020 15:38:09 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/saturday-kitchen-viewers-baffled-as-bbc-show-hit-by-major-technical-blunder-is-it-me/

Matt Tebbutt welcomed Rebecca Front onto Saturday Kitchen this morning, during which the actress discussed the new BBC show The Other One. In the usual fashion, Matt asked his guest to name some ingredients she had stored away in her cupboards and the host came up with two delicious dish ideas. However, when viewers were asked to vote on which dish they’d like to see prepared, they were exposed to a technical blunder.

After introducing the actress, Matt said: “At the end of the show I will be cooking your choice of dish using the ingredients Rebecca’s got at home, so Rebecca let’s talk through these ingredients.”

“Well we stocked up on loads of tinned goods at the beginning of lockdown like people did,” she replied.

“We’ve got lots of tins of beans, cannellini beans, kidney beans, lots of those in the pantry.”

“Ras El Hanout, cause that just spices things up a bit. Some tomatoes and some garlic and some bulgar wheat, which I’m a very big fan of. Do your worst,” Rebecca added.

Saturday Kitchen’s Matt asked fans of the show to choose between stuffed tomatoes and Middle Eastern style beans.

“I could go retro and make a stuffed tomato, bringing back the 70s,” Matt revealed.

“Stuffed tomatoes with toasted bulgur wheat, roasted red peppers, beans, tuna flakes. I’m going to bake it until it’s browned.

“Served with a generous drizzle of olive and basil dressing, serve it with some fresh basil leaves.”

“No way to vote on your link, but option two has made me think, this is the best choice to cook, for the Saturday Kitchen history book!” a second wrote.

“Option two, please. The voting button doesn’t appear to work,” another shared.

“The website isn’t giving you the option to vote,” a fourth complained.

Later in the show, Matt addressed the technical blunder and assured viewers he would let them know as soon as the voting system was working.

Viewers were relieved the blunder had been acknowledged as one tweeted: “Thanks Matt, thought I was doing something wrong.”

With over half an hour left of voting time, Saturday Kitchen tweeted: “Good news! The vote is back up and running.”

Matt shared the news with viewers and later revealed the Middle Eastern style beans had been chosen as the winning dish.

Saturday Kitchen continues Saturday on BBC One at 10am.

The hosts were joined by comedian Hugo Boss, formerly Joe Lycett, who joined via video link from his house in Birmingham.

First things first, Tim wasn’t really sure what to call Hugo since legally changing his name.

Joe explained: “I am called Hugo Boss, that is my name and I refuse to acknowledge being called Joe that is no longer my name and I refuse to acknowledge it.”

For those viewers who don’t know, Joe Lycett legally changed his name to Hugo Boss after learning that the fashion house Hugo Boss had been sending cease and desist letters to any small company with Boss in the name.

Viewers had the choice between food heaven, gammon egg and chips or food hell, gammon boulangerie with fennel.

They went for the food heaven, and Anton was overjoyed as Matt cooked him gammon, egg, and chips.

As he cooked, Anton joked that Matt should definitely sign up for Strictly Come Dancing, but he would have to work out which of his two feet was the left one.

Wine expert Helen McGinn told Matt right at the end of the show: “Your wife has just messaged into the show, and she really doesn’t want you doing Strictly.”

The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett joined Holly Willoughby live on This Morning last week.

Phillip asked: “It’s been the best kept secret on TV and so we are all on the edge of our seats but what I am going to ask you though, am I going to go, ‘Oh you are joking!’?”

Joel explained: “You genuinely will, especially, there’s one name that I think everyone that filmed it did not expect it to be that person and I think it is the person that has alluded everyone throughout the entire thing it’s so good.”

Holly asked: “Has anyone guessed it?”

He explained: “Yeah some people have, but to throw spanners in the works, sometimes people on social media who it is are saying it isn’t them.”
