It’s Kevin’s birthday this week on The Chi, but the viewers are the ones who get the best gift: clarity on the man holding holding Kiesha captive.

As some of you correctly guessed after last week’s episode, the sicko keeping Kiesha in his basement is the same guy who put the cash in the jar at Perry’s Pizza right after Kevin punched that kid a few weeks back. But why he decided to nab the track star is still up in the air: Aside from a horribly misogynistic memory he shares during the hour, we don’t get much closer to finding out his motives. But Kiesha is still alive by the end of the episode, which is at least a little encouraging.

At the beginning of “Woo Woo Woo,” we see Kiesha and Kevin getting breakfast on his birthday. At first, it seems like maybe a flashback to last year, but then they talk about her heading off to school soon, so it’s definitely not old. They’re smiley and easy with each other, and she gives him a scrapbook to remind him that “it don’t matter how old you get. You’re always gonna be my little brother.” Then the diner’s staff comes out with candles in a giant stack of pancakes, singing “Happy Birthday.”

Cut to Kiesha, forlornly coloring a picture of the pancakes while handcuffed to her bed in the kidnapper’s basement. The diner daydream was just that: a fantasy. She writes “Happy birthday bro” at the bottom and cries. Then her kidnapper enters and makes her sit in front of him while he brushes her hair, murmuring about how she’s a “nice” and “clean” girl. Ewwwww. A knock on the front door draws him away: It’s Ronnie, asking about whether he heard anyone screaming the night before. The man said he did, but has no info, then Ronnie asks if he can come in and use the bathroom. The man is hesitant but eventually relents.

While Ronnie’s on his way to the loo upstairs, he surreptitiously looks around for Kiesha. Downstairs, she screams her head off, hoping that whoever is in the house will hear her. Though Creepster McPervface likely soundproofed the basement, Ronnie hears something through the heating ductwork. And when he asks the kidnapper about it, the guy is about to bash his head in with a track-and-field trophy. But then Ronnie pretends like he must’ve been confused, and the man lets him leave (and live).

Later, downstairs, the kidnapper is very angry that Kiesha tried to solicit help. As he paws at her hair, he says she reminds him of his first crush, who rejected him when he asked her out on a date. As he recalls how the woman in question then “started serving it up to” all the guys at their school and wound up pregnant and on welfare, he angrily snips at Kiesha’s hair while tears run down her face. “I couldn’t save her,” he says. “But I can save you.”

the-chi-recap-season-3-episode-6-Meanwhile, Jemma takes Kevin rollerskating and then out for pancakes for his birthday and gives him an iPad. But he gets very angry when she admits that she told her mom about Kiesha’s disappearance, and her mom shared the info with others, so people at their school now have made the connection between Kiesha and Kev. He leaves the pancake place without eating and eventually heads home, where Dre — with the help of Jake, Papa, Maisha, Emmett, Tiffany and a very grateful Nina — has planned a little surprise party for her stepson. But just before Kevin arrives at his door, he gets a call from a blocked number.. though the person on the other end doesn’t say anything, and Kevin eventually hangs up.

What we know but Kev doesn’t: The call was from Kiesha, who promised to be a “good girl” if her kidnapper would just let her hear her brother’s voice on his big day.

Elsewhere on the South Side:

* After Douda’s own mother endorses Camille Holloway, Rose defies her husband’s wishes and pays the older woman off in order to buy her silence from there on out. Of course, Douda finds out and got very mad. But he also deploys a tactic of his own: In an interview, he calls his mother “mentally ill” and vows to make mental health a focus of his campaign. Then he plays some potentially damning audio of Holloway mocking churches in low-income neighborhoods. Oh, it’s on!

the-chi-recap-season-3-episode-6-* Trig and Jake spend the day together, looking for a large amount of cash Reg allegedly stashed in his house. They eventually find it in an abandoned building… which is also where one of Douda’s men tries to get the jump on them. Trig beats him senseless first, then tells Jake the truth: Douda killed Reg, via the Wild Boys, and Jake’s got to pick a side: “It’s either him or me. Who’s it going to be?”

* Ronnie takes Ethel out for a day at Foxxie’s, the jazz club she used to run. Well, it used to be a jazz club. Now, it’s an all-male revue. But she rolls with it and eventually has the entire place sitting in rapt attention as she reminisces about the greats who played on her nightclub’s stage. “We was just happy to be Black and far away from the South,” she says, holding court. “It was the only place Blacks could be free.” Ronnie brings her back to the nursing home and gets her settled in bed, then realizes that she’s passed away while he had his back turned. He sobs by her bedside.

Paige Smith’s (played by Olympia Valance) youngster was snatched in the season finale leaving viewers desperate to know what happens to the favourite’s child. 

When the soap returns in 2018, it seems that news has spread fast about the baby Gabe and doting boyfriend Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor) sweeps in to save the day. 

After the police officer gets a call revealing the identity of the criminal, he rushes to talk with her, promising not to alert the cops. 

What greets him is Nurse Louise (Maria Theodorakis) who took Gabe and she is not willing to let him go until her demands are met. 

But it’s not as straightforward as that, as she didn’t bring the baby with her, promising only to reveal his location once she has escaped with her wishlist. 

However, her plans for money and a passport go awry as the police force rush in and catch her before she can make her escape. 

Mark is furious as he tried to do it his way without the police, but worried dad Jack Callahan (Andrew James Morley) phoned them in secret. 

The nurse is taken away and Paige and Jack come to loggerheads – can they come together to rescue baby Gabe before it’s too late?

Elsewhere in Erinsborough, it’s bad news for Shane Rebecchi (Nicholas Coghlan) who finds himself struck down in a brutal bike accident while trying to protect daughter Kirsha (Vani Dhir). 

Following the fireworks accident that left her deaf, Kirsha is struggling to cope with her new way of living. 

After shunning her dad’s attempts to learn Auslan – Australian Sign Language – she finds herself walking the streets.

She faces danger when young Jimmy Williams (Darcy Tadich) heads towards her on his bike and she can’t hear his warning calls. 

Naturally, doting dad Shane steps in and falls head first to the ground. 

Will Shane walk away unscathed from the accident? 

Neighbours returns to Channel 5 on January 8 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm.

The man accused of kidnapping aspiring British model Chloe Ayling has claimed the whole ordeal was “fabricated” to make her famous. Lukasz Herba faces court in Italy on Wednesday over accusations he abducted the 20-year-old before holding her hostage for six days.

Ayling hit the headlines in July after she was found in Italy, having been shoved into a suitcase in an alleged kidnap and ransom plot. Ayling claims that she was offered a modeling job in Milan, but on arrival was snatched and drugged by a group calling itself Black Death – which is accused of selling sex slaves to the Middle East.

Six days later, she was found outside the British embassy. Young mum Chloe was reportedly spared after telling the kidnappers she had a child.
Herba, a 30-year-old Polish national, is in custody in Milan after his arrest. He denies knowingly taking part in a crime. His brother Michal Herba was also charged with being involved in the kidnapping.

Herba’s lawyer, Katia Kolakowska, has said Ayling was in on the plot and wanted to become famous. “He says the kidnap was a fabrication. They planned it together so she would become famous,” Kolakowska told the Mirror. She added that the pair had previously met in Paris to discuss the plan, saying: “There is evidence the two had an existing relationship.”

Kolakowska said she will ask for the Milan trial to be adjourned tomorrow so Herba and his brother – who is fighting extradition from the UK – can defend themselves together.
Doubts have been cast over Ayling’s account of the kidnapping after it was revealed she had breakfast and went shoe shopping with Herba before her release. When questioned over the tracksuit and trainers she was wearing when found, Ayling claimed she was handed them in a house near Turin. A shopkeeper later insisted she was with Herba when they were bought.

Ayling, from Coulsdon, south London, has previously denied any involvement in a kidnap or publicity plot. She revealed in September she is writing a book about the alleged kidnap, but has quit modeling.

Ayling’s former manager, Phil Green, told MailOnline: “Of course it wasn’t a sham. I said six weeks ago that Chloe was genuinely kidnapped and I still stand by that. Herba’s lawyer is in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks he is going to successfully defend his client by suggesting it was staged.”

Luke Browning (played by Adam Astill) was picked up and shoved in the vehicle by two masked men.

Many Walford residents may want to harm Luke considering his villainous plan to takeover the Square, but who was it?

Ben (Harry Reid) was viciously attacked by his ex-lover Luke in Friday’s episode, but he told Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) he was over it.

“Why should I get worked up about someone who doesn’t count any more?” he explained.

Phil Mitchell (Steven McFadden) looked on as Luke was seized by the unknown assailants, but it wasn’t clear if the attack was done on his bidding.

Following Ben’s assault, Phil was seen putting in a call to JP (Patrick Bergen) to ask for a favour on Monday.

It looks as though Phil is already returning to a life of crime given his secretive meetings with old cellmate JP and Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood).

Earlier in the episode, the three were seen once again plotting in the cafe.

Was it Phil who orchestrated the kidnapping, and if he did, what will happen to Luke?

The ITV show has dealt Michelle (played by Kym Marsh) a tough hand recently, after she was kidnapped and held in the boot of Will’s (Leon Ockenden) locked car. 

But while she and her partner Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) remained convinced the culprit was Robert’s old drug-dealing friend Rich (Fraser Ayres) after she was eventually rescued, the real person to blame was Michelle’s unassuming friend and ex. 

Will has been clearly obsessed with his past love and desperate to split her and Robert apart since he returned to the cobbles, and had thought that by framing Rich and inciting Robert’s rage the pair would row and subsequently break up.  

Instead, what he witnessed was the couple growing closer than ever after Robert mistakenly went and attacked Rich for his perceived actions. 

New pictures released by the soap now reveal that Will will attempt to spark the flames between him and his once-love again, starting with a drink in the Rover’s Return. 

But as he struggles to hold back, Will ends up making a grave mistake and pushes the fragile Michelle too far.

Intensely questioning her about the extent of Robert’s relationship with Rich, the Bistro business-woman becomes defensive and suspicious of his interest in her partner.

Could this be the moment Michelle realises that Will still has serious feelings for her and wants her all to himself? Or will she reason that Will is just worried for her wellbeing? 

Meanwhile, Eva Price’s (Catherine Tyldesley) revenge plot continues to heat up, as she began planning a double wedding with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) and his father Johnny (Robert Hawley). 

However, before she could get her way, Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) caught Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) making a move on the engaged blonde. 

Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV.
