The following story contains spoilers from The Undoing‘s entire six-episode run — proceed at your own peril Everyone has it out for Sylvia! Even though The Undoing‘s ‘Who Killed Elena’ murder mystery has been solved (the husband did it!), fans still seem hell-bent on tying Lily Rabe‘s Upper East Side muckraker to the crime, even if tangentially. At the very least she was sleeping with her BFF’s hubby, they postulate. For her part, Rabe completely understands why viewers have taken a sculpting hammer to her alter ego’s reputation. The American Horror Story vet also shared with TVLine the one Sylvia-relayed conspiracy theory she simply can’t get on board with, and reveals what it was like to work so closely with Nicole Kidman’s coats. TVLINE | We ran a poll in the days leading up to the finale asking readers who they think killed Elena. Sylvia won handily. And even though we now know Jonathan did it, I still see comments from people who believe she was somehow involved. Why do you think there has been, and continues to be, this cloud of suspicion over her? TVLINE | Viewers had a field day reading into the nod Sylvia gave Jonathan in the courtroom when he was being arraigned in Episode 3. What did the nod mean to you? TVLINE | Yes. Someone suggested that Sylvia was the younger sister he claimed died in the car accident, and she’s been keeping her real identity a secret from Grace all these years. TVLINE | One thing that that seemed off to me about Sylvia was how much pleasure she seemed to derive from all the drama swirling around Grace and the community. TVLINE | What was your working relationship with Nicole like? RELATED STORIES
Listen, early on Sylvia kept some information from Grace [about how she covertly represented Jonathan in his firing from the hospital]. For a lot of people, that kind of betrayal is enough for people to question that friendship and question Sylvia’s integrity. And I understand why. The rules of what we share and what we omit out of love are so subjective and complicated. I don’t think I could’ve kept that [secret] from my closest friends. And I think I would’ve felt incredibly betrayed if someone had done it to me. But I also understand why she made that choice at the time. She didn’t think it would help Grace. And she had a professional obligation; it was privileged information. But that put her on [fans’ murder] watch list.
“I’m watching you. You’re not safe with me. I don’t trust you. And I’m here with clearer eyes.” And I think there’s also a moment of, “Please let this not be the truth. You are someone that I loved” — and I do not mean that romantically. [Laughs]
TVLINE | Fans have floated some interesting conspiracy theories about Sylvia’s possible involvement in the murder, beyond the obvious one about her having an affair with Jonathan. There was one about her being in cahoots with Franklin, another about her being Jonathan’s little sister who never actually died…
That one is new to me. I knew about the affair with Jonathan. I also knew that there was a theory that Franklin and I were in cahoots — which I liked. Sylvia has known Franklin since she was born; their families summered together. And I think they had a bond and a likeness of spirit. We sort of imagined that during those summers when everyone went to bed they were probably the last two that stayed out late finishing the second bottle of wine. I love all of the theories. I love the way people are watching the show. [Pauses] Wait… that I’m Jonathan’s sister?!
Hmm… I don’t know about that one. The rest of them I can [get on board with]. That one is really a stretch though. [Laughs]
That’s how she moves through this world. And I don’t mean this in a sort of manipulative way, but that’s how she collects information. It does light her up. She wants to be the first to know the truth — and she is the first to know in a lot of ways. She is the person a lot of people come to with information. And she doesn’t necessarily give it away, but she has to be sparkly about it otherwise people wouldn’t keep her in that position. It gives her power. I don’t think there’s any glee in the fact that Elena was killed, but [she revels] in the upset it brings to the community. Like when Elena was breastfeeding her daughter at the [auction] meeting [in the premiere] — that was something that just doesn’t happen. And I think Sylvia loves that. She loves when things are pushed off balance. She thrives on it. And sometimes she nudges it. She’s a pot-stirrer. But that doesn’t mean that she’s sleeping with her best friend’s husband. Or killing anyone. [Laughs]
TVLINE | A lot has been made of Grace’s coats. You had the benefit of seeing many of them up close. Were they as resplendent in person as they appeared to be on TV?
Yes. And more. They were bananas. They really were like characters. They felt like fairytale coats. In the sea of New York and in the chaos of what is happening, there are these coats. They was so brilliant, particularly the [green and eggplant ones]. And they were a little off-kilter. They weren’t like the perfect, gorgeous Max Mara Upper East Side coat that I was wearing. They were a little more off-center, which was so delicious and perfect.
I love her. She is such an incredible woman, generous friend and scene partner. What a wonderful thing it was to fall in love with her, as Sylvia. And I don’t mean romantically! People are going to come up with a whole new theory. [Laughs] I mean in the way we fall in love with friends. And the way you fall in love over and over again in our friendships and relationships. And that’s what happens here. It really could’ve gone in a different direction with [Grace and Sylvia]. But they get through it. And by the end they are linking arms. But there’s no one like Nicole. She is amazing.

While shooting on location on the eastern tip of Long Island last year, Bier says she wanted Grace and Jonathan’s alternately terrifying and gut-wrenching “reunion” to take place during the haunting glow that only dusk could provide.
“There’s a half-hour period where the light actually has a blue color,” the auteur explains to TVLine. “And I decided, very unwisely, [to] shoot that scene [in that tight window]. And it’s a huge, friggin’ emotional scene. So we rehearsed it and we rehearsed it and then we waited for the light to kind of come down and we started shooting. We literally had a half-hour to shoot that whole scene.”
In the sequence, Grace is jolted when her fugitive hubby Jonathan — whom she just learned has been living a double life and maybe-possibly murdered his mistress — violently grabs her from behind, covers her mouth and proceeds to profess his innocence. When he finally releases his hand and Grace is allowed to speak, she unloads a torrent of anger, fear and grief on him.
Bier says she was blown away by the duo’s performances. “They both just went for it in a kind of crazy, crazy way,” she recalls, before adding of Kidman, “Here’s the thing about Nicole — she can go on forever. She’s unbelievable. I could have theoretically asked her to do that scene 15 times and she would have delivered an equally strong performance [each time]. But because of that whole crazy endeavor of shooting with the light coming down, I think, as far as I remember, we shot it three times.”
Below, Kidman shares her POV on shooting the emotional roller coster that was Episode 2.
TVLINE | Susanne told me you only had a half-hour to lock that final porch scene. Do you operate well under that kind of pressure?
I was pretty strung out by that stage, [just by] the nature of being in a whole series and the emotional journey that Grace goes on. It was interesting because it was so palpable. Hugh and I were both strung out. So the idea that there was this clock ticking… we just had to jump in and do it. I am very much a performer who goes, “OK, let’s do it. Let’s capture the magic, if there is any.” And that’s what we had to do in that regard. There were some questions about blocking, but once we were off and running we were in it. Susanne is rigorous. She pushes you, which is fantastic, because it [elevates] the quality. And also the location was gorgeous. It was isolated and bare and very Scandanavian in a strange way.
TVLINE | The scene requires you to go to so many different places emotionally in the span of just a few minutes. How did you thread that needle?
When someone disappears and there are all of these things that they have done to you — the lies — you have so many questions and there’s so much anger. Your whole life is completely ravaged, but [at the same time]… she is in love with him. So the desire for him to be telling the truth. The desire for him to not have done it is the underlying thing with her. To hear him say, “I had an affair but I didn’t do it. I did not kill this woman.” And for her it’s like, “Please let this be true. I’m so furious at you. You have destroyed everything and how dare you have an affair but My God you didn’t kill a person and I didn’t think you did.” Those are the things that are colliding. But then also you betrayed me, you destroyed our life, you destroyed our sons’ life, you are a liar… It’s a cataclysmic collision of emotions and intellect. And then there’s, “Are you going to kill me?!”
TVLINE | Grace had a day from hell. I mean, the hits just keep coming…
It’s horrible. All of it. It’s awful. [Laughs] They were lying in bed having a beautiful morning a day prior. [She’s like], “How can you do this to me? I trusted you with my life. I trusted you with my heart. I trusted you.” And it’s all just shattered. When I first read [the script] I didn’t realize what it was going to take for it to be completely real. And I also didn’t know that Susanne was gonna shoot it the way she shoots it where she almost goes into my head. It’s like, “Oh my God you’re inside me.”
TVLINE | Did it make you uncomfortable when she said, “OK, I’m going to shoot an extreme close-up of your eyeballs.”
I just want to do true work. I want to work with someone who is going to mine and explore and put all of their passion [into a project]. I want to work with artists. So I am totally open to people who have that same passion and that same desire. I’m really attracted to it and I desire it and I feel very safe when I am with somebody like that. What I don’t like is when I work with someone that is a bit nonchalant and doesn’t really care. Then I’m like, “This is not the right combination.” Because I’ll go home and night and my dreams will be affected and my whole life gets affected. But that’s my artistic choice and that’s my commitment to what I do. And Susanne is like that. So I was like, “Whatever you need to do to tell this story so that people will feel it. Not just watch it from a distance but go on a journey and feel it.” That’s what we hoped for.

The Undoing and Big Little Lies share a network (HBO), a writer (David E. Kelley), a star (Nicole Kidman) and a conceit (wealthy moms in crisis!). But that’s pretty much where the project’s similarities begin and end, maintain Kidman and her Undoing director Susanne Bier.
The fact that Bier has a “very different” visual style than Big Little Lies‘ respective Season 1 and 2 helmers, Jean-Marc Vallée and Andrea Arnold, allows The Undoing to stand on its own, Kidman tells TVLine, adding, “That’s the beauty of great filmmakers.”
Bier acknowledges that she had seen both seasons of Big Little Lies prior to taking on The Undoing. “I liked it a lot, but it’s definitely very different,” the Night Manager auteur maintains. “I think one of the reason why it gets compared a lot to [BLL] is that David E. Kelley writes [female characters] really well.”
Another parallel between the two dramas: Like The Undoing, Big Little Lies was initially conceived as a limited series. It would, of course, go on to a see a second season. And talk of a potential third season is picking up steam, especially with Kidman making the media rounds for The Undoing. The Oscar and Emmy winner recently divulged to Marie Claire Australia that Kelley and BLL author Liane Moriarty “have a really good idea for” a third season.”
Kidman tells TVLine that the pair shared “a tidbit” of that idea with her, but she’s reluctant to share it because “you never know what it will end up as.”
For her part, she’s game to head back to Monterey. “I would like there to be [a Season 3],” she enthuses. “There are so many great stories to tell and I am open to all the different horizons. I think it would take an enormous amount of commitment from all of us. We all love each other and want to work together. We’re deeply intertwined now. There’s this enormous pull from this desire to just be together.
“Whether that [camaraderie yields] a story that will be fascinating and complex and important, that’s a different thing,” she continues. “It would need to be a story that makes our jaws drop.”

Hunters assassin Tiffany Boone has set her sights on a new premium drama.
The actress will join the cast of Hulu’s upcoming Nine Perfect Strangers, our sister site Deadline reports. The series adaptation is based on the novel of the same name by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty and stars Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy.
Nine Perfect Strangers — which earned a straight-to-series order in April 2019 — takes place at a swanky health and wellness resort called Tranquillium where nine frazzled city dwellers go to unwind. Kidman will play the resort’s director, Masha, who may not be exactly what she seems. Boone will portray Delilah, one of Masha’s employees.
The cast also includes Samara Weaving (Hollywood), Luke Evans (The Alienist), Melvin Gregg (American Vandal), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) and Grace Van Patten (Maniac).
Boone is no stranger to streaming adaptations of buzzy books: She also played the younger version of Kerry Washington’s Mia in Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere. In addition to Hunters, her TV resume includes The Following, The Chi, Once Upon a Time, Southland, Major Crimes and Grey’s Anatomy.
David E. Kelley will executive-produce Nine Perfect Strangers, as well as serve as co-writer and co-showrunner with John-Henry Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow). Moriarty also will executive-produce.

An Aquaman trailer should be swimming online any day now, but in the meantime, a new Entertainment Weekly magazine cover offers our first official look at Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as villain Black Manta . Check out the Aquaman images below.
Up until now, official images from Aquaman have primarily focused on Jason Momoa sans shirt. Now, Entertainment Weekly has provided us with the first look at Nicole Kidman as Aqauman’s mother, Queen Atlanna. Amber Heard‘s Mera is also on hand as well.
Yep, that definitely looks like Nicole Kidman under the sea. And in a shocking twist, Aquaman is wearing a shirt! Up is down, black is white, cats and dogs, living together, mass hysteria! Aquaman is the latest entry in the ever-changing DCEU, and the first film to follow-up the less-than-great Justice League. James Wan helms the superhero film, which stars Momoa as the half-human/half-Atlantean super-bro.
In addition to the cover, EW also has our first look at Aquaman villain Black Manta, played by The Get Down’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
“He’s part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space,” James Wan says of the character. Wan goes on to say that while Black Manta is a villain in the film, he’s not the main villain. That would be Patrick Wilson, playing King Orm:
“Black Manta is a really interesting character who is somehow factored into this story but our main story is about Jason and Patrick.”
Elsewhere in the EW story, Wan teases a superhero film unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. He also assures us the underwater effects in the film will be a lot cooler than what we saw on display in Justice League, which featured a scene where Aquaman and Mera go inside a giant bubble to have a conversation. “The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film,” says Wan. “This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action.”
I’ll confess I wasn’t overly impressed with Momoa’s take on Aquaman in Justice League, but he’s a likable enough actor that I’m willing to see how he does in his own film. For his part, executive producer Peter Safran can’t say enough nice things about Momoa and his take on the character:
“Rarely has a superhero character been married to the real-life actor as much as Aquaman and Jason Momoa…He’s authentically from two worlds, he’s this real physical specimen, he’s got this humor which he’s never been allowed to play before — in every regard he is Aquaman.”
Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman, dives into theaters on December 21, 2018. Keep an eye out for the inevitable trailer.

Nicole Kidman just received a full-blown makeover, and she could totally pass as Celeste Wright’s mother.
The Big Little Lies star made us do a double take when she stepped out in New York City wearing prosthetic makeup and a gray wig on the set of her upcoming film The Goldfinch, based on the novel by Donna Tartt. In the movie, Kidman plays Mrs. Barbour, a wealthy woman who takes in Theo (Ansel Elgort) after his mother dies.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

The Australian actress is no stranger to nudity in her movies.
She often chooses provocative roles and is fearless in exposing her body and her emotions on camera.
Her role in the disturbing The Killing Of A Sacred Deer marks one of her forays into psychological horror. Kidman and Farrell play a married couple whose lives take a terrifying turn when they befriend a troubled young man.

The sex scene is a moment of relief from the eerie building terror and tension.
Kidman turned 50 this year, but remains one of the great big screen sirens and shows of her sensational figure as she whips off her bra and rolls around seductively on the bed.
She also beguiled audiences in the smash hit TV series BIg Little Lies, playing another beautiful but tormented wife.
The Killing Of A Sacred Deer is the latest movie from writer/director Yorgos Lanthimos.
Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman star alongside Barry Keoghan as the terrifying young man, with Alicia Silverstone as his mother.
Farrell is a surgeon and Keoghan plays the son of a patient who died on his operating table who exacts a cruel and horrifying revenge on his family.
NICOLE KIDMAN IS NAKED IN TITILLATING BATH SCENE FROM CONTROVERSIAL FILM
Kidman is no stranger to controversial sex and nude scenes in her movies.
In 2004 there wa san uproar when she shared a bath with a 10-year-old boy in the movie Birth.
Eight years later she hit headlines after the release of The Paperboy. The star claimed she did not even remember shooting some of the sex scenes until the movie came out. One particular scene invloved her character urinating on co-star Zac Efron.
HBO has given us an early Christmas present: Big Little Lies is officially returning for another season, TVLine has confirmed.
The hit miniseries’ story will continue with a seven-episode Season 2, with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon returning to star and executive-produce. Shailene Woodley, who starred alongside Kidman and Witherspoon in Season 1, is not confirmed to return, but a statement from HBO says that “most of the cast is expected to return, and negotiations are underway.”
The Killing of a Sacred Deer is the latest from director Yorgos Lanthimos and co-writer Efthymis Filippou, whose earlier films walk a very thin line between dark comedy and total fucking existential despair. Their latest looks very much in that mold, with returning Lobster star Colin Farrell and his Beguiled co-star Nicole Kidman as a surgeon and wife whose delicate familial dynamic is upset by a peculiar 16-year-old boy (Barry Keoghan). That’s the plot I gathered from reviews, however; this is the best kind of teaser, in which precious little is revealed plot-wise, but we’re told everything we need to know about the picture’s mood, tone, and feel. Take a look:
Lanthimos’s work to date has been, to put it mildly, divisive; responses to Sacred Deer were much the same when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. The Los Angeles Times’ Justin Chang captured the scope of it in his review, which concluded: “The Killing of a Sacred Deer is sensationally well made, close to Kubrickian in its visual and sonic precision. It is also, to these eyes, an increasingly and dispiritingly empty provocation as it goes on… As the bleakest, most uncompromising expression of an auteur’s vision, the result is pretty much pure, unfiltered Lanthimos — and in the future I think I’ll take him impure and filtered, thank you very much.”
Judge for yourself when The Killing of a Sacred Deer hits theaters on October 27.

Two years after making his excellent directorial debut, The Gift, actor Joel Edgerton is getting back behind the camera for Boy Erased. His adaptation of Garrard Conley‘s memoir, “Boy Erased: A Memoir of Identity, Faith, and Family,” will star Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea) as Conley, the son of a Christian Baptist Minister who was pressured to go to a gay conversion program.
Below, learn more about the next Joel Edgerton film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boy Erased is going into production this fall. Focus Features will release the drama, which will star Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman as Conley’s parents. When Conley was 19 years old, in college, and living in Arkansas, he was outed to his parents. He either had to risk losing his family and friends or go to a conversion therapy program, called Love in Action, supported by the church.
Conley was actually offered the opportunity to write the adaptation of his story, but he turned it down. He thought it’d be better if an experience filmmaker wrote it. On his website, Conley wrote about his collaboration so far on Boy Erased and what to expect in a great post.
Here’s more information on his story and memoir:
The son of a Baptist pastor and deeply embedded in church life in small town Arkansas, as a young man Garrard Conley was terrified and conflicted about his sexuality.
When Garrard was a nineteen-year-old college student, he was outed to his parents, and was forced to make a life-changing decision: either agree to attend a church-supported conversion therapy program that promised to “cure” him of homosexuality; or risk losing family, friends, and the God he had prayed to every day of his life. Through an institutionalized Twelve-Step Program heavy on Bible study, he was supposed to emerge heterosexual, ex-gay, cleansed of impure urges and stronger in his faith in God for his brush with sin. Instead, even when faced with a harrowing and brutal journey, Garrard found the strength and understanding to break out in search of his true self and forgiveness.
By confronting his buried past and the burden of a life lived in shadow, Garrard traces the complex relationships among family, faith, and community. At times heart-breaking, at times triumphant, this memoir is a testament to love that survives despite all odds.
In a statement, Edgerton said he “can’t think of a better reason to get behind the camera again. His debut showed such confidence. He’s a strong storyteller who should handle Conley’s story with care. Edgerton will star in the film as well, playing the therapist leading the gay conversion program.
