  • Kevin O'Leary said volatility has returned to the stock market, adding it may be time to buy.
  • The "Shark Tank" star addressed uncertainty in markets about how aggressive the Fed will be.
  • "There's a bet going on in the market, you can see it as volatility," he said.

"Shark Tank" star and venture capitalist Kevin O'Leary said volatility has returned to markets, likely making it a good time to snap up stocks.

His comments to CNBC came after US stocks plunged Tuesday with the the Dow Jones Industrial Average losing more than 1,200 points to mark its worst day since June 2020. The sharp fall came after US inflation readings came in hotter-than-expected after August CPI rose 8.3%, higher than the anticipated 8.1%.

Tuesday's session marked the seventh one-day drop of 4% or more this year so far, as the Federal Reserve's tightening of monetary policy to fight inflation weighs on the broader stock market and causes investors to shun risk assets.

O'Leary however, suggests it's may be a good time to double down on cheap stocks after the slide.

"It's very disheartening to equity markets to lose close to 1,000 points in a matter of 40 minutes," O'Leary said.

"That means volatility is back. If you're an investor, maybe the best thing to do here is — since you can't guess the bottom — is to take opportunities on days like today and buy stocks that you think are attractive," he added.

O'Leary stressed a level of uncertainty in markets on how high the Fed is going hike the benchmark rate by to bring inflation down to its 2% target, as well as what the maximum end rate will be. The Fed funds rate is currently at a target range of 2.25%-2.50%.

"There's a bet going on in the market, you can see it as volatility. In fact, it may be significantly higher than 4%," he said, adding that central bankers are likely to approve another 75-basis-point increase at their September 20-21 meeting.

He added: "That level of uncertainty in terms of terminal rates, where the Fed will stop raising, is now officially an unknown. And so that's extremely problematic for the markets."

"When you have mixed signals, you don't have certainty, you have a hawkish Fed, you get correction. But if you're an investor like I am, you have to find stocks to put to work," he continued.

His approach to stocks, however, starkly contrasts growing investor pessimism on stocks. "Bond King" Jeff Gundlach believes it's time to get more bearish on US stocks as the risk of deflation next year grows.

The Crew’s Kevin James Weighs In on Kevin/Beth Cliffhanger: ‘I Don’t Know If I’m the Best One to Make Her Happy’ https://briefnews.eu/the-crews-kevin-james-weighs-in-on-kevin-beth-cliffhanger-i-dont-know-if-im-the-best-one-to-make-her-happy/ https://briefnews.eu/the-crews-kevin-james-weighs-in-on-kevin-beth-cliffhanger-i-dont-know-if-im-the-best-one-to-make-her-happy/#respond Sun, 21 Feb 2021 02:01:07 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-crews-kevin-james-weighs-in-on-kevin-beth-cliffhanger-i-dont-know-if-im-the-best-one-to-make-her-happy/

It’s the age-old question: Does absence make the heart grow fonder? The Crew‘s Kevin Gibson is about to find out.

In the Netflix comedy’s Season 1 finale, Kevin had the chance to tell Beth how he feels about her and ask her not to leave. Instead, he said nothing and wished her well as she set off for a new life in New York with businessman fiancé Frank.

Even after several talkings-to by best friends Chuck and Amir, Kevin just couldn’t bring himself to admit that he’d like to be more than friends with Beth — but why? “Because he cares for her,” Kevin James tells TVLine, point blank. “He realizes that he could plow forward and say, ‘Hey, don’t go. I want you to stay here,’ but maybe that’s not the best thing. I’m aware of my feelings [in that] moment, but I’m [not] sure that I’m the best one for her, to make her happy.”

As far as how James’ co-star Sarah Stiles read the scene, she says it’s highly unlikely Beth knew what Kevin came there to say.

“I don’t think in that moment that she has any idea that that is what’s going on with him,” she says. “She’s so wrapped up in Frank and the move, and it’s all so much information that she’s not seeing it. Normally, she would pick on it. But I do think over the years, Beth has had those [same] feelings for Kevin. I think she loves him so much that sometimes it gets a little confusing.”

Should The Crew return, James would like to see Kevin and Beth’s will they/won’t they relationship stretch over multiple seasons. That being said, it may go the other direction. “We may end up together right away,” James teases.

Kevin James Manages Motley NASCAR Crew in Netflix Comedy — Watch Trailer https://briefnews.eu/kevin-james-manages-motley-nascar-crew-in-netflix-comedy-watch-trailer/ https://briefnews.eu/kevin-james-manages-motley-nascar-crew-in-netflix-comedy-watch-trailer/#respond Fri, 15 Jan 2021 16:10:43 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/kevin-james-manages-motley-nascar-crew-in-netflix-comedy-watch-trailer/

NASCAR fans will have more than just the Daytona 500 to look forward to on Presidents’ Day weekend.

Netflix announced Friday that The Crew, a NASCAR sitcom headlined by Kevin James, will premiere Monday, Feb. 15 — one day after the big race.

The 10-episode comedy centers on Kevin, a NASCAR crew chief for the fictional Bobby Spencer Racing team. “When the owner (Rizzoli & Isles‘ Bruce McGill) steps down and passes the team off to his daughter Catherine (The Last O.G.‘s Jillian Mueller), Kevin has to protect himself and his crew from her attempts to modernize the team.”

Kevin is also concerned that Catherine is going to replace charismatic driver Jake Martin (Bridgerton‘s Freddie Stroma) with up-and-comer Jessie (Alexa & Katie‘s Paris Berelc). “Sponsors love the idea of getting a young woman behind the wheel — and unlike Jake, she knows as much about the cars as the mechanics,” according to the official logline.

Additional series regulars include Gary Anthony Williams (The Neighborhood) as Chuck, an old-school member of the crew with MacGyver-level skills; Dan Ahdoot (Cobra Kai) as Amir, the technologically savvy member of the crew; and Sarah Stiles (Billions) as Beth, who carries a torch for Kevin.

Sitcom vet Jeff Lowell (The Ranch, Two and a Half Men) serves as showrunner, and executive-produces alongside James, series director Andy Fickman (Kevin Can Wait, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2), Jeff Sussman (The King of Queens, Kevin Can Wait, both Paul Blart films), Todd Garner (Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2) and NASCAR’s Matt Summers and Tim Clark.

This Is Us’ Justin Hartley Weighs In on Kevin and Madison’s Insta-Family: ‘You Can’t Really Force Love’ https://briefnews.eu/this-is-us-justin-hartley-weighs-in-on-kevin-and-madisons-insta-family-you-cant-really-force-love/ https://briefnews.eu/this-is-us-justin-hartley-weighs-in-on-kevin-and-madisons-insta-family-you-cant-really-force-love/#respond Wed, 30 Dec 2020 22:38:54 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/this-is-us-justin-hartley-weighs-in-on-kevin-and-madisons-insta-family-you-cant-really-force-love/

RELATED STORIES

Justin Hartley was shooting This Is Us in New York City, in the cold last winter, when he got the good news: He was going to be an (onscreen) dad.

Series creator Dan Fogelman told Hartley and co-star Sterling K. Brown while “we were in the middle of a scene,” Hartley recalls. What would follow — Kevin and Madison’s one-night-stand that turned into two-very-real-babies — is “an amazing story,” he says. “I love the fact that it’s not your traditional ‘get married, have kids and then struggle with raising them.’”

Yet even the eternally sunny Kevin Pearson wouldn’t be able to ignore the fact that Madison and Kev aren’t exactly each other’s soulmate — at least, not yet. “It’s sort of an odd pairing, and they’re trying to make it work,” he notes. “They have an affection toward one another, but I don’t know how deep it is yet.”

When the NBC drama returns Tuesday (9/8c), its first 2021 episode will deal directly with that very question. (In a promo, Madison reminds Kevin that he said he was “all in” on his commitment to her and their imminent twins, and he replies with a hard-to-read “I know what I said.”)

TVLine recently got Hartley on the phone to talk about Kevin and Madison’s situation, what Rebecca’s increasing mental decline has to do with it, and more.

this-is-us-justin-hartley-interview-season-5-episode-5-TVLINE | Coming into Episode 5, is there any lingering doubt in Kevin’s mind about the path he’s forged with Madison? Or is he full steam ahead on “This is a good thing, and it’s all going to work out?”
I think the doubt is showcased in Kevin in fear. The fear that it might not work out. Gosh, I mean what if they can’t coexist together and be this cohesive unit that comes together and raises these kids, and he [only] sees them on the weekends? There’s all of that stuff. Probably, those are the things that keep Kevin awake at night. He said as much in the last episode. He sits there and stares at the ceiling and worries. All that worry comes from fear, the fear that it absolutely will not work out and that he’s trying to force something.

I’ve said this before: You can’t really force love. It doesn’t work. He’s also in a little bit of a predicament. It’s not like he’s dating a woman that he doesn’t want to be dating. He’s in a situation where she’s having his babies. And he has, his whole life, been bound by this idea that he wants to be what his father knew he could be. Because that was cut so short, Kevin doesn’t give himself the breaks that maybe he should. He doesn’t cut himself any slack… and then he finds himself in a bigger predicament. It’s not him messing up for the sake of messing up or being selfish, as we saw him do several years ago.

It’s that he puts a lot of stress and pressure on himself, and that sometimes can lead to the balloon popping, so to speak.

this-is-us-justin-hartley-interview-season-5-episode-5-TVLINE | It seems like the movie he’s currently filming is not going to help, with a hard-to-please director who has gone out of his way to let Kevin know he’s not going to pat him on the head. Tell me if you think I’m wrong, but it feels like Kevin has some impostor syndrome going on here.
I don’t think that’s overstated. I would say he’s going through yet another existential crisis. [Laughs] If I were his therapist, I would say you’ve got to prioritize the things in your life that are important to you and not live your life for other people. If you look at what he’s actually been able to accomplish, he’s dedicated to being an amazing dad and raising these kids together. Whatever that thing ends up being with Madison, he’s going to give it his all. His career is on track. This won’t be the last movie in the history of the world. Maybe you say no to the movie, or maybe you can do both. Maybe you don’t have to be there every waking moment of the babies’ lives. There are other things that you have to do.

You have to leave and go put food on the table. There are other things. Live your life for yourself a little bit. But I don’t know if Kevin does that. I think he’s so focused, and he’s on a mission. With a good heart, but just sometimes a little bit misguided.

TVLINE | I loved seeing Jamie Chung pop up as Kevin’s co-star in the film. Do you two have more scenes coming up?
I haven’t seen any. I don’t know if [the show] plans on shooting much of the movie. I guess it would depend on that.

this-is-us-justin-hartley-interview-season-5-episode-5-TVLINE | How clearly is Kevin seeing Rebecca’s level of mental decline right now? It can be a hard thing to accept.
I think that’s part of the stress. That’s why he’s eager to have these babies, and he wants his mom to meet the babies. Look, he’s aware that this decline is degenerative. It’s not going to get better. You have moments where it might be like, “She’s better today than she was yesterday. She’s better this week than she was last week.” But it’s a degenerative disease. There’s a fall-off. I think he wants to make sure that he has these babies and his mom meets them and spends as much time with them as she possibly can have. And also maybe that might actually…sometimes when you spend time around animals or babies or whatever it slows down the demise of your disease. So he’s definitely aware of all of that.

[In the pandemic], how are you…gosh, that’s a stressful thing, too. If you have these twins and I want them to meet Mom, but I can’t right now. It’s not safe. It’s like every single second you hear the clock ticking. Kevin’s got a biological clock, let me put it that way. [Laughs] Kevin is the only man alive that has a biological clock that’s ticking.

Mom Sneak Peek: Kevin Pollak Returns as Bonnie’s Ex Alvin — But How?!? https://briefnews.eu/mom-sneak-peek-kevin-pollak-returns-as-bonnies-ex-alvin-but-how/ https://briefnews.eu/mom-sneak-peek-kevin-pollak-returns-as-bonnies-ex-alvin-but-how/#respond Fri, 11 Dec 2020 16:16:21 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/mom-sneak-peek-kevin-pollak-returns-as-bonnies-ex-alvin-but-how/

Bonnie receives a visit from the Great Beyond in Mom‘s fall finale, when Kevin Pollak‘s Alvin turns up in her living room, nearly six years after his sudden death.

As longtime viewers will recall, Bonnie’s ex reentered her life late in Season 1, when Christy confronted her estranged father. Soon after Alvin and Bonnie reconciled, he suffered a massive heart attack and died in a devastating Season 2 episode (which earned Allison Janney a Performer of the Week nod).

This time around, Alvin turns up in a dream sequence to lend an ear to Bonnie, who is concerned for Adam’s safety when he decides to go skiing for the first time since his accident. TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek reveals the moment where Bonnie is first confronted by her ex, who is not at all surprised to see that she’s currently a mess.

Mom is five episodes into its post-Anna Faris era. Janney’s co-star revealed that she was leaving the CBS sitcom in September. In the wake of her departure, Christy was shipped off to Georgetown Law School, in Washington D.C., on a full scholarship.

“It’s a huge loss for the show to not have Anna because she was part of creating a character, Christy, that everyone fell in love with,” Janney said in a previous interview. “I think I’ll miss the most, for me, the relationship between Bonnie and Christy, even though that will still continue [off screen].”

Mom‘s fall finale airs Thursday, Dec. 17 (CBS, 9/8c), before new episodes resume in early 2021. In the meantime, hit the comments and let us know if you’re looking forward to Pollak’s return (and what you’ve thought of Season 8 so far).

Kevin Dobson, Knots Landing and Kojak Actor, Dead at 77 https://briefnews.eu/kevin-dobson-knots-landing-and-kojak-actor-dead-at-77/ https://briefnews.eu/kevin-dobson-knots-landing-and-kojak-actor-dead-at-77/#respond Mon, 07 Sep 2020 22:35:35 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/kevin-dobson-knots-landing-and-kojak-actor-dead-at-77/

Kevin Dobson, best known to TV audiences as Mack MacKenzie on the long-running Dallas spinoff Knots Landing, has died at the age of 77.

Dobson’s passing was confirmed by the United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County, on which he previously served as chairman. A cause of death has not been disclosed.

His big break came in 1968, when he was cast as Gov. Harrison Brooks on the daytime soap One Life to Live. He followed that up with episodes of The Doctors, Emergency, Ironside, Mod Squad, Police Story and The Rookies.

In 1973, he was cast in the series-regular role of Det. Bobby Crocker on the police drama Kojak, opposite Telly Savalas. More than a decade after the procedural wrapped, he reprised his role in the 1990 TV-movie Kojak: It’s Always Something.

In 1982, Dobson joined Knots Landing‘s fourth season as the aforementioned MacKenzie, a federal prosecutor who eventually wedded Michele Lee’s Karen Fairgate. He appeared in nearly 300 episodes, and stayed with the series for the duration of its 14-year run.

After Knots Landing, Dobson headlined the short-lived Canadian drama F/X: The Series, which ran for two seasons between 1996 and 1998. He also had brief stints on both CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful and NBC’s Days of Our Lives, and guest-starred on select episodes of FX’s Anger Management, Showtime’s House of Lies, and CBS’ Cold Case, Hawaii Five-0 and CSI.

“Bosses were shocked that somebody who has benefited so much from the show wants to walk away. But fame and fortune has obviously turned his head.

“He’s got a West End deal in place already and that’s going to take up most of his year so there was no persuading him to stay. His mind was made up,” they claimed.

During a conversation with BBC Radio 5 Live, Stacey opened up to host Nihal Arthanayake these suggestions and set the record straight, teasing what’s to come from Kevin.

Stacey replied sarcastically: “Kevin is obviously totally incapable of making decisions for himself, and so I swooped in.

Strictly 2019: Anton Du Beke and Kevin Clifton given new roles in major show shake-up https://briefnews.eu/strictly-2019-anton-du-beke-and-kevin-clifton-given-new-roles-in-major-show-shake-up/ https://briefnews.eu/strictly-2019-anton-du-beke-and-kevin-clifton-given-new-roles-in-major-show-shake-up/#respond Fri, 29 Nov 2019 14:45:14 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/strictly-2019-anton-du-beke-and-kevin-clifton-given-new-roles-in-major-show-shake-up/

Strictly Come Dancing is heading into musicals week as the contestants take on the 11th stage of the competition. The end is near and while the celebrities have been training hard, the pros have also been working on something rather special for their opening performance.

In true musical style, the celebrities partner’s will be dancing to the iconic Hello Dolly, on the BBC show.

And, Kevin Clifton and Anton Du Beke will not just be showing off their dancing techniques – but they’ll be singing too!

On Thursday night’s instalment of It Takes Two with Zoe Ball, the host gave viewers a sneak preview of what’s to come on Saturday night’s live show.

Zoe herself looked pretty excited as she introduced the footage, unable to hide a cheeky grin as she said: “Oo, it’s good!”

The video opened with Anton singing before Kevin came in with a louder note.

“Easy tiger,” Anton rolled his eyes as Kevin giggled.

Olivier award-winning choreographer Bill Deamer, has been putting the pros through their paces this week as they train for his “biggest” musical ever done on a Strictly live show.

“This is one of the biggest musicals I’ve ever worked on on Strictly,” he admitted.

“I’ve done quite a few, but this is huge.”

And, it seems the pros think the same.

“This has to be the most complex of dances we’ve done on Strictly in terms of steps and timings,” Aljaž Škorjanec confessed.

“There is so much going on in this routine,” Luba Mushtuk added.

However it seems like Anton has a little more work do before the big performance, that’s in less than two days.

“You’re going to sort of teach me a few things and show me the world,” Kevin suggested to his singing counterpart.

Taking his partners words seriously, Anton began singing the opening of their duet: “Out there,” he sang before stopping.

“What’s out there?” Kevin listened intently while they both looked out into the distance, pretending they were acting in the West End.

There was as short pause before Anton confessed: “I don’t know, I can’t remember the second line.”

Kevin roared with laughter as his fellow dancer looked worriedly into the camera lens.

Hopefully he’ll have learnt the tune by Saturday!

But we are yet to find out who will play the main character, Dolly, in the musical tribute, as Bill is keeping it very much under wraps until the weekend.

“I’ve always had a vision of doing Hello Dolly on Strictly,” he said.

“The question is, who’s going to be Dolly in our version? I’m not telling you!”

Well, viewers don’t have long to wait as the big performance is only a matter of hours away!

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC.

Kevin and (his maybe potential wife?) Cassidy finally come face-to-face in this week’s This Is Us and… what’s the opposite of a meet-cute? Because that’s how their first interaction unfolds. In fact, Cassidy even labels the whole interaction “creepy.” So order those save-the-dates now!

In other Pearson news, Toby’s slim-down secret is out, and Deja now knows about Malik’s daughter. Read on as we review what happens in “Unhinged.”

WHAT’S NICKY UP TO? | In a montage, we watch Nicky in his daily life after Kevin, Randall, Rebecca and Kate left him last time. He drinks in his trailer. He starts therapy at the Veterans’ Center. He hangs a photo of Baby Jack, sent by Kevin, on his refrigerator. He starts to talk more with his doctor. He puts away the booze, and he cleans up his place. Things are looking better!

Popular on TVLine

Then one day, the doctor he’s started to trust tells him she’s being transferred to Arizona. She assures him he’ll get a new therapist, but in his anger, Nicky barely hears her. He goes home and drinks, then returns to the center and throws a chair through a window — AKA the incident we saw in the season premiere, with Cassidy in the group session disrupted by the shattering glass.

He’s soon loaded into the back of a cop car, but he’s not too far gone to toss off a West Side Story reference (“You watch your head, Officer Krupke!) or to tell Kevin “I didn’t need you to come” when he shows up at the trailer with his houseplant.

This Is Us Recap SEason 4 EPisode 3 unhingedA LAUGHING MATTER | Through Kevin’s intervention, Nicky is allowed to stay at the center — though he’s on probation, and his new therapist warns Kevin that “None of us can help someone who doesn’t want to be helped.”

While Nicky is seeing the doctor, Kevin strikes up a conversation with a kid who’s also sitting in the waiting room. They wind up playing video games together and eating junk food from the vending machine, and that’s the scene that Cassidy walks in on when her own session is done. The vet is immediately wary about why a grown man would be so into hanging out with a kid, and though she recognizes Kevin from TV, she insults him greatly when she thinks he was a cast member on Who’s the Boss? instead of The Manny. And when Nicky joins them in the waiting room, she recognizes him, too. “You’re the guy who threw a chair at me!” she says, moments before he storms out and heads straight to the bar across the street.

Kevin angrily follows his uncle and announces that he needs an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting — and that Nicky is coming with him whether he likes it or not — and that’s how they find themselves sitting in an AA circle that also happens to include Cassidy. Kevin tells the group that when he’s tempted to drink (something that has happened frequently since his arrival in Pennsylvania) he repeats words that remind him of his nephew, who is his main reason for not wanting to lose his sobriety. The monologue starts earnestly but then devolves into Kevin-with-his-head-up-his-tush, and it ends when Cassidy and Nicky can’t take it anymore and dissolve into a fit of giggles that Kevin eventually joins.

This Is Us Recap Season 4 EPisode 3 UnhingedTHE NEW GUYS | In Philadelphia, Randall and Jae-won are basically best buds and co-workers who go running together and celebrate Randall being called “unhinged” in the local paper. (It’s a play on the fact that he’s literally taken his office door off its hinges and pledged to be available to his constituents whenever they need to talk.) Jae-won keeps asking Randall for a few minutes to talk about his proposal, but Randall keeps getting busy with other things — like spending all damn day listening to citizens’ complaints or rebuffing some serious attitude dished out by his assistant, who’s been around the council for years.

But when the assistant offers up one too many eyerolls and annoyed sighs, Randall finally confronts her about her attitude. She tells him he needs to focus more on buddying up with his fellow council members and less on listening to the populace, and that she doesn’t approve of Jae-won, who is naïve and not fit for the role of chief of staff. What’s more, she has the maintenance guy put Randall’s door back on its hinges. For a minute, it seems like Randall agrees with her. But then he thanks her for her service and fires her. When he meets up with Jae-won at the end of the episode, the younger man notes how they are naïve and they aren’t career politicians — and that’s the whole point. They’re not using city council as a stepping stone to a bigger gig, “This is the gig,” Jae-won notes, and Randall agrees. Then the two starry-eyed idealists finally discus Jae-won’s proposal… which turns out to be the marriage proposal he’s planning.

In related news: Malik swings by the Pearson place to tell Deja he has a daughter; he didn’t want her to hear about it in school first. He adds that he’s raising the baby because her mother and her parents wanted to put her up for adoption, but he and his parents didn’t. Deja confides in Tess about it; in turn, Tess admits that she kinda led one of her new classmates to believe she was straight, and now she feels bad.

This Is Us Recap Season 4 EPisode 3 UnhingedTOBY REVEALS HIS WOD BOD | When Kate arrives at a lunch where Toby is wooing prospective clients, she’s momentarily taken aback by how svelte he looks in his new suit. But she shakes it off and warmly greets his guests. Everything goes well until the hostess tries to seat their party in a booth, and she’s not willing to budge when Toby subtly asks to move to a table. It gets awkward, and then Kate just comes out and tells everyone that she won’t fit in the booth. The chagrined hostess quickly moves them all to a different area of the restaurant, but the damage is done.

At home, Toby is happy with how everything went, but Kate is focused on something else: She orders him to take off his shirt, and not in the sexytimes way. “Uh, holy crap,” she says when he’s topless, his “Popeye arms” on full display. He admits he’s secretly been doing CrossFit and didn’t tell her because he didn’t want her to feel bad about the weight she’s gained since Jack was born. He references his heart attack and how he doesn’t want to add to Jack’s burden by being a dad who could drop dead one day from weight complications. “Oh, like his mom might,” Kate says, clearly upset.

She goes outside to cry, catching the attention of their cranky new neighbor (hi, Psych‘s Timothy Omundson!), who’d previously grouched at her for the fact that Toby’s car often blocks the sidewalk. (A storage pod from the move is taking up most of their driveway, and it’s a whole thing.) Kate tearily explains that she’s got some stuff going on right now, and starts to go into detail when he stops her. “Sorry you’re having a bad day. I had a massive stroke two years ago,” he deadpans, adding that he had to re-learn basically every bodily movement, and he’s unemployed. “My only goal right now is to be able to walk one pathetic mile,” he says, and Toby’s car is impeding his daily walk around the block. After he vows to key the car if it’s in the same spot tomorrow, he turns and slowly limps back to his house. “This is me, storming away!” he snarks. “Don’t blink, you’ll miss it!” Heh.

Kate calms down and later tells Toby that she’s happy he’s getting healthier, but they can’t have any more secrets. He agrees. And the next morning, with the care well out of the way, she, Audio the dog and Baby Jack set out for a walk at the same time as their neighbor. They all end up strolling together.

This Is Us Recap Season 4 EPisode 3 UnhingedMIGUEL + JACK 4 EVA | In the past, 7th-grade Randall tries to impress a new teacher at his school, who hails from Chicago and is black, by wearing Air Jordans to class. But when his plan backfires and he gets written up for breaking dress code, he has a panic attack and calls home. Kevin — who, like Kate, is home because their school isn’t back in session yet — answers and bikes over to help his brother. He fakes Rebecca’s signature on the punishment slip and later, after learning that Randall has no idea who Arsenio Hall is, gets Jack and Rebecca to allow the kids to stay up and watch Hall’s late-night show.

At Jack’s work, the office is abuzz with news that an expensive new construction project didn’t have all of its permits lined up, so the foundation that’s already been poured will have to be ripped up — costing the firm a lot of money. Miguel gleefully remarks that whoever signed off on the project will probably get fired… and then he notices the sick look on Jack’s face.

Yep, Papa Pearson is the one responsible for the costly error. He goes straight to their boss to confess, and promptly is fired. When Miguel finds out, he marches back into the boss’ office and proclaims that if Jack is going, so is he — and as the top upper account manager, that will hurt the company, big-time. So the boss backs down, and Jack later calls his friend to thank him. “If you ever need anything big or small and I hear that you went to anyone other than me, I’m going to kick your sorry ass,” Jack tells him. Then they get as close to saying they love each other as two straight guys in the 1980s can (Miguel jokingly says it, Jack will not engage), and all is well.
