Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke are wigging out in the latest teaser trailer for their decades-spanning new Netflix drama Firefly Lane. Based on the novel of the same name by bestselling author Kristin Hannah (who serves as co-executive producer on the 10-episode series), Firefly Lane — which will premiere Feb. 3 — proposes that “the greatest love story of all can be between friends.” “When unlikely duo Tully (played by former Grey’s Anatomy doc Heigl) and Kate (onetime Scrubs doc Chalke) meet at age 14, they couldn’t be more different,” reads the synopsis. “Tully is the brash and bold girl you can’t ignore, while Kate is the mousy shy girl you never notice. But when a tragedy brings them together, they are bonded for life — forever inseparable best friends. Together they experience 30 years of ups and downs — triumphs and disappointments, heartbreak and joy, and a love triangle that strains their friendship. One goes on to fabulous wealth and fame, the other chooses marriage and motherhood — but through the decades, their bond remains — until it faces the ultimate test.” As you can see in the above teaser, Ali Skovbye (When Calls the Heart) and Roan Curtis (The Magicians) will portray the young versions of Tully and Kate, while Heigl and Chalke will embody the characters in the latter decades (with a little help from the hair department). The cast also includes Ben Lawson (Designated Survivor), Yael Yurman (The Man in the High Castle) and Beau Garrett (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce). Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End, Eastwick) serves as showrunner and will executive-produce along with Heigl, Peter O’Fallon, Shawn Williamson and Lee Rose. Scroll down to check out the official Firefly Lane poster. Clear eyes, full heart, can’t move. That’s the gist of Katherine’s mindset in this week’s A Million Little Things. The emotionally conflicted lawyer wants to relocate with her (formerly) cheating husband and son and make a fresh start in Texas… but she knows she can’t, because Eddie has vowed to be an integral part of his infant daughter’s Massachusetts-based life. What’s a bummed-out lawyer to do? How about a little role play and closet sex? In other less-than-ideal couples news, Maggie and Eric continue to grow closer, and Gary continues to grow suspicious of them. Read on for the highlights of “Austin.” HEADING WEST? | When a question about woolly mammoths and pterodactyls comes up during Theo’s bedtime, Katherine asks Eddie to fetch her iPad and look up the correct answer. But what he sees causes an Ice Age in his belly: Her browser displays searches for law jobs and homes for sale in Austin, Texas. Eddie is supremely bothered by the idea of his wife moving to the Lone Star State, but he says nothing. Correction: He says nothing to her. But he spills all of his worries to Gary and Rome while visiting Rome’s Lexus commercial shoot. “You’ve gotta talk to her about this!” Rome urges his friend. “Or, produce a commercial about the exact situation you’re not talking about, then have her visit the set,” Gary snarks. He’s referring to how Rome did precisely that with Gina, who did not know until she arrived on set that he’d rewritten the car ad so it featured a married couple who discussed their reproductive change of heart while sitting in a dealership. Papa Howard eventually apologizes in grand fashion — and wearing the dress uniform in which Mama Howard first fell in love with him, no less — but the whole incident makes Regina think. After Rome apologizes for the commercial, she says she wants to have a long marriage with him, but “I don’t want you to resent me, and I don’t want to resent you.” The solution, they both agree, is that they have to talk. Meanwhile, Maggie does stage the apartment with D, but that turns into talking about Chad’s heart, and that turns into her walking into Eric’s music shop and sobbing so hard about missing her brother that Eric immediately takes her into his arms. When she’s calmed, she tells him about her love for playing the piano but admits she hasn’t played since she got sick. He encourages her to go to an open mic night at a local piano bar, and even volunteers to sit in the front row “so you don’t get stage fright,” the way Chad used to when she was growing up. We also learn that Eric doesn’t play an instrument, and he took over the shop — which belonged to his fiancée, Chloe — after she died. Gary and Maggie do connect at home, later, but things are weird between them. “I want you to tell me what’s going on. Are we OK?” he asks, adding that she feels “very far away.” He says he wants to help her figure out who she is without cancer, but she gently turns him down, saying, “I love you. This is something I need to do myself.” Later, some tricky camera work makes us think Maggie is performing Pete Townshend’s “Let My Love Open the Door” at the piano bar, with Eric up front as promised — something that seems to irk Gary when he shows up after seeing an event flier that Maggie left in their kitchen. (He also found the folder of Maggie’s funeral instructions, leftover from her illness, which she’d reviewed earlier before tossing in the trash.) But Mags is actually playing for herself, in her old apartment (with some dramatic lighting): She never went to the club. GET READY FOR LIFTOFF | But what about Katherine and Texas? When Eddie confronts her about what he saw on the iPad, she immediately cops to thinking about a cross-country move. She wants to give their relationship a go somewhere that not everyone knows about their marital woes. But she also knows that he can’t and won’t leave Charlotte behind, so she’s resigned herself to staying put. As a consolation prize, Eddie takes her to attend an open house at the home across the street from theirs. (Side note: Yes, really.) While there, they pretend to be “Edward,” an astronaut, and “Kat.” They spin yarns about their life to the unsuspecting realtor. And when the agent goes downstairs for a few minutes, Kat gets Edward’s rocket to blast off in the master bedroom’s walk-in closet. Back at home, Eddie walks Katherine to her bedroom door, kisses her goodnight and tells her he loves her. Then, although he clearly doesn’t want to, he goes to sleep in another room. Now it’s your turn. What did you think of the episode? Hit the comments! Sarah Chalke is scrubbing in as Katherine Heigl’s BFF. The Scrubs/Roseanne vet has been tapped as the co-lead in Firefly Lane, Netflix’s 10-episode series adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s best-selling book, TVLine has learned. Firefly Lane centers on two inseparable best friends — legendary talk show host Tully (Heigl) and the awkward and shy Kate (Chalke) — and tracks their enduring, complicated bond over the course of four decades, as they weather career ups and downs, love triangles, marriage and divorce, and countless dramas along with way. Throughout their lives, the one constant they have is each other: partners in crime, platonic soulmates, always up for their next adventure. Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End) serves as writer/showrunner/exec producer. Stephanie Germain, Lee Rose and Heigl are also EPs, while Hannah is a co-EP. Peter O’Fallon (UnREAL) will direct the premiere. While Meghan Markle has retired to her new life as a Royal, Suits is continuing to ramp up its drama with a new character. It was announced earlier on this year that Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine will be replacing Meghan and her costar Patrick J Adams after their departure. The pair got married in the season finale, ending the arc of Meghan’s character Rachel Zane. Meanwhile the recent trailer hinted at Katherine’s character Samantha Wheeler and her aggressive demeanour, the star has now spoken out about her arrival. She revealed that Samantha is “muscling in” on Spencer Litt in the coming episodes. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Katherine explained: “She’s kind of having fun messing with everybody. They’re just not having as much fun – yet.” She also spoke about the upcoming relationship that Samantha will build with managing partner Harvey Specter (played by Gabriel Macht) – however it won’t be entirely friendly. Katherine continued: “The fact that Donna can’t quite put her finger on Samantha is really fun to play. “Our first scene together was just like that – she’s trying to figure out Samantha, and Samantha’s not really giving much of anything away. “She feels like a woman who has sort of reached that point in her life where she knows who she is, what she wants, and how to go about getting it. “She’s not apologetic at all, which I kind of love.” Katherine also announced that she was a fan of the legal drama before she got the part. She went on to confess that she was “thrilled” to be a part of the show. Meghan is also being replaced by a character who has appeared on the show for some time. It has been reported that Amanda Schull, who plays Katrina Bennett, is set to become a series regular. Amanda has maintained recurring role status since season two where her character initially worked as an associate. Since then Katrina has become a junior partner, and has since helped Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) with his sexual harassment lawsuit. Meghan previously told the BBC: “I don’t see [my engagement] as giving anything up, I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter. “I feel really proud of the work that I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work as a team [with Harry].” Suits is available on Netflix now.RELATED STORIES

“How could you not run that by me?” Gina later asks, still angry but holding it down so she and Rome can have a celebratory anniversary lunch with his parents at Someday. To mark 50 years together, Rome’s father gives his mother the Alaskan cruise she’s always wanted… but he’s so negative about the whole thing that they fight and he leaves.
A MINOR KEY | If that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the advice Gary dished out earlier… and could stand to apply to his own relationship. Maggie skips out on their breast-cancer-survivor support group, saying she’s got to stage her apartment with Delilah so they can get someone in there. But the other women at the group tell Gary what he already knows: Maggie just doesn’t want to be there, and she’s figuring out her own way through the complicated emotions that surviving a fatal disease can bring up. “She wants to move on,” one woman tells him.
PICTURE IMPERFECT | Over at the Dixon household, Delilah calls the family photographer (hi, Spin City and pretty much every other show’s Richard Kind!) and asks him to take a new shot of them for Charlotte’s birth announcement. The photographer doesn’t know Jon died, and he takes the news hard. But he shows up… just in time for Danny to decide that he doesn’t want to be part of a new family shot that doesn’t include Jon. Eventually, Delilah summons all of their friends — and Gary’s dog, Colin — and they take a big group shot of their family, which she uses on the cards.

Katherine Heigl is pulling no punches on the set of Suits. The Grey’s Anatomy alum — who is joining the USA Network legal drama as a series regular in Season 8 — shared the first photo of her in character as attorney Samantha Wheeler on Tuesday.
“Day 2 on the set of Suits getting my hands wrapped for a kickboxing scene,” Heigl wrote alongside the below image. “My character is no shrinking violet! She’ll kick your [ass] in the ring and in the courtroom! Love playing a girl with gumption!”
The USA Network, which is behind Suits, announced earlier this year that Knocked Up and Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl, 39, would be joining the cast and replacing Meghan Markle.
She was confirmed as a new member of the legal team called Samantha Wheeler.
Speaking about signing up to the long-running programme, Heigl said: “Joining Suits was the perfect, organic way to not only collaborate with an EP I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of.”
She added to Variety: “I have watched Suits from the very beginning.
“And feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”
It seems highly unlikely that Heigl will appear in Suits season seven as it appears that filming has wrapped up on the run.
The earliest that she would appear in Suits would probably be in season eight, which would most likely see the introduction of her character.
While there’s no confirmed release date for season eight, it could be as soon as summer this year.
Judging by previous Suits season premiere dates, the eighth run could be hitting screens in either June or July 2018.
Just like its predecessors, season eight will probably consist of 16 episodes.
So Suits fans could be seeing Samantha on screens as early as this year in the opening of season eight.
Joining Heigl will be The West Wing and Psych actor Dulé Hill as Alex Williams, who is an attorney.
He knows Harvey Specter (played by Gabriel Macht) and is a partner at law firm Bratton Gould before he’s hired by his old friend.
Hill, 42, has a recurring role in Suits season seven but will be promoted to a cast regular in the forthcoming run.
Suits will reunite Hill and Heigl, who previously starred together in another courtroom drama called Doubt.
The second half of season seven will air in America on The USA Network on March 28, before dropping on the streaming platform for those outside of the region.
Netflix has confirmed that Suits season seven will be returning on March 29 for fans in the UK to watch.
Season seven of Suits will mark the last one for Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams, who play couple Rachel Zane and Mike Ross respectively.
Suits season 7, Part B airs on Netflix on March 29.
Katherine Heigl is laying down the law again: The ex-Doubt attorney is joining Suits as a series regular, TVLine has learned. Heigl’s casting comes a day after USA Network renewed the long-running legal drama for an eighth season — its first without original cast members Patrick J.Adams and Meghan Markle.
The Grey’s Anatomy vet will star as Samantha Wheeler, a talented new partner at Pearson Specter Litt who “challenges the status quo and will either become the firm’s greatest ally or most powerful enemy.” She joins an ensemble that includes returning series regulars Gabriel Macht (Harvey), Sarah Rafferty (Donna), Rick Hoffman (Louis) and her former Doubt co-star Dulé Hill (Alex).
Which beauty products do you swear by?
I’ve always struggled with sensitive skin then I found the Skinesis range by Sarah Chapman, which clean well without irritating my skin.
What’s always in your make-up bag?
Sarah Chapman has a lip base and tint that look nice together. Also a powder by Laura Mercier.
What’s your best beauty tip?
Floss! I spent a lot of time in America as a child and we were encouraged to floss our teeth.
Which women do you consider beautiful?
My mum Anne is still beautiful in her early sixties. I think you get the face you deserve in the end, and she’s just goodness.
What’s your signature fragrance?
Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir is the only perfume I wear that anyone comments on. It’s fruity and musky, not flowery or heavy.
How do you pamper yourself?
I do like going to the hairdresser. They really pamper me.
What exercise do you do?
I’ve never had a personal trainer before, but they got us one for Strike Back who made us lift weights. Working out has made me much stronger.
What are your favourite designer labels?
Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, but for the red carpet I have a friend, James Steward, who does all my frocks. He knows what I like.
What’s the most you’ve ever spent on an item of clothing?
I bought a Mulberry bag five years ago and I’m still using it. Being a Yorkshire girl, I calculate value for money and I’ve used it so much it’s paid for itself.
What’s your favourite boutique or shop?
Hush. I love their stuff and have to try hard not to buy the entire season. They do good-quality clothes that are not overpriced.
Strike Back is on Tuesdays at 9pm on Sky One.
This is me on the left with my sister Sarah, who is 20 months older, at our grandparents’ house in Aberdeen.
We always spent summer holidays with them and Gran was from that generation that was habitually baking, cooking and making things.
She made the cowboy costumes we’re wearing. We adored being there and spending time with them.
My competitive spirit has always been there and I benefited hugely from having a big sister I could accompany to swimming, lifesaving, badminton, tennis and ski club.
It didn’t feel scary going to new things, because she was there. And once there, I felt I should be as good as she was.
I struggled to keep up, but it never occurred to me that I shouldn’t compete against her. Mum says it started the minute my eyes could focus: they clamped on to Sarah and I attempted to copy her in everything. Sarah was torn. She hated beating and upsetting me but also harboured a deep desire to win.
As the younger sibling, however, I had no such qualms about wanting to finish on top.
When we were growing up, Sarah was good at everything.
She also had a laid-back and generous nature and always had lots of friends and countless boyfriends. On Valentine’s Day, the majority of cards and all the flowers would be for her. Mind you, Sarah hasn’t always had things easy either.
When we were kids, the local bully, a deceptively sweet and innocent-looking girl, made her life a misery whenever she could, particularly on the way to and from school.
To Sarah’s immense credit, she didn’t rise to the baiting or react in any physical way, but I hated seeing her beaten down by the verbal abuse. If I’d intervened, it would have simply made the situation worse and Sarah would have hated me for trying, but the anger, frustration and sense of unfairness has never left me.
Now we’re adults, Sarah is still the first person I call when times get tough.
It was a very difficult year leading up to the Rio Olympics and she knows better than anyone what happened behind the scenes.
We’re used to seeing the great success stories, the positive headlines and the wonderful results, but there are a lot of lows that people don’t see – the day-to-day stress and exhaustion, the pressure of selection, not knowing if you’re part of the team or whether you’ll be any good on race day.
As an athlete you don’t want to show insecurity and doubt in front of your teammates, whereas with my sister I can be incredibly honest about the struggles and injuries I’ve had. Even if I try to cover up something on the phone, she’ll know, just by the tone of my voice, that I’m keeping something back.
Without pushing in an uncomfortable way, she can always get to the source of my problems.
Even though she’s a hard-working teacher, she’s very generous with her time and understanding, so it’s easy to open up and share things with her.
But it’s not just that she gives me big-sisterly support and reassurance. She can be practical and tough, too, and gives me the blunt truth when I need to hear it.
She’s the balance to everything for me, whether it’s good or bad, soft or hard – all those contrasts you need in life.”
