Manchester United came from behind to secure a surprise 2-1 win over Juventus away from home.

Cristiano Ronaldo had fired Juventus in front with his stunning second-half volley which left David de Gea with no chance.

However, Juan Mata equalised four minutes from time with a brilliant, curling free-kick.

Staggeringly, Alex Sandro netted an unfortunate own-goal to give United an unexpected victory over the Serie A side.

And, clearly delighted with his side’s victory, Mourinho couldn’t resist taunting the home crowd.

The Manchester United boss was filmed cupping his ear as he celebrated the win which infuriated the home side.

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci was fuming with Mourinho’s celebration and quickly ran towards the Old Trafford boss to challenge his behaviour.

Mourinho was quickly shepherded off the pitch before tensions could rise any further.

But Mourinho’s taunts didn’t sit well with former Red Devils ace Paul Scholes.

“This is everywhere he goes,” he said on BT Sport. “You need to win with a bit of class sometimes, shake the managers hand.

“I don’t think there’s any need for it but that’s the way he is.”

Meanwhile Owen Hargreaves took a differing view.

“No it’s not necessary but I think this game is a remarkable result really,” Hargreaves said.

“Nobody thought (it would happen). And obviously the derby on Sunday, it’s a big week for United and Mourinho.”

But BT presenter Gary Lineker agreed with Scholes, saying: “Sometimes it’s ‘all about me’.

“Of course he’s been under pressure, it’s totally understandable, you’ve won.

“But sometimes you think…”

Following the win, Jose Mourinho hailed his side for fighting back in Turin and explained his taunts.

“The game was a very good game. It was top,” he said.

“We performed at a high level. We had about five minutes after that goal to wake up again but the team was there until the last.

“On a beautiful Italian day, I made a little thing.

“I know millions are happy with the win. But I respect Juventus and the quality they have.

“I am really proud of my boys because they did everything.

“A couple of our boys said in the interview at home that they were a little bit [makes gesture]… We had to come and not feel inferior.

“We were in a situation where we thought we needed to go to the last second of the match. The boys started really well and things were under control.”

De Gea is widely recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

And the Spaniard has had another impressive season for Manchester United despite keeping just three clean sheets.

United have been trying to tie De Gea down to a long-term deal for several months but talks have not resulted in an agreement.

De Gea’s current deal ends in the summer but United have the option to extend this by a further year.

But according to The Times, Juventus are keeping a close eye on De Gea’s situation.

Mourinho was asked about De Gea’s contract issue and the United boss admitted he has doubts over whether a renewal will be sorted.

“I am not confident,” he told Sky Sports.

”I cannot find the word in English, but let’s see what happens.

“Only the club, David and his people can answer that.

“My comment is only that everyone knows how good he is, how important he is for Manchester United and, if the club want to be better than it is and not worse, obviously it would be very important to keep David.”

Wojciech Szczesny became Juventus’ No 1 stopper this season following Gianluigi Buffon’s transfer to PSG.

But a United insider told The Times: “De Gea played against his future club on Tuesday. Juve are an expert in intelligent deals.

“If United don’t sell him in the summer, Juventus will wait until the end of his contract.”

De Gea has been consistently linked with Real Madrid but a move to the Bernabeu appears unlikely after Thibaut Courtois joined in the summer.

He saw a move to the Bernabeu fall through in 2015 when a faulty fax machine scuppered a deadline-day deal at the 11th hour.

De Gea signed a new United contact less than a month later, ending speculation over his future until now.

Ronaldo will play at Old Trafford on Tuesday night for just the second time when his Juventus side takes on Manchester United in the Champions League.

The Portuguese star 118 times in 292 appearances for United.

And he won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups and the 2008 Champions League under Ferguson.

In May, Ferguson had emergency brain surgery but has since recovered and received a standing ovation on his return to Old Trafford in September.

Speaking in his press conference, Ronaldo was asked about coming back to his former club and sent a message to Ferguson.

“Emotional, I can remember what it was like when I was at Manchester,” he told reporters.

“I won lots of trophies here. I remember the support as well, the support was fantastic.

“Here I have many memories of victories and affection and in particular with Sir Alex Ferguson, to whom I send a big hug.

“He is a person who helped me so much.”

Juventus are top of the group over United after two wins in the competitions.

And Ronaldo is confident of making it three from three.

“It will be a difficult game. We know Manchester United have a good team. They are playing at home,” he said.

“It will be tough, but we have our weapons.

“We are Juve, so we know it is going to be tough but we have chances.

“I know if we play good, if we play the way the coach wants, I think we have a good chance to win the game.

“But we have to respect Manchester United because they are a fantastic team.

“They have an experienced coach, so I expect that Juve will win the game.”

Cristiano Ronaldo will be available to play for his Italian soccer team on Saturday.

Ronaldo, who is facing a rape allegation in the United States, could play when Juventus faces Udinese in the Italian league, according to coach Massimiliano Allegri. However, he would not definitively say Ronaldo will start.

"Cristiano's doing well. I've known him for three months, but I can say that in his 15 years of his career he has shown great professionalism and seriousness both on and off the field," Allegri said Friday. "In regard to tomorrow, he is ready to return to action."

Kathryn Mayorga filed a lawsuit last week in Nevada saying she was raped by Ronaldo in Las Vegas in 2009. Police have also re-opened an investigation. Ronaldo has denied the accusation.

"It's a delicate moment but he has large shoulders," said Allegri, who did not definitively say Ronaldo would start on Saturday. "I see him calm in training. Ronaldo's professionalism on and off the field is indisputable."

Ronaldo missed Tuesday's Champions League match against Young Boys because he had previously been suspended after getting a red card in an earlier match. However, he did play in the Italian league last weekend shortly after news broke about the allegation against him.

On Thursday, Juventus sent a statement of support and called him a "great champion." But sponsors Nike and video game maker EA Sports have expressed concern about his conduct.

Since the allegation surfaced, Juventus' share price has fallen by nearly 20 per cent.

The club is listed on the stock exchange and its share price, which rose significantly when Ronaldo was signed in July, fell again on Friday by more than 10 per cent.

Besides playing for Juventus, Ronaldo is also the star of Portugal's national soccer team. But he was left off the squad for a pair of matches next week.

"I knew he wouldn't be called up by Portugal," Allegri said. "He reached an agreement with the coach and president of his federation."

The 33-year-old Ronaldo started his career at Sporting Lisbon before moving to Manchester United and Real Madrid. He left Spain after nine years for Juventus, a move that cost the Italian club 112 million euros (then $ 132 million).

Neither Ronaldo nor Juventus have addressed the allegation by Mayorga that she received a payoff of $ 375,000 in 2010 after being put under pressure by the player's "fixers" to keep quiet about an incident in a penthouse hotel suite.

The Sunday Express has learned that has given the club notice that he is determined to leave when the next transfer window opens, in order to allow them a few months to find a replacement. 

Pogba, 25, returned to two years ago from the Italian giants for a then-world-record £89.3million transfer fee – but has struggled to recapture his most outstanding form. 

His relationship with United boss is said to have broken down – possibly to the point of no return – leaving him little option but to seek a move away. 

He has been a target for Barcelona, who were expected to return next summer with another offer – because the Spanish club were hoping that United lowered their demands. 

Pogba has made it clear that he wants to return to Turin and play in the same team as , who moved to from Real Madrid in the summer. 

United have lost two of their opening three games this season – and a long drawn-out transfer saga will be the last thing they will want as they bid to kick-start their season.

Pogba hinted he was unhappy with life under Mourinho after the opening weekend win over Leicester at Old Trafford.

“If you’re not happy, you cannot give your best,” Pogba said. 

“There are things I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.”

In return, Mourinho moved to allay United fans’ fears that his relationship with Pogba was strained.

“I cannot demand more from him, I cannot ask more from him, he came here on a Monday, trained three days, I asked for his support for his contribution in an important match for us when the team had difficulties,” Mourinho said.

“He did it better and for more time than we could expect, when he says he did it for the fans and for the team is exactly what I want, is exactly what I demand from my players.

“He’s working well, playing well, he does for the fans, he does for the team and that’s what I want, to play for the team and I couldn’t be happier than what I am.”

Mourinho’s comments have done nothing to quell the speculation surrounding Pogba’s future though and he is now set on a return to Juventus, where he won eight trophies.

United could hope to bring in more than £100m if they were to sell Pogba, with his marketability as attractive as his talent.

But they would likely need to spend around the same in order to replace the midfielder, who won the World Cup with France in July.

Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been touted as a potential successor to Pogba in the engine room of Mourinho’s team.

However, Stadio Olimpico chief Claudio Lotito is more than happy to dig his heels in to keep hold of the Serbian.

Juventus, Real, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been credited with interest in Milinkovic-Savic as well.

And United would need to prove they are the best club for him to start the next stage of his career at to fend off their competition.

A late goal from Federico Bernadeschi was enough for Juventus to overcome a plucky Chievo side who looked set to spoil Cristiano Ronaldo’s first game for the Italian champions.

There was high drama in the final minutes of the game as it had looked as though Mario Mandzukic had scored a late header for the Juventus but the goal was overturned after a VAR decision which appeared to rule the goal out for a Ronaldo handball in the build-up.

However, Bernadeschi’s late impact was enough to secure the three points in the season opener as Juventus chase their eighth successive Scudetto.

Ronaldo came close on several occasions, notably a close shot in the first half and a bullet header early in the second but try as he might the Portuguese superstar was unable to break his personal deadlock for his new club.

An early goal from Sami Khedira, just three minutes into the new season, suggested that Max Allegri’s side might run away with it but the excellent Emanuele Giaccherini set up a goal for Mariusz Stepinski to level the game before half-time.

Former Juventus man Giaccherini looked like he might break the hearts of his old club as found the net from the penalty spot ten minutes into the second half but Juventus, the most dominant Italian side of the last decade, pushed forward and had several chances to draw level.

An own goal from Mattia Bani, who deflected in a Leonardo Bonucci header from a set piece, eventually leveled matters but when Mandukic’s late effort was ruled out following a VAR decision, it seemed that the game would end in a deadlock.

Champions, they say, persevere and substitute Bernadeschi’s late goal three minutes into injury time ensured that Ronaldo ended his first game for his new team with a smile on his face and their first three points registered on the league table.

It was no more than Juventus deserved, as they carved out 26 chances to Chievo’s 6 throughout the match but, as Ronaldo found out in his first game in Italy, the incredible goalscoring record he maintained in Spain may prove difficult to replicate on this new stomping grounds.

Ronaldo turned his back on Real Madrid after nine successful years at the Bernabeu, joining Juventus in a £105million transfer last month.

The 33-year-old chose to leave the club after growing tired at club president Florentino Perez’s refusal to give him the same salary as the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to aim a dig at Real by praising Juventus as a ‘family’, recently saying: “Since I was a child, I looked at this team and I hoped one day I could play there.

“It’s the biggest club in Italy and one of the best in the world, so it was an easy decision. It’s different here, it’s like a family.”

Many interpreted that as Ronaldo suggesting Real Madrid was a club that lacked a family feel.

And Ramos has now hit back at his former team-mate for his comments.

The Real Madrid captain, speaking ahead of Los Blancos’ UEFA Super Cup showdown with Atletico Madrid, said: “Here we have always felt like a family, so I don’t know what he was talking about.

“We have had lots of success, which is because we are a family and he was part of that family, which we have continued to have.

“It’s obviously a negative when you lose a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, but we can continue to win and in Real Madrid’s history many have come and gone, but Real Madrid continue to win.

“No one is above Real Madrid, whatever happens Real Madrid will continue to live on and it was his choice to leave.

“The decisions are not mine to make, but the doors are always open to those that want to be part of Real Madrid.

“Losing Ronaldo was hard, but no player is above Real Madrid and we still have the hunger to improve and win more titles.

“The mindset we have is more important than any individuals in the team.”

Ronaldo also recently praised Juventus fans for the standing ovation they gave him in April.

The Portugal international struck a stunning overhead kick as Real swatted their Serie A counterparts aside.

Juventus fans then rose as one to pay tribute to Ronaldo, who said: “I remember it every day. It was amazing, that had never happened to me before. In the Champions League against Juve, a quarter-final, you score a goal and see everyone in the stadium applaud you. It was an unbelievable feeling.

“I felt surprised at first. I am used to following Juve and I like the club, but since that moment I liked them even more.

“I won’t say it was the key point in my decision, but every detail helps. It helps when you see the fans and club like you, the feeling is completely different.

“I don’t have a precise moment when I decided [to join]. During the years, we played a few times against Juve and I had a special feeling that the Italian supporters like Cristiano.”

Zidane’s supposed appointment at Juve comes just days after Cristiano Ronaldo signed for the club.

The manager and Ronaldo were part of the Real Madrid side that won a third consecutive Champions League crown in May.

The French manager was appointed Real boss in January 2016 and oversaw a period of European dominance at the Bernabeu.

Zidane quit in May, citing fatigue, and was replaced by Julen Lopetegui.

Zidane moving to Juventus is certain not a surprise, considering his history with the club.

The former midfielder was Juve’s for five years before he was sold to Real for a then-record transfer fee of €77.5m in 2001.

He left having won two Serie A titles but never clinched the Champions League with the Old Lady.

He was signed after Juve beat Ajax on penalties in the 1996 final and was on the losing side in both 1997 and 1998 as the Turn club lost to Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively.

Fast forward two decades and Juve appear determined to match the likes of European superpowers , Barcelona, PSG and Bayern Munich once again by investing heavily in the squad this summer.

They paid Real £105m for Ronaldo, who has penned a four-year contract worth £106m.

Juve chief Beppe Marotta is determined to bring the Champions League back to Turin, with the club having lost their last five European Cup finals.

Zidane’s arrival at Juve would certainly put pressure on manager Max Allegri to deliver the Champions League this season.

The Italian, who took over from Antonio Conte in 2014, has won the league in each of his four seasons at Juve and reached two Champions League finals.

There were reports earlier in the year that he could quit the club this summer – but Allegri is determined to give Europe at least one more crack this term.

Juve are expected to dominate Serie A once again this season, with Napoli their only realistic challengers for the title.

Both Milan clubs are in turmoil off the pitch, while Roma lost talisman Radja Nainggolan to Inter in the transfer market and goalkeeper Alisson is tipped to leave as well.
