One of the Jonas Brothers will fly solo when he returns to Studio 8H.

NBC has announced that Nick Jonas will pull double duty as host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live‘s Feb. 27 episode — the last of five consecutive episodes that began with host John Krasinski on Jan. 30. The singer will perform his recently announced single, “Spaceman,” due to release Feb. 25.

As part of the aforementioned sibling trio, Jonas has served as the musical guest twice, in 2009 and 2019. On his own, he appeared once in 2016, in support of his third studio album “Last Year Was Complicated.”

Jonas’ SNL return comes just days before he returns to The Voice. After making his debut as a coach during last spring’s 18th cycle, Jonas took the fall off and is set to return for Season 20 (premiering Monday, March 1).

Saturday Night Live returned for its 46th season on Oct. 3. Previous hosts have included Chris Rock, Bill Burr, Issa Rae, Adele, John Mulaney, Dave Chappelle, Jason Bateman, Timothée Chalamet, Kristen Wiig, Krasinski, Dan Levy, Regina King and Regé-Jean Page.

Meanwhile, this season’s musical acts have included Megan Thee Stallion, Jack White, Justin Bieber, H.E.R., The Strokes, Foo Fighters, Morgan Wallen, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Due Lipa, Machine Gun Kelly, Phoebe Bridgers, Nathaniel Rateliff and Bad Bunny. Jonas is the first act of Season 46 to pull double duty.

Season three of Dark is in the early days of filming as the cast and crew shoot the final run of the critically-acclaimed German-language series. Season two of Dark concluded with Jonas Kahnwald (played by Louis Hofmann) coming back from the future and trying to avert the apocalypse in Winden.

Sadly, he failed to do so and ended up going back to his home where he found Adam (Dietrich Hollinderbäumer), who shot dead Jonas’ girlfriend Martha Nielsen (Lisa Vicari).

Adam told Jonas that Martha’s death needed to happen in order for the teen to become him in the future.

He gave Jonas the choice of either going after him or staying with Martha – the schoolboy chose the latter.

Adam left Jonas as he mourned Martha, the implication being events would take place once more: the apocalypse would happen as it had in previous cycles.

Just when all hope looked lost, a different version of Martha showed up with what appeared to be either a time machine or an inter-dimensional travel device.

New Martha told Jonas she wasn’t who he thought she was and both of them used her machine to travel to another place.

Many fans have been left perplexed about who she was and where they could have gone.

The big theory is that she is from a parallel universe with Dark consisting of multiple parallels worlds – potentially with every decision splintering off and creating a new reality.

So she could have taken Jonas with her back to her own world to try and save his version of reality. Judging from her travel device, New Martha’s world is technologically more advanced and could feasibly save Jonas’ reality.

Dark fans have taken to Reddit to discuss this theory and some have been speculating whether this scene could be a new event outside of the cycle that keeps playing out.

One person on Reddit: “Well if it’s all part of the loop, of course he knew because he experienced it all himself. We as viewers are always tricked into thinking: This time it will mean something, what did they change – but I believe, nothing really.

“Old Jonas aka the stranger simply doesn’t refer to alternate Martha partly because it is not ‘his’ Martha and partly due to exciting writing of the story, but so far I believe, he has been to the other world.

“He (the stranger) simply didn’t know that him putting Martha at gunpoint and telling her to stay in the bunker would not make a difference. He still believes he can change his own past.”

While another person agreed: “You’re right. It’s very easy to deceive and promise something to a young guy who burns up with love.

A third person suggested: ”What if Adam is also from the alternate universe?

“That way, even if Jonas dies in the explosion, he won’t.”

One user said: “Dear, you are absolutely right! Jonas has to grow somewhere! He will grow up in the world from where Martha 2.0! Otherwise, he would have died young at the end of the cycle from an explosion at a nuclear power plant.”

The only one thing certain at this stage is that Jonas was always going to avoid the explosion and grow up to be the older version him before transforming into Adam ultimately.

So, it seems likely the New Martha was always supposed to lead Jonas away from the explosion and just part of the cycle.

But could Jonas actually manage to break the cycle finally and save his own family at the same time in season three?

Munro Leaf’s classic children’s book The Story of Ferdinand is receiving the animated movie treatment, and a new trailer has arrived to give us all a look at the film while announcing new cast members and a new song from Nick Jonas. How can you dare to resist this movie about a cartoon bull now, I ask? You can’t, don’t even try. The new Ferdinand trailer packed full of all this new information awaits you below.

Published in 1936, The Story of Ferdinand is the rather charming story of a bull who would rather sit and smell the flowers rather than butt heads with the other bulls. I can relate to this story because when I was younger, I too would rather sit and smell the flowers instead of going out to play with the other kids. And by sit and smell the flowers I mean sit in my dark bedroom and read Stephen King novels.

The classic tale gets a big Hollywood update with Ferdinand, an animated tale from director Carlos Saldanha, the co-director Ice Age. Large suit enthusiast and all-around nice guy John Cena voices the gentle bull, and he’s joined in the cast by Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Daveed Diggs, Gabriel Iglesias, Bobby Cannavale, David Tennant, Anthony Anderson, Flula Borg, Sally Phillips, Boris Kodjoe, Jerrod Carmichael, Raúl Esparza, Karla Martínez, and Miguel Ángel Silvestre.

And that’s not all! As this new trailer – which is more of a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the production than a proper narrative trailer – reveals, the film will feature a new song from talented musical boy Nick Jonas.

But wait, there’s more. Peyton Manning has also joined the cast as the voice of another bull named Guapo, who “acts like he’s brimming with confidence but under that brash exterior, he’s really a bundle of nerves! Thanks to Ferdinand, he learns to overcome his self-doubt.” This is the point where I tell you I have no idea who Peyton Manning is, but I believe he’s some sort of sports player. Remember, I grew up hiding in my room reading Stephen King books; I am not well-versed in the wild world of sports.

FERDINAND tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover. From Blue Sky Studios and Carlos Saldanha, the director of “Rio” and inspired by the beloved book “The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson, “Ferdinand” is a heartwarming animated comedy adventure with an all-star cast that includes John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Anthony Anderson and many more.

The BBC One show featured Joe Jonas, but the 49-year-old host told the 27-year-old singer that he would “not be back”.

Seemingly unaware, a surprised Joe was told that he will be replaced by his 24-year-old brother Nick for next week’s live final.

Turning to Joe after he had selected this evening’s winner, Mel said: “Joe, being an incredibly busy international slash global popstar, you’re not actually going to be able to join us, are you, for the live final?

“But, never fear, when you lose one Jonas you gain another.”

Looking surprised that his brother was filling his shows of the show, Joe gasped: “Ah!” as the choirs and audience murmured to each other in astonishment.

Mel continued: “So your lovely brother Nick, I believe, is going to step in. Is that really true Joe?”

Hesitating, Joe replied: “I’ll text him right now and make sure he shows up.”

Presenter Mel then asked: “What are you going to tell him about this group?”

The former Jonas Brothers boyband member replied: “I’m going to tel him that obviously this is a tough competition with a lot of incredible performers and groups.

“But I’ve got to give a nice shout out for my group back here. They crushed it tonight.”

The 49-year-old former Great British Bake Off presenter repeatedly cracked jokes about cakes which didn’t go down too well.

Since the host quit the BBC baking show amid a move to rival broadcaster Channel 4, it appears Mel couldn’t let some of her jokes go.

Speaking to guest judge Joe Jonas who had a chart hit as part of DNCE with Cake by the Ocean, Mel said: “Joe, so good to see you my love. Now Joe, little bone to pick with you. Cake by the ocean… have you ever eaten a Battenberg on Bournemouth beach? Eating a cake by the ocean is very difficult Joe. The sand gets into the sponge.”

Cringing at Mel’s initial joke, Joe replied: “I wouldn’t recommend it. What’s it called? Battenberg? I don’t know.”

Mel added: “Good, I just wanted to clear that up before we started. It’s beautiful, held together with marzipan with a cross. It’s got a lovely rise on it. Very delicious cake,” prompting 41-year-old head judge Gareth Malone to quip: “This isn’t the cake show Mel!”

Later in the show, Mel asked 27-year-old Joe about eating cakes by the ocean once more, asking: “Now, a profiterole by the ocean is fine Joe? Not sure about a doughnut. Profiterole I’m good with.”

When another pair of contestants revealed they were arranging their wedding cake, Mel once again fell back into her cake spiel. 

“Cheese cake by the ocean is fine Joe, it’s fine, because you have a nice solid layer at the bottom which kind of de-crumbs the whole thing so that works,” she said.

Seemingly at the end of his tether at listening to Mel’s cake-related jokes, Joe was fed up when Mel made one final cake joke.

Mel said: “Now Joe, a cake topper by the ocean is absolutely fine. Absolutely fine,” leading 37-year-old judge Kelis to scream: “Enough!”

Putting Mel’s joke down, Joe said: “I kind of knew that one was coming,” as Mel shrieked: “I’m sorry, oh Joe, oh Joe are you bored of me? Are you bored? I couldn’t bear that.”

Keeping the show friendly, Joe added: “Oh no, you have a lot of promises of taking me out for lots of cake in different places. I have a lot of high expectations,” as Mel continued: “We’ll do it. Not only by the ocean.”
