One day after his controversial, Oscars-centric interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Kevin Hart is going on the defensive. In an Instagram post on Saturday, the embattled comedian addressed the backlash that has stemmed from his Q&A with DeGeneres, in which DeGeneres revealed that she personally contacted the Academy and recommended that Hart be reinstated as Oscars host. “When did we get to the point where we forgot that we all learn, then we all have the ability to grow and with that growth comes a wealth of knowledge,” Hart wrote. “You can’t change without a [sic] understanding of what GROWTH means… Please grasp this and use it in 2019.” During Hart’s interview on Ellen Friday, DeGeneres had acknowledged the homophobic Twitter jokes that led Hart to step down from hosting the Oscars in December, after he had refused to apologize for the resurfaced posts. But DeGeneres relegated Hart’s critics to the “haters” category, telling him, “That’s a small group of people being very loud. We’re a huge group of people who love you and want to see you host the Oscars.” Hart told DeGeneres that he felt “trolls” were responsible for the “attack on [his] character” that led him to step back from the hosting gig, adding that he doesn’t have a “homophobic bone in [his] body.” Both Hart and DeGeneres quickly became targets of criticism after the interview aired: Hart’s apology was viewed by many as insincere, while others were disappointed in DeGeneres, a member of the LGBT community, for using her platform to support Hart. CNN journalist Don Lemon delivered an emotional message to Hart on Friday’s CNN Tonight broadcast, saying, “This is the time to hear other people out, to understand why they might have been offended. And I don’t see any meaningful outreach to the LGBT community.” Read Hart’s full Instagram message below, then drop a comment with your thoughts.

OTTAWA — Canadian athletes are not mincing their words when it comes to the World Anti-Doping Agency's decision to reinstate Russia's drug-testing program after a nearly three-year suspension over its widespread, state-sponsored doping scheme.
"I'm profoundly disappointed," Canadian Olympian Beckie Scott said Thursday of RUSADA's reinstatement. "I feel this was an opportunity for WADA and they have dealt a devastating blow to clean sport. I'm quite dismayed."
On Saturday, Scott resigned from WADA's compliance review committee and she isn't backing down about how she felt about the decision.
"Politics has trumped principle," Scott said Thursday. "This is very tough day for sport."
Beckie Scott reacts to WADA decision:
RUSADA was suspended in November 2015 after the scandal — which centred on helping Russian athletes win medals at the 2014 Sochi Olympics — was revealed.
At the Canadian Sport Awards in Ottawa Thursday, many of the country's top Olympians and Paralympians were confused, angry and disappointed in the decision and they weren't afraid of letting their feelings be known.
Denny Morrison is a four-time Olympian in long track speed skating. He said if the goal is to encourage a positive change in the culture of sport, "we can't let the perpetrators continue without consequence.
"It's a poor decision by WADA that sends a disastrous message to the sporting world: Cheat and you'll get away with it.
"In Canada, we have to keep doing what's right and be an example for other nations," Morrison said.
WADA vote reinstates Russian Anti-Doping Agency:
Canadian lawyer and investigator Richard McLaren issued the damning report for WADA that concluded there was widespread, state-sanctioned doping among Russian athletes. Reached by Canadian Press Thursday in Lausanne, Switzerland, McLaren said his report still stands.
"Nobody has ever been able to say that this didn't occur," said McLaren, a Western University law professor. "Just because you deny, deny and deny, doesn't mean that it didn't occur. It just means that you're not prepared to say that it did. You're not prepared to admit it."
Richard McLaren on WADA decision:
AthletesCAN, the association representing Canada's national team athletes, said in a statement its biggest concern remains WADA's willingness to shift its stance and compromise on criteria that had been previously established.
"This suggests arbitrary decision-making and subjective rule-making," AthletesCAN said. "We would like to highlight that athletes are not afforded that same opportunity to compromise or negotiate when sanctioned under the WADA code, which presents an inherent double standard."
WADA decided to reinstate Russia after backtracking on two key conditions: that Russia accept a report that concluded state involvement in the doping and coverups; and that Russia give access to evidence stored in its discredited Moscow laboratory.
CBC's Jacqueline Doorey on lead-up to controversial vote:
AthletesCAN said in its statement it is concerned WADA is not acting independently of the International Olympic Committee and believes that any body tasked with upholding anti-doping and clean sport needs to be a truly independent organization.
"Our position is not, and never has been, anti-Russian in nature, as we believe that all clean athletes should have the right to compete in a fair and equitable sporting arena. Our position is one about the effectiveness of WADA and their decision-making in regards to any country found to have systemic doping allegations," the statement said.
Canadian Olympian Perdita Felicien said she's encouraged by the way Canadian athletes are rallying together and taking a strong stance against WADA's decision.
"It's way too early to reinstate [RUSADA] considering what the crime was," Felicien said. "It's a bad day for clean sport.
"I think some people aren't comfortable rocking the boat maybe because of their brand or protecting their own interest, but if you're truly a proponent of clean sport you have to speak the truth. We all have to speak up."
The head of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport said he was "dismayed and disappointed" at the WADA decision.
"WADA is effectively thumbing their nose at the clean athletes," CCES president and chief executive officer Paul Melia said from Ottawa.
'A black day for athletes':
"Obviously Russia and the IOC have convinced WADA to change their mind on the roadmap and those criteria, so it proves that WADA is not able to act independently," Melia said. "It means that going forward the clean athletes, the anti-doping agencies, the governments of the world have to demand a reform to the governing structure of WADA because that executive committee is just a puppet of the IOC.
"That has to change going forward or we really don't have an effective international regulator for the code."
As for next steps, Russia has agreed to hand over samples and data by Dec. 31. If it doesn't, RUSADA will again be declared noncompliant.
"There's a lot of credibility on the line here," said Scott, who still leads the WADA athletes' group. "So I think a lot of people are going to be waiting and watching very closely what happens from here."

A collaborator of Sir David Attenborough has shared a surprising story about how the documentarian came close to death during filming.
Producer Alastair Fothergill, who has worked with Sir David on Blue Planet and Planet Earth, has revealed a story about an incident that occurred in the 1990’s.
The story tells of Sir David filming dolphins off of the coast of the Bahamas on The Trials of Life.
He revealed: “We were filming David from the top of a boat that had a wooden platform on the back for people to dive off.
“We had just done a wonderful piece and David was about to go under the water again and a great wave washed him under the dive platform, which then came smashing down.”
Despite this story only coming out now, the severity of it has never left Alastair, he says.
Alastair continued: “I’ve never forgotten it because David was unconscious and there was blood everywhere.
“I remember thinking, ‘The one thing you don’t want on your CV is you’re the man who killed David Attenborough.’”
Luckily for the legendary broadcaster, the crew were able to rescue him promptly.
He was nowhere near any danger in his latest television endeavour, however.
Sir David recently filmed an ITV documentary with Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen’s Green Plant airs next week and features a conversation between the monarch and Sir David.
A recently released trailer showed the legendary broadcaster and The Queen walking through the royal gardens.
He even dove into politics recently, when he spoke to Express.co.uk about Donald Trump.
Sir David said: “I think it’s very sad indeed that such an important nation should have withdrawn its support once it had given it.”
He went on: “I don’t believe that it’s a permanent setback.
“I think it’s a temporary one and I think the nations of the world are now convinced about the problems that the ocean’s faced and we will all go on.”
Sir David has been broadcasting since 1952, and has worked on projects including Blue Planet, The Life of Mammals, and Life on Air.
This year Blue Planet II won the Impact Award at the National Television Awards.
Blue Planet is available on BBC iPlayer
The comedian was plugging his latest show for Sky1, Harry Hill’s Tea Time, as he sampled some of Matt Tebbutt’s finest dishes.
Harry, 53, got things off to an awkward start as he branded the stalwart “Heaven versus Hell” segment as a “forced format”.
Matt, 44, laughed off the gag before continuing with his presenting duties, but his troubles were about to get worse.
Guest chef, Glyn Purnell, prepared a mouth-watering lamb dish with deep-fried seaweed.
However, it wasn’t to everyone’s taste and Harry made his thoughts well-known.
After taking a bite of the meaty dish, the TV Burp host struggled to swallow his mouthful.
Concerned Matt asked if he was okay, to which Harry admitted: “I wouldn’t say it was ‘chewy’ but it’s quite ‘livery’ isn’t it?
“I don’t really like it,” Harry giggled, as Matt completely erupted in hysterics.
Chef Glyn simply commented: “Well, there you go guys, you’ve heard it there.”
Viewers of Saturday Kitchen flocked to Twitter in disbelief over Harry’s honesty, with one posting: “Harry Hill telling it like it is.”
Another added: “Harry Hill ‘I don’t really like it!’ love him although I nearly choked on my toast.” (sic)
A third laughed: “Refreshing honesty from Harry Hill…”
Meanwhile, another wasn’t impressed with his opinion, saying: “Harry if only you were half as funny as you are rude, you could be watchable, but you’re not.”
Last week, Matt was completely mortified after mistaking one chef for another.
The host was left with his head in his hands after the disastrous blunder.
Saturday Kitchen airs Saturdays on BBC One at 10pm.
Speaking to press including Express.co.uk at the launch for the latest series, Tom confessed that The Voice team made a few gaffes along the way.
After a screening of the first episode, in which one particular contestant didn’t get any turns, he yelled: “We should have turned for him.
“I just don’t understand it. That’s why I shouted out [when I watched it]. Press the button!
“It was a mistake. He had the whole package,” Tom, 77, admitted.
Newcomer judge Olly Murs interjected: “But we have to say, as much as you’ve seen some bad choices, we made some really good choices.
“You’ll see that throughout the rest of the season,” the 33-year-old said.
This comes as Jennifer Hudson admitted she bought Olly a bath robe following his nakedness on set.
In return, J-Hud was gifted some snazzy trainers by the former X Factor host after she explained how much she loved his.
The investigation cross-referenced independent databases from non-government organizations and analyzed the city morgue’s list of 9,606 names of people killed in the battle. The probe found that at least 3,200 civilians were killed by Iraqi or US-led coalition airstrikes, artillery fire, or mortar rounds between October 2016 and July 2017.
Most of those victims were described in Health Ministry reports as simply being “crushed.” However, the US coalition has acknowledged responsibility for just 326 of those deaths, while stating that it lacks the resources to send investigators to Mosul, according to AP.
Another one-third of the dead were killed in the final violent campaign of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS). The causes of the remaining deaths could not be determined, as they were civilians who were trapped inside neighborhoods hit by airstrikes, IS explosives, and mortar rounds from all sides of the fight.
The numbers are likely a low estimation of the actual situation, as hundreds of dead civilians are thought to still be trapped underneath rubble in the city, which saw some of its 44 neighborhoods almost completely destroyed. Thousands are believed to be in mass graves in and around the city, and as many as 4,000 in the natural crevasse known as Khasfa. The AP toll does not include those figures.
Imad Ibrahim, a civil defense rescuer from west Mosul, has been tasked with excavating the dead, mostly in the Old City. “Sometimes you can see the bodies, they’re visible under the rubble, other times we dig for hours and suddenly find 15 to 30 all in one place. That’s when you know they were sheltering, hiding from the airstrikes,” Ibrahim said. “Honestly, none of this was worth it.”
AP also spoke to Radwan Majid, who lost both his children in a May airstrike. “There were three Daesh [IS militants] in front of my house, so when the airstrike hit it also killed my children…we can see their bodies under the rubble, but we can’t reach them by ourselves,” he said. “All I want is to give them a proper burial.”
Responding to AP’s questioning about civilian deaths in Mosul, coalition spokesman Col. Thomas Veale said “it is simply irresponsible to focus criticism on inadvertent casualties caused by the coalition’s war to defeat ISIS.” He went on to state that “without the coalition’s air and ground campaign against ISIS, there would have inevitably been additional years, if not decades of suffering and needless death and mutilation in Syria and Iraq.”
The coalition has not offered an official estimation of deaths resulting from the battle for Mosul, and relies on drone footage, video from cameras mounted on weapons systems, and pilot observations. Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi told AP that only 1,260 civilians had been killed in the fighting.
Chris Woods, head of Airwars, an independent organization that documents air and artillery strikes in Iraq and Syria, told AP “it was the biggest assault on a city in a couple of generations, all told. And thousands died. There doesn’t seem to be any disagreement about that, except from the federal government and the coalition,” he added.
The databases used by AP in its investigation are from Amnesty International, Iraq Body Count, and Airwars. It also utilized a UN report in its research.

The outspoken host, 52, found himself buffeted by Susanna’s sneezing after she came into work with a “small sniffle”.
Piers joked: “I’m actually being infected by a snorting Susanna Reid.
“If I get infected by this I will not be happy.
“I’m thinking about the viewers – they could do without Susanna, but they couldn’t do without me,” he insisted.
Within minutes, Piers was handed a oxygen mask to try and protect him from any potential germs that were swirling in the air.
“I can’t risk getting ill again,” he swiped. “Ive had two crippling bouts of man flu.
What’s more, Good Morning Britain‘s resident medical man, Dr Hillary Jones appeared on set which gave Piers even more to worry about.
He yelled: “When the in-house doctor rushes in, he understands it’s a medical emergency.”
However, Susanna, 47, downplayed the “illness”, insisting that if she tells herself she isn’t ill, she will be cured.
Only time will tell if Piers does catch Susanna’s cold, but it seems he’s trying his best not to.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
The latest instalment of the ITV reality show saw plenty of drama with Jamie Lomas, 42, being slammed by fans over a screen time scandal and Amir Khan, 30, becoming the seventh contestant to be eliminated from the show.
However, before he was voted off by viewers, Amir joined Made In Chelsea star Toff, 22, and comedian Iain Lee, 44, for the Grim Grotto challenge as the celebrities attempted to win a big breakfast for the camp.
As Santa’s little helpers, the trio had to dress up Kiosk Keith dolls as presents for children on the good list before gift tagging them and putting them in a delivery shoot to be placed on Santa’s sleigh.
When the klaxon sounded, Toff soon got stuck in to the task at hand, grabbing one of the miniature Kiosk Keiths as she admitted: “They’re kind of hunky.
“Kiosk Keith doesn’t look like this naked,” she exclaimed. “Oh my god, it actually looks like him.
Later, in the Bush Telegraph, the blonde bombshell cheekily quipped: “I’ve seen Kiosk Keith’s little willy winky.
“Hey, he’s got a cracking six pack as well, didn’t see that coming,” she added naughtily.
