After Munchetty’s interjection, Mr Barclay added: “Well, there is existing technology and the paper sets that out.” “Where?” the BBC Breakfast asked again, exasperatedly. The Brexit Secretary explained: “Even if you look at the large traders, they already for example know here their vehicles are. They have systems in place for that. Following details on small traders, the politician added: “There’s already done because there’s a border there in terms of currency and tax in any event. “So, the regulatory sides done in terms of the regulatory zone as set out in the paper and in terms of customs, it’s building on existing technology and that existing technology would not need to apply until the end of the implementation period as a pose to applying immediately.” BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One. Boris Johnson, 55, joined Dan Walker, 42, on BBC Breakfast ahead of his speech at the Conservative party conference today. Discussing a whole range of topics which have unfolded since the Prime Minister took office earlier this year, the host quizzed Johnson about his mission to find a breakthrough to the Northern Ireland border backstop as the Brexit deadline looms. Ahead of the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal being tabled at Brussels at the end of the month, Irish broadcaster RTE have reported the deal will propose customs clearance centres will be set up five to ten miles on either side of the border. Trying to get down to the finer details of his plan, Walker asked Johnson: “It seems proposals we’re hearing about this morning with regards to the Irish border have not only gone down badly in our Ireland, but also in Brussels. “What are the changes?” Walker asked. Johnson replied: “As far as I can make out from what I’ve seen of the response from Brussels and I think Dublin, they’re not talking about the proposals we’re actually going to be tabling.” READ MORE: BBC Breakfast viewers criticise ‘painful’ Boris Johnson interview “They’re talking about some stuff that went in previously,” the Prime Minister explained, referring to Theresa May’s, 63, deal which was rejected by parliament on several occasions. Johnson stated: “There is a difficulty if you try to keep Northern Ireland in the customs union because one of the basic themes about being a country is you have single customs perimeter and you have a union.” As the Prime Minister failed to give the finer details on the matter, Walker tried to interject a number of times. After Johnson admitted the government did have a solution with regards to the Irish backstop, Walker said: “You’ve still not given us any detail about that solution.” Johnson explained: “If I may say so, the UK government has already made a very considerable offer and if you look at what we’re saying on the sanitary and phytosanitary arrangements that is we are already accepting you could have a situation in which as it were in Northern Ireland, the people are British but the cattle are Irish. “You have single territory for agriculture, for sanitary and phytosanitary, for agro-foods and that is a big concession by the UK government. “Because after all what it means is that for all those areas, the decisions on sanitary and phytosanitary rules would still be taken…” Johnson continued, before the presenter tired to interject once more. “No let me finish…” the Prime Minister declared, before adding: “Would still be taken in Brussels with no say by the UK, with Dublin participating in those conversations. DON’T MISS… Johnson said: “It is a very considerable advance and what you would do by the sanitary and phytosanitary area, the zone, is you would allow the movement of cattle moving across the border and also all sorts of other goods.” After mentioning cattle several times in his attempt to answer the hosts probe, Walker interjected, stating: “You’re filling all that time by talking about cattle, knowing full well I…” the host said, before Johnson interrupted him. “We could talk about cheese,” the Prime Minister declared, with a frustrated Walker adding: “I want to talk about other things than cattle and cheese.” Hitting back, Johnson replied: “You wanted detail. Anyway, there you go.” Walker then proceeded to ask more about what plans Johnson had in place with regards to the withdrawal agreement as the Brexit deadline looms. Referring to the backstop once again, Johnson said: “Getting rid of the backstop is a fantastic thing because what that does is it enables the UK genuinely to take back control of our regulatory framework, of our tariffs, of our customs and commercial policy. “And it allows us to go forward with a new and exciting relationship not just with the EU but also with the rest of the world. “There’s no point in doing Brexit if you stay locked in the customs union and locked in the single market with no say on those institutions.” BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.

The buildup to Saturday’s match (Sunday AEDT), which sees defending Six Nations Grand Slam champions Ireland up against an improving England at the start of a year culminating with the World Cup in Japan, has been stoked by a series of pointed comments from both sides.
Former Ireland scrumhalf Stringer, who played alongside flyhalf Farrell at English giants Saracens in 2011, said that while the flyhalf was a fine player, “you can rattle him.”
The 98 times capped Irish rugby great’s remarks came on the back of England head coach Eddie Jones promising “brutality” from his side at the Aviva Stadium and his defence coach John Mitchell telling the BBC that Ireland will “try to bore” England to death.
Ireland are favourites to prevail having beaten England in their last two meetings and won 11 out of 12 Tests last year, including a historic home victory over world champions New Zealand.

— ‘Loses the rag completely’ —
“Eddie will have them fired up, and you see the likes of Owen Farrell: he’s in charge of everything they do, being captain and having all that responsibility, but he is a hothead,” commented 41-year-old Stringer, speaking at a sponsor’s event in Dublin.
“I’ve played with him, he loves that physical side of things, but you can get under his skin, you can rattle him.
“He is a guy they’ll be looking to get after.”
Stringer, who was no shrinking violet himself during a stellar career which included a 2009 Six Nations Grand Slam, said Farrell’s fragile temperament was a serious weakness in a captain.
“If things go well for Farrell, on the front foot he’s a great player but going backward he’s a guy who loses the rag completely, which you don’t want from your captain,” he explained.

Stringer, who formed a world class partnership with Munster teammate flyhalf Ronan O’Gara for the bulk of his career, said it was all very well to promise “brutality” but warned several other England players could be provoked into losing their cool.
“You can get under a lot of these guys, you can rattle them.
“Ireland’s discipline is very good, England’s not so much — they’ll be looking to start a scrap at every opportunity, just to rattle Ireland,” said Stringer.
“It’s going to be intriguing, and how Ireland deal with it will be fascinating, because that brutal nature England always bring will be heightened this year.
“They’ll be hurting, they won’t want to see Ireland doing well and going to the World Cup as favourites.”

Outgoing Republican House speaker Paul Ryan is being accused of hypocrisy and nepotism, for championing Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policies yet pushing to loosen visa requirements for migrants from his family’s homeland.
As one of his last acts as leader of the House of Representatives, Ryan managed to squeeze through a bill on November 28, introducing immigration privileges for the Irish. If passed, the legislation would allow them to be granted the E-3 specialty occupation working visa, which only citizens of Australia are eligible for. Dublin is expected to reciprocate with similar measures, as well as easing restrictions for US citizens wishing to retire in Ireland.
Ryan, whose ancestors fled Ireland in the middle of the 19th century, and who earlier this year noted that he would like to become the US ambassador to Dublin, has faced a barrage of criticism for this selective immigration policy approach.
The 48-year-old Wisconsin native has been accused of nepotism and supporting ‘white’ immigration only, while not doing enough to defend the refugees from other nations, in particular Central Americans who are facing a mounting crisis at the US’s southern border. Social justice podcast ‘Irish Stand’ even called Ryan’s actions an “insult” to his own heritage.
You’ve insulted your Irish heritage a thousand times by supporting Trump @SpeakerRyan.
The 7 year old who died of dehydration mirrors the Irish famine children who died in coffin ships.
End your career in silence, not with a pathetic pandering to the heritage you’ve disgraced. https://t.co/VsT6wSlYJl— Irish Stand (@irishstand) December 15, 2018
“Pushing white #Irish immigrants through, while detaining hundreds of people at America’s border with Mexico? The hypocrisy of this administration is shameful,” another tweet reads.

Paul Ryan's bill to give more visas to Irish ppl passed the house & is up for a vote in the Senate next week.
Why hasn't there been a push on here to call those same Reps who voted yes on this bill to also bring the Dream Act up for a vote and then to YES on it?
— Annie Ahmed (@anniea_916) December 16, 2018
#hr392 has 330 cosponsorship but speaker Ryan didnt bring that bill for debate. This is such a nepotism for Irish people where Indians and Chinese have to wait decades for green card where white europeans get green cards in months.

Paul Ryan’s pet Irish Visa Bill is Dumb; A clear example of the fact that the race & ethnicity of the people that make the rules affects who the rules benefit. Until our democracy represents our demographics, it is a democracy in name only.

Ryan got a portion of criticism from conservatives alike, with some expressing concerns that the “cheap” young immigrant labor would slash the salaries of American graduates.

Flights in and out of major Irish airports have been temporarily suspended after Irish airspace experienced issues with air traffic.
A radar in the west of Ireland has caused the problem, with airport chiefs reporting “zero flow rate” in Irish airspace
Both Shannon and Cork airports have suspended all flights until the radar is fully operational, but Dublin has not been affected due to its proximity to UK air traffic control.
“A radar problem is impacting all flights coming from the west/south of Ireland,” a Cork Airport spokesperson told the Irish Independent.
“Anything already in the airspace was processed through or has landed but nothing else is allowed to enter this airspace at present,” the spokesperson added.
Twitter account Flightradar24 referred to the incident as a “complete rear failure.”
The International Flight Network has said Irish airspace has been closed “with immediate effect,” with Dublin being the exception.
Some transatlantic routes are being rerouted to avoid flying through Irish airspace.
Work is being carried out to ensure air traffic returns to normal but passengers are being urged to check the state of their flights with airlines.
Arrivals are set to recommence at Cork Airport at 10.40pm if the problem is rectified.
Flight tracking technology shows empty skies across Ireland other than in Dublin.
Shannon Airport posted on Twitter: “Attention Passengers. Air Traffic Control at Ballcasey, Shannon are experiencing issues with their flight radar. Work underway to rectify the situation.
“Arrivals and Departures at SNN have been suspended until the radar is fully operational.”
Aer Lingus has cancelled their Cork-Heathrow EI-724/725 rotation tonight and a scheduled Ryanair departure to Stansted will be confirmed later.
Flights tomorrow could also be affected by the incident as crews are not in position tonight.
Shannon Airport tweeted:” We would advise passengers travelling in the morning to check the status of their flights with the airlines due to tonight’s issue with the flight radar.
“The IAA [Irish Aviation Authority] are continuing to look into this matter.”
The IAA said: “AA is aware of a technical issue in Shannon ATC. The issue is currently being investigated.
“As a precaution, the flow of traffic has been restricted. We will provide an update shortly.”
Passengers of low-cost airline Primera Air have also been hit hard today as the company goes into administration, with thousands of passengers stranded abroad in the US and Europe.
All flights, primarily from Stansted Airport, have been stopped with immediate effect from today (2 October), with Norwegian Airlines offering to repatriate passengers with half-price flight tickets for those affected.
Not so temporary anymore. The two sisters are founders of the Dublin-based Izzy Wheels, which sells colorful removable wheel covers for wheelchairs like Isabel’s. Isabel herself may be their best advertisement, zipping through their Instagram videos in her brightly colored duds and wheel covers, a huge grin on her face.

Izzy Wheels was born in 2016 from a final-year project Ailbhe completed for her visual communications degree at the National College of Art and Design. Inspired by her childhood hobby of decorating Isabel’s chair, she “spent a whole year experimenting with ways of improving the chair. And the wheels were just this big blank canvas screaming for something to make it look better.”
Your wheelchair looking the same every day is like wearing the same coat every day, the same pair of shoes.
Ailbhe Keane
Two years later, Ailbhe, 25, and Isabel, 21, are full-blown entrepreneurs, with customers in 35 countries (though most sales are to the U.S.) and 40 designer collaborations under their belts. While Ailbhe initially did all the design herself, she soon realized that her style wouldn’t suit every customer and reached out to a few designers. As Izzy Wheels has grown, Ailbhe says, dozens of designers are now reaching out weekly about working on sets of wheels. Ailbhe would not reveal the company’s revenue, though she says a portion of its proceeds will go to Irish disability-focused charities.
Ailbhe, busy as creative director of the brand, rarely designs herself now outside of bespoke projects — such as a set of wheels commissioned for a customer’s wedding. The sisters have seen professional accolades too: They made Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list this year and were the first Irish people featured on the main Instagram account last summer, which helped balloon their follower count to nearly 43,000.
Isabel, responsible for a growing social media community on Instagram and Facebook as the brand’s primary ambassador, is chatty and cheerful, with an expert touch at creating a positive, engaged community of customers online. You know how there are a select few brands people love? Izzy Wheels may have a limited community of consumers, but it’s a community that’s been largely ignored by consumer culture — and those who use the wheel covers are passionate, positive and proud, sending in photos of themselves with their new chair outfits and buying several sets of wheels. “You have different wheels to go with different moods, different outfits,” says Ailbhe. “Your wheelchair looking the same every day is like wearing the same coat every day, the same pair of shoes.”

That explanation — concise, relatable, witty — is another hallmark of the Keane sisters’ mission: They want the world to understand how people in wheelchairs relate to their chairs, to see those with disabilities as people rather than symbols of fortitude or a needy minority. “I’m very much aware that my chair is visible to other people when they meet me, and I don’t want that to be the elephant in the room,” says Isabel. “I want people to know they can approach me about it and ask me questions about it, and that’s not a rude thing. We all love talking about ourselves, and it’s a part of who I am.”
To be sure, having a good-looking wheelchair won’t necessarily make life for those with disabilities materially easier. While Isabel notes that Ireland offers free public travel for people with disabilities, they have to book a day in advance, and social spaces like nightclubs and concerts often have limited wheelchair access. Ireland has been slow to make changes to laws about disability: The 144-year-old Lunacy Regulations Act (yes, that was the name), allowing courts to control details of the lives of those with intellectual disabilities, was only repealed in 2015.
But life for people with disabilities in Ireland may be changing too. In March, it became the last country in Europe to ratify the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities, which insists on equality for the 13 percent of Irish citizens who are disabled. Alannah Murray, a young Irish disability activist, doesn’t use Izzy Wheels because they aren’t compatible with her chair, but she loves what the company is doing. “Izzy Wheels has really been a pioneer in turning disability into a fashion statement,” she says.

Murray notes that other positive changes are on the horizon, like fashion brand ASOS premiering its first wheelchair-friendly jumpsuit. In the U.S., stylist Stephanie Thomas launched the website Cur8able to show off disability-friendly fashion and has pushed major brands for more inclusive designs. “You can’t market to people you don’t see,” she said in a 2016 TEDx Talk. “And you just can’t see people that you don’t value. And I don’t mean value as human beings; I mean value as potential customers.”
The Keanes aren’t planning to stop at wheel covers. While Isabel is now part time with the company while studying politics and French at Galway University, there’s a lot of work to do when it comes to wheelchair fashion. Not only are people with disabilities rarely represented on catwalks, Isabel explains, but many people with disabilities can’t buy clothes from traditional stores. “Disability fashion has been such an underserved area of design for so long,” Ailbhe explains, hinting that the company will launch a new type of product by 2019. “We want to create things for wheelchairs and other mobility aids — fashionable things that look good, things that are designed by artists and fashion designers … not by hospitals.”

The Overtones singer Timmy passed away in April this year and the band opened up on coping with their loss.
They told host Christine that they hope their “beloved Irish angel friend will be proud” of the work they have done following his death.
Lachie Chapman said: “Our beloved Irish angel friend will be proud.
“Anyone who ever met that Irish boy smiles or grins or giggles. He was a oncer – we will love that boy for the rest of our lives.
“We’ve been together so long, we’ve had so many experiences together. And now this is one of the experiences we share. It’s great honour and a privilege to be sat here talking about our tour.
“We had a chat – do you shut down the website? Do you shut down the Facebook?
“This album is a celebration of us as a five, us as a four.”
“You’ll be hearing us as a five for the last time – it’s perfection. With permission from his family, we put it on the album.
“We were recording this album anyway. One of them Save The Last Dance For Me. We didn’t get to record that as a five.
“We’ll take care of the listeners.”
Lachie also spoke of how much of a shock Timmy’s death was to the band.
“It was a giant shock for everyone and to all our fans and supporters,” he said.
“We went underground but stayed together. We have stuck together like a band of brothers.”
Fans of The Overtones were quick to comment on the heartfelt interview on Twitter.
One viewer wrote: “SO much love for @the_overtones on #Lorraine New album will be amazing & cant wait for the tour.”
Another added: “Adore the @the_overtones boys such amazing voices can’t wait to@listen to the new album rest easy Timmy.”
The Overtones announced that Timmy had died in earlier this year in a post shared on Twitter.
It read: “It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away.
“We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us.
“We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time. Mike, Darren, Mark & Lachie x.”
Lorraine aires weekdays on ITV at 8.30am.
The final mission of Quantico‘s three-season run is a doozy: Take out a seemingly uncatchable crime boss who’s personally responsible for the deaths of several members of the team’s loved ones. Are Alex & Co. successful in their last outing? Of course — but their win exacts a serious price.
In a moment, we’ll want to know what you thought of the series-ender. But first, a quick recap of “Who Are You?”
Meghan and Prince Harry will be in the Republic of Ireland from Tuesday, July 10 to Wednesday, July 11.
The trip to Dublin will be their first official trip as a married couple.
In March, before they were married, the pair visited Belfast, Northern Ireland and Meghan wore a teal Kace skirt with flounce from Greta Constantine.
Meghan paired the skirt with Mai belted wool coat with a waterfall collar from Mackage, a Victoria Beckham cashmere sweater.
She accessorised with a Charlotte Elizabeth Bloomsbury bag, and velvet pumps from Prada.
So which designers will Meghan opt for in this month’s visit to Ireland?
Stand-out Irish designers at the moment include Simone Rocha, Paul Costelloe, Philip Treacy and Louise Kennedy.
Meghan made her first public appearance as a newlywed in a Philip Treacy hat.
At a Buckingham Palace Garden party in May she wore a custom-made Philip Treacy dome hat in blush pink to match her pink silk-crepe dress by British brand Goat.
Simone Rocha was considered to be in the running for designing Meghan’s wedding dress earlier this year.
Meghan’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, 36, often wears designers that are from the country she is visiting in homage to the culture and it seems that Meghan has followed in her footsteps when it comes to wearing regional designers on trips.
Kate is a fan of Dublin-born designer Orla Kiely, renowned for her retro prints. She wore the “Birdie” jacquard print coat-dress for a visit to Oxford in 2012.
While she is yet to make a visit abroad, Meghan has visited many UK cities with Prince Harry.
During their stay in Wales, Meghan chose Welsh brand Hieut Denim when styling black skinny jeans.
She also chose a tartan Burberry coat while visiting Scotland in February.
Kate has also influenced Meghan in a number of ways when it comes to learning the ways of the Royal Family when travelling.
Meghan has been seen with some very beautiful clutch bags when at royal events. The trend is also used by Kate, as it is a clever way to avoid any award introductions or meetings.
Etiquette expert Myka Meier told Good Housekeeping that it can be held in “both hands when shaking hands might be awkward”.
One thing that Meghan can no longer do when travelling is to sign autographs or take selfies.
Autographs are frowned upon in case they are copied or faked, while selfies are disliked by both the Queen and Prince Harry.
US anti-abortion activists, describing themselves as ‘journalists,’ have been campaigning across the historically Catholic country, calling on Irish citizens to vote ‘no’ to repealing the 8th amendment. If the referendum passes, it would pave the way for liberalizing the country’s strict abortion laws.
Online ads purchased outside Ireland have also been targeting the Irish electorate, sparking concerns from politicians and campaigners about illegal foreign influence. Under Irish law, foreign citizens and groups are not allowed to make any financial donations to Irish campaign groups. The ad bans do not extend online or on social media, meaning anyone is open to buying an ad on platforms like Facebook or Google.
Earlier this month, however, Facebook responded to worries about such ad buys by banning all foreign-bought ads related to the vote. Google followed suit with the announcement that it would suspend all ads relating to the referendum, including advertisements on YouTube and Google Adwords.
Despite these measures, some ads relating to Ireland’s abortion referendum appear to have slipped through the cracks, according to the Transparency Referendum Initiative – a group set up ahead of the referendum to monitor paid political ads on social media.
TRI Co-founder Liz Carolan shared screenshots of such ads still appearing on news sites including The Guardian, The Atlantic, and ProPublica.
We'll also continue to try understand the other online ads. Google say they banned #8thref ads, but we are still having large numbers of ads on websites & apps reported to us, perhaps by other co. like Adobe. Share ads you see with #TREF or via DM. Here's a sample from weekend pic.twitter.com/oyWtRJc7KJ
— Transparent Referendum Initiative (@TransparentRef) May 21, 2018
Or perhaps @TheAtlantic can explain why Irish people are getting political ads through its site and app – these were seen on Monday – do you use GoogleAds? If so could you check how these ads got through the ban? If not, who is providing this service? Cc @andersen@davidfrumpic.twitter.com/v9Fh7lEzOQ
— Liz Carolan (@LizCarolan) May 23, 2018
It appears that many of these ads are being served by @AdobeAdCloud. Despite Google banning the same ads because they're unregulated and to uphold "election integrity", Adobe are still accepting them.
Who's paying for the ads? How much is being spent? https://t.co/ziRrF3WtzX

Among the groups targeting Irish voters are Colorado-based anti abortion group Let Them Live and New York-based pro-life group Expectant Mother Care-EMC FrontLine Pregnancy Centers.
Campaigners from Let Them Live, founded by Emily Faulkner, travelled to Ireland earlier this month as self-styled pro-life ‘journalists.’ According to posts on their Facebook page, they have campaigned on the streets of Dublin and put up posters across the country.
RT has reached out to Let Them Live for comment on their political campaign activities in Ireland.
TRI has also identified at least seven groups purporting to provide neutral information on the referendum, but which are actually offering biased information towards one side or another.
Earlier this month, Irish journalist and transparency campaigner Gavin Sheridan pointed to one of these groups, Undecided8, highlighting that the website was hosted in New Jersey and there were no details provided on the people behind it.
