Nearly 600 activists, protesting Donald Trump’s ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against illegal immigrants, have been arrested after staging an occupy sit-in at the Hart Senate Office building in the nation’s capital. Hundreds of women, wrapped in metallic silver blankets, referencing the duvets given to migrant children in detention centers, occupied the Senate office building in Washington DC after marching down the streets of the city chanting “Shame! Shame! Shame!” and “This is what democracy looks like.” Demanding the closure of the detention centers for illegal immigrants, the activists made a brief stop in front of the Department of Justice, urging the government to “abolish ICE,” the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. The crowd then marched down to the federal premises, where they occupied the atrium and several floors, chanting “we care” and “where are the children?” in reference to minors separated from their parents at the US-Mexico border. READ MORE: Pentagon asked to accommodate ‘alien family population’ of 12,000 The crowd was joined by a number of US Senators who oppose Trump’s immigration policies, as well as other prominent people, among them as the actress Susan Sarandon. After repeated calls from the police demanding that they leave the premises or face arrest, officers were forced to move in, detaining at least 575 activists for “unlawful demonstration,” AP reported. Rep. Pramila Jayapal was one of those who were detained on Thursday, before being released with a fine. The Senate named its third office building in August 1976 for Senator Philip Hart, a Michigan Democrat with a reputation for political bravery and integrity. After Donald Trump announced his zero-tolerance policy on illegal border crossing in April, around 2,300 children were separated from their families. Facing a massive public backlash, last week Trump issued an order allowing families to stay together after being detained at the border. On Monday, US Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services reported that 538 kids had been reunited with their parents. The next day, a judge in California granted a preliminary injunction giving the government 30 days to reunify minors with their families, 14 days if the child is younger than five. Like this story? He is currently priced at 1/6 to win the gruelling talent show ahead of Brooke Vincent who is at 5/1. Max Evans holds odds of 14/1 to lift the coveted Dancing On Ice title. However, according to Ladbrokes, Jake is prices at 2/1 to join Coronation Street following the finale. The bookmaker told Express.co.uk he could move to Coronation Street after the finale: “He’s tried his hand at singing, skating and surviving in the jungle, and now it looks as though Jake will be the latest popstar set for a stint on the cobbles.” Although Jake has pretty much been the favourite since the beginning, the Dancing On Ice competitor hasn’t had a smooth ride to the final. Earlier this week, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star dislocated his thumb. The painful injury happened during rehearsals and Jake was immediately taken off the ice and given gas and air. Despite the setback, he assured Lorraine Kelly during her chat show that he would go ahead with the finale. He joked: “Even if I had one arm I’d be in the final. “I’ve loved every single second of it it’s been the best thing I’ve done and I’ve just fallen in love with skating.” Jake also opened up about his struggles with sleeping to Lorraine. “Sometimes, when I’m over-tired, or I’ve been on my mobile phone all night and I’m looking at that, I kind of wake up but I can’t move,” he explained. Jake continued: “I’m basically paralysed. My eyes are open but I can’t speak and you’re still in a dream. It’s really weird, it’s quite scary.” He admitted he rarely gets more than four to five hours sleep a night. Coronation Street continues tomorrow on ITV at 7.30pm, while the Dancing On Ice finale airs Sunday at 6pm on the same channel. The 50-year-old presenter’s comments come after Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford was knocked out of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby’s Dancing On Ice in week eight of the competition. Kate said that Alex should be chuffed with his “brilliant” effort, adding that it’s unlikely Piers would ever be brave enough to take on the same icy challenge. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Kate explained: “Alex has been ribbed by Piers since he returned from Dancing On Ice. But how brilliant has Alex been? “I don’t think anyone can really take that away from him. He was brilliant throughout. What a tough reality show to be part of. “Piers skates on thin ice a lot, but I don’t think you’ll see him on Dancing On Ice.” Kate also revealed that despite the team joking about feuds and tension while on air to make great television, they all get along well even when the cameras aren’t rolling. She continued: “Working with Piers? Oh, it’s lovely! It’s an absolute adventure. The whole gang are great. I think it’s a really great team at the moment, on and off screen. And it’s brilliant, yeah, great fun!” The popular host was presenting the award for best news and debate moment at the first ever Global Awards at the Hammersmith Apollo last night. Revealing her excitement, Kate said: “Because it’s the first one, nobody really quite knows what to expect. “But looking at the incredible line-up of artists performing and also people that are attending and nominated for awards… I think it’s going to be a busy night. “I’m doing the serious one, I’m doing the news moment. And I think the recipient of that, everyone will be really pleased to see because I think they’re people who are very special.” Co-host Piers, 52, is known for creating headlines on the ITV daytime show, and Kate teased that there are “so many” moments when working alongside him. She added: “My favourite moments of news and debate this last year, there’s so many moments aren’t there when you work with Piers Morgan. “It has been a brilliant year for entertainment, but it has also been an amazing year – not always in a good way – for the news events that we’ve had. “I think there’s something great about celebrating in the cold and the snow any everyone’s feeling all miserable. It’s about getting your glad rags on and celebrating. It’s good!” Kate also detailed how she manages to juggle her Good Morning Britain presenting role with her Smooth Radio gig. She said: “I come off air at about 8.30am, jump on the back of this taxi motorbike and it speeds me across town, jump out at the Global Radio, run into the studio and we’re away!” Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.

Perplexing sword-like columns of space ice that rise up through Pluto’s Tartarus Dorsa mountains may finally have been explained by NASA – two years after the weird formations were first observed in detail.
The ‘ice blades’ are the result of solid methane ‘evaporation,’ an erosion process similar to that witnessed in the peaks of Chile.
A dwarf planet located far from our sun, Pluto is so cold that the air on Earth would immediately freeze. It is predominantly comprised of frozen gases, such as methane, nitrogen and carbon monoxide.
Pluto’s ‘giant blades of ice’ have puzzled scientists ever since NASA’s New Horizon’s spacecraft first approached the dwarf planet in 2015 for more intimate data and imagery.
Thought to stretch as high as buildings such as New York’s Empire State skyscraper, the giant ice formations are located close to Pluto’s equator.
But the existence of the curiously-shaped ice blades suggests Pluto experiences temperature increases that would cause ice to go through ‘sublimation,’ a process by which ice skips the liquid stage of evaporation and disappears from a solid to a gas.
“When we realized that [the] bladed terrain consists of tall deposits of methane ice, we asked ourselves why it forms all of these ridges, as opposed to just being big blobs of ice on the ground,” said Jeffrey Moore, of NASA’s New Horizons team.
“It turns out that Pluto undergoes climate variation and sometimes, when Pluto is a little warmer, the methane ice begins to basically ‘evaporate’ away.”

It’s a similar question to the one which troubled famed biologist Charles Darwin in the 1800s, when he came across towers of ice at high-altitude along Chile’s Chajnantor plain.
Known as ‘penitentes,’ the thin ice blades are created on Earth when the sun’s rays unevenly turn snow drifts into water vapor.

Warning: Huge, enormous spoilers, if you have not seen the “Game of Thrones” season seven finale. Seriously, very big spoilers.
In the final scene of the epic, nearly 90 minute long “Game of Thrones” season finale, we finally see what has become of Viserion.
Viserion was killed by the Night King in last week’s episode of “Game of Thrones,” and was then turned into a White Walker or wight dragon by the Night King.
In the finale we got a look at how the Night King has begun to utilize Viserion as a weapon of his own. The Night King rode on Viserion’s back to The Wall, where Viserion proceeded to breathe blue fire upon The Wall, eventually causing it to melt and topple to the ground — allowing the White Walker and wight army to cross the barrier that’s kept them out of Westeros for centuries.
But some “Game of Thrones” fans, it seems, are a bit confused about what Viserion actually is following his reanimation, and have been referring to him as an “ice dragon.”

But, contrary to what fans might believe, Viserion isn’t actually an ice dragon.
The confusion makes sense. The blue flames coming out of Viserion’s mouth could easily be confused with ice, but these aren’t ice flames — they’re just blue flames.
George R.R. Martin has said in the past that ice dragons are a completely different species of dragon altogether – unlike the “common dragons” that we’ve come to know on the show.
Here’s what Martin had to say about ice dragons in “A World of Ice and Fire”:
“These colossal beasts, many times larger than the dragons of Valyria, are said to be made of living ice, with eyes of pale blue crystal and vast translucent wings through which the moon and stars can be glimpsed as they wheel across the sky.
Whereas common dragons (if any dragon can truly be said to be common) breathe flame, ice dragons supposedly breathe cold, a chill so terrible that it can freeze a man solid in half a heartbeat […] As ice dragons supposedly melt when slain, no actual proof of their existence has ever been found.”
So it’s important to note that turning Viserion into a White Walker or wight dragon did not in fact change the type of dragon he is, despite the icy blue color of his flames. Viserion is now merely an undead dragon with blue pigmentation that mirrors that of an ice dragon.

China has succeeded in extracting methane gas from solid deposits under the sea in an experiment that could eventually lead to the commercial production of what is being touted as an abundant new source of energy.
In a first for the country, engineers extracted the gas from the so-called “flammable ice” – methane hydrate, where the gas is trapped in ice crystals – and converted it to natural gas in a single, continuous operation on a floating production platform in the Shenhu area of the South China Sea, about 300km southeast of Hong Kong, the Ministry of Land and Resources said on Thursday.
Methane hydrate is formed in such abundance that the US Department of Energy has estimated the total amount could exceed the combined energy content of all other fossil fuels, sparking interest in the resource worldwide.
The US, Canada and Japan have been leading research into it, and Japan said earlier this month it had successfully produced natural gas from methane hydrate off its Pacific coast and plans to conduct continuous production for three to four weeks. Japan’s tests are being carried out on a ship, whereas China is using a floating platform.
China was a latecomer to the methane hydrate scene, but has been catching up fast since the discovery of promising reserves in the South China Sea in 2007. Earlier this year scientists built the nation’s first land-based drilling platform on the Tibetan Plateau, where abundant methane is trapped under the permafrost.
In the latest breakthrough, a bore head was lowered to extract the gas and convert it to natural gas, according to video footage shown on China Central Television.
“We brought the gas to the surface and have lit it up since May 10. By now, the drill has been running continually for eight days,” Ye Jianliang, project leader and deputy chief engineer at the China Geological Survey, told the broadcaster.
“The daily output [of gas] exceeds 10,000 cubic metres. The best day recorded 35,000 cubic metres,” Ye said.
Chen Yifeng, associate researcher with the Key Laboratory of Marginal Sea Geology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guangzhou, said the trial run was different from previous operations by other countries because it followed the procedures of commercial production.
Handout via South China Morning Post
“The technology and equipment they use is no longer for experimental purposes. They mean business,” she said.
But methane hydrate has its disadvantages, according to Chen. Unlike oil and natural gas reserves which are usually concentrated in confined spaces, the hydrates are often scattered over large areas on the sea floor, and extracting them was like “picking strawberries in a field”.
Handout via South China Morning PostAlso, unlike mineral ores, the “ice” cannot be taken straight out of the water because it would disintegrate with the loss of pressure. Sophisticated machinery and technology was required to depressurize or melt it on the sea bed and channel the gas to the surface.
She also noted that one reason why some countries had put commercial exploitation on hold was because of a fear of a massive escape of methane, a greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere, which could occur if drilling machines destroyed the stability of a seabed.
Some researchers have speculated that methane hydrate had caused a rapid buildup of pipeline pressure that led to the deadly explosion and subsequent massive oil spill on BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico seven years ago.
A mainland government energy researcher, who declined to be named, doubted whether commercialisation could begin any time soon.
“The government statement has not disclosed the cost, but at this stage, to produce natural gas from combustible ice is likely to make no economic sense,” the researcher said.
“China became the world’s first because no other country has the motivation to do it while oil prices remain low.”

Ice Energy
A Santa Barbara-based company called Ice Energy has partnered with NRG Energy to deliver 1,800 “ice batteries” to commercial and industrial buildings served by electric utility Southern California Edison (SCE). The units are expected to reduce air conditioning bills by up to 40 percent and eliminate 200,000 tons of CO2 over the next 20 years.
Ice Energy has been building ice-based cooling systems since the early 2000s. Much like pumped storage or compressed air “batteries,” Ice Energy essentially stores electricity by drawing power from the grid at non-peak times to freeze water in a special container. Then at peak times, when the cost of electricity is high and grid operators are struggling to keep up with demand, Ice Energy’s systems kick in and use that block of ice to cool the space that the air conditioning unit normally serves.

Yuri On Ice fans are still waiting for the announcement of Season 2 of the popular Japanese anime. Fortunately, there are several reasons why the anime deserves a sequel.
Season 1 of Yuri On Ice had just 12 episodes. However, the creators of the anime managed to capture the attention of hundreds of thousands of anime fans with its unorthodox theme and engaging storyline. YOI depicted the story of figure skaters, and also managed to show the blossoming of love between two male competitors, a subject that is rarely tackled in a Japanese anime or manga.
Despite the anime ending in 2016, Yuri On Ice has managed to not only retain its fans, but even managed to garner new ones. The phenomenal sale of the DVDs is ample indicator of the show’s popularity. Interestingly, the show has won the approval of some of the 2018 Winter Olympics favorites as well, reported Anime News Network. Many real-life athletes have expressed their appreciation to the anime series and noted they are eager for a sequel to YOI.

Although persistent demands and active discussions about the anime haven’t allowed the rumors of Season 2 of Yuri On Ice to die out, there are quite few justifiable reasons that demand a sequel to the anime. Besides the fact that Yuri and Victor’s relationship that extends beyond competitive skating had begun to blossom only towards the end of season 1, there are quite a few aspects that need to be explored.
RELATED REPORTS BY THE INQUISITR
The creative genius behind Yuri On Ice, Mitsurou Kubo, had painstakingly developed all the characters that make an appearance in YOI. She had categorically mentioned that all the characters are extensively detailed because they deserved their moment in the spotlight, however brief it may be. In the process, she had crafted all these characters with unique and engaging backstories that haven’t been explored. Hence Season 2 of Yuri On Ice has a lot of material left unexplored.

Despite being a painfully short 12-episode series, Yuri On Ice has experienced astounding success not only in Japan, but also across the globe. With beautiful choreography accompanied by mesmerizing compositions that mimicked real-life performances, Yuri On Ice became one of the rarest of Japanese anime that boldly explored a completely different path. Japanese manga and animation have traditionally stayed true to the fantastical worlds filled with great-looking superheroes with even grander superpowers. However, YOI chose to rely on real-life performances and performers whose traits and even state of mind were visible in the lead characters.
The success of the first season of YOI itself is one of the primary reasons the anime series deserves a sequel. Fortunately, Kubo herself has expressed her desire for Season 2 of Yuri On Ice, and hinted that she has some material ready. Hence it is quite likely that the team behind the popular Japanese anime about the messy yet beautiful and heartwarming connection Yuri experiences with his coach Victor, is already deep into development of the sequel of YOI.
