“Dear Los Angeles, you’re welcome.”
That’s how the braggadocious Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced his arrival in the MLS after agreeing to join the LA Galaxy. And while some might’ve found such a bold proclamation unwise, it didn’t take much for Zlatan, who once compared himself to God, to back up his words on the pitch.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

Ibrahimovic made seven appearances for United this season, scoring once in their EFL Cup defeat to Bristol City in December.
But he will not see out the campaign with the club announcing he has left Old Trafford as a move to the MLS with LA Galaxy beckons.
A United statement read: “Manchester United confirms that it has agreed to the termination of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract with immediate effect.
“Everyone at the club would like to thank Zlatan for his contribution to the team since his arrival and wishes him well for the future.”
He said in a statement on social media: “Great things also come to an end and it is time to move on after two fantastic seasons with Manchester United.
“Thank you to the club, the fans, the team, the coach, the staff and everybody who shared with me this part of my history. #foreverred”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure brings an end to a 21-month spell in England, which began in July 2016.
Ibrahimovic scored 29 goals in 53 appearances after joining Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
And he played a pivotal role as Jose Mourinho’s side won the Europa League, EFL Cup and Community Shield last season.
Ibrahimovic’s career was left hanging by a thread last April when he suffered a serious knee injury.
He underwent rehabilitation at United’s Carrington training base before signing a new contract with them last August.
The effects of that injury limited Ibrahimovic to just seven appearances in all competitions this term though.
And Jose Mourinho suggested he could leave Old Trafford in January, with MLS clubs said to be keen on him.
Ibrahimovic is now expected to head across the Atlantic, with LA Galaxy the frontrunners to get him on-board.
Ibrahimovic’s move brings the curtain down on his 19-year senior career in Europe, which has taken in spells with eight clubs.
The 36-year-old joined Ajax from Malmo as a teenager before heading to Serie A with Juventus in 2004.
Moves to Inter Milan, Barcelona and AC Milan followed, with PSG his final club ahead of his switch to United.
Ibrahimovic made 116 appearances for Sweden, but has hinted he could return to action for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Everton vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest Premier League news, goals and updates from Goodison Park
Everton vs Manchester United LIVE: Express Sport brings you the latest Premier League updates from Goodison Park 36: The biggest cheer of the night so far is for Paul Pogba tripping over the ball… Wayne Rooney is a lucky boy. He attempts to control Ashley William’s clearance and Herrera robs him before firing over. 33: I don’t think there’s any doubting that Yannick Bolasie has got the legs on Victor Lindelof down the flank. The only problem? There’s nobody in the box to convert his crosses. Everton vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest Premier League news, goals and updates from Goodison Park 29: United are tuning the screw and almost get their reward. Martial and Shaw combine to leave Holgate in the lurch and the full-backs cross is parried away by Pickford. 26: Phil Jones has a crack from the better part of 35-yards but it flies out of the stadium and I’ll bet it’s still travelling now. No wonder he’s not scored in six years! 23: Rojo to the rescue! Niasse bundles his way past Jones but the Argentine international makes a superb covering tackle. 20: Davies tries his luck from distance but it’s deflected over. Wayne Rooney trots over to deliver… Vlasic pounces on the loose ball but Lingard does enough to put him off. 17: Anthony Martial spoils a promising attack by blazing the ball miles over the bar. Moment of madness from the Frenchman. 14: Close! Paul Pogba does well to beat his man before sending a cutback into the area that someone alludes everyone. Could easily have been the opener. 11: Another corner for the hosts. Rooney’s taking all the set-pieces today with Sigurdsson on the bench. It’s a poor cross and United have themselves a goalkick. Not seen a huge amount from the visitors going forward, but you wouldn’t say Everton have tested them either. Tempo has dropped. Everton vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest Premier League news, goals and updates from Goodison Park 8: Wayne Rooney’s strike is deflected wide for a corner, which Mason Holgate nods over unmarked. I notice that Manchester United left three players upfield for that set-piece. They’re fighting fire with fire. 5: Such a lively start to this one. Niasse almost catches Marcos Rojo out but David De Gea is there to collect his toe-poke. At the other end, Jordan Pickford is off his line quickly to prevent Lingard from latching onto a ball over the top. 3: Yannick Bolasie doesn’t waste any time in settling back into the starting XI. A couple of silky skills sees him walk past Lindelof, who’s playing at right-back. EVERTON 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED 1: Aaaaand we’re off folks! I’ve got a sneaky suspicion this is going to be a classic, and I’m not just saying that to keep you reading. Or am I…? 17:29: Before KO, a minute’s applause begins, a video plays on screen and fans in the Park End hold up a mosaic to pay tribute to the Everton fans who died in 2017. TWO-MINUTE WARNING 17:28: The two sides are emerging from the tunnel to filthy Merseyside weather now folks. It’s cold, windy and extremely wet. We’re almost underway. Everton vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest Premier League news, goals and updates from Goodison Park DIFFERENT KIT 17:25: Updates from our reporter Jack Wilson. Everton will wear a new one-off kit for their clash with Manchester United tonight. The Toffees players will sport a different logo on the front of their shirts – swapping regular sponsors SportPesa for ‘Kits for Africa’. SportPesa have partnered with Kits For Africa as part of kit donation campaign for Everton’s first fixture of 2018.. It’s hoped that with with the game broadcast live on Sky Sports, millions of football fans around the world will learn about the kit donation scheme designed to support underprivileged grassroots football teams across Africa. SportPesa and Everton has been collecting kits donated by fans, players and members of the public at home games in December before distributing them throughout Africa. Everton vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest Premier League news, goals and updates from Goodison Park ROONEY RETURN 17:23: The first blip of Sam Allardyce’s Everton reign – no wins in three games – has coincided with Wayne Rooney’s absence from the starting line-up through a bout of illness. But Rooney came on for the second half at Bournemouth on Saturday and starts against former club Manchester United at Goodison Park. Few might have imagined that Rooney would have as many Premier League goals as United’s top scorer (Lukaku) at the start of 2018, and a Rooney winner at Goodison would heap more misery on his former club. AFTERNOON
17:10: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of Everton vs Manchester United from Goodison Park.
Draws against Leicester and Burnley either side of Christmas severely undermined United’s status as challengers to Manchester City and Saturday’s 0-0 shutout at home to Southampton means they are now sitting third in the standings.
The problems are racking up for manager Jose Mourinho, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s knee problem keeping him out for a month and Romelu Lukaku taken off on a stretcher after a nasty clash of heads with Wesley Hoedt.
Everton, who are vastly improved since the arrival of Sam Allardyce, await. Let’s get going!
EVERTON vs MANCHESTER UNITED – PREVIEW
Idrissa Gueye should feature again for Everton after hamstring trouble but Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley are still sidelined.
Boss Sam Allardyce will assess James McCarthy and Yannick Bolasie before deciding whether to start the duo – McCarthy lasted just half of the loss at Bournemouth, while Bolasie has only recently returned from a long-term knee injury.
United’s Romelu Lukaku is out with a head injury and fellow striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic faces a month out with a recurrence of a knee problem.
Ashley Young is banned after accepting a violent conduct charge. Midfielders Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini and defender Eric Bailly remain sidelined, while there are question marks over Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian.
Last season: Man Utd 1 Everton 1, Everton 1 Man Utd 1
Last five league matches: Everton W W D D L; Man Utd W W D D D
Top scorers (all competitions): Wayne Rooney (Everton) 11; Romelu Lukaku (Man Utd) 15
Ibrahimovic was a surprise inclusion in the match day squad for United in last weekend’s 4-1 win over Newcastle and fans were even more surprised to see him come off the bench and play.
He wasn’t expected back until at least the New Year but instead took up his place at the head of United’s attack.
As Ibrahimovic made his way on to the field he immediately gestured to Lukaku to play out wide and the same happened in the week against Basel.
It remains to be seen what Jose Mourinho will do when Ibrahimovic is 100 per cent match-fit, but Carragher believes Lukaku shouldn’t be intimidated by the 36-year-old.
“Everyone at Manchester United will be thrilled by the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Everyone except one man: Romelu Lukaku,” Carragher wrote in The Telegraph.
“When Ibrahimovic stepped back onto the pitch last weekend the dynamic of his relationship with Lukaku was evident.
“Zlatan delivered the instruction to his team-mate to play wide. Lukaku obliged, the younger player obedient to the senior professional.
“It happened again in Basel. He will not have liked it.
He added: “You see the power of Ibrahimovic’s personality in interviews. Standing next to Paul Pogba he is like an elder statesman with an apprentice.
“Pogba – one of the most expensive players in the world – looks like he is an awe of Ibrahimovic.
“This is an aura few players possess. Lukaku has to overcome that, puff out his chest and remember he cost £75 million and has as much claim to leading the line.”
Manchester United welcomed Ibrahimovic back into the fray at the weekend, with the 36-year-old coming on in a 4-1 win over Newcastle.
Many are expecting big things of the veteran yet again with Ibrahimovic aiming to build on his 28-goal tally from last season.
However, manager Jose Mourinho faces a huge selection dilemma with Lukaku currently his preferred option up top.
But Yahoo Sport say that Manchester United gaffer Mourinho may turn the Belgium international into a winger in order to accommodate Ibrahimovic.
Many expect the Swede to take up the No10 role now he is fit again.
United have struggled in that department this season with Mourinho seemingly reluctant to trust Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in that role.
Ibrahimovic himself appeared to recently hint at a change of position by saying: “To me, number 10 is the star.
”The one who makes the difference, gets noticed, wins the matches and is the leader.
“And I see myself in that position but it is not something that is given to you, it is just something you are, that’s just the way it is.”
However, Yahoo Sport say Mourinho may adopt a similar approach to what he did with Samuel Eto’o while at Inter Milan.
Mourinho signed the striker from Barcelona with Ibrahimovic coincidentally heading in the opposite direction.
But though Eto’o was regarded as one of the best forwards in world football at the time, Mourinho played him out wide in order to get the best out of Diego Milito.
Mourinho may choose to do the same with Lukaku, who blossomed on the flanks when Everton beat Arsenal 3-0 in April 2014.
Instead of walking round the barriers to talk to the waiting media in the interview area, the big Swede vaulted them as if to show his seven-month lay-off with a knee injury has not had any adverse effect on him physically or psychologically.
Clearly it has not diminished his predilection for bold statements either.
He claims that United, with all their big players back, can reel-in runaway neighbours Manchester City and ensure a two-horse rather than one-horse race for the Premier League title.
Ibrahimovic has won the League in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France and adding the English version was one of the chief motivations that fuelled his ahead-of-schedule return from an injury he says was far worse than has been publicly revealed.
“We can chase down City, why is it not a possibility?,” he said. “We are all here because we want to win and we need to because they are first.
“There is a possibility to win everything: The Premier League and the Champions League. We won two trophies last season and we are stronger this season. We believe we can do it – that’s the aim. To win and get the trophies.
“This week the manager has been very happy because he has a full team for the first time this season and as a coach you want those opportunities and alternatives to make changes.
“We just need to pick and choose. He knows what he is doing even when the number of players are limited because he’s a winner and has been winning every season.”
The man who likens himself to a lion rather than a human admitted he needed the strength of such a beast to recover from his injury.
“I told you, lions don’t recover like humans,” said Ibrahimovic. “That I have now proved, rather than just saying it. But if people knew what kind of injury I had, they would be in shock that I’m even playing again.
“People believe I only had an ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] injury but I had more stuff in my knee that was injured. I want to keep that to myself, though, because I don’t need to tell the world. It’s very sensitive.
“I am just thankful I am able to run, do my things, do a little bit of ‘abracadabra’ magic, things that a lion does!”
Even more important than Ibrahimovic’s comeback for Manchester United, however, was Paul Pogba’s man-of-the-match return from a two-month lay-off with a torn hamstring.
With an assist for setting up Anthony Martial’s goal plus a 70-yard sprint to claim a tap-in himself, he showed that he is the man who makes United tick, bringing out the best in his team-mates and providing Jose Mourinho’s side with a greater creativity.
Even Ibrahimovic’s ego allowed him to pay tribute to the influence of the France midfielder. He said: “I can talk of what Paul brings – big quality. Today it was like he hasn’t been injured for two months, he brings such big quality, a different quality. And I bring experience and my quality. I try to help the guys much as possible and do what I can.”
It was not quite the perfect day for Mourinho, even though United ended up by equalling a club record of 38 unbeaten home games in all competitions which started on September 24 2016, matching the run under Sir Alex Ferguson between December 26 1998 and April 19 2000.
But for half an hour Newcastle were the better team and deservedly took the lead when Dwight Gayle became the first opposition player to score a Premier League goal at Old Trafford since April when he capitalised on Victor Lindelof’s slip to guide home Deandre Yedlin’s cross.
But once Pogba had set up Martial for the equaliser there was only going to be one winner. Chris Smalling headed home Ashley Young’s header just before the break, Pogba tapped in the third, after a good work by Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford, before Lukaku ended his seven-game drought by smashing home the fourth.
Manager Rafa Benitez, with a thinly-veiled message for any prospective buyers of Newcastle, admitted that in the end United’s greater quality told. “I was proud of my team in the first 30 minutes but if you pay big money for players, they can make the difference,” he said.
Man Utd (4-1-4-1): De Gea 6; Valencia 7, Lindelof 5, Smalling 7, Young 7; Matic 7; Rashford 6, Mata 7 (Herrera 83, 5), Pogba 8 (Fellaini 70, 6), Martial 7 (Ibrahimovic 77, 6); Lukaku 7. Booked: Smalling. Goals: Martial 37, Smalling 45, Pogba 54, Lukaku 70. NEXT UP: Basel (a), CL Wed.
Newcastle (4-4-): Elliot 6; Yedlin 7, Clark 7, Lejuene 6, Manquillo 6; Murphy 6, Shelvey 7, Hayden 6, Ritchie 6 (Aarons 66, 5); Joselu 5 (Mitrovic 71, 5), Gayle 6 (Diame 77, 5). Booked: Hayden. Goal: Gayle 14. NEXT UP: Watford (h), PL Sat.
Referee: C. Pawson (S Yorks).
Pogba has been out for 12 games with a torn hamstring while Ibrahimovic and Rojo have been absent since both ruptured knee ligaments in the Europa League quarter-final with Anderlecht in April.
Midfielder Pogba’s return is particularly significant because United’s form has suffered since he was injured ealry in the Champions League home clash with basel on September 12. Striker Romelu Lukaku has also suffered from the absence of Pogba’s creativity and hans’t scored for seven games..
Mourinho said: “All three are selected for the match. You can clearly that there was Manchester Untied this season before Paul’s injury and then after Paul injury.
“There are qualities in our football that influence our approach in matches, with Pogba and without Pogba, that’s as simple as that. Paul is obviously not the same dimension as the others because it was not a surgical situation but it was also bad and it is good to have all three are back.”
Mourinho praised Ibrahimovic’s character for fighting back ahead of schedule from a career-threatening injury at the age of 37.
He added: “Last season we played Zlatan every minute almost until he was injured but this season we learned how to play without him but he’s still a very important player for us and of course we welcome him back.
“He’s shown incredible personality to fight such an important injury. We were saying all along that he will back in 2017 but being back on December 31 is one thing but to be back in mid-November is another.
“As an injured player he has been the same super pro that he is when he’s fit. So fantastic work from – the same as Marcos, who had an important injury too, and a big surgery. He played with the under 23s on Wednesday and ihe s fine, he is confident, and he is also ready.”
Of the three, Pogba is the most likely to start while Ibrahimovic and Rojo are set to be on the bench against Newcastle when United will be bidding to equal the colub record of 38 home matches unbeaten in all competitions.
Mourinho said: “Zlatan has made a full recover but you cannot expect him to play 90 minutes or consecutive matches like he did all his career.
“Now he needs time to be back for his level, his fitness, his confidence, everything, his sharpness, but by the clinical point of view is fantastic to be ready.”
Asked if Ibrahimovic and Lukaku can play together, Mourinho said: “It is easy because good players can play together.”
And he was delighted that Lukaku ended hsi barren scoring run by setting a new Belgium international scoring run during the week.
He said: “He’s an iconic player for his country and for Romely to be so young beating the record is fantastic. He is very young and he has 10 more years to play for his country so I can imagine the numbe rof goals he will end up with is amazing.
Mourinho is not interested in equalling the unbeaten home run of 37 games ste by sir Alex Ferugosn’s team between 1998 and 2000 – he just wants to get back on the winning track after losing two of their last three Premier League games. They have yet to concede a goal at home in either the Prmeier League or Champions League this season.
He said: “We don’t play for records and if you concede a goal but we score two at least I’m happy.
“We defend as a team, we try to defend as a team and our numbers show exactly that collective effort, but the objective is to win matches at home, the objective is not to concede goals, of course if you don’t concede you are closer to win matches but that is not an obsession for us.
“The record means absolutely nothing for us. We lost the last match we need points, I know the way Newcastle plays and the way Rafa Benitez prepares his teams.”
Manchester United started the season in fine form with Pogba’s contribution to the fore.
However, a hamstring injury has robbed the France international to build on a promising start to the campaign.
Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, has been out of action since injuring his knee in a Europa League clash against Anderlecht in April.
And Mourinho, speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle, has revealed both players are in contention to play tomorrow.
“The players that stayed here recovering from injuries, even the ones that are recovering from big injuries, they are ready to play,” he said.
Marcos Rojo is also in contention to play.
Meanwhile, speaking yesterday, Ibrahimovic confirmed he was raring to go after months on the sidelines.
“The first thing I said to myself was that giving up was not an alternative,” he said.
“I have come this far and I will finish on my terms, not anyone else’s.
“I will stop when I want, in the way that I want.
“That is my goal and it will happen. There are no other options
“I was not going to let this injury stop me. The will to get better, wanting to do more, never giving up. Daring to take it to new levels where there are no limits.”

Mourinho and Ibrahimovic were in attendance as Sweden earned a 1-0 win to take the advantage in their World Cup play-off match against Italy.
Looking on from the stands in Stockholm, the Manchester United boss will have been impressed by man of the match Emil Forsberg.
The RB Leipzig midfielder was a stand-out performer in the victory, and is reportedly on Mourinho’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window.
Current Red Devils defender Victor Lindelof also featured during the clash, playing 90 minutes as the home side earned a vital clean sheet.
Seated just along from Mourinho, Ibrahimovic will have also been keen to see how his countrymen performed.
The 36-year-old is nearing a return to full fitness, having been sidelined since last season with knee ligament damage.

Manchester United hero Cole shared an image of himself with Ibrahimovic in the gym last week.
Ibrahimovic has been out of action since April after sustaining a serious knee injury in the Red Devils’ Europa League clash with Anderlecht at Old Trafford.
It meant he missed the chance to play in the Europa League final but, having signed on again in August, he is ready to provide an added dimension to Jose Mourinho’s attack.
And Cole says that Ibrahimovic will be back at Mourinho’s disposal in January, despite some reports claiming he could be back on the pitch for Manchester United by the end of the month.
“Really good. Back next year, I think, so he’s done well really,” he told the Sun.
“He’ll get games because he’s got so much quality. And he’s brilliant in the dressing room.
“I love Zlatan. He tells you how it is. He’s legendary.”
Ibrahimovic hit 28 goals for United last season after arriving on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, despite that contribution, Mourinho’s side are coping just fine without him.
The Red Devils have won six of their first seven Premier League games, with a 1-1 draw with Stoke the only blip on the record.
And Ibrahimovic’s replacement, Romelu Lukaku, has bagged 11 goals from his first 10 games since signing from Everton.
United will be aiming to continue their stunning start when they face Liverpool at Anfield this afternoon (12.30pm).
