When Pininfarina teased its PF0 electric hypercar in March, it didn’t do more than promise a massive amount of power and a 2020 launch. It’s starting to dribble out details, however, and it now looks like the PF0 may deliver the best of all worlds — at a cost. In separate interviews with Wired and The Verge, the company has provided both teaser pictures of the PF0 (surprise: it’s sleek) and performance numbers that could make Tesla Roadster buyers at least momentarily nervous. It can reach a blistering 250MPH top speed, reach 60MPH in under two seconds and provide about 310 miles of driving range. You’ll no doubt have to be gentle on the throttle to achieve that last figure, but this is theoretically a vehicle you can take on a city-to-city jaunt with some bursts of mind-numbing quickness in between.

The company also promises Porsche Taycan-like charging times of 10 to 15 minutes for 80 percent capacity. Even the battery placement matters — where Tesla and others usually put the battery in the floor to make space for passengers, Pininfarina is putting most of the battery in a central tunnel that will help it keep the PF0 low to the ground. The interior technology is up for grabs, but the company said it would rather integrate tech companies’ work than do most of the work itself.

The eco-friendly aspect should extend beyond the powerplant, too. It’s promising paints without chemical ingredients, natural wood and other “ethically sourced” materials.

As we hinted at earlier, though, you’ll be paying a stiff premium for a vehicle on this level. Pininfarina estimated that the PF0 will cost between $ 2 million and $ 2.5 million, putting it closer to the Bugatti Chiron (starting at roughly $ 3 million). It’ll be hard to see, for that matter. Only its well-to-do potential customers will get a first peek at the vehicle at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August, and everyone else will have to wait until the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March.

That price might make it a tough sell in some cases. Tesla has already vowed comparable acceleration and top speed for the Roadster, and it will seem like a veritable bargain at ‘just’ $ 200,000. And that’s before you throw in some outlandish performance packages that could give it the edge. Pininfarina may have to lean on both its Italian design flair and a posh interior to convince wealthy EV fans that it’s worth the premium.

We’ve reported earlier that the upcoming McLaren Ultimate Series “Hyper-GT” BP23 will be a seriously fast machine. Today, McLaren set a top speed target for it: The limited-edition hybrid hypercar will surpass the legendary McLaren F1 from the 1990s. That car reached the top speed of 243 mph, or 391 km/h; it appears the manufacturer wants the new car to hit or exceed 400 km/h. Maybe it’ll even top 250 mph. The indicated 243 mph speed illustrated in the teaser sketch is a nice touch.

The BP23 will hit the highest top speed of any McLaren yet. It will feature nods to the original McLaren F1 in several ways, including the centrally mounted driver seat flanked with passenger seats. That 106-unit production run also refers to the original F1 road car’s sales figure.

The finished vehicles will all be done to any specific customer’s taste, as they will be seen through by McLaren’s Special Operations division. McLaren is still keeping a few surprises to itself, as the actual top speed along with the BP23’s actual name will be revealed closer to the car’s unveiling. McLaren also hints the name will be something more special “rather than an alphanumeric nomenclature.”

Since the Tesla Roadster was revealed at the  launch towards the end of 2017, a new benchmark was set for manufacturers. 

It boasted an unbelievable top speed of over 250mph and a 0-60mph speed of 1.9 seconds – the first car ever to travel 0-60mph in sub-two seconds. 

According to reports Rimac adjusted their targets, with the creation of the Concept Two, after hearing the specs for the Roadster. 

The Concept Two was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and it boasts an unbelievable set of specs. 

Rimac claims that the car can travel form 0-60mph in just 1.85 seconds and has a top speed of 258mph – trumping the estimates from Tesla for the Roadster.

Whats more it can go from 0-100mph in 4.3 seconds and a quarter mile in just 9.1 seconds. 

Powering the car is four electric motors producing 1,914 bhp and 2,300Nm of torque and are fed by the 120kWh of batteries split into two packs. 

Rimac claims that the car will have 650km (403 miles) of range, however, claim that it will be affected when utilising the car’s full power. 

Its battery pack is made up from a lithium-manganese-nickel combination and can be recharged up to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes if connected to a fast charger.  

The C Two is also set up for Level 4 autonomy thanks to its eight cameras, lidar, six radars and twelve ultrasonic sensors. 

It comes with a list of driver assistances systems including lane assist and auto braking. 

The car is also pretty smart too and uses facial recognition to open its butterfly doors and starting the engine, negating the use of a key. 

Rimac also claims the car can read your mood it will play soothing music and and soften the ride if it senses your stress or anger. 

The car’s design is sleek, aggressive and sporty and doesn’t overtly scream that it is an EV, like some electric vehicles do, and has all the credentials of a petrol hypercar. 

It is clearly inspired by the Concept One but comes with a new front fascia, bonnet, doors, panels, spoiler and rear diffuser. 

Inside the car is equally as stunning. 

It features a digital driver concept and large central touchscreen to control the infotainment. 

Prices for the car have yet to be divulged but previously the manufacturer said it will cost more than the $ 1million Concept One.

It all but matches or exceeds the Tesla Roadster except for range and price, but unlike that car it is here now, three years earlier. 

C Two is expensive it deserves to be. 

Its pretty, eye-wateringly quick and has more range than its petrol counterparts, so it is less a Tesla killer and more like a petrol killer.
