Android fans are being warned after almost 150 apps on the Google Play Store were found to be loaded with malware. The majority of the infected apps were released on the Google Play Store between October and November 2017. So the nefarious Android apps have been on the Google Play Store for more than half a year. Among the apps are a number which have more than 1,000 installations and are promoted by four-star ratings. However, unlike other recent Android security threats this time around there is a catch. The malware found on the 145 apps that were located on the Google Play Store contains malicious Microsoft Windows executable files. So this malware cannot infect Android devices because it needs a Windows system to be executed. However, Palo Alto Networks, who made the discovery, warned that this latest malware discovery is a “threat to the software supply chain”. In a blog post, the security experts said: “The fact that these APK files are infected indicates that the developers are creating the software on compromised Windows systems that are infected with malware. “This type of infection is a threat to the software supply chain, as compromising software developers has proven to be an effective tactic for wide scale attacks.” They added: “Most of the infected apps were released to Google Play between October 2017 and November 2017, which means these apps have been in Google Play for more than half a year.” The only way for the malware to infect affected Android devices is if the phone is connected to a Windows computer. And then any of the infected apps’ source code would have to be downloaded to run the PE file hidden inside. Palo Alto said: “The malicious PE files cannot directly run on the Android hosts. “However, if the APK file is unpacked on a Windows machine and the PE files are accidentally executed, or the developers also issue Windows-based software, or if the developers are infected with malicious files runnable on Android platforms, the situation will go much worse.” They added: “The development environment is a critical part of the software development life cycle. “We should always try to secure it first. “Otherwise other security countermeasures could just be attempts in vain.” Some of the infected apps Palo Alto listed include ‘Learn to Draw Clothing’, ‘Modification Trail’ and ‘Gymnastics Training Tutorial’. All of the infected 145 apps have now been removed from the Google Play Store.

Questions like the one Einstein asked himself, “What would you see if you were traveling on a beam of light?” In The Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future, Kevin Kelly writes, “Questioning is more powerful than answering.” He discusses how the technologies that generate questions will be more valued in the future than the technologies that generate answers. He comments,
“At the end of the day, a world of super smart ubiquitous answers encourage a quest for the perfect question. What makes a perfect question? Ironically, the best questions are not questions that lead to answers, because answers are on their way to becoming cheap and plentiful. A good question is worth a million good answers.”
I wholeheartedly agree with Kelly. So, what makes a great question? Let’s look at a list from Kelly.
For each discussion, I created metaphors to further our understanding of what makes a good question.
Metaphor: Answers are buried deep within our mind. While we might not find the right answer we are looking for, we will find better questions the deeper we dig.
Metaphor: Our mind is like a large building with a long winding corridor, where the corridor is like a series of questions within our mind. Each room along the corridor serves as a gap between our thoughts and questions. Where each room possesses either an answer or another question.
“Over time, the cloud, the machine, or AI will learn to articulate what is known and not known. While the answer machine can expand answers infinitely, our time to form the next question is very limited.” – Kevin Kelly
Metaphor: Unknown answers are like trees planted in our mind, where ideas are the branches and questions are the seeds of growth. The better the seed, the increased likelihood of ideas branching off one another.
Metaphor: Just as trees require time for growth, so do great questions. Yet, you must first plant the seed.
Metaphor: A great question is like a rock, where existing answers are like a glass window. Innovation and new answers emerge by shattering the glass window with a rock.
Metaphor: An existing answer is like religion, where a great question is challenging the existing answer. We must challenge our current view of religion in order to seek an undivided answer.
Metaphor: A great question is like following a white rabbit down a rabbit hole, where the question is the hole itself. You had no previous awareness of the existence of the hole, yet the further you fall, the greater your desire for an answer.
Metaphor: Imagine seeing a door all your life, yet you have never opened the door because it lacked a door knob. A great question is like a door knob appearing out of thin air. By opening the door, you are made aware of an entirely new reality. You notice yet another door as you walk through it. However, it also lacks a door knob.
Metaphor: Life is like space, where we do not know exactly what is out there. Probing what-if questions are like a shuttle that carries us further into the unknown.
Metaphor: A great question is like an ocean. An ocean has a deepest part. Therefore, a question has a deepest part.
Metaphor: A great question is like a library full of books, where each book leads to even more great questions.
Metaphor: A great question is like the number Pi. Where Pi cannot be expressed as a common fraction (or an answer). Just as the digits of Pi can go on and on with no pattern, questions can generate a never-ending series of new questions.
Metaphor: We cannot predict great questions. Just as Google cannot predict exactly what you will be doing, thinking, and feeling twenty years from now.
Metaphor: Just as we cannot predict our next thought by asking what our next thought will be – we cannot predict great questions. If we could, they would be an answer, not a question.
Metaphor: A fish swimming in clear water is like the mind of a child, where the clear water is like great questions uncluttered by answers. The mind of a child is like an educated mind.
Metaphor: A fish swimming in dirty water is like the mind of an adult, where the dirty water is like previous answers preventing questions from being asked. The adult mind is like an uneducated mind – a mind with the perception that it has all the answers.
Metaphor: A great question is like the birth of a child. The birth does not reveal an answer, yet it does reveal something better… more fascinating questions.
Metaphor: A great question is like the pause between musical notes.
“A good question is what humans are for.” – Kevin Kelly
Instead of using a metaphor here, let’s discuss a book by Douglas Adams called The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. To prevent massive spoilers, I will only use an example from Adams first book in the series.
In the book, the number 42 is revealed to be the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything calculated by a gigantic supercomputer named Deep Thought. The answer was generated over a period of 7.5 million years to compute and check the answer. The computer responded that the answer seemed meaningless because the beings who instructed it never knew what the question was. The same beings then asked Deep Thought to produce the ultimate question, for which the supercomputer said it could not. However, Deep Thought said it would help design an even more powerful computer that can.
Finally, let me leave you with one last question. This is my great question and it fascinates me.

Steve Bannon, President Donald Trump’s former top strategist, alleged in journalist Michael Wolff’s tell-all book about the Trump White House that the president’s longtime attorney, Marc Kasowitz, “took care” of 100 women during the presidential campaign.
“Look, Kasowitz has known [Trump] for twenty-five years. Kasowitz has gotten him out of all kinds of jams,” Bannon reportedly said. “Kasowitz on the campaign — what did we have, a hundred women? Kasowitz took care of all of them.”
This apparently off-hand remark may take on new significance after The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that another lawyer for the president, Michael Cohen, sent $ 130,000 to a porn star just weeks before the 2016 presidential election to keep her silent about an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump.
The Journal reported that Cohen, who was the Trump Organization’s top attorney for about a decade, arranged for the payment to Stephanie Clifford, whose stage name is Stormy Daniels, in October 2016 after a negotiation between her lawyer and Cohen on a nondisclosure agreement.
Clifford has said privately that the encounter happened at a July 2006 celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, the newspaper reported.
Trump married his third wife, Melania Trump, in 2005.
Cohen said in a statement to The Journal that Trump “once again vehemently denies any such occurrence as has Ms. Daniels.” Cohen also did not address any payment.
Bannon made the remark about the 100 women as part of a larger discussion about the president’s top advisors, some of whom he disparaged at length in Wolff’s controversial book, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” which the president has condemned as “full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist.”
New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg drew attention to Bannon’s comment in a tweet on Friday afternoon, shortly after the publication of the Journal report.

At least 22 women have accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct — including ogling, harassment, groping, and rape — between the 1970s and 2013.
Another adult-film star, Jessica Drake, in October 2016 accused Trump of kissing her without permission at that same 2006 golf tournament that Clifford attended. The White House has called her accusation “totally false and ridiculous.”
Allan Smith contributed to this report.

The opener started the day on 104 but ended it with a towering and unbeaten 244 as he led them to a 164-runs lead.
And in doing so Cook helped himself to a host of new records.
This second double century on Australian soil was the highest score by a visiting batsman eclipsing Viv Richards’ 208 here in 1984.
It placed Cook in exalted company indeed with just Wally Hammond and Brian Lara having achieved it before.
Most importantly of all, his innings carried him past Mahela Jayawardene, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Lara into sixth in the list of Test run scorers.
The records tumbled regularly through the day as Cook relentlessly built his total.
But things might have been different had Australia held the chances they carved out – Steve Smith adding to his drop the previous evening when Cook had 66, by spilling the England opener when he had 153.
If the first was difficult, the second at square leg was easier, Smith going with his left hand only when two would have been possible.
Had Smith held that chance when England still trailed by nine runs – they were 318-6 at the time – the picture could have looked very different.
But with several useful partnerships stitched around Cook’s monumental knock, England were able to climb to a commanding halfway position.
Cook and Joe Root added 26 to their 138-run partnership before the England captain once again fell between 50 and three figures – a trend that it becoming alarming.
Just five of the last 27 half centuries for Root have been converted.
Root was furious with himself hoiking a top edge off a wide ball from Pat Cummins outside off stump, high to square leg where Nathan Lyon took an easy catch.
The England skipper’s mood had improved by the end of the day as Cook anchored England’s climb to a position of dominance.
Jonny Bairstow (22) and Moeen Ali (20) with a frenzied 14-ball cameo were disappointing, but Chris Woakes, who put on 59 for the seventh wicket and Stuart Broad who helped add 100 for the ninth, surpassed expectations.
Broad has struggled with the short ball so far this series and was struck on the shoulder early in his innings by Josh Hazlewood.
But the England bowler showcased his all too infrequently seen batting credentials with a flamboyant 56.
Cook and Broad lifted England to a 146 runs lead before they were separated, Usman Khawaja taking a superb diving catch at third man to dismiss the latter, a decision confirmed after replays showed the fielder had spilled but reclaimed the ball before it touched grass.
Jimmy Anderson stuck around without scoring to help Cook add a further 18 before the close.
A coin that was released in 2013 to celebrate the christening of Prince George is selling for £1,390 on eBay.
The coins were minted by Royal Mint, and the event was a first for the money makers.
The silver coin has an image of the Queen on one side, and on the other an ornate design to commemorate Prince George’s christening.
The coin has a design with two cherubs, and reads: “To celebrate the christening of Prince George of Cambridge 2013”.
The seller of the coin, irinbaldin-0, described the coin as: “Royal Christening 2013 UK Silver Proof Kilo coin, it’s a very rare coin with a perfect condition.”
Prince George was christened by the Arch Bishop of Canterbury in October 2013.
Kensington Palace said in a brief statement that Kate and Prince William were “pleased” to announce the christening of their son Prince George.
The Palace added that “close members of both families” would attend but said the list of senior guests that have been invited would be released at a later date.
Reverend Welby said he was “delighted” to be invited to baptise Prince George and that it was a “great privilege and honour”.
A coin to celebrate Prince George’s birthday sold out within days, proving hugely popular.
This was also the first time that Royal Mint celebrated a royal birth with a coin.
Royal Mint said of the christening coin: “To celebrate the arrival of Prince George of Cambridge an official coin has been released for his christening.
“This official christening coin has been approved by the Palace, and like the £5 coins often released for important Royal events, it is a must-have memento of a special time for the Royal family, and a special time for Britain.
This was the first time the Royal Mint commemorated a royal Christening in the form of a coin.
They said: “Never before has a coin been struck for a Royal christening – and the coins struck to greet Prince George’s birth were so popular they sold out in days.”
Another rare coin is selling for £1200 – could you have one stashed in your pockets?
It is one of the two versions of the Peter Rabbit Beatrix Potter coin.

In 1979, Americans watched a total solar eclipse pass over the continental United States. Eight years later, another phenomenon crossed our paths: the first BMW M5. It was rare, it was heroic, and most of all, it was a four-door sedan that, at the height of the horsepower-robbing ‘80s, could outgun Corvettes and Ferraris. For 2018, the G30-based M5 is once again a rolling NASA space station of computers and sensors propelled by a force-fed V-8. That should sound impressive, except that two-ton luxury sedans that accelerate to 60 mph as hard as a McLaren F1 are now normal, everyday occurrences. If it seems as if the latest M5 won’t warp space-time anymore, well, blame the Dodge Charger Hellcat and the Porsche Panamera Turbo. READ MORE ››
