Chez Reavie made history with three eagles on par-4 holes during the second round at the Sony Open in Hawaii on Friday.

According to the PGA Tour, nobody had managed the feat since accurate records of such occurrences began in 1983.

The low-key Reavie took the achievement in stride.

"It was strange," the 37-year-old American told Golf Channel at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, where he trailed leader Matt Kuchar by four shots.

"You hit good shots and you don't expect them to go in. You're always surprised when they drop."

Meanwhile, Canadian rookie Adam Svensson, who opened with a 61 to take a first-round lead Thursday, followed with a 74 to fall nine shots behind American Matt Kuchar.

Reavie, the 2008 Canadian Open champion, wasted no time notching his first eagle, holing out from 100 yards at the 10th, his first hole of the day.

He added his next eagle from 150 yards at the 16th, and as if that was not enough made another from 135 yards at the sixth hole.

He said it was only after the third eagle that he started to wonder if a fourth was in store, and when his wedge approach at his 17th hole flew straight towards the pin he "thought could it really happen again."

His ball stopped six feet short of the cup.

Under the circumstances, he might have had reason to be slightly disappointed with a five-under-par 65, which included a double-bogey, but was not complaining.

"You can't be disappointed out here," he said after signing for a 10-under 130 halfway total.

"This golf course is tough."

High levels of corporate debt are especially worrisome, said Yellen, who compared the “collateralized loan obligations” (CLOs), created by bundling corporate debt for investment purposes, with the collateralized debt obligations – made of high-risk subprime mortgages – that inflated the housing bubble, ultimately causing the 2008 collapse. Like those mortgages, the corporate debt that comprises these instruments is rated very low – one step above junk, in many cases. However, she said, holders of CLOs are in a better position to absorb any potential losses, making a repeat of 2008 unlikely.

Still, corporate debt now stands at $ 9.1 trillion, almost twice what it was in 2007. If there’s a downturn, she said, such “high levels of corporate leverage could prolong the downturn and lead to lots of bankruptcies in the non-financial corporate sector.”

Yellen lamented the unfinished post-2008 regulatory agenda, highlighting areas that desperately needed addressing and mentioning “regulatory pushback” against finishing the job. As the Fed’s powers currently stand, she said, regulators cannot address systemic issues, only individual banks. While some regulatory powers were expanded after the crisis, others were limited.

She mostly steered clear of discussing the current economic situation, limiting herself to vague generalities: “Interest rates are low. I believe they’re likely to remain lower than they’ve been in past decades.” Her successor, Jerome Powell, has raised interest rates three times since taking over in February and is expected to increase rates again before the end of the year.

Her remarks represent a shift from the sunny (if unrealistic) optimism she displayed a year ago after leaving office, when she told a London audience she did not believe there would be another financial crisis in her lifetime because of “financial reforms.”

President Trump has been harshly critical of the Fed, calling it the “biggest threat” to his presidency and blaming it for several market downturns in recent months. While appointing Powell was his idea, he has wondered out loud if he made a mistake and has urged the new chairman to focus on “what’s good for the country” instead of raising rates.

The ABBA movie, which was a huge box office success over the summer, kept fans and critics entertained with its winning mix of heartfelt story and showstopping music. Lily James has playfully acknowledged the minor gaffes in a new interview.

“It’s artistic license,” she joked to Digital Spy.

“There are holes. [Donna’s] mum was definitely dead in the first one.

“She’s like, ‘God rest her soul!’ But people come back to life for Cher.”

When the interviewer suggested some of the mistakes could just be attributed to Donna’s unreliable memory, Lily grinned: “That is exactly what it is.

“I think that’s a very good way of looking at it!”

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is out on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday, after a special ABBA-themed edition of The X Factor this weekend.

At the UK box office, it came within touching distance of the 2008 original’s record-breaking haul.

Overall, the movie is thought to have raked in $ 394 million against a $ 75 million budget.

Critics also softened to the franchise this time around; gifting it an overall 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The first movie, for comparison, had an approval score of just 55%.

PROPONENTS OF sovereign-wealth funds like to say that returns from publicly owned assets could in theory displace taxes. In countries that have not struck oil, however, the chance of politicians building up savings rather than running up debt seems remote. Yet states may not need to save in order to enable at least some tax-free spending. Most already have plenty of assets. The problem is that they do not sweat them hard enough.

Stephen Hawking never stopped trying to unravel the mysteries surrounding black holes — in fact, he was still working to solve one of them shortly before his death. Now, his last research paper on the subject is finally available online through pre-publication website ArXiV, thanks to his co-authors from Cambridge and Harvard. It’s entitled Black Hole Entropy and Soft Hair, and it tackles the black hole paradox. According to Hawking’s co-author Malcolm Perry, the paradox “is perhaps the most puzzling problem in fundamental theoretical physics today” and was the center of the late physicist’s life for decades.

The information paradox arose from Hawking’s theoretical argument back in the 1970s that black holes have a temperature. As such, they’re bound to evaporate over time until there’s nothing left, releasing energy now called the “Hawking Radiation.” See, it’s believed that when an object enters a black hole, its information gets preserved on its surface forever even if it vanishes from sight. If a black hole evaporates, though, then so will that information. That creates a paradox, because according to the rules of quantum physics, information can never be destroyed.

The new paper shows how that information can be preserved by photons called “soft hair” surrounding the edge of black hole, which you might know as the event horizon. According to Hawking, Perry, Andrew Strominger and Sasha Haco, a black hole’s temperature changes when you throw an object (say, a planet’s atoms) into it. The hotter it gets, the more its entropy (its internal disorder) rises. That entropy is what’s preserved in a black hole’s soft hair.

Perry said he called Hawking a few days before he passed away to discuss their work. “It was very difficult for Stephen to communicate and I was put on a loudspeaker to explain where we had got to. When I explained it, he simply produced an enormous smile. I told him we’d got somewhere. He knew the final result,” he told The Guardian. The scientists admit that there’s a lot of work to be done, though: “It’s a step on the way, but it is definitely not the entire answer,” Perry said. “We have slightly fewer puzzles than we had before, but there are definitely some perplexing issues left.”

Edward Snowden’s success in leaking NSA data was chalked up in part to the agency’s own security lapses, so you’d think that the agency would have tightened up its procedures in the past five years… right? Apparently not. The NSA Inspector General’s office has published an audit indicating that many of the Snowden-era digital security policies still haven’t been addressed, at least as of the end of March 2018. It hasn’t correctly implemented two-person access controls for data centers and similar rooms, doesn’t properly check job duties and has computer security plans that are either unfinished or inaccurate.

The audit also showed that the NSA hasn’t implemented the latest federal security guidance, doesn’t have a complete inventory of its IT framework and isn’t gathering all the documentation it needs before it gives a computer system the go-ahead. And while Snowden didn’t rely on malware, the NSA isn’t thoroughly scanning for viruses on USB thumb drives and other removable media.

The Inspector General’s report only includes audits between October 1st, 2017 and March 31st, 2018, indicating that many of these issues are relatively fresh and hadn’t been fixed as of earlier this year.

It’s not certain what the NSA is doing to address the problems. However, there’s certainly an incentive to take the audit seriously. The NSA has grappled with more than one person leaking its info to the public in recent years — while stricter policies wouldn’t definitively prevent further leaks, they might discourage such incidents.
