Eight Fast and Furious movies in and Hobbs and Shaw finally have their own spin-off movie.
The official synopsis reads: “Two years after the events of The Fate of the Furious, federal agent Luke Hobbs reveals he must join forces with his old ally Deckard Shaw in order to stop a new threat emerging from the international terrorist known as Brixton.”
James Bond favourite Elba stars as the villain in this year’s summer blockbuster spectacular.
Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Shaw is released in UK cinemas on August 2, 2019.
]]>
After feeling a little speed as a bank robber in Baby Driver, rising star Eiza Gonzalez has landed a last minute role in the Fast and Furious spin-off Hobbs and Shaw. She’s been popping up all over the place lately, and this is a great step for her career.
Variety has the news on Eiza Gonzalez in Hobbs and Shaw, and her addition to the cast was something executives really worked to make happen. Gonzalez had some complicated scheduling that needed to be worked out since she also has a role in Legendary’s upcoming monster movie mash-up sequel Godzilla vs. Kong. That movie is about to begin shooting, but it sounds like all of the kinks have been worked out to allow her to join the cast.
Hobbs and Shaw is the first spin-off from the Fast and Furious franchise, and it follows Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as their respective characters teaming up for some reason. As of now the plot of the movie remains under wraps, as does the character Eiza Gonzalez is playing, but surely it will involve fast driving, punching, heists and wisecracks. It’s also directed by Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde helmer David Leitch.
Eiza Gonzalez is quickly making a name for herself after a breakthrough role in Baby Driver. She’ll also be seen in the odd upcoming drama Welcome to Marwen starring Steve Carell, as well as the manga adaptation Alita: Battle Angel. Funnily enough, Gonzalez is also supposed to star in Bloodshot, the Valiant Comics adaptation starring Fast and Furious franchise lead Vin Diesel.
However, don’t expect Vin Diesel to pop up in Hobbs and Shaw, since it seemed to create some beef between franchise cast members behind the scenes, though it’s now seemingly been squashed. The spin-off has also created some drama behind the scenes for franchise producer Neal Moritz, who is suing Universal over it.
As for the rest of the Hobbs and Shaw cast, Idris Elba has a role as the villain Brixton, who makes for quite the rival to the titular duo. Mission: Impossible – Fallout star Vanessa Kirby is also onboard with a role as Hattie Shaw, the sister of Jason Statham’s character Deckard Shaw, who also happens to take a liking to Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs. Who can blame her?
Hobbs and Shaw is slated to hit theaters on August 2, 2019, and there are still more Fast and Furious sequels to come.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham and director David Leitch got together recently for a Hobbs and Shaw production meeting, and the Rock decided to let us all know about it. The Fast and Furious spin-off is due out next year, and while you wait for official filming to begin, take some solace in this image (or technically, images – there are two) of three men smiling. “We have a lot of fun surprises in store with our movie and what an opportunity for us to smartly build out our beloved Fast and Furious franchise with our spinoff,” writes Johnson. We’ll see! Hobbs and Shaw will open August 2, 2019.
Jurassic World has been posting some nice videos featuring nice man Chris Pratt doing nice things on the set of Fallen Kingdom. They’re called “Jurassic Journals”, and while they haven’t been particularly exciting, they have offered a glimpse into the day-to-day grind of filming a big Hollywood movie. Here, Pratt talks to “Edge Arm Driver” Dean Bailey. The Edge Arm is a huge steady-cam-like contraption mounted to a truck, used for capturing big chase sequences. It’s designed to remain perfectly still even as the car it’s mounted to bounces up and down over the terrain. Kind of neat! Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens June 22, 2018.
I don’t know about you, but I am pumped for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. I really enjoy these films, and I really enjoy watching Tom Cruise risk his life over and over just to entertain audiences. There’s a new Fallout trailer on the way, but in the meantime, here’s a new poster. It’s not exactly the best poster, as far as movie posters go. But it does feature Henry Cavill‘s glorious mustache, so that’s something. Mission: Impossible – Fallout opens July 27, 2018.

Doom is getting rebooted as a new (probably direct-to-VOD) film. It looks like rehearsals for the movie are currently underway, and Nina Bergman, who appears in the film, uploaded this behind-the-scenes video of people running around pretending to shoot guns. Bergman also posted two other videos. One is a cave being used as a set for the film. The other features Bergman getting ready to film. There’s not a lot of detail here, but these videos at least confirm the new Doom movie is really happening.

The Soska Sisters (American Mary) are getting ready to remake David Cronenberg‘s Rabid, and they’ve just lined-up their lead. Laura Vandervoort, who was recently in Jigsaw, will star in the film, per Coming Soon. “This terrifying and brilliant script has already proven its market appealand now with the casting of Laura Vandervoort, we are another step closer to bringing Rabid to audiences worldwide,” said Film Mode Entertainment President Clay Epstein. Producer Michael Walker added: ““We are thrilled to be working with Laura Vandervoort on Rabid who is the perfect fit for the role of Rose. She is an incredibly versatile actress who is quick to take on characters in all genres, and effectively tackles every role she plays.” The original film focused on a young woman who “develops a taste for human blood after undergoing experimental plastic surgery, and her victims turn into rabid, blood-thirsty zombies who proceed to infect others, which turns into a city-wide epidemic.”
Some of the Deadpool 2 cast – Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Leslie Uggams and Zazie Beetz – got together to on GMA to play a game called “Confessions.” I don’t know if you actually watch morning shows, but every now and then I’ll catch a snippet of one while waiting in a doctor’s office. They’re nightmarish extravaganzas where everyone is grinning, constantly, for seemingly no reason. This clip is no exception, but at least it has the Deadpool 2 cast to soften the blow. Deadpool 2 opens May 18, 2018.

Time travel back to the Seventies this season with an abundance of vintage inspired pieces.
Embraced across the AW17 catwalks by the likes of Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Miu Miu, Prada and Coach, this look keeps true to the original silhouettes and fabric choices of the era and is very much a replica of, rather than simply an inspired reinterpretation.
To get the look this season, base your edit around the Seventies key colour palette of of camel, tobacco, mustard and orange. Mix block colour with key prints to break up the look and add detail. The high street always reinterprets on trend prints really well so keep an eye out for retro wallpaper prints and chintzy florals.
In terms of fabrications, it is time to fully embrace autumnal temperatures with tweeds, shearling, corduroy and faux fur trims. This trend loves texture and as the days get longer and colder look to layer prints and Seventies inspired fabrics for maximum effect.
This era of fashion is particularly versatile as it includes great, everyday casual and workwear appropriate shapes and fabrics such as wide leg trousers, polo necks and pussy bow blouses, but still gives a nod to occasion wear too through lurex and metallic fabrics. After all this was the party period of Studio 54 and Seventies Glam Rock.
Want one statement piece for the season? Then it is all about key outerwear and the ‘del-boy’ shearling coat is already proving to be a high street hit. If you just add one Seventies piece to your wardrobe this autumn, then this is the one. Opt for cognac and cream tones to fully embrace the retro vibe.
But, if you aren’t quite ready for a full on retro revival, then you can inject this trend into your style through carefully edited accessories. The runway and high street have both gone crazy for vintage inspired footwear. Look out for a multitude of boot styles, including over the knee velvet boots, and metallic slouchy boots, as well as the much talked about ‘Gucci’ style loafer – the high street versions are a perfect match.
This is a great winter update for those missing summer’s bohemian vibes.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, attended a church service with the royal family this morning.
The 35-year-old looked cosy as she was pictured in the back of a car leaving the small church.
She attended the service with the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince William, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Mike Tindall – Zara’s husband.
Kate was wrapped up warm in one of her favourite Hobbs jackets; burgundy in colour, it was a decidedly autumnal look for the royal.
The August sunshine was not apparent this morning as the royal piled into their waiting cars to be taken back to Balmoral.
Several members of the extended family are up in Scotland enjoying time away at Balmoral Castle.
Fans will be please to catch sight of the Duchess of Cambridge, who has not been seen since her recent tour of Belgium.
Although dedicated Kate fans will be gutted to find out her stunning coat is completely sold out.
The Hobbs celeste coat was on the rails for a cool £369 when Kate was first spotted out in the jacket back in 2012.
The Duchess is widely regarded as one of the most fashionable women in the world, and her stylist Natasha Archer can take some credit for this accolade.
Kate has worked with Natasha, 30, since 2007 and the pretty blonde is often seen by her side.
Natasha joined the Royal household as Kate’s PA in 2007 but didn’t become her stylist until 2014.
She earned her promotion after giving an opinion on the nude shoes so loved by the Duchess, and for also packing the perfect royal tour suitcase, according to reports in Tatler.
A source spoke to Vanity Fair about the relationship between Tash, as she is known, and Kate.
They said: “Initially Kate was a reluctant fashion icon, but now she enjoys it. Tash helps source some of the clothes.
“She shops a lot for Kate online, and calls in hundreds of dresses for Kate to try on.
“She has persuaded Kate to take some more risks. The hemlines are shorter and Kate’s really pushing the boat out in the fashion stakes.”
