It seemed to be going well when the player turned down Anne’s higher offer of £60,000 after securing £8,000 during his cash-builder round. Unfortunately, his performance was short-lived as The Governess managed to catch him out, meaning only three of his teammates made it through to the Final Chase. Despite accumulating 17 points, The Governess defeated the trio with more than enough time to spare, meaning the £9,000 was wiped from their prize fund. One viewer wrote on Twitter of the result: “That was just ruthless from Anne Hegerty. By far the best chaser of the lot #TheChase.” The Chase continued this evening and Bradley Walsh was eager for today’s contestant to take home some money. However his team didn’t do him any favours as the first and third members of the team were eventually caught by the chaser Anne Hegerty. But during contestant Greg’s attempt to win some cash for the team, Anne opted to tempt him further. Greg acquired a measly £3,000 during the cash-builder round, which left him with the choice of keeping his winnings, or upgrading to the £26,000 for the higher offer. While he mused over whether he should take the extra risk or not, Anne began saying: “Yes, take it.” To which Bradley raised his hand and began yelling: “Whoah whoah whoah!” before turning to Greg and saying: “Take your time.” Eventually Greg did in fact take the £3,000, before Bradley turned to Anne. He announced: “Trying to entice my player. What’s the matter with you!” Anne defended herself by beginning: “No I wanted to…” as Bradley cut her off. He continued: “I know what you wanted to do! Let’s play…” Unfortunately for Greg, he was caught and sent home without any winnings. And Bradley’s team didn’t do well, as only two made it through to the final chase. It hasn’t been a great week for Bradley as he found himself pleading with the player’s father on the show. Speaking to his contestant Gerry, he was told he may want a raise at his job as a farmer. Looking directly at the camera Bradley said: “Come on. “He’s been working on the farm since he was young. “He wants a raise, don’t you Gerry?” Bradley went on to add: “He’ll be cursing when you get home!” Unfortunately for Gerry he didn’t make it through the show as he was caught by Paul Sinha. The Chase airs weekdays at 6am on ITV. I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers saw the campmates wake up in camp prior to the live Trial. Nick Knowles and Anne were content in the Imperial Palace having both slept well. She said: “Excuse me, sorry,” as Nick said: “That’s extremely understandable Anne.” Embarrassed, Anne later said: “I farted in Nick’s face this morning and he didn’t seem to mind. “So obviously we’re good mates. It wasn’t like Rita’s that the whole planet heard apart from me.” ITV bosses made the decision to air Anne’s flatulence noises just days after doing the same to Rita. While it was a repeat episode of The Chase, many claimed that the clock timer had stopped for longer than one second as Anne gave her final answer to Bradley Walsh, swiping £50,000 from the grasp of player Maggie.
Maggie, a 69-year-old retired court usher from Flintshire, was the last player to face Anne and managed to take £50,000 through to the final chase.
Creating a total of 18 to beat, Maggie also managed to secure push-backs.
However, Anne got an answer wrong, leaving just three seconds for Bradley to ask the final question, and Anne to reply with her answer.
Anne managed to answer within the time, but many viewers claimed Bradley had asked the question faster than usual, and that the timer was not accurate.
One viewer tweeted: “Once again Bradley spits out a question in 0.2 seconds for the Chaser #TheChase.”
“Why does Bradley Walsh always speed up on the last question? SCAM. Maggie gutted for ya! #thechase,” claimed another.
A third alleged: “He had 3 seconds to ask the question, the clock stopped at 1 second when she started to answer. What a fix! #TheChase.”
“Could bradley have said that last question any quicker??? absolute fix of a programme that #thechase,” raged another.
A fifth noted: “#TheChase Bradley speaks much faster for the chasers than the contestants. Listen how fast he gave that question at the end. Maggie was robbed.”
“Just watched my first episode of @TheChaseUK complete fix, it has to be….. #thechase,” wrote another.
One former contestant posted: “That was brutal! I was gutted when I lost £6K to Shaun with a score of 18… To lose £50K with one second remaining… OUCH! You did amazing Maggie! #TheChase.”
This is not the first time the show’s clock has been accused of pausing with one second remaining, with fans complaining at an episode broadcast in March.
A spokesperson for The Chase explained at the time: “Anne gave the final correct answer within the time remaining.
“The game control system stops the countdown as soon as the correct answer is given.
“On this specific example, the clock stopped with one second still showing, giving the appearance that the Chaser had more time to answer but, in fact, the Chaser had already given the correct answer, the clock had been stopped and the team had been caught with one second remaining on the clock.
“This was checked and confirmed by an independent adjudicator.”
They added: “This was explained to the contestants who accepted and agreed with the decision.”
Following her loss, contestant Maggie said: “Well played Anne! I’m no poorer than when I came in.”
The moment unfolded as Bradley Walsh explained to a contestant on The Chase why he agreed with the answer she had picked.
As the camera cut to Anne she could be seen suppressing a laugh in the Chaser’s seat on the ITV quiz.
Bradley, 57, spotted her trying to stifle a giggle and swiftly called her out on it.
He questioned: “Why’s Anne laughing? Pull yourself together woman, what are you doing?”
“Stop laughing at your own jokes, stop making your own jokes up there, it’s unnecessary.
“I’m trying to run a show here and all your doing is laughing your head off.
“I’m trying to make myself sound intelligent, stop pooh-poohing everything.”
However, Anne remained silent as she pursed her lips together stifling a laugh.
After the contestant got through on the question, Bradley turned round once again to confront his colleague.
He said: “You were laughing your head off at me and I was right in the end, by the way.”
Anne asserted: “I wasn’t laughing at you.”
Bradley then exclaimed: “You were laughing at me! Well you weren’t laughing with me!
“You were making me look foolish in front of my millions of friends.”
“Well, yes I was doing that but you do it to yourself to be fair,” Anne replied.
Bradley then turned to the camera and declared: “That’s not fair.”
However, it was clear it was all in jest as the pair laughed at the moment.
Meanwhile, all four contestants managed to make it through to the Final Chase on today’s show.
Playing for £19,000, they managed to get 17 points to get ahead of the Governess.
In what was a very tense last round with four successfully executed pushback, the team were caught with just one second remaining.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
The quizzer is presenting her own show, Britain’s Brightest Family, and opened up about how The Chase host Bradley reacted to her new role.
“What did Bradley say when you said you were going to be a presenter?” Phillip asked.
Anne replied: “He was delighted. I didn’t say anything to him but he came and said to me, ‘I heard about your new gig and congratulations.’
“And I’m sitting there thinking, ‘Honestly Brad, I learnt from the best. I mean I’ve been watching you for years and no one can be better…”
Phillip, 55, shot a stunned look at the camera as Anne trailed off realising what she’d said.
“Apologies,” she quickly stated. “But no one can be as good as Brad.”
Phillip hit back: “Wow that came out of nowhere then. I wasn’t expecting that.”
Jokingly cutting the interview short, he snapped: “Anyway, thanks for coming in.”
Anne later revealed that she has previously kicked The Chase set when she failed to defeat the contestants.
The presenter asked if the chasers ever go soft, to which Bradley had previously replied: “He said, ‘You wouldn’t believe how angry they get when they get something wrong’.”
“He is absolutely right,” Anne confirmed.
“I have been known to come down those stairs and kick the set, I mean I have to kick a bit that won’t collapse.
“Sometimes when things have gone wrong and I just couldn’t get the answers to my brain in time, it is so frustrating, I mean it is our reputation on the line.”
The interview came after Holly chased a two-year-old guest around the studio.
Tamzin decided that she no longer wanted to watch her sister Imogen get her hair cut live on air and ran behind the This Morning sofa.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
The Chaser is a long way from the ITV gameshow in the Keith Lemon-fronted hit – set to air tonight – when she channels none other than Liam Gallagher and Lorraine Kelly.
It didn’t take long for team captains Fearne Cotton and Bruno Tonioli to guess who she was trying to be, suggesting her mimicking skills were not to be sniffed at.
As she sat next to the host, Anne was asked if she came here often, before breaking into a northern accent.
“Not really, I’m from Manchester. I’m a miserable b****r, me. I’m miserable… I’ve got a brother but I don’t like my brother,” the 59-year-old stated.
After it was correctly identified as Oasis star Liam, Anne then went on to her next challenge: “I’m from Dundee… I’m lovely, everyone thinks I’m lovely. I wear beautiful dresses.”
The task saw the studio plunged into darkness before the stars got into the back of a tiny car.
The latest instalment of Celebrity Juice also features Anne’s co-star Mark Labbett, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash as well as Kelly Brook.
The latter turned heads for all the right reasons as she stepped out in a plunging red dress, that highlighted her curves.
The 37-year-old’s ample assets were impossible to miss during the Five Second Fool challenge, which saw her forced to sit on a rotating chair.
Celebrity Juice airs tonight at 10pm on ITV2.
They nearly came to blows as Bradley, 57, grilled the Chaser – better known as The Governess – and asked why she had faltered so much in the final round of the show.
Right at the end, Anne was heard saying: “Nobody was going very fast, were they?” Bradley hit back, saying: “No! What happened to you there in the end? You were going: ‘Um, um, um’.”
Anne was not pleased as she told him with an annoyed expression: “I was taking some time to think about things!”
She went on to talk about the question that she’d struggled over in the last leg of the ITV quiz, explaining: “I don’t think of Malted Milk as a biscuit but as a drink, so that’s why I needed you to repeat that.”
Bradley was flabbergasted as he told her: “Are you kidding?” His question seemed to enrage her further as she said: “What? A malted milk is a drink!”
“I beg to differ! Malted Milk is one of my favourite biscuits of all time alongside Custard Creams, everyone!” he joked, as Anne could be seen laughing proving it was all in good humour.
Despite getting a couple of questions wrong and having to ask Bradley to repeat one of them, Anne had reigned victorious as she beat the team with 18 seconds left to spare on the clock.
The two-member team of Cait and Todd had managed to make £11,000 between them and were 16 steps ahead, but it was not enough to help them to win.
Tonight’s scenes come in contrast with earlier this week when fans of The Chase were left infuriated with one contestant after they took a lower offer.
Viewers took to social media in their droves to lambast them and call for them to be removed from the quiz.
But it wasn’t just one player but two who went for the safe option, which could not save them in the end from Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan.
The 59-year-old was not impressed with the player’s performance and ridiculed her for having a “lack of knowledge” stored in her brain.
Host Bradley Walsh was on hand to support contestant Stephanie, but Anne made sure to make her point very clear.
With a look of disgust, Anne said: “Hello Stephanie. Well that was a very impressive… final 11 seconds there.”
Bradley said: “It was, where did those answers come from?” as Stephanie naively gushed: “Thank you, Anne.”
Anne then jibed: “I’d say they [the answers] came from the hidden depths of your mind… but I’m not sure they have any hidden depths.
“I suggest you either go high or go low. There’s not much point in staying in the middle here.
“I will offer you £500. Seriously think about this. What do you have to lose? £54,000.”
The moody chaser, also nicknamed Frosty Knickers and The Governess, added that there wasn’t enough room for both her own and the contestant’s glamorous looks to feature on the show any more.
She scorned: “Well I’m afraid there’s only room for one young glamorous starlet in here. You’re gong to have to go!”
Picking up on the word ‘glamorous’, 57-year-old Bradley teased: “I thought you were talking about me there,” to which Anne rolled her eyes.
Fortunately for Anne, the chaser beat the two remaining contestants in the final chase with a total of 28 seconds to spare in the repeat episode.
