Mark, 54, who is best known for his role on The Chase, spoke about his health in a conversation with the Loose Women panel on Tuesday afternoon. The Beast star is currently residing at home with his wife and young son as production on the ITV quiz show was ground to a halt in light of the coronavirus pandemic. During the nationwide lockdown, the quizmaster has continued to lose weight after coming down with what he thought to be “a typical virus” back in February. With more information about COVID-19 having been discovered since then, the general knowledge guru now believes this to be the real reason behind the change in his appearance. Speaking to the presenters about the symptoms he had at the time, Mark explained: “The major one was a complete loss of taste and smell and no appetite. “And I had the cough and the fever and bouts of exhaustion but because I didn’t have problems breathing – and this was back in February where that was the number one symptom, I thought I’ve just got some type of virus. “For two weeks, I barely ate so at the time I was thinking, ‘Result!’” the quizmaster went on to add. Asked what else he might have done to help him shed the pounds, The Beast star said: “People are going to hate me because I haven’t tried to lose weight. “What’s happened is I had the brush with this virus or whatever it was and since then, I haven’t been going out.” READ MORE: The Chase: Mark Labbett halts show to ask contestant for advice “So, I haven’t been having restaurant meals and my wife is a shift worker full-time so I’ve been a primary carer for our son,” Mark continued. “As many of our viewers will know, if you’re looking after an active toddler 14 hours a day, seven days a week, you haven’t got time to eat.” Following his diagnosis of type two diabetes in 2016, Mark took part in ITV reality show Sugar-Free Farm. On the programme, he explained he had turned down the opportunity to take part in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! due to the lack of food contestants eat. In view of his 4,787 followers, he wrote: “Gradually losing the waistline Responding to the image, one fan commented: “Just seen this excellent work keep going, Guess there will be an exercise DVD soon.” “Well done mark looking good. Keep it up. Losing weight is hard, but being overweight is even harder. I lost 9.5stone in 20 months. Keep going your doing great. Awesome,” a second posted. (sic) A third remarked: “Well done, massive achievement, looking amazing,” with a fourth adding: “Hardest thing to do ever…well done you!” In another interview published at the weekend, The Chaser also explained some of the other coronavirus-like symptoms he experienced. “Apparently one of the symptoms they’re discovering now is rapid attacks. One morning I woke up at 1:30am shivering uncontrollably. “I had to go downstairs to alter the central heating, and I couldn’t hold a pint of water in one hand because I was shaking so much. “As a self-proclaimed fatty, of course, I was aware that having COVID wasn’t good, and clearly increased the severity of my risk,” he told The Sun. Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV. Queen Elizabeth has enjoyed travel to numerous countries during her lifetime and has visited some very far-flung locations indeed. When it comes to the Queen’s entourage, there can be up to 34 people with her on the journey. The royal staff have one custom they need to follow when they travel on long-haul flights. They have to arrive in their Sunday best clothes and then change into more comfortable apparel in the tiny toilet of the plane, according to Brian Hoey’s book ‘Not In Front Of The Corgis.’ While the staff allegedly get on well with their superiors, some members of staff are not happy with having to queue up to take their turn in the toilet to change, claimed Hoey. The royal expert revealed there was one episode in particular where annoyance came to the fore. “On one flight to Australia, there was a long queue immediately after take-off when the Mistress of the Robes, the Duchess of Grafton, pushed her way to the front, claiming senior priority,” Hoey wrote in his book. “One self-identified gay footman, well down the line, exclaimed in a tone everyone could hear ‘Well, that’s the first time I’ve ever known a Duchess take precedence over a queen’.” However, the Mistress of the Robes pretended not to hear and carried on to the bathroom. According to The Telegraph, among the Queen’s entourage are “Master of the Household department, to oversee catering and logistics, her private secretary and his deputy, a secretary for each of those secretaries and two secretaries for the Duke.” There are also “two dressers, a hairdresser, a valet, two ladies-in-waiting, an equerry for military liaison, press officers, eight police bodyguards and the Foreign Secretary and his or her staff.” Queen Elizabeth will also always be accompanied by a Royal Navy doctor on her royal tours. Royal reporter Gordon Rayner, who has been on 20 royal tours, explained the crucial role of the physician. The Royal Navy doctor will have to research the nearest hospitals carefully in advance, he told The Telegraph. He will also bring with him key equipment at all times in case an accident should occur. The doctor will carry “a bulky medical bag containing a mobile defibrillator and all manner of emergency medicine,” he said. The medical expert is said to be never more than a few steps away from the Queen while she is on royal engagements abroad. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were joined by ten members of staff for their Australia tour this year. This included Private Secretary Samantha Cohen, who was once the Queen’s Assistant Private Secretary, Assistant Private Secretary Amy Pickerel, who previously worked with William and Kate, as well as a hairdresser, personal assistant, an orderly and four members of the communications team. Kate Middleton and Prince William are joined by 12 important members when carrying out their duties overseas.

If you’re a technology enthusiast—and you obviously are, because you’re reading Ars Technica—you’ll know that poor software or a bad UI can drag down even the best hardware. It’s frustrating, and not just because lousy software can make using the newest, shiniest gear less fun. The frustration is also fueled by the vision of what could have been if the manufacturer had truly gotten its act together.
That, in a nutshell, describes my week with the Acura MDX Sport Hybrid.
The MDX is the first hybrid SUV from Acura. It was refreshed for the 2017 model year, and, aside from a few new color options, it is essentially unchanged for 2019. It’s a three-row, midsize SUV that sits in the same luxury segment occupied by the Infiniti QX60 (look for our review soon), Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, and Lexus RX 350L. It has a 3.0L, 24-valve V6 under the hood, accompanied by three electric motors—borrowed from the hybrid NSX supercar no less. There’s also a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that works sans torque convertor, which Acura says improves its efficiency.

A criminal investigation has been launched into allegations of anti-Semitic hate crimes within the Labour Party, the Metropolitan police have confirmed after receiving a complaint in September.
Cressida Dick, the Met Police chief, has told the BBC officers are now examining online material because it appears “there may have been a crime committed.”
The Guardian reports that radio station LBC received an internal Labour dossier detailing 45 cases that included messages posted on social media by party members. According to the paper, LBC handed the leaked documentation to former senior police officer Mak Chishty.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “On Tuesday 4 September, the Met Commissioner was handed a folder of paperwork following a radio interview with LBC Radio in Leicester Square. The complainant alleged that the documentation included evidence of anti-Semitic hate crimes.
“The contents have been examined by specialist officers. A criminal investigation has commenced into some of the allegations within the documentation.
“Early investigative advice is being sought from the Crown Prosecution Service. The MPS will not comment further on the details of our investigation.”

The pair will go head to head twice in December after being drawn against them in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
They meet in the Premier League on December 2 before the cup match on December 17.
But the managers could be set for an unusual bromance with Pochettino admitting he ‘loves’ the Arsenal boss.
“It will be an exciting game, I’m excited face to Arsenal,” Pochettino said after the Carabao Cup draw.
CHAOS IN THE STANDS: DID YOU SEE SHOCKING SCENES AT LONDON STADIUM?
“Unai Emery is good friend and a top manager and doing a great job.
“In our history Arsenal are a great rival – but I love Unai and have great respect for him.”
That may not sit well with Tottenham fans who are already frustrated with the way the season is going.
The stadium issues have exacerbated the support and Pochettino himself admitted he wasn’t feeling good about the campaign last week.
“The season so far, it’s strange because my feeling is the worst I’ve had in the five years that I’ve been here,” he said last week.
“But it’s the best start ever for the club in the Premier League. It’s strange, no?
“It’s so difficult to explain because many things happen, I am disappointed we are still waiting for the new stadium when the expectation was to be there at the beginning of the season.
“I know I always have a good relationship with the media but my feeling is not the best feeling, I had a better feeling in previous seasons.”
Last night’s win over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup has eased the strain somewhat and they face Wolves on Saturday night.
Son Heung-min marked his 150th appearance for Spurs with his first two goals of the season to set up a 3-1 victory.
Lucas Perez briefly halved the deficit but Fernando Llorente, handed a rare run-out with Harry Kane rested, wrapped up victory for Spurs.
The visitors had, of course, been in action just 48 hours earlier against Manchester City on a dreadful Wembley pitch, so Pochettino made 10 changes to his line-up with Davinson Sanchez the only survivor.
The Spurs boss said: “I feel very happy, to play two competitive games in 48 hours, Manchester City and then a London derby, I feel very proud.
“The performance was very good, always we try to play better but for different circumstances we have to be happy.
“Some players are working so hard, trying to wait for their opportunity, and then Davinson Sanchez played two games in 48 hours – and he was fantastic. I can’t praise him enough.”
Son Heung-min was relieved to finally end his goal drought after firing Tottenham into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
“Winning in the derby against West Ham always feels very good,” Son told Spurs TV.
“The most important thing is that we won. We’re in the next round and, finally, I scored!
“It’s been a long time, I’ve been feeling really sorry. It feels really, really good to score again for this team. Finally I’m back to scoring.
“Of course I’ve got a little bit of confidence back. It’s been a long time to score again because I went away for a long time so I felt very sorry but finally I can score for this team and help this team.
“I don’t want to pressure myself but I’m always hungry and want to improve every day.
“If I don’t score I’m sad. Of course winning is important but I always want to score and do my best for this team.”
Arsenal and Tottenham will go head-to-head in a festive north London derby in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
The Gunners and Spurs have been paired together after their respective fourth-round wins over Blackpool and West Ham.
They will meet at the Emirates in the week commencing December 17, just over two weeks after their Premier League battle at the same venue.
It will be a tie that both sides might have been keen to avoid as they both aim to get their hands on silverware.
Unai Emery is looking to get his Gunners tenure off to the best possible start while Mauricio Pochettino is still waiting for his first trophy at Spurs.
The two rivals last met in this competition in 2015, when Arsenal ran out 2-1 winners.
Chelsea’s reward for seeing off Derby, managed by one of their most decorated players Frank Lampard, is a home tie with Bournemouth.
Middlesbrough beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday and were handed a home game with League One Burton and a significant chance of progressing to the semi-final.
Reigning champions Manchester City play Fulham on Thursday and the winner will face either Leicester or Southampton.
That game was due to be played on Tuesday, but was postponed following the tragic death of Foxes owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha on Saturday.

Call of Cthulhu PS4 review (Image: FOCUS HOME INTERACTIVE)
The influence of H.P. Lovecraft on modern horror cannot be overstated.
Whenever a video game horrifies you with a writhing, tentacled monstrosity from another world; whenever you shudder at the story of some fanatical priest allowing their body to be grotesquely twisted and deformed in their dark god’s honour; whenever you are deeply disturbed by the tale of a visionary writer driven insane by his insights; know that all of these hellish visions first crawled out of the mind of Rhode Island’s darkest son, around a century ago.
Overrated, underrated, genius, loathsome racist; Lovecraft has been called many things, and all with some justification. But the strength of his legacy cannot be denied.
Even those people who don’t readily recognise the name ‘Cthulhu’ will be familiar with the likeness of Lovecraft’s colossal, squid-headed cleric.
It is an image that recurs, along with many of his other favourite themes (inbred fishing villages, ancient civilisations, inter-dimensional travellers that defy human comprehension) throughout countless video games, including Bloodborne, Doom, Quake, Dark Souls and Resident Evil, to name a few of the more recognisable incarnations.
However, despite this abundance of homages, there are surprisingly few games that directly reference the works of Lovecraft.
So, as a big Lovecraft fan, it has been with a swelling sense of anticipation that I’ve kept tabs on the latest Call of Cthulhu game, hoping that Cyanide’s adaptation will finally do justice to the mythos.
The production boasts an impressive voice cast, a deliciously sinister setting, and some tantalising trailers, so when the game finished loading and the menu screen prompted me to press X to ‘enter madness’, I immediately knew I was in safe hands/claws/tentacles.
The game begins by introducing us to troubled detective Edward Pierce as he potters around his office, boozing and muttering about military tragedies in his past.
The bereaved father of a dead woman visits him, hoping to hire Pierce to unravel the mystery surrounding his daughter’s death on the appropriately ominous-sounding Darkwater Island (what do people expect to happen when they give a place such a creepy name?), bringing one of her terrifying paintings as the only clue.
This is the launch pad for an utterly daft but gripping plot that manages to sustain a compelling pace, while retaining an element of intrigue until the final chapters, and sprinkles Lovecraftian characters, locations and other clichés throughout with contagious joy (expect to encounter unspeakable asylums, forbidden books, surly sea captains, mysterious artefacts and, err, boatloads of fish).
As a Lovecraft fan it feels like a joyous celebration; as a non-fan, I think the game’s appeal will depend upon whether you enjoy its setting and characters.
The setting is particularly strong, with Darkwater Island shrouded in mist, oil lamps casting an eerie emerald glow over the dilapidated buildings and heaps of whale bones (seriously, I haven’t played a game this green since the first Metal Gear Solid).

The distant sounds of drunken sailors’ shanties, baleful chanting, creaking floorboards and suchlike are expertly deployed, creating a strong sense of unease that permeates the game’s gloomy environments.
This atmosphere is further buoyed (no more nautical puns, I promise) by the voice acting.
Although the characters are mostly one-dimensional stereotypes, the vocal performances are good enough to fill them out, and I found myself genuinely caring about the plight of some of them, particularly good-natured Officer Bradley and the brusque, sullen protagonist Pierce himself.
The gameplay also deserves an honourable mention, as the developers have clearly tried hard to achieve a sense of variety throughout, each chapter introducing some new mechanic ranging from hunting objects through stealth to first-person shooting.
The crime scene investigation segments are particularly enjoyable, with Pierce reconstructing a scene from the clues left behind; although I couldn’t help thinking that The Vanishing of Ethan Carter did it better.
In fact, that was probably my overarching sense while playing through this game: an impressively diverse experience, but each element has been better delivered by other titles.

There are other issues. The loading times between chapters are painfully long, although mercifully much shorter when you die and must restart from a previous checkpoint.
The script is clunky and long-winded in parts, and despite the quality of the voice acting, some of the conversation sections feel painfully dull.
The game is festooned with text – whether it’s from books your character discovers, his own notes in his diary or simply the recaps of key plot points that appear during chapters – which would be fine with if it wasn’t presented in an unreadably small font and riddled with basic spelling and grammatical errors, which really do pull you out of the narrative at times.
These are the sorts of quibbles that prevent Call of Cthulhu from being a great game, but it is certainly an experience I’d recommend.
The game is a solid outing for H.P. Lovecraft and his most recognisable creation; but if you want to experience true Lovecraftian horror of the highest order, and with great gameplay mechanics to match, I’d still suggest you go and buy yourself a copy of Bloodborne instead.
