Just over a year after first cryptically alluding to “multiple physical assaults” on the NCIS set, Pauley Perrette has shed more light on her claims — and in doing do put series lead Mark Harmon in the crosshairs.

In a Friday tweet that didn’t appear to be in response to anything in particular, the NCIS alum said, “NO I AM NOT COMING BACK! EVER! (Please stop asking?) I am terrified of Harmon and him attacking me. I have nightmares about it.”

Two hours later, she followed that up with close-up photos of a crew member who, lore has it, was bitten by Harmon’s dog on-set in October 2016. (TMZ reported at the time that the crew member had been “roughhousing” with the then three-year-old pit bull mix, and required 16 stitches for his injury.)

“You think I didn’t expect blow back? You got me wrong,” Perrette’s second Friday tweet read. “THIS happened To my crew member and I fought like hell to keep it from happening again! To protect my crew! And then I was physically assaulted for saying NO!? and I lost my job.”

CBS did not immediately respond to TVLine’s request for comment on Perrette’s June 7 tweets.

Perrette last appeared in NCIS’ penultimate Season 15 episode (airing May 8, 2018), in which Abby committed herself to following in fallen colleague Clayton Reeves’ footsteps by shepherding a charity for homeless women. Abby shared heartfelt, in-person farewells with everyone on the team… except for Harmon’s Gibbs, with whom she instead exchanged a conspicuously edited ASL good-bye across his front lawn:

Days after said NCIS sendoff, Perrette alluded on Twitter to “multiple physical assaults” on the CBS drama’s set, but declined to go into any detail. “I refused to go low, that’s why I’ve never told publicly what happened,” she wrote then. “I’m trying to do the right thing, but maybe silence isn’t the right thing about crime.”

She also claimed that a “very rich, very powerful publicity ‘machine’” was “keeping [her] silent,” and yet she cryptically maintained: “He did it.”

CBS at the time responded with a statement saying, “Over a year ago, Pauley came to us with a workplace concern. We took the matter seriously and worked with her to find a resolution. We are committed to a safe work environment on all our shows.”

Perrette is set to return to CBS in 2020, starring alongside Jane the Virgin‘s Jaime Camil in the midseason comedy Broke.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine this morning, the 41-year-old actress, who plays police detective Vanessa Harmon, teased that viewers would be “surprised” by the finale. 

“As the show goes on and the final episode is next week, there are more revelations and surprises,” she said.

Reflecting on the show’s success, the Mistresses star explained: “It’s a controversial subject. I think the way it was set up – it was whose lying, it could have gone either way. 

“Once there was the revelation and we found out who was lying and who was telling the truth, you thought, ‘Where’s it going to go next?’ I think that’s the genius of the writing that Jack and Harry Williams that they know.

“It’s so unpredictable I don’t think anyone expected what would happen to me.” 

The latest episode of the ITV thriller left fans shocked after it emerged that heart surgeon Andrew Earlham (played by Ioan Gruffudd) had secretly recorded all the rapes he’d committed over the years.

He had stowed the damning videos away in his mother’s shed and appeared to be evading justice after the police were unable to get the evidence they needed. 

Vanessa also went to see her GP after suffering some bleeding, only to find out that she’d been sexually assaulted. 

On evil rapist Andrew, Shelley said: “The charming psychopath. He’s like a model citizen in every way. He’s so convincing and I think that’s the problem. 

“Obviously he’s not well. They did all the research who does this kind of thing. Someone with a sense of entitlement.”

Shelley said she also understood the frustrations of the police after working on Liar, saying that despite getting enough evidence it would be down to the Crown Prosecution Service to take the case on. 

Liar concludes on ITV next Monday at 9pm.

Behind every powerful woman are legions of disgruntled male trolls trying to tear her down. It’s unfortunately a common sight on the internet: a female writer, social media personality, or women in the limelight find themselves subject to increasingly violent threats for a misspoken statement or badly-received work.

It’s even worse when it’s in a traditionally male sphere, like the case of Rick and Morty‘s new female writers. Jane Becker and Jessica Gao were part of a group of four female writers hired onto Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim show in season 3 — which until then had an all-male writers’ room. But this shift in the status quo led some Rick and Morty fans to lash out aggressively against Becker and Gao, harassing them on Twitter and doxxing them (publicly revealing their private information). And that has earned them the wrath of Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon.

Dan Harmon was livid over the way that his writers have been treated, and rightfully defensive of his show’s decision to work towards gender parity and shatter Adult Swim’s long-running issue working with women behind the scenes.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harmon went off against the trolls, calling them “disgusting.”

“I was familiar going into the third season, having talked to Felicia Day, that any high-profile women get doxxed, they get harassed, they get threatened, they get slandered. And part of it is a testosterone-based subculture patting themselves on the back for trolling these women. Because to the extent that you get can get a girl to shriek about a frog you’ve proven girls are girly and there’s no crime in assaulting her with a frog because it’s all in the name of proving something. I think it’s all disgusting.”

Gao and Becker are part of the group of new hires brought on earlier this year including Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener. They found themselves the subject of harassment by Rick and Morty fans after a few season 3 episodes with their names credited (“Rickmancing the Stone” and “Pickle Rick”) earned ire for one reason or another.

Harmon derided the fans’ “total ignorance of how writing a television show works,” explaining that each episode is a collaborative effort, with no single writer responsible for an episode’s voice or quality. The writer who gets credit for the episode is often the one who put in the most work, but to blame a single writer — in this case, to single out the female writers — is stupid.

Harmon continued telling it how it is, remarking that these trolls harassing his writers are likely immature or actual children who live with a dangerously regressive mindset:

“These knobs, that want to protect the content they think they own—and somehow combine that with their need to be proud of something they have, which is often only their race or gender. It’s offensive to me as someone who was born male and white, and still works way harder than them, that there’s some white male [fan out there] trying to further some creepy agenda by ‘protecting’ my work … And I’m speaking for myself—I don’t want the show to have a political stance. But at the same time, individually, these [harassers] aren’t politicians and don’t represent politics. They represent some shit that I probably believed when I was 15.”

After the surprise third season premiere debuted on Adult Swim on April Fools’ Day, fans are still waiting to find out when the rest of the episodes of Rick and Morty will make their debut this summer. With no release date officially announced, there’s no telling how much longer we’ll have to wait, but co-creator Dan Harmon recently took to Twitter in a hangover-inspired stream of updates to let fans know why this new season has taken so long to come together. More specifically, he wanted to debunk the rumors that he and co-creator Justin Roiland have been fighting, thereby delaying the season and putting future seasons in jeopardy.

Over the weekend, Dan Harmon wrote a series of posts on Twitter to explain what has been going on with the show. We’ve condensed them into a single statement and edited them to avoid certain abbreviations made due to the 140 character limit per post. Here’s what Harmon had to say:

A hungover thread where I address Rick and Morty devotees because I feel bad for any fan worrying about any show-threatening issue:

Justin and I are very regretful about the season taking way too long. I want to explain “what happened” because it’s way less dramatic than you might ever imagine. Post-internet TV audiences are so used to finding out there’s an intriguing/confusing/intense reason for delay, and Christ knows if you’ve ever seen MY name on the internet, I’ve only got myself to blame for an association with intrigue/confusion/drama.But the truth in this case is so very boring. I will put it to you as objectively as I can, though we aren’t talking about an auto plant.

The reason season three took long is because it took long to write, because it was season three of a show that we were scared to make worse than season two or season one. It’s a common yet odd phenomenon. Tail-chasing, perfectionism, overthinking? One problem is that any description you pick for it is going to have a falseness. If I say “we overthought” someone else could say “well, no, we thought the right amount,” it’s like talking about religion or something. It feels I think, to writers, sacrilegious and ineffective to open the creative process and poke and label.

But don’t worry about the content, because, the reason overthought slows you down is, you just do way more versions of stuff than needed. You usually end up back where you started. So as far as I can tell, although I’m too close to it, it’s just another good season of Rick and Morty that took way too fucking long to write because it just seems like the same stuff that took way less time to write. That’s it. Boring answer.

As I speak, more articles are coming out about me and Justin fighting because it’s a less boring reason for a season to take long and because I’m Dan Harmon. So it’s a smart fucking first guess, it just happens to be hilariously not true even in the slightest. If you do know of me at all you know that if Justin and I HAD ever fought, not only wouldn’t we be able to keep it secret, we’d be all too eager to share it with you. Also, that’s not what would make the show slow down! Fighting probably would have been a good idea, it might have sped us up.

So that’s it. I shouldn’t have started a thread when I need to pack for airport, but that’s it. We took too long writing. Totes regrets. And we look back and we talk to each other about how we can avoid it happening again and I’m pretty sure the reason it won’t is ’cause tt happened. That’s how it works. You do something you don’t know you’re doing and then you’re like, oh I did that, and then you do otherwise. I don’t know if any danger to the show itself that comes from you believing Justin and I are fighting, and the show is gone forever, BUT like I said, it breaks my heart to think of some kid reading one of these clickbait pieces after all the energy that kid has put into fandom.

The show by my metric, which is people seeing my tee shirts and saying “I love that show” has like the craziest reach of anything I’ve been a part of. So it makes sense that when you take something that loved and delay it this long and let the internet simmer, you get this stuff. And we’re flattered by it and thankful to you and can’t wait for you to see season three.

And also JUSTIN IS A PIECE OF SHIT I’M GOING TO FIST FIGHT.

That should put any rumors out there to rest, especially with as honest as someone like Dan Harmon is about his shortcomings and how difficult he is to work with. So don’t worry about Rick and Morty coming to an end because Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland are fighting. That’s not the case, and it sounds like the co-creators have figured out what took them so long to get this season done so they don’t take quite as long in future seasons. But to be honest, they can take as much time as they want if it means we keep getting quality episodes of one of the best adult animated series on TV.
