Linda and Anne Nolan revealed they were both battling cancer earlier this month and both are currently undergoing treatment. However, speaking on BBC Breakfast this morning, Linda explained her sister is struggling with her chemotherapy more than she is. She added the pair are both determined not to die and to beat the illness.

When asked by host Charlie how she was coping, Linda explained: “Right now I’m good.

“I’ve got certain side effects from the chemo, I’ve got pins and needles in my fingers and toes but it hasn’t been too bad.

“I think for me personally, I was traumatised losing my hair.

“At the time you feel like you’re being a little vain but I think everybody takes it differently.

“For women, losing your hair can be a really traumatic thing, we’re not supposed to be going around bald.”

Linda continued: “But you know I’m good but Anne has really had it tough.

“Her body isn’t handling the chemo so well.

“We’re getting there, our sister Maureen moved in with Anne to look after her and I moved into my sister Denise, into her house, so she can look after me.”

In the campaign, Linda tells the public they should feel “absolutely safe in the hands of the NHS” and praised its “heroic work”.

She remarked: “The care I have received has been nothing short of exceptional.

“I know people up and down the country have had similar experiences of the heroic work the NHS and staff are doing to continue to deliver the vital care we all need, even as they deal with the ongoing pandemic.

“So, whilst it might seem daunting, it’s important people know they can feel absolutely safe in the hands of the NHS going in for treatments.”

MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow unloaded on NBC News executives Friday about the organization’s handling of Ronan Farrow’s reporting on disgraced Hollywood bigwig Harvey Weinstein, and later, its handling of allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against ousted Today show anchor Matt Lauer.

In a 16-minute monologue that preceded an interview with Farrow, himself a former NBC News employee, Maddow openly questioned why higher-ups at her parent company did not invite an external firm to investigate the Weinstein debacle or claims that Lauer exhibited inappropriate workplace behavior.

“Accusations that people in positions of authority in this building may have been complicit in some way, in shielding those guys from accountability, those accusations are very, very hard to stomach,” she said. “And I can tell you inside this building, this issue — the Weinstein story having to leave the building to get told, and combine that with… the Access Hollywood tape/Billy Bush story also having to leave this building in order to get told — the amount of consternation this has caused among the rank and file people who work here would be almost impossible for me to overstate.”

Maddow then revealed that her show had “independently confirmed” that NBC News told Farrow to hit “pause” on his reporting of Weinstein, a story he eventually took to The New Yorker that earned him a Pulitzer Prize. She also confirmed that NBCUniversal has agreed to release NBC News employees from contractual clauses that could prevent them from disclosing their experience with sexual harassment. The full statement by an NBCUniversal spokesperson reads as follows:

Any former NBC News employee who believes that they cannot disclose their experience with sexual harassment as a result of a confidentiality or non-disparagement provision in their separation agreement should contact NBCUniversal and we will release them from that perceived obligation.

Maddow also read a second statement, this one from NBC News, on whether or not it would submit itself to an external review:

Over a year ago, NBC News released a 12-page, transparent accounting of the Weinstein reporting… Once again, we stand by it.

In closing, Maddow defended Farrow against NBC News, reminding her audience that he went on to break stories about former CBS chairman Les Moonves (who resigned over allegations of sexual harassment), former New York A.G. Eric Schneiderman (who resigned over allegations of physical abuse), and former M.I.T. Media Lab director Joichi Ito (who resigned after the lab’s involvement with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, was made public).

A LINGERIE trader, a building-materials supplier and two fruit-and-vegetable importers are all accused of laundering hundreds of millions of euros through their accounts with ING, a big Dutch bank, between 2010 and 2015. Its accounts were also used by a telecoms company, VimpelCom (now VEON), to pay $ 55m in bribes in order to operate in Uzbekistan (the firm admitted the charges and reached a separate settlement with Dutch and American authorities in 2016).

ING, Dutch prosecutors say, missed the signs because of “serious and repeated shortcomings” in its approach to anti-money-laundering rules. On September 4th they fined it €775m ($ 900m). It has acknowledged failings and will hold back bonuses for, or suspend, senior staff who fell short of standards.

“The Maestro has topped himself,” Deadwood vet W. Earl Brown says of series creator David Milch’s final script for the long-awaited, recently greenlit HBO revival movie.

Over the course of the two-hour script, “my emotions ricocheted in every [f–king] direction,” Brown — who plays Dan Dority, Al Swearengen’s right-hand man — said across a series of tweets on Wednesday. “Exhilaration to melancholy; hoots of joy to screams of despair.”

“Milch’s words are like a scrumptious meal,” he continued, “the complexity of its flavors is something to savor.”

Brown said that Milch’s final draft is akin to a previous version he read a year-and-a-half ago, but “the complexities of the relationships, the emotional peaks and depths, are all sharpened to a razor fine edge.

“It’s gut wrenching,” he added.

Fielding a few questions from fans who follow his Twitter feed, Brown said that the movie is set 10 years after the events of Season 3, which wrapped in 2006. Production is set to start on Oct. 5, with an eye on a spring 2019 premiere.

As for the absence of series vet Powers Boothe, who played saloon owner/Swearengen rival Cy Tolliver and passed away in May 2017, “I can’t tell you” how it is handled, Brown said. “But I will say, his absence is not ignored.” He then noted, “There is no recasting of any roles” for the long-gestating reunion project.

For a series that follows the stars of a shallow and campy wrestling show, GLOW sure knows how to pack an emotional punch.

While the show’s focus may be on the trials of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, that does not mean the men are spared any heartbreak. The dramedy’s sophomore run takes Chris Lowell‘s Bash for quite a ride — and a painful one at that.

The second season, which premiered on Netflix in late June, starts with Bash in a happy and healthy place. His show has a venue, a solid time slot and a steady stream of revenue. However, GLOW quickly throws Bash into a tear-jerking wrestling match against his own identity, sending him on a personal journey as he begins to come to terms with his homosexuality. What starts with the discovery that good friend Florian is gay and has died of AIDS develops into an impulsive, fear-induced marriage to Rhonda, a clear sign that Bash has not yet accepted who he is.
