The first three quarters of 2018 show that Sunrun’s residential solar panel sales have outpaced SolarCity’s residential solar panel sales, according to data from analysis firm Wood Mackenzie. Though Tesla, the owner of SolarCity, has been losing ground in the solar panel market-share game for years now, Sunrun’s new upset shows just how far Tesla has pulled SolarCity back.

This appears to be at least partially by Tesla’s design: the company has repeatedly moved to scale back its solar panel business, ending door-to-door sales, closing a number of locations, and ending affiliate sales at establishments like Home Depot. As a result, SolarCity has gone from cornering 33.5 percent of the US’ residential solar panel market share to holding on to just 9.1 percent of the same market, according to Wood Mackenzie’s numbers.

This may be fine with Tesla. The company recently discounted its solar panels, and, in a recent interview with Bloomberg, Tesla Senior Vice President of Energy Sanjay Shah said that cutting marketing reduced the cost of Tesla’s systems by 10 to 15 percent.

Flames are racing along the southern California coastline as firefighters work to contain the fast-moving Woolsey Fire. The blaze has already scorched 14,000 acres on the outskirts of Los Angeles, and the nearby Hill Fire has charred 6,100 acres in Ventura County.

They’re just two of thousands of California wildfires recorded this year. Meanwhile, to the north, the Camp Fire has killed five people and leveled the entire town of Paradise.

Both of the LA-area fires started Thursday afternoon, and though no deaths have been reported, many people have had to leave behind their beloved pets and homes and flee. 

Here’s a glimpse at the devastation in southern California so far.

The beach city of Malibu is home to about 13,000 people. On Friday, as flames from the Woolsey Fire raced towards the coast, the entire town was forced to evacuate.

Shortly after noon on Friday, the City of Malibu said on its website that the “fire is now burning out of control and heading into populated areas of Malibu. All residents must evacuate immediately.”

Despite years of disagreements on Syria, leaders of Turkey, France, Germany, and Russia have worked out a common vision of the steps to reconciliation in the war-torn country as they met in Istanbul. Here’s the summary of it.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who hosted the talks, was joined by Russia’s Vladimir Putin and France’s Emmanuel Macron, as well as Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel. Following the summit, the four leaders held a joint press conference and released a communique, highlighting what common ground they had found during the four-way talks.

  • Only political solution for Syria
    The leaders have “expressed their support for an inclusive, Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political process that is facilitated by the United Nations.”
  • Need to start work on constitution in Geneva
    A committee set to draft a new constitution for Syria should begin its work as soon as possible, preferably before the end of this year.
  • No to division of Syria
    Syria must continue to exist within its pre-war borders. Any separatist movements or desires of foreign powers to occupy parts of the country are therefore firmly rejected.
  • Keep ceasefire & defeat terrorists
    The four countries have expressed their support for the Idlib ceasefire deal, brokered earlier by Russia and Turkey. At the same time, they emphasized the importance of fighting terrorism and condemned the usage of chemical weapons.
  • Boost humanitarian aid
    The United Nations and other international organizations should bolster aid deliveries to the war-torn country. “Swift, safe and unhindered” flow of humanitarian aid will provide much needed relief to the sufferings of the Syrian people.
  • Help return of refugees
    The four leaders stressed the importance of “safe and voluntary” return of refugees to Syria. To facilitate the process, appropriate housing and social care facilities must be constructed in the country.
  • Internationally-observed elections
    The ultimate goal of the political settlement process is holding transparent, internationally-observed elections, the statement reads. All Syrians, including those who had to flee the country, must be able to participate.

SpaceX may be an old hand at rocket landings by this point, but there are still a few firsts left. The private spaceflight company is launching Argentina’s SAOCOM 1A satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 10:21PM Eastern (7:21PM Pacific), and you’ll want to watch what happens on the way down. If all goes according to plan, this will be SpaceX’s first ground landing on the West Coast — it used a drone ship for California missions until now. You can start watching live on YouTube (below) 15 minutes before takeoff.

Whether or not you’re following the launch, you’ll probably hear it if you’re a local. Vandenberg has warned people in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties that they might hear multiple sonic booms as the Falcon 9’s first stage touches down at the base’s Landing Zone 4.

As The Verge noted, SpaceX hasn’t been making sea landings by choice. Elon Musk’s company had leased a former Titan rocket launch site in 2015 to build its own landing pad, but it it hasn’t received clearance. It’s landing on terra firma after successfully obtaining a license for the pad this summer. You can expect more rocket landings after this, then.

Be ready for a sudden change in plans. There’s no specified launch window, and that could force SpaceX to move liftoff to October 11th if it has to scrub the launch on the 7th.

To create a successful company, you need some money to pay for office space, employees and everyday bills from utilities to legal fees. This can dampen entrepreneurs’ ability to bring their business ideas to life especially if they don’t have much capital in their savings account. Imagine trying to start a new company in San Francisco with its exorbitant cost of living. Below we look at a slew of factors to rank the cities with the lowest and highest startup costs in the country.

To rank the cities with the lowest startup costs we looked at data on a variety of metrics that affect businesses. We looked at the cost of filing fees, office space rentals, utilities, lawyers, accountants, and payroll for five employees. Key findings

  • Startup capitals are expensive — When you think of startups, you think of the Bay Area or maybe New York. But according to our data, those cities, along with Washington, DC, are the most expensive places to start a new business. Of course, depending on your industry, like finance in New York or tech in San Francisco, being in a particular place is worth the additional costs. In such a case, you may have no choice but to set up shop in in the most expensive areas if you want your startup to succeed.
  • Tennessee is plenty affordable — In total, the Volunteer State has three representatives in the top 10. Chattanooga takes the top spot while Knoxville and Memphis take eighth and ninth respectively.

1. Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga, Tennessee is the most affordable place to start a company, according to our data. Office space here is affordable and hiring workers for your business won’t bankrupt you, at least right away. We estimate payroll for five employees will cost just over $ 214,300 per year. Combine payroll with renting an office and paying your lawyer and accountant and we estimate the annual cost of running a new business in Chattanooga to be about $ 236,600 per year.

2. Greensboro, North Carolina

Another city in the South offers companies competitive rates for starting businesses. Last year we estimated payroll for five employees would cost $ 213,400 per year. Now that figure has jumped up to $ 216,500, good news for employees but less good news for business owners. Regardless, Greensboro occupies the second spot. If you are attracted by the affordability of starting a business here, it may make sense to start one that targets the textile industry. Occupations like upholsterers and textile bleaching and dying machine operators are more than 20 times more common in Greensboro than they are in the rest of the county.

3. Wichita, Kansas

Kansas’ largest city comes in third. Filing fees here are some of the lowest in the top 10 at only $ 140. The cost of renting an office is also very reasonable. According to our research 1,000 square feet of office space should cost about $ 14,720 per year. Even the cost of lawyers and accountants is lower than in the two cities ranked above. Wichita falls to third because of payroll costs. Five full-time employees will cost over $ 219,300 on average, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates.
