The allegations date back to 2008.

A former Scotland Yard detective said he was shocked by the “thousands” of pornographic images he allegedly discovered on Green’s computer at the time Green was the Tories’ immigration spokesman in opposition. Officer Neil Lewis says he examined the device as part of an inquiry into government leaks, but had never spoken about it before.

In his first broadcast interview on the investigation, Lewis told the BBC: “The shocking thing as I was viewing it, I noticed a lot of pornography – thumbnails, which indicated web browsing. There was a lot of them. I was surprised to see that on a parliament computer. I had to take a step back because I wasn’t expecting that.”

But contrary to previous reports, he said the pictures were not extreme and did not feature images of children or sexual abuse.

It comes as a fresh Cabinet Office inquiry has been launched into allegations of sexual misconduct among Westminster MPs, with Green facing accusations of making inappropriate advances on party activist Kate Maltby.

Green, the PM’s right-hand man as First Secretary of State, insists he never watched or downloaded pornography on the computer. Neil said there is no question the device he inspected in 2008 belonged to Green.

“The computer was in Mr Green’s office, on his desk, logged in, his account, his name,” said Lewis, who at the time was working as a computer forensics examiner for SO15, the counter-terrorism command.

“In between browsing pornography, he was sending emails from his account, his personal account, reading documents… it was ridiculous to suggest anybody else could have done it.”

A spokesperson for Green said: “It would be inappropriate for Mr Green to comment on these allegations while the Cabinet Office investigation is ongoing. However, from the outset he has been very clear that he never watched or downloaded pornography on the computers seized from his office.

“He maintains his innocence of these charges and awaits the outcome of the investigation.”

Lewis, who spent 25 years with the Metropolitan Police before retiring in 2014, said he was forced to delete the data on the computer copies he had made after the leaks inquiry came to an end.

The former detective said he followed instructions and erased the data, but kept copies so experts could retrieve it if they ever needed to. He suggested, however, that all the items may have been deleted now.

Ikea is known for its flat-pack kitchen tables, islands, and cabinets.

Now the home furnishings retailer is experimenting with products that allow people to harvest food at home.

Space10, Ikea’s innovation lab, has designed a prototype of a mini-farm that can grow greens and herbs indoors.

Called Lokal, it uses a hydroponic farming system — allowing crops to grow on trays under LEDs in a climate-controlled box. Space10 debuted the device in September at the London Design Festival in Shoreditch.

AUSSIE boxing legend Danny Green says Conor McGregor has secretly known for years that he would end up boxing Floyd Mayweather and has been doing more boxing training than he has been letting on.

The Mayweather-McGregor fight was only made official this week, however McGregor previously teased the fight was on the cards by releasing videos of him sparring inside a boxing ring in February.

The 44-year-old says McGregor has actually been training specifically for his boxing fight with Mayweather for much longer than that.

He said McGregor would likely have been giving preference to his boxing training before and even during his preparation to fight Eddie Alvarez for the UFC’s lightweight title in November, 2016.

It means McGregor will have had around a solid 12 months of boxing training by the time he steps into the ring to fight Mayweather in Las Vegas on August 27 (AEDT) — but it is still nowhere near enough training for him to match it with Mayweather, Green says.

“His style has adapted in the last six months,” Green told news.com.au.

“He’s predominantly been training boxing for the last 6-10 months. I reckon he’s known this fight has been coming and he’s been planning it and been boxing the whole time. So I think his style when he goes into the ring against Floyd will be altered more for boxing.

“This plan was hatched a couple of years ago. It just makes sense. McGregor’s a megastar and Floyd’s a megastar.”

Green has a high opinion of McGregor’s clean striking ability, but he says transferring that to box against arguably the most flawless boxer ever seen is an unfair task.

Even the extra boxing training he has done behind the scenes won’t be enough for his boxing technique to stand up to Mayweather’s attacks.

“It’s going to take 10-15 years to turn him into a fighter that would be able to beat Floyd Mayweather,” he said.

“If he was going to be able to beat him it would take 10 years not 10 weeks. I don’t think it will make much difference.”

It’s why his advice to McGregor is simple — come out swinging and don’t stop for one second.

Green, who is continuing to build his 12 Round Fitness gym empire which features fitness programs designed to replicate 12 rounds of boxing, said McGregor’s only chance to cause a mammoth upset is to fight in close to Mayweather and never allow him to get comfortable.

Green said Conor’s best chance as a Southpaw stance fighter is to replicate what Zab Judah did against Mayweather when he briefly troubled the undefeated champion in the opening rounds before Mayweather went on to win in a unanimous decision from the judges.

He said Marcos Maidana also showed in 2014 that Mayweather can be troubled by a fighter that comes out throwing “wild and woolly” punches when Mayweather won their first fight via a split judges decision.

Green says McGregor has to risk getting stopped in the opening few rounds and throw a wild flurry of punches right from the start if he’s to have a chance.

“He cannot sit back and try to outbox Floyd Mayweather,” he said.

“He has to go for broke. He has to go hard early and he has to go for broke. He cannot outbox Floyd Mayweather. That’d be a mistake to sit back and try to play cat and mouse with him. He could do it in the UFC, but he can’t with Floyd.

“McGregor is a novice boxer. A real novice. So he’s going to be out of his depth, but in saying that he’s a phenomenal fighter. He’s a real fighter. I have a lot of respect for both of them, but I just think Floyd is one of the greatest boxer’s of all time and I think he’s going to pick Conor McGregor apart and potentially expose him as a fairly novice fighter.”

Despite that, he says McGregor is too unpredictable to write off just yet.

It’s why he’ll be turning in to watch the spectacle just like the record number of fans are expected to do when they buy the pay-per-view for the fight.

He says he would be surprised if the fight does not out-sell Mayweather’s fight with Manny Pacquiao in 2015 — the highest grossing pay-per-view in sport.

“People are going to watch this,” Green said.

“They’re either going to see something f***ing crazy or they’re going to see Conor get towelled up. Either way it’s going to be entertainment.

“I would assume Floyd will win the fight convincingly, but Conor is too unpredictable to call it yet.”

The stationery based approach to social change is listed on the Greens’ shop for $ 3.50, alongside the “Standing Up For What Matters” pen ($ 3).

The Highlighting Racism highlighter is multi-purpose and can also be used to highlight sexism, homophobia and ableism. It’s unclear if the highlighter works on otherwise inoffensive study notes.

A Greens source told BuzzFeed News the highlighter was developed by the Young Greens as part of a university giveaway.

“Last year’s Highlighting Sexism [highlighter] proved very popular on campus,” they said.

“As protecting 18C is a core campaign for the Greens this year during the return to university period of March, we think it is fitting to change it to ‘Highlighting Racism’.”

Needless to say, the highlighter is made from recycled plastic.

“Of course we would have loved to see the highlighters in green instead of yellow, but recycled highlighters only came in yellow this year,” the source said.

“We would always choose to protect the environment just that little bit more over the brand impact we might have had with a green highlighter.”

The Australian Greens does not make any money from selling the highlighters as most are given away on university campuses during O-Week, and money from online sales goes towards production costs.
