If you need to lure the cops somewhere out of your way, you can drop your pants and just shake your buns, which is sure to get their (albeit furious ) attention! With enough scares, you’ll be able to get your hard-earned cola reward across the game’s one-hundred stages, or you can play around with the level editor option to create your own. Either way, you’ll find tons of enjoyment in scaring the building’s residents and guzzling pop!

Martin Shkreli was found guilty on two counts of securities fraud earlier this month, but the process of selecting a jury for the case against the former pharmaceutical CEO and hedge fund founder appeared to be as lively as the trial itself.

Some of the 200 potential jurors apparently did not hold back their views toward Shkreli during court interviews held over the course of three days in June. Their court interviews were compiled by Harper’s Magazine ahead of its September issue.

“I’m aware of the defendant and I hate him,” Juror No. 1 said. “I think he’s a greedy little man.”

When asked by the court if the juror agreed that jurors were obligated to “decide the case based only on the evidence,” Juror No. 1 responded with: “I don’t know if I could. I wouldn’t want me on this jury.”

“He’s the most hated man in America,” Juror No. 47 said. “In my opinion, he equates with Bernie Madoff … My parents are in their eighties. They’re struggling to pay for their medication. My mother was telling me yesterday how my father’s cancer drug is $ 9,000 a month,” the person claimed.

The court, emphasizing that the case would have to be considered with “an open mind,” dismissed Juror No. 47, who said, “I would find that difficult.

“When I walked in here today I looked at him, and in my head, that’s a snake — not knowing who he was,” Juror No. 52 said. “I just walked in and looked right at him and that’s a snake.”

Benjamin Brafman, Shkreli’s attorney, quipped, “So much for the presumption of innocence.”

“From everything I’ve seen on the news, everything I’ve read, I believe the defendant is the face of corporate greed in America,” Juror No. 77 said.

“We would object,” Brafman responded.

“You’d have to convince me he was innocent rather than guilty,” Juror No. 77 continued.

“I heard he bought an album from the Wu-Tang Clan for a million dollars,” Juror No. 144 said, referring to an exclusive single-copy album the hip-hop group released. Shkreli paid $ 2 million for the record in 2016. 

“The question is, have you heard anything that would affect your ability to decide this case with an open mind,” said the court. “Can you do that?”

“I don’t think I can because he kind of looks like a dick,” Juror No. 144 responded.

Juror No. 59, after being called upon to address the court, came out of the gates storming: “Your Honor, totally he is guilty and in no way can I let him slide out of anything because —” Juror No. 59 began, before being cut off.

“Okay,” the court interjected. “Is that your attitude toward anyone charged with a crime who has not been proven guilty?”

“It’s my attitude toward his entire demeanor, what he has done to people,” Juror No. 59 responded.

“All right,” the court said. “We are going to excuse you, sir.”

But Juror No. 59 wasn’t done: “And he disrespected the Wu-Tang Clan.”

The grumpy Chaser was in uncharacteristically good spirits for once, but that didn’t stop him from speaking his mind when he called Donna, 44, a self-proclaimed “adrenaline junkie” a “greedy ‘beep’”. 

First up to play the quiz game, the Warwickshire contestant was unimpressed when The Beast offered her £25,000 as a starting offer, saying it wasn’t enough to tempt her. 

Both the show’s host Bradley Walsh and The Beast were shocked at Donna’s attitude, and the Chaser suddenly lashed out.

“It’s not often Bradley and I are in agreement, 25 grand’s not a big enough offer?” he asked, gobsmacked.

Donna didn’t react to the question and managed to stick to her guns, but the Beast may have took the game too far when he snapped back at her. 

“If this was a late night show I’d be saying you’re a greedy ‘beep’!”

Donna didn’t respond to the gameshow whiz, and ended up beating him after all with the lower offer, yet the team – also made up of Phil, 39, and Shirley, 65, – failed to win their cumulative prize money of £17,000 in the Final Chase.

The episode also saw John, 27, call Bradley a “poor deprived man” when he admitted to not knowing what sea monkeys are, after the comedian pressed the contestant on if he was “serious” about breeding them as a hobby. 

The Beast continued to make controversial quips when he later said to Shirley: “Well, as a nan, you’re used to not being paid, and that’s what going to happen here tonight.”

However, he admitted that the final Chase had been a tough game, with the group “making him sweat”.

The Chase continues tomorrow at 5pm on ITV.

Whole Foods’ founder and CEO had harsh words for an activist investor hedge fund that criticized the grocery chain as it struggles to improve its business. 

CEO John Mackey called activist investor Jana Partners “greedy bastards” in an series of interviews with Texas Monthly. He also referred to them as “Ringwraiths,” which are villainous characters from the “Lord of the Rings” series.

“[T]hese guys just want to sell us, because they think they can make forty or fifty percent in a short period of time,” Mackey told Texas Monthly’s Tom Foster. “They’re greedy bastards, and they’re putting a bunch of propaganda out there, trying to destroy my reputation and the reputation of Whole Foods, because it’s in their self-interest to do so.” 

Jana Partners announced it had upped its stake in Whole Foods to more than 8 percent in April. The hedge fund is pushing for major changes at the grocery chain, including a board shakeup and a possible sale of the company.

In May, Whole Foods announced it had overhauled its board, replacing five members — some of whom had close ties to Mackey.

Mackey, who opened the first Whole Foods location in 1980, sees the hedge fund’s efforts as short-sighted and in direct opposition to the ideals of “conscious capitalism” that he has espoused for decades. 

“They’re Ringwraiths,” or power-obsessed individuals, Mackey said. “The guy behind Jana Partners, for example, who’s attacking us [Barry Rosenstein], he bought the most expensive home ever sold in America, for $ 147 million. And their mantra is basically shareholder value. They don’t care about the stakeholders or long-term value.”

However, stakeholders say that the power play between Mackey and investors isn’t the “morality play” he says it is. 

“This isn’t the rapacious hedge fund versus the conscious capitalist,” an anonymous Whole Foods shareholder told Foster. “That’s a straw-man argument. The business is hemorrhaging customers.”

In May, Whole Foods reported that same-store sales at stores open at least a year fell 2.8% in the second quarter. 

“That Whole Foods can’t turn around its fortunes is, in our opinion, the result of several fundamental flaws in its business model,” retail consulting firm GlobalData’s managing direct Neil Saunders wrote in a note to clients, citing issues including the rise of other organic grocers, uninspired store design, and bland food. “Over the past few years, these cracks have become more pronounced, and the company has done seemingly little to correct them.”

After spending millions to combat the opioid epidemic ravaging its citizens, the working-class city of Everett, Washington, is taking the maker of opioid painkiller OxyContin to federal court. The city claims that the drug maker, Purdue Pharma, knowingly sold to black markets out of pure greed, enabling the devastating epidemic hitting Everett and the rest of the country.

According to the lawsuit (PDF) filed in federal court in Seattle, Everett accuses Purdue Pharma of “knowingly, recklessly, and/or negligently supplying OxyContin to obviously suspicious physicians and pharmacies and enabling the illegal diversion of OxyContin into the black market, including to drug rings, pill mills, and other dealers for dispersal of the highly addictive pills in Everett.” Purdue’s goal, Everett alleges, was to “generate enormous profits” at the expense of the people of Everett.

Purdue isn’t new to court battles. In 2007, the infamous drug maker and three of its executives pled guilty in federal court and paid out $ 634.5 million in fines for purposefully misleading regulators, doctors, and patients about the addictiveness of their opioid painkiller. Around the same time, Purdue was also sued by several states, including Washington, over similar allegations. Purdue agreed to a $ 19.5 million multi-state settlement. And in 2015, Purdue settled a case with Kentucky, agreeing to pay $ 24 million.

Would-be Bake Off stars might want to take a look at the dishes favoured by the restaurateur, ahead of auditions for the show, which was poached by Channel 4 from the BBC last year.

Prue also extols the virtues of everyday ingredients and of banishing waste. Of breadcrumb pancakes [see recipe, below] she wrote: “These are a delicious variation on dropped scones, and useful for using up stale bread. 

“Usually a tea-time indulgence, they are also good served with a rasher of grilled bacon and a blob of sour cream for supper.” 

Chocolate truffles are recommended as an ideal Christmas treat and she suggests: “Whisky, rum or brandy can be substituted for the sherry. A little booze is vital, though.”

Revellers are also encouraged to be inventive by making fruit and nut chocolates to hang on the Christmas tree, wrapped in silver paper. 

“They look and are like the best hand-made chocolates from Bond Street,” she promised. But one idea did not go down so well. 

She recalled: “Once I wrote suggesting that Granny might like a box of home-made cookies for Christmas. 

“I was immediately pelted with indignant letters from grans, nans and aunties saying that Chanel No 5, a skateboard, a T-shirt with I’m One on the bosom, the latest Boomtown Rats single and a copy of the Joy of Sex, Part II, would be more in their line.”

Although genuinely popular with readers, she later revealed her relationship with then editor, the late Sir John Junor, was a little flat.

Describing him as an “unreformed Scot who hated onions, garlic, and anything remotely spicy” she made it clear he would not be her ideal dining companion. The woman seeking to follow in the footsteps of 81-year-old Mary Berry has plenty of judging experience from BBC Two’s Great British Menu, which she found an unexpected joy. 

She writes on her website: ‘‘I thought I detested doing telly (I’m so vain I hate how I look, you spend all day filming for 20 usable minutes, studios are always freezing or stifling etc), but I just love the GBM. 

“Oliver and Matthew, my fellow judges are a hoot, the crew members are funny and delightful and never snappy, precious or antsy. But how long can an old duck like me (I am well into my seventies for Pete’s sake) go on doing this?” 

Prue, 77, married Scottish clothes designer John Playfair, 71, last year, after he wooed her with haggis meals, but they still live in their own houses which are a mile apart in England. 

Her first husband, South African author Rayne Kruger, died in 2002. They had been married for 38 years.

Leith’s breadcrumb pancakes recipe

INGREDIENTS 

1 teacup fine breadcrumbs 

1 teacup milk 1oz butter, melted 

1 small egg, separated 

3oz flour H

alf a teaspoon salt 

1 teaspoon baking powder 

METHOD 

Soak the crumbs in the milk. Beat in the butter, then the egg yolk, then the flour, salt and baking powder. Lastly add the egg white, whisked to a snow. 

Lightly grease a heavy frying pan or griddle iron and heat well. Drop spoonfuls of the batter on to the hot surface and turn them over as they brown. 

Serve, buttered and drizzled with golden syrup, sugar or maple syrup.
