This post contains spoilers for the “Jujutsu Kaisen” Manga
“Jujutsu Kaisen 0” has finally made its streaming debut on Crunchyroll, allowing North American viewers who missed the film in theaters earlier this year to watch it at home. The film is an adaptation of the manga of the same name, with a fascinating history behind its conception. Creator Gege Akutami originally released the story as a one-shot manga called “Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School.” Still, the popularity of its characters and concept led to it retroactively becoming a prequel to “Jujutsu Kaisen,” thus receiving the name “Jujutsu Kaisen 0.”
Once it was clear to the mangaka that this world he created would live beyond the one-shot story, Akutami made a new cast of characters. Enter the cast of the first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen.” Viewers would come to love the cast of Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki in the series’ first season and the ongoing manga. While characters like Satoru Gojo would jump into the mainline series, there was no sign of Yuta Okkotsu, the main character of “Jujutsu Kaisen 0.” However, like any good mangaka, Akutami had a long-term plan for implementing Yuta into the main story of “Jujutsu Kaisen.”

Yuta is introduced in “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” as a troubled youth unaware of his true potential as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. Accidentally manifesting his dead childhood friend Rika as a massively powerful cursed spirit, Yuta discovers how to channel his bond with her into something he can use for good.
The “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” film was all about developing Yuta as a character more than capable of handling himself. Shonen anime is almost always about power scaling and fights; by the film’s end, Yuta is near the top in the world of Jujutsu Sorcery. Yuta’s absence from the main series following his arc in the movie is simply done out of necessity to make room for less powerful characters to grow. If Yuta was there to swoop in anytime a curse gave sorcerers trouble, the first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” would be nowhere near as interesting.
With that being said, Yuta would only make his return to “Jujutsu Kaisen” if a powerful enough threat deemed it necessary for him to join the fight. Suppose the manga is anything to go by (which it is). In that case, Yuta’s debut in the anime series will come when he’s needed most: when the world’s strongest sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, is taken out of the picture.

“Jujutsu Kaisen” and its focus on power dynamics and the need to be “the strongest” leans heavily into how and why Yuta Okkotsu makes his debut in the series. Judging by a recent visual released to tease the upcoming second season of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” the anime will adapt the story arc of the manga that recounts the backstory of Gojo and how he becomes the strongest character in the series.
Not only will viewers get familiar with how Gojo became the strongest, but they will also more than likely witness a shift in power dynamics. The manga chapters that fall in line with the adaptation indicate that the second season will have Gojo sealed away and captured by evil Jujutsu Sorcerers, removing the most powerful character from the world of “Jujutsu Kaisen.”
The power vacuum left in the wake of Gojo’s absence in “Jujutsu Kaisen” will lead Yuta to make his triumphant return. With his teacher held captive by the enemy, Yuta Okkotsu automatically becomes one of the most powerful Jujutsu Sorcerers in the anime. Yuta Okkotsu’s late arrival in “Jujutsu Kaisen” makes the character a hidden protagonist, emerging and becoming a significant player in the series just when things look the direst.

Overall, Yuta Okkotsu’s impact on the “Jujutsu Kaisen” anime remains to be seen. However, it’s important to remember that anime adaptations are mostly known for sticking closely to the source material. Given that precedent, Yuta should eventually become a necessary and powerful form of support for the likes of Itadori, Fushiguro, and the rest of the cast of “Jujutsu Kaisen.”
Yuta’s strength and cursed energy will broadly impact the story of “Jujutsu Kaisen” and their journey towards freeing Satoru Gojo. As seen in the “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” film, Yuta’s power shows unlimited potential and makes him the default strongest character in Gojo’s absence. Unfortunately, the anime adaptation is far from making these integral manga chapters a reality. While season 2 of the anime is confirmed, we’re far from getting any sort of confirmation of more seasons after that.
While future seasons aren’t guaranteed, the potential future of the “Jujutsu Kaisen” anime would have Yuta Okkotsu front and center. Until that becomes a reality, fans will have to make do with rewatching Yuta’s debut in the prequel film on Crunchyroll.

Former President Donald Trump, while in Ohio to rally support for Republican Senate candidate JD Vance, slammed President Joe Biden for the recent decline in national gas prices.
Speaking at the 7,000-seat Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Trump — who himself schemed in an effort to overturn the 2020 election — claimed that shrinking gas prices are a ploy Biden is using for political gain.
In a tweet, the White House recognized Saturday as the 95th day in which gas prices have steadily declined since reaching record highs earlier this year. According to the White House, the national average for a gallon of gas sits at $ 3.68.
The administration — and Biden himself — have claimed that the drop in prices is the steepest decline in more than a decade. Insider was unable to independently verify the claim.
—The White House (@WhiteHouse) September 17, 2022
Trump slammed Biden for going into the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve to release crude in an effort to ease overpriced gas despite the reserve being "only for war." But Trump did the same during his administration when Saudi Arabia's crude production drastically decreased following attacks on its production facilities, per CNBC.
"He's using that to keep prices down as much as he can just before the election and right after the election, it's going to double up and go higher than anybody ever believed," Trump claimed at the rally on Saturday.
—Brian Tyler Cohen (@briantylercohen) September 18, 2022
Trump claimed the current average is still "double and triple" what it was during his administration.
The Associated Press reported the national average was as low as $ 1.87 per gallon during May 2020, but the outlet attributed the low cost mostly to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
While the crowd cheered during Trump's rant on the current status of gas prices, some supporters didn't seem too bothered.
When an interviewer from Right Side Broadcasting Network pushed a woman clad in a pro-Trump hat to say the gas prices for her 5.5-hour drive were bad, the woman didn't agree.
"Wasn't too bad," the supporter said of the gas prices.

Former first lady Melania Trump worried that her husband was "blowing" the US response to COVID, but he told her she worried too much, a forthcoming book on Donald Trump's presidency reveals.
Melania Trump was "rattled by the coronavirus and convinced that Trump was screwing up," wrote New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker and New Yorker staff writer and CNN global affairs analyst Susan Glasser in their new book "The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021."
She shared her concerns with former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Trump ally, in a phone call and sought his help to persuade her husband to take it more seriously, according to CNN's reporting on the book set to publish Tuesday.
"'You're blowing this,' she recalled telling her husband," Baker and Glasser wrote, according to CNN. "'This is serious. It's going to be really bad, and you need to take it more seriously than you're taking it.' He had just dismissed her. 'You worry too much,' she remembered him saying. 'Forget it.'"
As the nation confronted mounting death tolls, Trump mocked mask-wearing and suggested disinfectant injections and sunlight treatments to fight COVID. He held a September Rose Garden ceremony to announce Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court that became known as a superspreader event.
Shortly after the event, he and Melania announced they contracted COVID. Polling at the time showed most Americans thought the president didn't take appropriate precautions for his health or the risk of contracting the virus seriously enough.
In February 2020, Trump acknowledged in an interview with author Bob Woodward for the book "Rage" that the virus was "deadly" and more dangerous than the flu, even while saying publicly it was no worse. A month later, Trump told Woodward, "I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic."
Days later, he was saying he wanted the nation "opened up and just raring to go by Easter."

]]>Following failed attempts to blast the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket skyward on August 29 and September 3, NASA engineers at the Kennedy Space Center launch site in Florida have been working tirelessly to fix the issues that caused those countdowns to halt.
With the rocket still on the launchpad, the to-do list has included replacing the seals at the center of the hydrogen leak that occurred during fueling operations for the rocket’s second launch attempt.
“Engineers have replaced the seals associated with the hydrogen leak detected during the #Artemis I launch attempt on Sept. 3,” NASA confirmed on Saturday. “The teams will inspect the new seals over the weekend and assess opportunities to launch.”

— NASA Artemis (@NASAArtemis) September 9, 2022
The launch team is now aiming to conduct a tanking demonstration as soon as September 17, a procedure designed to check the new seals under super-cold conditions that replicate the conditions on launch day.
The tanking demonstration will involve loading liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen in the SLS rocket’s core stage and interim cryogenic propulsion stage and getting to a stable replenish state for both propellants, NASA said.
Engineers will also conduct several other tests to validate the ground and flight hardware and software systems’ ability to perform the necessary functions required to thermally condition the engines for flight.
Once all of these preparations have been successfully carried out, the team will assess the data and make a final decision on whether to go for launch before the end of this month.
The upcoming Artemis I missions is one of the most highly anticipated NASA events in years as it will usher in a new era of space exploration that will soon involve astronaut missions to the moon and even Mars.
When the uncrewed Artemis I launch takes place hopefully in the coming weeks, the most powerful rocket NASA has ever built will propel the new Orion spacecraft toward the moon, where it’ll perform a fly-by before returning to Earth about six weeks later.
A successful mission will pave the way for Artemis II that will see the Orion take the same route though this time with a crew on board.
Artemis III, which could take place as early as 2025, will endeavor to put the first woman and first person of color on the lunar surface in what will also be the first astronaut landing since the final Apollo mission in 1972.
But that’s just the start, as NASA wants to build a moon base for long-duration astronaut missions, and also send the first crew to Mars in a historic voyage that could take place in the late 2030s. But before that can happen, there is still much work to be done.

Eddie Murphy was the surest of bets in the 1980s. At the age of 19, he single-handedly yanked “Saturday Night Live” back from the brink of cancellation after the departure of the original cast, and was all of 21 when he shot to big-screen stardom opposite Nick Nolte in Walter Hill’s action-comedy classic, “48 Hrs.” His second feature, “Trading Places,” was also a critical and commercial hit, while his stand-up LP “Eddie Murphy: Comedian” went platinum. By 1984, Murphy was so hot, Paramount inserted him into the finished Dudley Moore comedy “Best Defense” in the hopes that he could enliven the deathly unfunny film with his ad-libbed brilliance. It didn’t work, but no one held it against Murphy. The movie was just that bad.
There was no question that Murphy had turned into one of Hollywood’s biggest stars overnight, but his first two hits had been two-handers. He had yet to carry a film on his own. So more than a few eyebrows arched when Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer cast him as Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop.” For close to a decade, Paramount had developed the movie as a fish-out-of-water action flick. Mickey Rourke was once eyed as the leading man, and the movie came very close to production with Sylvester Stallone as the loose-cannon detective who shakes up the tony Los Angeles neighborhood while trying to track down the drug traffickers who killed his best friend.
This sounded a bit like “Best Defense” redux: a troubled project hastily retrofitted to accommodate Murphy’s comedic genius. It wasn’t long into production, however, that director Martin Brest, who repeatedly turned down the movie until he literally lost a coin flip, realized he had a potential blockbuster on his hands. This Murphy kid was the goods.

Paramount had high hopes for “Beverly Hills Cop” going into 1984’s holiday season, but the buzz was primarily focused on ambitious sci-fi movies like “Dune,” “2010” and “Starman.” There was also Francis Ford Coppola’s pricey gangland epic “The Cotton Club” and another cop comedy in the Clint Eastwood-Burt Reynolds vehicle “City Heat.” Eddie would bury them all.
According to Nick De Semlyen’s immensely entertaining “Wild and Crazy Guys: How the Comedy Mavericks of the ’80s Changed Hollywood Forever,” the studio was so excited by the euphoric response to an early test screening that they pumped an extra $ 2 million into the advertising budget, went wide on over 1,500 screens and opened the movie two days early on a Wednesday (a move typically reserved for event films). Paramount got a jump on the December competition, and, by Christmas, “Beverly Hills Cop” was the only wide-release movie anyone was talking about.
In the view of the film’s co-screenwriter, Daniel Petrie Jr., the film’s success hinged not just on Murphy’s high-wattage appeal, but in its subversion of cop movie cliches.
“In most films the cop wakes up alone in a sh***y apartment, has a cup of horrible coffee, then gets served divorce papers by his wife. But in this one you can see the enjoyment pouring out of Eddie all the time. Even though he’s at odds with all the people around him, he charms them all.”

“Beverly Hills Cop” blew past the $ 100 million barrier in early January 1985, while the aforementioned would-be blockbusters languished. 20th Century Fox president Tom Sherak groused that Murphy was “the Grinch that stole Christmas.” Amazingly, the film hung out in the top five of the U.S. box office until Memorial Day, and bucked the video rental market by hitting VHS in the fall of 1985 at a priced-to-sell $ 29.99 (at the time, most new releases cost an obscene $ 79.99).
Hollywood responded by rushing a number of imitation action-comedies into production. Some were pretty good (Brest’s “Midnight Run” wound up becoming the platonic ideal of the subgenre), but the formula quickly grew stale. Murphy eventually lost interest as well. He’s completely checked out in “Another 48 Hrs.,” and couldn’t get it out of third gear in “Beverly Hills Cop III.” This makes it difficult to work up any real enthusiasm for the currently shooting “Beverly Hills Cop IV.” Murphy is now 61. He’s older than Bill Cosby was when he made “Ghost Dad.” Though he proved he still had his fastball when he hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2019, he sleep-walked through 2021’s “Coming 2 America.”
If you grew up in the 1980s, you’re instinctively rooting for Murphy. It wasn’t just his generational talent. It was his age. He paid his nightclub dues while most kids are doing their geometry homework. He was so very far ahead of schedule, and shone so brightly at multiple stages of his career. Barring a late-breaking miracle, “Beverly Hills Cop” will remain the apex. No one was ever funnier or more magnetic. Arguably, no one was ever a bigger star.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who was harassed and threatened outside her home by a man with a gun, says the increase in threats to Congressional members is linked to rhetoric about the 2020 election by former President Donald Trump and other members of the GOP.
In July, an armed man was arrested and charged with felony stalking after camping outside Jayapal's neighborhood and threatening her. One neighbor told police she heard the man shout: "Go back to India, I'm going to kill you."
Jayapal told MSNBC's Ali Velshi on Saturday that she wanted people to understand the connections between stolen election rhetoric and the increased threats that Congressional members are facing.
"I think that what has changed is there's a sense that everything is so unfair and it's been propelled by Donald Trump," Jayapal said. "'The institutions are unfair,' and that the only recourse is to violence and that is an extremely dangerous thing. And we saw it come to fruition on January 6, and now in ways that you know, I've seen outside my door."
On Thursday, Jayapal released voicemails of threats against her and her family. The person in the recording tells Jayapal she is going to get "exactly what you deserve" and tells her to "go back to India."
"Typically, political figures don't show their vulnerability," Jayapal wrote. "I chose to do so here because we cannot accept violence as our new norm. We also cannot accept the racism and sexism that underlies and propels so much of this violence."
Threats to lawmakers in congress have increased by 144% since 2022, according to Capitol Police data shared with Axios. In the first three months of 2022, nearly 2,000 threats made to Congress members resulted in the Capitol Police opening cases.
Congress members like California Rep. Eric Swalwell and Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who is on the House Committee Investigating Jan. 6, have also released threatening voicemails targeting them and their families.
In a Washington Post profile released Thursday, Jayapal recounted her experiences dealing with harassing and threatening voicemails. She said she often wanted to hide the threats because she didn't want people to know how they emotionally affected her.
"But at the same time," Jayapal told the Post, "it's important people understand how ubiquitous this is, and how much a part of our psyche it is taking up."

]]>The largest of these announcements is the next mainline Assassin’s Creed game by Ubisoft Quebec, currently dubbed Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red. Like the recent flagship entries in the series, Codename Red is taking the globetrotting open-world series to a new country and culture with a feudal Japan setting. To top it all off, the main character of the game is a shinobi. Not too much else was said about the title and it does not have a firm release date.
A second Assassin’s Creed game is coming as well, though it’s a bit more mysterious. This one comes from Ubisoft Montreal with the assistance of Clint Hocking, an ex-LucasArts and Valve designer and director. Dubbed Assassin’s Creed: Project Hexe, the title only got a quicker teaser showing an Assassin’s Creed logo made out of twigs hanging in the woods. Ubisoft notes that the game isn’t a traditional installment of the series, but didn’t elaborate on how much of a departure it is.
Both of those titles will live inside Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a curious new project from Ubisoft. Project Infinity is a hub that’ll tie various games together, though it’s unclear how that works. Ubisoft did mention, however, that it’s looking into creating standalone multiplayer Assassin’s Creed titles, which would also live in the hub.
In addition to all of that, Ubisoft also showed off Assassin’s Creed: Project Jade. This entry in the series is a mobile game where players create their own assassins and explore an open-world set in ancient China. It’s a different project from another mobile Assassin’s Creed game announced during the show, which will be exclusive to Netflix.
No launch details have been given for the upcoming titles, but Ubisoft states that Infinity and the projects within it will launch “in the coming years.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a new interview spoke candidly about her political future, expressing doubts that she or another woman of color could become president because of the "misogyny" and "patriarchy" she says she's endured first-hand as a congresswoman.
"I admit to sometimes believing that I live in a country that would never let that happen," she told GQ in an interview published Wednesday.
The congresswoman said her experience in Congress "has given me a front-row seat to how deeply and unconsciously, as well as consciously, so many people in this country hate women."
"They hate women of color," the New York lawmaker continued. "People ask me questions about the future. And realistically, I can't even tell you if I'm going to be alive in September. And that weighs very heavily on me."
Since Ocasio-Cortez shocked the country by winning her primary in 2018 and seized the national spotlight, she's experienced hostility from her fellow colleagues on both sides of the aisle. In July 2020, then-Republican Rep. Ted Yoho of Florida reportedly called her a "fucking bitch." Last November, Republican Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona tweeted out an edited anime video showing him killing Ocasio-Cortez. And in July, a conservative comedian sexually harassed Ocasio-Cortez using racist language outside the Capitol building.
Ocasio-Cortez has also become a target of right-wing media and conservative circles, and has faced a barrage of death threats. She's said she feared being raped and killed as rioters stormed the the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
"It's not just the right wing. Misogyny transcends political ideology: left, right, center. This grip of patriarchy affects all of us, not just women; men," she told GQ.
Ocasio-Cortez has repeatedly dismissed questions about a future presidential run. She told GQ that she battles an "inner conflict" between the presidency being unattainable for someone like her and her belief that "anything is possible."
"Sometimes little girls will say, 'Oh, I want you to be president,' or things like that," she told GQ. "It's very difficult for me to talk about because it provokes a lot of inner conflict in that I never want to tell a little girl what she can't do. And I don't want to tell young people what is not possible. I've never been in the business of doing that."

As one technology giant announces its new slate of devices, another two set their dates for their own parties. Google has marked October 6th for its Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch event, with a live broadcast from New York City starting at 10 AM ET. Google spilled plenty of beans about what we could expect from the show at its I/O developer conference this summer. So we can expect the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and the new Pixel Watch to hog the spotlight. Then, on October 11th, Meta will hold its Connect event to show off all that’s new with augmented and virtual reality. We’re expecting this to be the first official unveiling of Facebook’s Project Cambria, a high-end VR headset likely to be sold under the name Meta Quest Pro. Plus another attempt or two to make Facebook’s vision for our augmented future look a bit less cringe.

Sometimes, you just need to get electricity into your device as quickly and efficiently as you can, without causing it to blow up. That’s why there are now so many fantastic fast charging plugs on the market, to help you avoid running out of power when you’re on the go. But with so many to choose from, it’s hard to know which ones are worth your money, and why.
Don’t fret: Your friend and mine Sam Rutherford has tested 14 plugs to see which one is the best. No spoilers, but it looks like the best phone charger will set you back just $ 30 and give you far better performance than whatever you’re using right now.
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is dealing with the effects of a ransomware attack which struck on September 3rd. Officials have already started working with other federal agencies to tackle the issue and have already locked down its other systems. The attack has affected the district’s business systems, but school operations and classes remain in operation – as does its in-school safety and emergency systems. Hopefully, this latest in a long series of cyberattacks on US institutions will push better security to the top of the agenda to ensure this sort of thing doesn’t happen again.
Ooooh, it’s been a while since we’ve had a spicy skirmish between phone carriers, and so here comes AT&T to keep us all amused. The mobile giant has lobbed a lawsuit through T-Mobile’s window, alleging the magenta carrier has engaged in false advertising against its rival. The issue hinges on a senior discount that AT&T is piloting in Florida, giving users over the age of 55 cheaper phone plans. T-Mobile, which already offers a plan called Unlimited 55+, countrywide, has called out AT&T, saying it’s only offering senior discounts to Floridians. Naturally, AT&T thinks T-Mobile isn’t playing fair and will take things to court to get the claims retracted.

This has already felt like the longest season in RuPaul’s Drag Race herstory, and Friday’s episode did nothing to change that.
Fresh off the elimination of Olivia Lux, the four remaining queens — Gottmik, Kandy Muse, Rosé and Symone — assembled in the werkroom to brace for their final challenge, immediately theorizing about the surprises still remaining up Ru’s sleeve.
“It could be that one of us goes home, it could be that two of us go home, it could be that none of us go home — we don’t know!” Symone said, though I think we all knew it was going end up being option No. 3. Seriously, did anyone think that only three queens would make it to the finale?
For their final challenge, the queens were tasked with writing, recording and performing their own verse to Mama Ru’s “Lucky,” complete with choreography by Jamal Sims. The end result was a fun, colorful music video that really featured all four girls in their best light. Gottmik delivered a spoken verse that remained inspiring without getting too cheesy, Kandy looked back on her journey “from the hood to Hollywood,” Symone served more attitude than anyone else, and Rosé… can rap? Is that what that was? Honestly, everybody slayed this in their own way, but if I had to pick a winner, it’d be another Symone/Rosé split.
Luck be a lady tonight!

The queens also appeared as guests on RuPaul and Michelle Visage’s new Inside Drag Race segment. (Don’t worry, there were still plenty of Tic-Tacs to not go around.) Rosé insisted that Jan will be more supportive than jealous of her success on the show, Kandy defended herself against haters who feel she hasn’t earned her spot in the Top 4, Gottmik admitted that her drag name may or may not have a porn star connection, and Symone looked back on her own journey of self-acceptance.
There was also some emotional kiki-ing as the queens prepared to hit the main stage one last time. Gottmik said this whole experience has taught her not to feel pressured as a representative of the trans male community. “I’ve learned that the best way to represent your community is just by being you,” she said. “The pressure’s just unnecessary.”
That revelation resonated with Symone, who explained, “I’ve had to unpack a lot of things about myself. I was a very lonely and very shy kid. I didn’t love myself. To come to this competition and to blossom into the Symone that everyone sees… I finally see it. And let me tell you, when you finally get on the other side, it is a beautiful feeling. Nobody can take that from me. I love me, and I can say that. I can say that now.” (BRB, sobbing.)
Now, for the runway: “Drag Excellence!” Mik gott things started in a form-fitting, Cruella de Vil-approved spotted dress; Kandy followed with a “fun, sexy, flirty” little number; Rosé paid tribute to her Scottish heritage in a gown made entirely of tartan; and Symone closed the show in a stunning purple gown with enormous sleeves that screamed “royalty!” in surround sound. The judges, of course, didn’t have a single negative thing to say about any of the queens’ looks. (I thought Symone’s was great, Rosé’s was good, Gottmik’s was fun and Kandy’s was a choice.)

— RuPaul’s Drag Race (@RuPaulsDragRace) April 10, 2021
Then came the final gag of the evening: Not only did all four queens have to lip sync for their lives, but they had to do it individually. Thus began a montage of four separate performances to Whitney Houston’s “I Learned From the Best” (HQ2 Radio Remix) — a song I have absolutely, 100-percent heard before. Like the girls’ performances in the music video, what is there to even critique about this? They all went the dramatic route, they were all fully committed, and I wasn’t the least bit surprised when Ru announced that they would all be staying for the finale.
