With major studios such as Disney withholding upcoming releases from streaming alternatives, it could be some time before audiences get the chance to see some of 2020 and 2021’s most anticipated new movies.

Black Widow and The Eternals are set to kick off Marvel’s Phase Four, which will also include new instalments in the Thor, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange franchises.

Marvel’s next slate will also feature the series’ first Asian-led film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, starring Simu Liu as the titular martial arts hero.

Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on NowTV. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is available on Disney Plus.

Ruth Davidson raged against the Scottish Government over their failure to protect care home residents and staff during the coronavirus pandemic. The former Scottish Tory leader hit out at Nicola Sturgeon for the decision to allow hospital patients back into care homes without testing for COVID-19. Speaking to Good Morning Britain, Ms Davidson said: “I think whatever inquiries we have out of the back of this, there’s going to be so many lessons that we have to learn.

“For example, you talk about the situation in England where some people were put into care homes without having tested negative first as they were discharged from hospital.

“We had the same thing in Scotland but we’ve had to a greater degree.

“We had the Scottish Government actively using beds in advance in care homes, spending money, telling care home operators ‘we want to emptier hospitals and we’re going to do it without testing or having a negative test back of the people we’re putting in there’.”

According to the latest reports from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Scotland has the highest care home death rate of all UK nations at 45 percent. Wales followed at 25 percent, England at 21 percent – the lowest in all of Europe.

Ms Davidson continued: “In terms of the agency of Government, actually, physically making the decision of putting people who may or may not be infected into an enclosed environment of incredibly vulnerable people.

“Our care home death in Scotland is double that of England.

“I think there need to be inquiries in every part of the UK because health is devolved.

“Wales is doing it differently, Scotland is doing it differently, England is doing it differently but we also need to have a broader inquiry across the whole of the United Kingdom of what do we need to learn if this, God help us, comes back again or something like it.

“Those efforts both in testing and infection control are driven by the directions of public health directors.”

Scotland’s First Minister added: “The situation in care homes not just in Scotland but UK wide and globally has been one of the most distressing factors of a very distressing situation.”

The SNP leader insisted she is “anxious” to make the right decision for Scotland and its residents to clamp down on the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking at her daily press briefing on Tuesday, Ms Sturgeon said: “I think everybody should take it as read that on a daily basis I question the decisions we are taking and give a lot of thought to the decision we take.

“I am anxious that we get those decisions as right as possible.

“I don’t have the benefit of 2020 hindsight and I reflect that in the last few days alone I have been asked to comment on experts’ opinions at opposite ends of the spectrum.

It’s been a great year for video games.

Open-world adventure games continue to dominate the mainstream market, but an increasingly diverse audience has brought fresh demand for games with engaging narratives and innovation for classic genres. Coupled with ever-improving technology and developing platforms like virtual reality, 2018 had no shortage of memorable releases.

Without further ado, here are the 18 can’t-miss games released during 2018:

“Monster Hunter World” (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)

“Monster Hunter” may not be a household name like “Super Mario” or “Tomb Raider,” but the action role-playing series is one of the most popular video game franchises in Japan and has garnered a healthy fanbase around the world.

Though the series has typically been developed for handheld gaming systems, “Monster Hunter World” is the first “Monster Hunter” game in nearly 10 years made for home consoles. The result is a remarkably beautiful adventure that asks players to stand in awe of nature, even as they attempt to tame massive dragons and wild creatures.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man” is one the year’s most popular games, and rightfully so. The PlayStation 4 exclusive takes cues from open-world action games like “Batman Arkham Knight” and “Shadow of Mordor” but introduces a new version of Spider-Man alongside a nearly picture-perfect rendering of Manhattan.

With a compelling original story that blends action and humor, “Marvel’s Spider-Man” is a love letter to the character’s legions of fans worldwide.

“Dragon Ball FighterZ” (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC)

“Dragon Ball FighterZ”/Bandai Namco Entertainment

There have been plenty of Dragon Ball Z fighting games over the years, but the series has never looked better than it does with Arc System Works’ custom cell-shaded graphics. Underneath the anime aesthetics, the game is still a masterfully crafted fighter, featuring team-based gameplay inspired by “Marvel vs Capcom” and implementing mechanics from other Arc Sys games like “Guilty Gear” and “BlazBlue.”

The researchers published their findings in the latest issue of the journal ‘Nature Astronomy’. ‘God of chaos’ is part of a two-star system named after the Egyptian serpentine Apep.

Apep comprises of two hot, luminous stars which orbit each other every hundred years or so. Scientists say one of the stars has the perfect conditions to create a gamma-ray burst which has the potential to strip Earth’s ozone from the atmosphere, drastically increasing our exposure to UV light from the sun.

Fortunately, the star doesn’t appear to be aimed at Earth, however researchers say they “can’t be certain what the future has in store” for Apep.

“The system might slow down enough so it explodes as a normal supernova rather than a gamma-ray burst. However, in the meantime, it is providing astronomers a ringside seat into beautiful and dangerous physics that we have not seen before in our galaxy,” said leader of the research group Professor Peter Tuthill.

The study was conducted using the Anglo-Australian Telescope, and the Very Large Telescope in the Atacama Desert, Chile, with the help of researchers at the University of Edinburgh, University of Sheffield and the University of New South Wales.

Duterte said that when he asked for the favor, God replied: “I can, I can.”

Duterte launched a brutal war on drugs after taking office two years ago, with more than 12,000 believed to have been killed by police or “unidentified gunmen” since then, according to Human Rights Watch.

Expanding on his theological ruminations, Duterte added that “my God is not your God. I believe in a universal being,” and “reserve the hottest place in hell for me and may I burn in eternity, if there is hell.”

The president has a colorful history of impious outbursts, once even calling the Christian God “stupid.” Last month Duterte even promised to resign immediately if anyone could prove that God exists. Despite vowing that he wouldn’t apologize “in a million years,” Duterte later said he was sorry for speaking ill of the Lord, after mass uproar over his comments spread through the predominantly Catholic country.

However a source inside the department said they have not yet received “a formal request” to assist the civilian authorities, according to the Sunday Times.

An unnamed minister downplayed the alarmist nature of the news to the paper, saying that the government was “just being realistic” about the potential pitfalls of a no-deal, adding that the army would only be called in if blockages at ports were preventing the supply of food, fuel, and medicines from entering the country.

“There is a lot of civil contingency planning around the prospect of no deal. That’s not frightening the horses, that’s just being utterly realistic,” they told the Times report.

Without securing a new Free Trade Agreement with the EU, a no-deal, the UK would revert to World Trade Organization rules resulting in the imposing of tariffs on goods that the UK sends to the EU, and on goods the EU sends to the UK.

This lack of “frictionless trade” could see a 10-mile-long motorway in south-east England turned into a “holding area” for goods vehicles, as up to 10,000 trucks a day would suddenly require customs checks to enter the EU, according to the Financial Times.

The pro-EU Labour MP David Lammy took aim at the news on Twitter saying: “God, help us. This is not coming from Remainers. This is not project fear. Pro-Brexit Ministers are drawing up blueprints for the army to deliver food, fuel and medicine if we leave the EU with no deal.”

“We have a duty to prevent this self-immolation,” he added.

However, the former Brexit secretary David Davis, who resigned from the position earlier this month over his dissatisfaction with a possible soft Brexit deal, dismissed the story as an attempt to scare people in order to secure a Free Trade Agreement “which will tank the economy.”

Talk of shortages of food and medicines in the wake of a possible no-deal has come to the fore recently, with NHS bosses planning to stockpile key drugs and blood supplies in the event the service has to go on a permanent winter-crisis footing.

Supermarkets, meanwhile have told suppliers to make plans for a no-deal which could see them stockpile goods such a tea and coffee for periods much longer than normal.

More video games are getting photo modes these days, but none have likely deserved it more than the recently-released God of War. The fourth game in the franchise is gorgeous, and wherever you land on its story or mechanics, the AAA polish resulted in a beautiful, high-resolution world. With the game’s new photo mode, you can capture moments with plenty of customizable features to get just the right stylized or hyper-realistic look.

Santa Monica Studio has given players a wide array of options, from field of view and focal length tweaking to borders and filters. You can also selectively toggle the visibility of all characters in the scene to highlight some and subdue others. Best of all, you can change Kratos and his young son Atreus’ facial expressions.

Photo mode comes in patch 1.20, which also adds something else fans have been clamoring for since the game came out: Increasing the size of all the text in the game to make it more readable. The developers also introduced an accessibility setting enabling players to remap Rage Mode. And while the environments might not be as, er, historically representative compared to Assassin’s Creed: Origins, we can always dream of an educational mode coming to the game…
