The French don’t like speaking in foreign languages, but the host of a popular comedy show remembered his English lessons and pulled no punches in the telling US President Donald Trump that he wasn’t welcome in Paris. The ‘Quotidien’ (Daily) program aired on TMC channel ahead of Trump’s arrival to France for the Saturday’s 100th anniversary since the armistice of World War I. The host, Yann Barthes, began his show in French, but then switched to English so that the US President, whom he claimed could’ve been among the viewers, would understand him. “Hey, hello there! Welcome to TMC Channel. My name is… Sean,” Barthes said and then introduced all of his co-hosts using fake Americanized names like “Ashley,” “Clarissa” and “Hot Bunny.” “We all work for the porn industry here in France. You came to the right place because we like your style from the beginning,” he said, with the remark followed by a montage of exclamations and other unintelligible noises taken from the Trump’s public speeches. After that, Barthes instructed Trump on how to find Fox News on TV at his Paris hotel. But he then suddenly switched his tone, saying: “Oh, and one last thing. Go and f*** yourself. You’re not welcome in this country.” The crowd in the studio erupted in laughter and applause. Like this story? Share it with a friend!
Concerns voiced by top Russian officials about the ongoing church row in Ukraine are proof that the institution should not be in the country at all, according to Poroshenko.
“Is it normal when the Kremlin urgently gathers the Security Council, presided over by Putin, with the only issue on the table: How to protect the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine?” Poroshenko said on Tuesday. He added that “your church, your troops, your armaments” have no business in Ukraine, and urged them to “go home, back to Russia.”
He also urged the “Ukrainian hierarchs” to hurry up and hold a “unification council” which could lead to receiving the much-awaited autocephaly.
“Ukraine waited for it for the long 1030 years straight after the baptism,” he claimed. The 988 baptism of land, which was back then called Rus’, led to the creation of the Russian Metropolis which later evolved into the Patriarchate, while the very term ‘Ukraine’ did not exist back then.
The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, however, has already refused to take part in such a “unification” gathering. Ukraine hosts three Orthodox Churches, yet only one of them – the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate – is recognized by other Churches.
Most Ukrainian clerics recognize its authority, while the government openly endorses one of the schismatic churches – the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate. It broke away in the 1990s and boasts its own self-proclaimed ‘patriarch’.
Poroshenko’s statements drew the ire of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which accused the top official of effectively violating the constitution of his own country.
“It’s a completely absurd, ridiculous statement. The Constitution of Ukraine guarantees the protection of the Church, especially this one, which was born on the territory of modern Ukraine, existed there for 1,000 years, and tutored our people,” the press service of the institution said, adding that the Church itself blessed the creation of the independent Ukrainian state back in 1991.
The Orthodox Church has faced a major crisis recently, as the Constantinople Patriarchy moved towards recognition of the independence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is a constituent part of the Russian Orthodox Church. Constantinople decided to send its exarchs to Kiev, interfering in the affairs of another Church – which is forbidden – and triggering a bitter row with the Moscow Patriarchate.
The situation in Ukraine is becoming more and more explosive, as it’s being deliberately pushed towards conflict, the director of the ‘Orthodoxy and the World’ web portal, Protoiereus Alexander Ilyashenko, believes.
“I feel that the whole situation is being pushed into the abyss,” Ilyashenko told RT.
The drive of the Ukrainian authorities for autocephaly will not likely be supported by any other Orthodox churches, since it might easily trigger a chain reaction, he warned. Yet, the words of the clergy seem to mean little to Poroshenko and his advisers.
“It’s a precedent case. One would be able to sow the same discord in other churches, in other countries – in Serbia, in Georgia, Romania – anywhere. There are disgruntled people everywhere,” Ilyashenko said.
“There are people who are dissatisfied with the status quo everywhere. They can be encouraged and pushed towards rash moves anywhere. In any country such events are possible.”

“The United States’ Ambassador to Estonia, Jim Melville, announced his intent to retire from the Foreign Service, effective July 29, after 33 years of public service,” a State Department spokesperson confirmed, after it was reported that the career diplomat had sent out a private Facebook message notifying his friends of his decision to quit.
Apparently, American values under the new administration are no longer compatible with his “Foreign Service Officer’s DNA,” Melville said, explaining that he disagrees with Trump’s view of NATO and transatlantic relations with the EU.
The diplomat’s decision follows a series of statements by the US president at the G7 summit in Quebec, in which he complained that Washington has become a “piggy bank that everyone keeps robbing.” The US leader also wasn’t shy from thrashing NATO, reportedly claiming that the military alliance was “as bad as NAFTA,” the North American Free Trade Agreement that he has vowed to renegotiate.
“For the President to say the EU was ‘set up to take advantage of the United States, to attack our piggy bank,’ or that ‘NATO is as bad as NAFTA’ is not only factually wrong, but proves to me that it’s time to go,” Melville said, in a private message seen by Foreign Policy Magazine.
Melville’s retirement announcement comes less than two weeks before the NATO summit convenes on July 11 in Brussels. At the meeting, Trump is widely expected to once again demand greater contributions from other member states of the alliance. “Germany has to spend more money. Spain, France. It’s not fair what they’ve done to the United States,” Trump told reporters on Friday, aboard Air Force One, reiterating his demands for a two percent contribution of a nation’s overall GDP to NATO.
Melville is not the first member of the American diplomatic community to have quit his job over Trump’s administration policies. Acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton has also reportedly decided to leave her job on Friday, CNN reports, citing two State Department officials.
‘Not the language used’: Trump after reports of ‘s***hole’ countries remark about African nations
The US ambassador to Panama, John Feeley, was also forced to resign in January this year, after Trump described Haiti and African countries as a “sh*thole.”
Elizabeth Shackelford, a member of the diplomatic corps in Africa, was another senior member of the Foreign Service community to announce her departure in November, citing the administration’s failure to promote US interests overseas.

In many ways, Square Enix’ Go titles were textbook examples of how to make good mobile games: for a little cash up front, you’d receive a truly mobile-friendly experience that felt like it received just as much attention as a blockbuster console release. However, that strategy has apparently run out of steam. Square Enix Montreal head Patrick Naud told PCGamesInsider.biz in an interview that his studio has stopped working on the Go series. The premium mobile game market is “diminishing,” Naud said — there are too many genuinely high-quality free games for many people to pour money into games unless they’re riveted by the concept. While Hitman Go, Lara Croft Go and Deus Ex Go had strong reviews and “great revenue,” only a small number of people played them.
This doesn’t mean the Montreal outfit has given up on mobile games. However, Naud wanted the studio to push for more innovative experiences. If it worked on a familiar property, it would have to “somewhat reinvent” the game mechanics.
It’s not hard to see why Square Enix would back away from what seemed like a surefire recipe for success. When a free release like Fortnite provides a deep, polished experience and rakes in massive profits, it’s hard to justify charging money no matter how good the gameplay may be. Free-to-play gaming has evolved to the point where it’s frequently just as good as the paid games, and mobile developers might not have much choice but to adapt.

]]>The Philippines will go to war to protect its rights in the South China Sea, Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano noted, somewhat contradicting President Rodrigo Duterte’s policy of avoiding any confrontation with their neighbor.
“If anyone gets the natural resources in the West Philippine Sea, he [Duterte] will go to war,” Cayetano said on Monday.
“He said, ‘Bahala na.’ (meaning come what may) [But] he will go to war,” Cayetano repeated, outlining ‘red lines’ amid a simmering territorial dispute with Beijing, which continues to ignore the 2016 international arbitration ruling that said “there was no legal basis” for China to claim historic rights in the South China Sea.
Manila’s red lines include any Chinese construction at the Scarborough Shoal or any effort to remove a dilapidated Philippine warship, the BRP Sierra Madre, from Second Thomas Shoal in the disputed Spratly Islands. “Another red line is that nobody will get natural resources there on their own,” Cayetano added.
“Our soldiers should not be harassed when they deliver supplies or when they repair the runways” on Spratly’s Thitu Island, the largest of the Philippine-administered territories in the disputed region, he added. Last year, the island became the scene of a stand-off between Chinese and Philippine vessels when a Chinese fleet blocked a Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources ship from approaching the area.
At the same time, the chief diplomat challenged all critics of the government’s allegedly weak policy to provide a single example of when the Philippines lost sovereignty over even a single inch of its territory to China. “If we lost a single island during Duterte’s time, I will pack my bags, go home,” Cayetano stated.
After becoming president nearly two years ago, President Rodrigo Duterte has made every effort to seek rapprochement and cooperation with China, and he has refused to firmly enforce the 2016 Hague tribunal ruling, despite strong domestic criticism over the country’s South China Sea policy. On a number of occasions, Duterte has openly explained that a military conflict with China would be suicidal for his country.
‘Chinese province of the Philippines?’ Duterte says Beijing’s military bases only threaten the US
“If we go to a full-blown war, where would the Philippines end up? Why would I give away the lives of my soldiers and policemen in a battle which I cannot win?” Duterte said earlier this month.
Instead of a confrontation, Duterte advocates a joint exploration of the natural resources with the Chinese. “China and the Philippines should continue to properly address the South China Sea issue and explore cooperation in joint exploitation and development at an appropriate time, making the South China Sea a sea of cooperation and friendship,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated last month after Duterte met with Xi Jinping in Beijing.

On Sunday, former State Department senior adviser of strategic communications, Marie Harf, told Fox News that Clinton should “take a very long vacation and leave the future of the party to other people.”
Harf’s comments came after Clinton recently said female voters were to blame for her 2016 defeat to President Donald Trump. While on a tour of India to promote her new book ‘What happened?’ last week, Clinton said women voted against her due to “a sort of ongoing pressure to vote the way that your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should.”
“Is that kind of a curious analysis from a feminist?” Fox News host Chris Wallace asked Harf, who advised Kerry on the Iran nuclear deal negotiations strategy.
“Yes, you’re right. And she should go away,” she responded, despite Clinton’s “historical role” as being the first female candidate to be nominated by a major party in a US presidential election.
“She is not helping the Democratic Party,” Harf added. “And I think she should take a very long vacation and leave the future of the party to other people.”
“I think the future of the party is not with her,” Harf said, citing other Democratic candidates who have had a far better showing so far. On average other candidates have been 24 points higher in the 20 special elections of 2018. “The party of the future is not Hillary Clinton’s party.”
“I’m not going to psychoanalyze why she keeps giving excuses for it,” Harf said of Trump’s victory, which she said even surprised Republicans. “But it’s not what Mitt Romney did. It’s not what John Kerry did. It’s not what Al Gore did.”
“And if your goal is to help the party and help us understand how to get white working class men and women back in the Midwest, this is not helpful to that cause.”
Clinton famously alienated white working-class voters in a September 9, 2016, speech at an LGBT fundraiser in New York.
“To just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables,” she said, calling them “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it.”
After her defeat, Clinton released a book titled, ‘What happened,’ in which she lists everything and everyone she believed to be responsible for her failure: from the FBI investigation into her use of a private email server for State Secretary correspondence, her main Democratic rival Bernie Sanders, to, of course, the supposed “Russian meddling” that Democrats in the House and the Senate are now relentlessly trying to link to Trump’s victory.

“As for crimes, go back to Raqqa and at least bury the dead bodies, which are still lying amid the ruins after the air strikes on residential neighborhoods – and investigate these attacks,” the Russian leader said as he sat down for an “at times combative” interview with NBC’s Megyn Kelly. Putin also raised the point that the battle for Iraq’s Mosul involving the US-led forces left the city “razed to the ground.”
The interview heated up when the two were speaking about Syria, when the anchor asked about alleged chemical attacks, for which the West blames the Syrian government. Those claims were rebuffed as “fake news” by the Russian leader. Putin stressed that Damascus destroyed its stockpile of chemical weapons long ago, and the militants aimed “to simulate chemical attacks” which were then blamed on the Syrian army.
“All the attempts that have been made repeatedly in the recent past, and all the accusations were used to consolidate the efforts against Assad,” Putin told the journalist. As Kelly continued to ask about alleged chemical attacks that led to civilian deaths, Putin noted that there had been no thorough investigation into what had happened in Syria.
“Russia is for a full-scale investigation. If you do not know this, I am telling you this now. It is not true that we are against an objective investigation. That is a lie.”

Alex Garland only has two feature films under his belt as a director, but he’s quickly become one of the most exciting science-fiction filmmakers working today. And with early buzz for his upcoming film Annihilation suggesting that his directorial debut Ex Machina was no fluke, all eyes are on what Garland will do next.
It turns out, he’ll be doing much of the same — but this time, it’s on TV.
Garland appears to operate by the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy. The filmmaker rose to fame as the screenwriter of several acclaimed sci-fi films, including 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and Never Let Me Go, before making the leap to the director’s chair with Ex Machina in 2015. Not content with a straightforward sci-fi thriller, Garland’s stories more often veer toward cerebral and challenging.
Now, Garland is planning to bring that fixation on the humanistic side of sci-fi to TV. Garland will be creating an eight-part sci-fi TV series for FX, Garland revealed to Fandango:
“The next project, provided it happens – hopefully we’re gonna shoot it later this year – [and it’s] an eight-part television series for FX. It’s a sort of science fiction, but it’s a much more technology based sci fi whereas Annihilation is a more hallucinogenic form of sci fi and more fantastical form of sci fi.
This is slightly more in common with projects I’ve worked on like Ex Machina or Never Let Me Go, which are taking something about our world now – not our world in the future, but our world as it is right now – and then drawing sort of inferences and conclusions from it.”
In 2017, Garland signed a deal with FX to create new television projects. This untitled eight-part series will be his first collaboration with the network.
Garland didn’t offer any more details about the project, but he did tell Fandango, “It’s already written [and] my plan at the moment is to direct the eight episodes, but for practical reasons that might not be possible.”
At first glance, Ex Machina and Never Let Me Go don’t have too much in common. Ex Machina is a cold, chilling sci-fi thriller that blurs the line between humanity and artificial intelligence. Never Let Me Go is a distressing coming-of-age film about clones whose sole reasons for existence are as expendable organ donors. But they deal with a similar question: What does it mean to be human?
It’s an intriguing premise for a sci-fi series, especially for a network that doesn’t shy away from ambitious, boundary-pushing series. FX has arguably the best current slate of TV shows on cable TV, ranging from trippy superhero series like Legion, surreal comedies like Atlanta, and powerful character vehicles like Fargo. An Alex Garland sci-fi series exploring the meaning of humanity is a perfect match with the network.

Who would have thought it – a spin-off sequel to a much loved Robin Williams movie, without the original star, has been a huge hit.
Jumanji: Wecome to the Jungle currently has a world wide gross of $ 772 million on a $ 90 million budget.
Not only that, but the action comedy managed to top Star Wars: The Last Jedi and becoming No 1 at the US box office – a position the film has held for the last three weeks.
However not every was happy with the film, with one movie fan directing a particular annoyance at one of the film’s stars, The Rock.
The Twitter user wrote to The Rock: “I went to see the new Jumanji. F*** THE NEW JUMANJI.”
“Here’s a spoiler. There is no way a character in a video game would lose a life, then be respawned still in possession of the item required to win.
“That’s some bulls***. What say you @TheRock? Otherwise it was quite good.
However Johnson replied with quite the smackdown, saying: “Actually my friend, in the JUMANJI Lore Handbook, it clearly states in article 72 of section 7, that “any character who loses a life, shall return to their original state with any item they possessed at the time of their demise”. So kindly go f*** yourself James.”
Meanwhile The Rock has spoken out after inspiring a musical stage show in London.
Johnson reacted on Twitter: “Ah a musical inspired by yours truly. Cool.. who’s hitting the high notes?
“Read the premiere. Entertaining, with a strong 18yr old female voice. I love it! Break a leg and I’m there in spirit! #ThePeoplesRock @VAULTFestival.”
