This post contains spoilers for the finale of GLOW Season 3. What do you get the gorgeous lady of wrestling who’s got it all? That’s the question at hand in GLOW‘s Season 3 finale, which chronicles the women’s final show before they all leave Vegas for Christmas break. Read on for a recap of “A Very GLOW Christmas.” DECK THE (CASINO) HALLS | No one is more into the festivities than Carmen, who organizes a Secret Santa for her co-workers. “I just really, really love Christmas,” she chrips in the dressing room, uncaring that none of her friends seem very excited by the holiday. To be fair, many of them still are processing their experience of the hate crime at the Libertine Ball — though, as Yolanda sharply points out, it was a whole lot scarier for those who identify as members of the targeted community. To boost spirits, Carmen approaches Ruth about doing Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol as the last show of the year. But Ruth, still smarting from losing the part in Justine’s movie and what happened with Sam afterward, isn’t into the idea. Carmen is undeterred. “You picked me for your secret Santa, right?” she says. “Well, this is what I want for Christmas.” LESS THAN GLEE-SOME THREESOME | Bash and Rhonda aren’t doing well in the aftermath of their evening with Paul. Bash sees him at the lobby bar and demands that Sandy fire “Joe” from the maintenance staff; she’s the one who calmly informs him that Paul is actually a gigolo. Meanwhile, Debbie and J.J.’s seemingly perfect relationship sours when she dares to offer him some advice on a business situation. Her insight is keen — she thinks he’s undervaluing the TV station he wants to buy, which is why the current owner is dragging his heels on the sale — but his irritation regarding her input is a red flag. “You’re my girlfriend, not my partner,” he says firmly. The night of GLOW’s last show, Bash is supposed to play Liberty Belle’s son. But he’s nowhere to be seen backstage, so she goes up to the penthouse — in her White Christmas-inspired costume, which is amazing — and finds him so very drunk, and therefore confessional. He starts talking about the threesome, saying that the worst part was that he really liked being with Paul. “I liked it so much. And she watched me like it. I’ll do it again. I know I’ll do it again if we stay here,” he laments. He’s incredibly upset, and Debbie instantly switches from ticked off to sympathetic. “Look at Liberace. He’s probably slept with more valets than I have, and he seems to be doing OK,” she says in an attempt at comfort. But Bash says he just wants to die, then falls into her lap, sobbing and asking her to tell him what to do. Suddenly, Debbie has a flash of inspiration and announces that Bash should make an offer on the network that J.J. is trying to buy. (Side note: Chris Lowell is really great in this scene. Like, really great.) During their conversation afterward, it’s clear that Mr. and Mrs. Bang still love each other very much, but their difference of opinion about having kids hasn’t gone away. Keith says that he’s talked with a woman about adoption — which would allow Cherry to keep working (he’d be a stay-at-home dad) and wouldn’t involve her having to bounce back from a pregnancy physically — but the look on her face when he mentions it is ambiguous. The women trade their Secret Santa gifts, a time Arthie uses as a platform to announce something she’s been wrestling (pardon the pun) with all season. “I’m gay,” she tells her friends… who are like, duh. But the fact that she is owning the label is huge, and Yolanda seems to appreciate the gesture. How fitting, then, that her gift is a rainbow headband from Stacey? ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL? | While his lawyers work to finalize the deal, Bash tries to stop Rhonda when she wants to talk about their menage a trois. But she’s adamant that they discuss it. She apologizes for setting up the ruse with Paul, saying, “I don’t want to be the kind of person who needs to trick people, ever.” He answers that he wants her — and only her — and that he wants them to move back to Los Angeles. They kiss, then he drops a bomb: “I want us to start a family.” Rhonda, understandable, looks puzzled. Downstairs, Sandy sadly informs Bob that the Rhapsody show will close in two weeks, because Bash has pulled out his money. In California, Justine and Sam have breakfast at a diner and exchange Christmas gifts. She gives him a shirt he can wear while directing her movie. And he gives her a manilla envelope with some papers in it. “You want to adopt me?” she says after opening it. He explains that he wants her to have a legal claim to “all the good s–t when I die, which might be sooner than we think.” (Side note: Remember how Sam had a heart attack and now I’m 50 percent more scared for him in any given scene? Good times.) She’s touched. She immediately signs them, which makes Sam very happy. RETURNED GIFTS | The women all head to the airport to go home. That’s where Carmen tells Ruth and Debbie that she’s not coming back in the new year: She misses wrestling, so she’s going to join Kurt and do it with him. “I didn’t tell the girls because I didn’t want to ruin Christmas,” she says sadly, and she can’t be talked out of her decision. Then Ruth realizes that her plane is boarding, so she runs to the gate, but Debbie chases after her because she just can’t keep the news inside for a minute more. “Bash is buying a TV network and I’m going to be the president!” she blurts out. “And we’re going to program a new wrestling show with new characters, because we have no legal rights to the old ones, and I want you to direct it.” Ruth is surprised. “I’m going to build us an Eden, where we run the show, you and me,” Debbie says, waiting for her friend to get excited. It doesn’t happen. Ruth points out that she still wants to be an actress. “If being an actor was going to happen for you, it would’ve happened by now. How many times are you going to break your own heart?” Debbie reasons, adding that she’s building both of them an off-ramp from the insane highway of showbiz. She means well, but ouch. “I don’t want an off-ramp. I never even got on the road,” Ruth says. “I don’t want what you want.” Debbie’s frustration reaches its peak as Ruth starts to walk down the jetway. “I don’t understand you,” Debbie says. “Yes, you do. Probably better than anyone,” Ruth replies. Then she gets on the plane, Debbie sputters at the gate, and we end this season with GLOW‘s central pair once more at odds. Now it’s your turn. Netflix only released Glow season three yesterday (Friday, August 9), but fans are already wondering whether there will be another series of Glow. Glow season four could be coming soon to Netflix if the ending of the current series is anything to be believed. The Glow season four release date is expected to air in August or September 2020 if Netflix commission another season. So far, Netflix has not announced the future of Glow, so we do not know whether there will be another series. Last year, Glow season three was commissioned around two months after season two was released by Netflix. As such, we should know about Glow season four by autumn 2019. Express.co.uk will update this article when Netflix confirms there will be more Glow. READ MORE: Glow season 3 Netflix release date: When does it start? The release date of Glow season four is not known yet, but we can take a good guess at when it will be. Glow seasons one and two aired in June, while season three was released in full in August. As such, Glow season four is likely to be released in either August or September 2020. Like the previous three seasons, Glow is expected to have 10 episodes. READ MORE: Glow season 3 cast: Who is in the cast? WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Glow season 3 Though most of the Glow cast is expected to return for more, a number of cast members seemed to leave in the current series. Carmen (played by Britney Young), for example, left the Glow cast to tour with her wrestling brothers, while Ruth (Alison Brie) may be leaving the show to focus on her acting career. Debbie (Betty Gilpin) is likely to take a wider role in Glow season four after she and Bash (Chris Lowell) bought a television network. Other characters like Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), Rhonda Howard (Kate Nash) and Cherry Bang (Sydelle Noel) are also expected to return. READ MORE: GLOW season 3 Netflix release date, cast, trailer, plot At the end of Glow season three, none of the cast know about Debbie and Bash’s new project, which means that season four could feel more like an ensemble piece as we follow the different paths each girl has taken. For example, some of the plot threads left dangling at the end of the current season include Cherry possibly adopting a child and Arthie (Sunita Mani) embracing her life as a lesbian. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Glow co-showrunner Carly Mensch: “This is the first time that we’ve let a character achieve something this close to what they want, and what that means and where that leads, we won’t spoil. “But there’s something very game-changing about letting a character get something this big, and at what expense. “We end in a way that suggests she’s going there without Ruth, so what that means, we’ll have to see.” Glow seasons 1-3 are streaming on Netflix now This article contains affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission on any sales of products or services we write about. MAY YOUR DAYS BE MERRY AND BRIGHT | The women perform their Christmas Carol-themed match, with Zoya in the Ebenezer Scrooge role. It’s a hit with the crowd. The night ends with everyone in the ring, singing “White Christmas,” then Keith busts into the room dressed as Santa. “I was your Secret Santa. I figured this is what you wanted,” Carmen says to a shocked Cherry. Cherry runs to her husband and kisses him, crying.

‘MY COSTUME STILL SMELLS LIKE BEER AND RACISM’ | As the episode began, Debbie was attempting to explain to the drycleaner why it was such a big effing deal if her costume had been lost. She’d be like Clark Kent going to work without his cape, she said. Luckily, her costume had just been mixed in with Mark’s pickup. Well, they’d need to establish separate accounts immediately. “And I’m not paying for his suits,” she added. Meanwhile, in the gym’s parking lot, Sam was gearing up for his — and everyone’s — first day back at work post-break by making it snow in reverse right up his nose. When Ruth saw him, she cheerfully proffered a tiny bottle of vodka in character. “Is classic start gift,” she said as Zoya. And she was so full of enthusiasm that, of course, the grouch had to stomp it out of her. He was slightly freaking because he was about to work on the show for the next 20 weeks, and he hadn’t known what he was going to be doing for 20 weeks in a row since he was in college. So “don’t pep-talk me,” he grumbled. Undaunted, Ruth volunteered to be the Alma to his Hitch — in other words, Mrs. Hitchcock, the great woman behind the great director. Any way she could, she’d help him. “Well,” he replied, “you’ve helped me to want to get the f— out of this car.” Oh, Sam.
Inside, the cast discovered that their costumes hadn’t been washed over the break. (Eesh.) And also, Yolanda, the Mexican woman that they initially mistook for the wardrobe lady, was replacing Cherry as Junkchain. Don’t give your old pal a second thought, Sam told his stars, because for sure, “she ain’t thinking about you.” For her part, Melrose was, as you’d expect, excited that the gym was now full of male crew members. And Bash, who’d shown up for work dressed like a James Spader character, was embarrassed to learn that prep day wasn’t short for preppy day. Prompted by Ruth to go over the show’s format for the sake of Yo-Yo, Sam explained that it consisted of: 1. promos in which the wrestlers smack-talked one another, 2. a series of matches, 3. a title match, and 4. a closer in which Liberty Belle vows to reclaim the crown from Welfare Queen. “Every week?” asked Ruth. “It’s not rocket science,” said Sam, who frankly desperately needed an Alma. Finally, he gave them all their contracts. Carmen’s brother’s first agreement was written on a napkin, she offered. So “this is a step up.” While Debbie discreetly snuck her unsigned paperwork into her purse, Ruth informed Sam that the wrestlers had some concerns about the contract. His response: Pretty much, “And… ?” He couldn’t have cared less. But, he told Ruth, “If you wanna be Alma Hitchcock, go make everyone feel special so I don’t have to.”
‘HELLO, YOU BEAUTIFUL STALLION’ | By the time Ruth rejoined her castmates, they were busily throwing side-eye at Yo-Yo, who’d revealed that Sam had offered her her role after she’d given him a lap dance at the club where she strips. But Ruth was sure she knew how to boost morale — by… what? Singing the theme song from The Mary Tyler Moore Show? In fact, she did, but it was only her way of telling the women that they were going to shoot a main-title sequence for the show. When the Cheers theme was mentioned, Vicky the Viking admitted that she’d never seen the hitcom. “It’s about an invisible woman named Vera,” said Sheila, just being the absolute quintessence of Sheila. Only Debbie scoffed at the idea; she couldn’t imagine Sam shooting a title sequence. It’s really happening, Ruth insisted. He’d… uh, put her in charge. Frost rising off of her, Debbie wished Ruth good luck, but she was headed to the mall to buy more shimmer tights. Great idea! Ruth decided. They’d all go. She grabbed Russell, the cameraman with a past in porn, and off they headed to a galleria that wasn’t gonna know what hit it!
At the shopping center, Ruth kicked as much ass as she does in the ring, setting up fun shots, raising morale to unheard-of highs and even being forward-thinking enough to get talent waivers from passersby who wound up being used as extras. “It’s a lot more fun when you direct,” Reggie (aka Vicky the Viking) told her at the end of the shoot. Just don’t tell Sam that, Ruth shrewdly replied. Even Russell admitted, “We shot some rad stuff today” and said Ruth had a “decent eye.” As he was asking her back to his place to, ahem, review the footage, Debbie intervened, offering her former pal a lift. While all that was going on, back on set, Florian arrived with a wardrobe change for Bash and sweetly assured him that now he looked like “a real Hollywood producer.” Just then, K-DTV boss man Glen showed up unexpectedly with Rick Hollander, the director of the network’s longest-running show Quilting Bee Easy, to introduce him to Sam, aka the new kid on the block. “Oh,” grumbled Sam, “well, I’ve been around all the blocks.” When Glen and Rick moved off, Sam hit the roof that Glen had brought another director to his set, prompting Bash to express his relief that he hadn’t replaced him like Glen had wanted. The idea, Bash said — “a guy who wears a turtleneck” directing GLOW!
‘IT IS A MIRACLE WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH WHEN YOU FORCE PEOPLE TO WORK OVERTIME’ | On the awkwardest ride home ever, Debbie suggested to Ruth that Russell was a sleaze. And no, she didn’t give a damn whether or whom Ruth dated. But, Debbie continued, “That guy’s a creep… and I don’t need you to f— up group morale by getting date-raped.” Did I mention that this was the awkwardest ride home ever? Ruth attempted to break the tension by saying that she’d wanted to call Debbie over their hiatus. “I really missed acting with you,” she admitted, recalling their days in scene-study class. In response, Debbie, threatening to cry off her glitter makeup, announced, “I’m getting a divorce.” Nonetheless, Mark was by her side that evening when she had dinner with Glen and his wife Jodi. As a former soap star, Debbie felt that she was worth more than the rest of the GLOW cast. So she had some ideas for addenda to her contract. Meanwhile, Sam returned home to find Justine working on merch for Billy’s band, S—pope and wondered aloud when she’d be heading back to Sacramento. He said she could stay, she pointed out. “‘Stay,’” he retorted, “implies a short time.” But it was clear that they had years’ worth of daddy issues (or daughter issues) yet to be worked out or even, for that matter, discussed.
By the following day, the gym had been transformed into a pretty impressive replica of the Hayworth Hotel, and the cast was in high spirits. Unfortunately, Glen showed up with Debbie just as they were about to show Sam their credits sequence (which Russell had edited overnight). Though nervous, Ruth pressed PLAY, and whew — the wrestlers loved it, and so did Glen. He even called it a romp! The one person who didn’t love it? Three guesses, and if they don’t all rhyme with “damn,” you’re wrong. “Who here is confused about who the director is?” asked Sam. Russell attempted to take the fall for Ruth, but she immediately admitted that shooting the opening had been her idea. When not outright insulting her work — which was, in fact, a romp! — Sam groused that he’d never put his name on something he hadn’t directed. “You put your name on the pilot,” said Reggie, going so far as to remind him that Ruth had saved his ass on it. Smoke coming out of his ears, Sam canned Vicky the Viking on the spot. “If you wanna fire someone, fire me,” Ruth told him later. But was that really what she wanted? Well, no. She just had ideas! He couldn’t talk about it right then even if he’d wanted to, as he was looking over Debbie’s new contract and learning that she wanted to be a producer. “Oh, no,” Debbie clarified. “I am a producer.” With that, she closed his office door, shutting out Ruth and her ideas.
So, what did you think of the Season 2 premiere? Alison Brie warned us that Ruth would have to take a lot of s—t this season, but damn. Grade the episode below, then hit the comments.

Sitting down to review Season 2 of Netflix’s GLOW, I tried to settle on the word that best described it, and “hard” was the one I kept coming back to — and not just because that’s the way the sparkly, spandex-clad Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling go at it in the ring, either. Over and over, the 10 superlative episodes serve up painful reminders that relationships are hard. Platonic, romantic, parental… doesn’t matter; all of ’em can lay you flat as surely as a clothesline.
Most of the emotional smackdowns, as in Season 1, are reserved for castmates Ruth and Debbie, played Alison Brie and Betty Gilpin, contenders for the title of the modern-day Davis and Crawford. Their already-shattered friendship, if you can believe it, actually gets worse before there’s even a hint that it might ever get better. But by Season 2’s conclusion, they’ve had a confrontation that’s so epic, and so long overdue, that it has to have unpacked at least some of their baggage.
Ruth’s toxic relationship with the show-within-the-show’s director Sam (Marc Maron) also delivers blow after blow until, finally, he lets down his gruff guard enough that the unthinkable happens: You feel for him almost as much as you do her. And with surprise daughter Justine (Britt Baron) now crashing at his place, he even gets the hang of fatherhood — in, of course, a uniquely Sam way. (Cue Annabella Sciorra’s entrance as Justine’s mother in 3, 2… )
Of the supporting players, “Welfare Queen” Tammé (Kia Stevens) gets fleshed out the most, in particular during a poignant subplot involving her college-age son. And Sam’s hiring of a new cast member, lesbian stripper Yo-Yo (Shakira Barrera), not only has a surprising effect on one of her co-stars, it sets the stage for what just might be the last thing you’d expect to see happen in the ring — yes, even the GLOW ring!
And did I mention that Season 2 is funny? Because though it’s full of catfights and love triangles worthy of Paradise Cove, it is. Showrunners Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive again manage to zigzag between the lowbrow silliness of the show-within-the-show and the higher-brow hijinks behind the scenes without giving the impression that the series has a split personality. And nobody delivers a cutting zinger like Gilpin; in Debbie’s less sympathetic moments, she’s a glitter-coated razorblade.
Perhaps best of all, since Season 2 is so emotionally brutal, when we get a break that’s not of the heart variety, it doesn’t feel like a present, it feels earned. And while no matter what you might appreciate a moment of relief, of hopefulness, you’ll instead savor it — and cling to it all the way to Season 3 — if it’s a moment hard-won.
THE TVLINE BOTTOM LINE: Season 2 of GLOW is a must-binge. You’ll come away from it feeling like you’ve been elbow-dropped by Machu Picchu… and still wish they’d made twice as many episodes.

The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are back in the GLOW season 2 trailer. Netflix’s comedy series set in the world of 1980s women’s wrestling returns later this month, with a whole new season full of body slams and emotional stakes. Watch the high-energy trailer below.
GLOW is one of Netflix’s best shows for several reasons: the writing is smart and funny, the cast is great, the premise is enjoyable, and, perhaps best of all, the show never overstays its welcome. Many Netflix originals suffer from bloat – I’m looking at you, Netflix’s Marvel shows – but each episode of GLOW runs around thirty minutes, which ultimately works in the show’s favor. Each episode breezes by with little to no narrative excess, and the end result is rewarding.
Now GLOW is coming back with an all-new season, and it looks promising. GLOW tells the story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), “an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling. In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin) a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture perfect life is not what it seems. And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom.”
Season 2 finds the ladies of GLOW dealing with both fame and misfortune as they cope with celebrity status and the looming threat of cancellation. ““We’re doing way bigger moves this season,” co-star Betty Gilpin told Variety. “I in particular do a huge amount of wrestling in season 2 and my joints and muscles and ligaments are squeaking and singing like an old, old woman.”
GLOW season 2 arrives on Netflix on June 29, 2018.
Season 2 follows the women of GLOW as they become local celebrities, confronting the good, the bad, and the ugly realities of their newfound fame. As Ruth and Debbie settle into the day-to-day of making a season of TV together, they confront lingering issues at the heart of their friendship. Sam is still Sam, but now he has a teenage daughter living with him and twenty episodes to churn out. The wrestling is harder, the stakes are higher, and the hair is even bigger.
