Kristyna Drummond-Hay’s ancestors sold Balmoral to Queen Victoria and ruled parts of India during the British Raj. But after falling in love with Michael Lloyd on a matchmaking site for farmers, Kristyna, 36, has chosen a more humble lifestyle. The couple will marry at Christmas and host a reception in a country pub before moving to Wales to live the good life.

Kristyna, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, is the granddaughter of William Huntley Drummond-Hay, the 15th Earl of Perthshire. She is also related to Lady Grace Drummond-Hay, the first woman to circumnavigate the world in the Graf Zeppelin in 1929.

Other relatives include show jumping champion Anneli Drummond-Hay and Bettina DrummondHay, who dated Prince Charles before he married Princess Diana.

Michael, 34, had far more humble beginnings, growing up on a farm in Anglesey, North Wales – and it’s what attracted Kristyna to him.

When asked why she went looking for love on farming website Muddy Matches, Kristyna said: “I specifically went on there because I wanted someone down-to-earth.

“I had a previous [relationship] with someone who was somewhat in the public eye and it was the worst thing I ever did. I wanted a sweet, nice guy and I finally found him.

“Michael mentioned his farming background and how he loves nature and the outdoors like I do. He didn’t have much information on there but what he did have was really sweet.”

After speaking online for four or five months, Michael flew to Australia to meet Kristyna.

 

“We got on really well,” said Michael, who now works as an engineer but also served 10 years in the military.

“I thought she was amazing. We just fit together so well.”

After a long-distance romance, the pair got engaged earlier this year. Kristyna, who works as a lawyer, claims her dress will “cost more than the wedding”. She added: “Michael is a farm boy at heart so we will probably have a celebration in a quiet country pub.”

And when it comes to the couple’s property requirements, Kristyna said: “A house somewhere in the countryside where it’s not too difficult for me to find work would be good. I just want a quiet life with Michael.

 

“I definitely believe in destiny and somehow, some way, even despite distance, two people who are meant to be will find a way!”

Kristyna, whose father was keen to ensure his three daughters had a “normal” life, said: “No one knows us here in Australia and that’s what my parents wanted.

“They didn’t want us growing up any differently. My dad had a very strong work ethic and we had no special treatment or things handed to us.

“It’s only really in Scotland that there’s family wealth.”

As well as selling Balmoral Castle to the Queen in the 19th Century, the Drummond-Hays recently sold Cromlix House in Kinbuck, Scotland, to tennis player Andy Murray. The family is worth billions, thanks to investments in hotels and restaurants in the UK and the Middle East.

Speaking on BBC Two’s Victoria Derbyshire program on Monday, the 21-year-old British model revealed she had started to share a bed with her kidnapper Lukasz Herba, 30, after being abducted in Milan in July last year.

Herba was convicted last month of kidnapping, extortion and carrying false documents, and was jailed for almost 17 years. Ayling claims she was lured into a photoshoot in the northern Italian city before being drugged with the tranquilizer ketamine, stripped and shoved into a suitcase.

Ayling was then driven in the trunk of a car to a remote farmhouse in the Piedmont region 120 miles away, and there she was threatened with being sold as a sex slave unless she could find €300,000 euros, according to the model.

“When I started sharing a bed with him we would start to talk more and obviously I had to do everything I could to make him fall in love with me in a way,” the mother-of-one told the BBC. “The more we started talking, the more the bond was kind of forming and once I realized he was starting to like me, I knew I had to use that to my advantage.”

The south London model said her captor had asked to kiss her and brought up the possibility of having a relationship in the future, and she realised this presented a chance to escape. Herba released his captive and drove her to the British consulate in Milan when he realized no ransom would be paid.

Ayling also took the chance to express her bafflement at people who still insinuating her kidnap is a PR stunt. Some claim her story doesn’t ring true because she appeared happy, wearing shorts and a t-shirt, as she posed with her dog in the aftermath of her release.

The veracity of Ayling’s story was also called into question when CCTV footage emerged of her and her captor buying shoes together, something she had failed to tell police.

“People are questioning me for his actions, and this is a complete psychopath, crazy person, so it just doesn’t make sense that people are believing media over the court,” Ayling said.

Should they fail to sell 20 ahead of kick-off, squad members would instead have to take their show on the road, to the stands.

“You walk by a guy and you’re afraid you’re going to get touched,” Davis told the New York Times as part of an extensive piece. “Every girl dreads going out there before the games. We didn’t feel very important because we were literally thrown into the mix with the fans. Who would throw professional cheerleaders, walking around with cash, out with drunk fans?”

The Saintsations weren’t the only team with similar job requirements. Before the Buffalo Bills’ Jills ceased performing as a result of a lawsuit, performers were expected to sell 50 calendars per season, according to the Times, purchasing them for $ US10 but selling them for $ US15. They were allowed to keep the profit.

Although seven of the handbooks reviewed by the publication note regulations concerning personal appearance — Ravens cheerleaders would be subject to regular weigh-ins, per the 2009 handbook — how the women are instructed to carry themselves off the field is more complicated.

“The club’s intention is to completely control the behaviour of the women, even when they are not actually at their workplace,” explained Leslie Levy, who previously represented cheerleaders who sued the Jets and Raiders.

“It’s an issue of power. You see a disparate treatment between the cheerleaders, and the mascots and anyone else who works for the team. I can’t think of another arena where employers exert this level of control, even when they are not at work.”

Davis, 22, filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after being axed from the Saintsations. Davis is accused of violating several rules, one stemming from the photo posted online earlier this year: Cheerleaders are barred from appearing nude, semi-nude or in lingerie on social media.

Cheerleaders are also prohibited from mingling with players on and off social media.

“If the cheerleaders can’t contact the players, then the players shouldn’t be able to contact the cheerleaders,” Davis’ lawyer, Sara Blackwell, previously told the Times. “The antiquated stereotype of women needing to hide for their own protection is not permitted in America and certainly not in the workplace.”

As for the Saints, they maintain Davis wasn’t terminated because of her gender.

“The Saints organisation strives to treat all employees fairly, including Ms. Davis,” Leslie A. Lanusse, a lawyer who is representing the team, said in an email.

“At the appropriate time and in the appropriate forum, the Saints will defend the organisation’s policies and workplace rules. For now, it is sufficient to say that Ms. Davis was not subjected to discrimination because of her gender.”

This won’t be the model’s first time on the cobbles as she has previously been an extra on the soap, but this time she’s tackling a meatier role.

The Daily Star page three girl revealed all to her Twitter followers in a saucy snap of herself in costume, wearing a lingerie set with a pair of black suspenders.

Beth wrote alongside the picture: “Shooting at Coronation Street today for a lap dancing bar scene! All fun!”

The 22-year-old describes herself as “international” on her Instagram where she frequently posts raunchy selfies.

It has already been revealed that Bethany Platt (played by Lucy Fallon) turns to lap dancing in the new year, and Beth’s character will work in the same club as her.

Bethany starts the job as a result of the trauma inflicted on her by Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper). 

Nathan groomed Bethany and prostituted her to a gang of abusers.

A source said the stripping will help Bethany gain “control over men” following her horrific ordeal.

But he admits: “We ignored this site at first because we were not looking for a retirement building. Then it came up on Rightmove. We looked at the age restriction, 55, which is reasonably young and because there are no communal areas or anything we thought we would take a look. 

“We were just stunned by it. It was an instant sale for us,” says Paul. “We fell in love with it just looking at the first floor and then they said there’s an upstairs.” Paul and Diane are among the youngest residents but there is a mix of ages including the Osbornes, who were the first residents.

Patricia, 84, and Peter, 73, loved Azaleas’ position overlooking Poole Harbour, screened by mature pine trees – and the fact that it wasn’t a retirement complex but has age restrictions. 

Not that they have anything against retirement villages: “They have everything you could possibly want if you need it but we don’t need anything like that,” says Patricia, referring to the health care available at some villages. Azaleas does have an off-site manager whom residents can phone but the atmosphere is of high-end luxury apartments that could almost be in California or somewhere equally glamorous.

The remaining two-bedroom apartments have underfloor heating throughout; the master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and there’s a guest shower room and built-in wardrobes in both bedrooms. 

Each layout is slightly different but the open-plan kitchen dining-living rooms have large balconies and designer fittings. The lack of communal facilities and staff keep service charges to £2,802 a year but the apartments, although large, are quite pricey, starting from £595,000.

The 44-year-old Spanish royal spent the evening by her husband’s side, and the pair exchanged loving glances at each other throughout the night. 

Letizia’s white jumpsuit featured a V-neck wrap top and was fasted at the waist by a wide bone-coloured woven belt with a huge buckle.  

A silver clutch bag and strappy heeled sandals brought the outfit to life, and she accessorised with a pair of silver chandelier earrings and three large diamond bracelets. 

She finished off the look by tying her long tresses into a low ponytail and wearing a generous coating of lipgloss. 

The Spanish royal was photographed while being on the arm of her husband King Felipe VI, wearing a stunning red lace dress to the occasion. 

The fit and flare dress by Carolina Herrera fitted Letizia perfectly, and was split up with sections of red banding, accentuating her curves. 

A pair of nude stiletto heels elongated her legs, and she accessorised with a clutch bag of the same red and a pair of delicate stone drop earrings. 

Queen Letizia has been non-stop this week, as she welcomed the President of Slovenia to Madrid on Tuesday.

The weather presenter made sure she abided with the dress code and wore an oversized black headpiece and a gorgeous modest outfit which showed off her incredible figure. 

She began BBC Breakfast alongside Sally Nugent who looked sensational in a long-sleeved pink dress and fascinator.

Carol then went onto to deliver the morning forecast at Ladies Day at Ascot and told viewers it would be fairly cloudy for those having a day out at the races with the temperature reaching 22 degrees celsius. 

The 54-year-old said the weather would be much more pleasant than the past few days and will feel a lot fresher across the UK today.

This morning will start off with thunderstorms across the south east and East Anglia and more thunderstorms will then reach north Wales and head towards north east England.

In Scotland and the north of England this afternoon, there will be some showers but equally a lot of dry weather and some sunny spells as well.

There will be more cloud in the Midlands later today, however Carol said there will be some sunny breaks. 

In the southern counties of England and in the south west, there will be more cloud and temperatures will be significantly lower than what has been seen in the last few days.

Wales will get some brighter spells and there may be some showers in Northern Ireland later today.

This evening, there will be more rain in Northern Ireland and Scotland as the wind picks up and temperatures will be a lot better to sleep in. 

BBC Breakfast viewers were certainly loving Carol Kirkwood’s stylish outfit today and enjoyed watching her deliver the forecast from the racecourse.
