I gotta be honest, I am not a website article reader that much, I stick with podcasts. My most favorite is when Daily has full crew with 2 of my faves Chris and HT!!   This genius new segment “Life Advice with Chris” is amazing, funny and maybe even helpful, so far it’s a big Maybe :):):) Ok got with that out of the way… Here is my question. I’m an immigrant from a country with a much more relaxed age rating system and I grew up watching hard R even NC-17 rated films such as “shocking asia” at age 12. Hollywood R rated movies were acceptable in our household with no problems.  After coming to US I have encountered this new to me system of age restriction and parental control. To me, at the time it didn’t make much sense and I saw it as a dumb thing. However, time went by and I am a father now, although my child is not yet old enough to watch movies. I have drastically changed my views towards parental control and movie age ratings….  I am definitely not going to show my son a Tinto Brass film at age 10, but I also don’t want to be so strict that not watching some R rated films at a young age can turn him into fragile scaredy cat. Where does Chris stand on this subject and how should I proceed with my dilemma? Should I censor the media for my kid and let him decide later in life if he likes that type of entertainment? Or should I take my own experience as an example and allow him to watch whatever interests him (within moral boundaries) of course.   Thank you in advance. Keep up good work. For Honor Season 3 has been talked about a lot by Ubisoft recently, who have now confirmed some of the new heroes and maps coming to the game later this month.

Season Three has been dubbed “Grudge and Glory” and has a release date set for August 15.

“Grudge and Glory” will bring the largest updates to For Honor to date with the introduction of new heroes, maps, gear, ranked play, as well as important gameplay updates.

As in the past, all maps and For Honor gameplay updates will be free for all players at the start of Season Three. 

The new For Honor heroes will include the “proud Highlander and the deadly Gladiator”, who will be available free for Season Pass holders on August 15.

All other players will be able to unlock them in-game on August 22 for 15,000 Steel. 

The never-ending war between Knights, Vikings and Samurai welcomes two new deadly Heroes into the fray:

Highlander Viking Class – “Stoic and guarded, Highlanders are patient heroes capable of switching between two different fighting forms. Their defensive form allows for counter-attacking and trading blows, while their offensive form empowers them to unleash their deadliest attacks at the expense of being able to block. 

“Wielding the heaviest and longest sword in the game, the Highlander’s massive claymore gives them a deadly combination of strength and range.”

FOR HONOR SEASON THREE HERO GALLERY BELOW:

Gladiator Knight Class – “Wielding a trident and shield, the Gladiator has made a living off of killing for sport, they now bring their ruthlessness and skill to war. 

“Fighters by trade, they are brash and boastful; equipped with little armor, they can punch their opponents to create separation to set up attacks and stuns. 

“Their larger stamina meter and reduced cool down times make them extremely agile and dangerous opponents.”

There will also be two new battlefields: Sentinel and Viking Village, each of which “features a deadly new environmental hazards, including a ballista and barrel, to keep players aware of their surroundings as well as their opponents,” Ubisoft tease.

“There’ll be a whole new legendary gear rarity, too, and the reputation cap for Heroes will be raised to 40, giving players more customization options.

“Finally, Season Three will debut alongside a new title update for For Honor, which will bring several gameplay tweaks and updates, including fighting mechanic adjustments to create better balance between offensive and defensive styles of play.”

FOR HONOR SEASON TRAILER BELOW:

Since its launch, For Honor has had 12 major updates deployed, with Game Director Damien Kieken revealing more how they hope to improve the game’s servers and overall connection issues.

On Dedicated Servers:

DK: “So basically, since we launched the game, we’ve faced new online challenges. We saw that we had connectivity and stability problems, mostly on 4v4 modes, so it’s one of the things we’ve looked at and worked on a lot since the game launched. And during that process, we decided to do an analysis of the whole online infrastructure we have and compare it to other existing ones. And in the end, based on all the data we gathered … we decided to do the move and to migrate to a dedicated server technology, for many, many different reasons.

“One of them, and the main reason for us, is that we want to improve the stability of the matches on 4v4, and we want to have an architecture that is more long-term, that could help us more in the future for the things we want to do next. And then you have some very simple examples; with dedicated servers, you don’t have session host migration anymore, so there is no game pausing when somebody leaves the session. You won’t have to manage your NATs. You don’t have to check your NAT if you want to play with a friend or things like that. So it will also help greatly the overall experience of the player, from matchmaking to the game session itself, to playing with friends, and things like that.

On Server Deployment:

DK: “It’s a big job. I won’t lie to you, it’s a very big change. We often use a metaphor, internally, that we’re changing the engine of a car while it runs. So it’s a lot of work, but it’s work that has already started quite some time ago. But it will take time, and it will go through several steps before we can release it progressively to the players.

On Connections:

DK: “Not all the team has switched to work on dedicated servers, so we have a dedicated team for that that is working inside our online team. And the other part of the online team is still working on improving the current network infrastructure. Like some players have witnessed it with the patches we’ve done.

“We’ve done one patch today to improve stability… we did some improvements also on the patch of last week, we introduced routers for duel tournaments that will ship during Season 3, to also manage the NAT differently. So it’s a constant work we’re still doing and we still do, until the dedicated servers are used in the live environment.”

Ridley Scott knows how to resurrect Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe) for a Gladiator sequel. It’s been 17 years since the somewhat divisive Best Picture winner came out, but Scott still has the desire to bring Maximus back from the dead. Unfortunately, the sequel he envisions today probably isn’t the bonkers Gladiator 2 script Nick Cave wrote.

Below, read Scott’s thoughts on a Gladiator sequel.

After presenting a screening of Alien at the SXSW Film Festival, Entertainment Weekly asked Scott whether a Gladiator 2 was still of interest for him, and how he’d make a sequel about Maximus. His reply:

I know how to bring him back. I was having this talk with the studio — ‘but he’s dead.’ But there is a way of bringing him back. Whether it will happen I don’t know. Gladiator was 2000, so Russell’s changed a little bit. He’s doing something right now but I’m trying to get him back down here.

Crowe doesn’t have any current projects listed publicly, but how and when Scott would even find the time for a Gladiator sequel is another question. The director is already eyeing another Alien sequel next year, and he might even make more sequels afterward if Covenant is a success. That plan could fall through, of course, and free up time for other films, but the prospect of a Gladiator 2 still can’t help but seem unlikely at best.

At one point, screenwriter John Logan was working on a sequel that took place before and after the events of Gladiator. In 2002, Crowe began contemplating Maximus in the afterlife, which is the story he asked to Cave write. The actor wasn’t a fan of the finished script, titled Christ Killer, but Cave certainly made it sound ambitious:

[He] goes to purgatory and is sent down by the gods, who are dying in heaven because there’s this one god, there’s this Christ character, down on Earth who is gaining popularity. And so the many gods are dying, and they send Gladiator back to kill Christ and all his followers…. The main guy was [Maximus’] son, so he has to kill his son and he was tricked by the gods. He becomes this eternal warrior and it ends with this 20 minute war scene which follows all the wars in history, right up to Vietnam and all that sort of stuff. And… it was wild.

Creative differences prevented previous iterations of the Gladiator sequel from gaining momentum. At one point, DreamWorks wanted to show Rome through the eyes of Maximus and Lucilla’s (Connie Nielsen) son. Scott thought that “rambling and complex” story – the road to Rome’s demise – was too detached from Gladiator‘s simplicity.

The Best Picture winner was the first of five collaborations between Crowe and Scott. They last worked together on Robin Hood, which isn’t their finest hour. It’d be great to see them together again, especially for an original movie…or even a Gladiator sequel.
