<p>A young woman struggling to hold it together in small-town America finds herself witness to what may or may not be a murder in the first teaser for <a target="_blank" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Peripheral_(TV_series)" rel="noopener"><em>The Peripheral</em></a>, a new Prime Video series based on William Gibson&#8217;s <a target="_blank" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Peripheral" rel="noopener">2014 novel</a> of the same name.</p>
<p><strong>(Spoilers for the novel below.)</strong></p>
<p>The novel is in many ways vintage Gibson: a bleak, dystopian future world chock-full of big thematic ideas, visionary technology, and its own slang terminology. The reader is plunged into this setting and must acclimate accordingly; Gibson isn&#8217;t interested in presenting everything to us on a silver platter. But that initial effort pays off as the novel evolves into an action-packed cyberpunk thriller.</p>

<p>Back in 2004 The Passion of Christ was made on tiny budget of $  30 million and went on to make over $  600 million worldwide.</p>
<p>Covering the betrayal, trial and crucifixion of Jesus, the movie became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time – a huge feat for a foreign language film.</p>
<p>Now that a sequel focused on the Resurrection has been confirmed, when can a release be expected?</p>
<p>At this stage it’s unknown but Jim Caviezel, who is reprising the role of Jesus, has confirmed shooting dates have been decided.</p>

<p>Nevertheless the actor wouldn’t disclose when, however if they’ve been decided it would make sense that Passion of the Christ 2 could shoot as early as this summer.</p>
<p>That would make a 2019 or 2020 release date, presumably around Easter time, much more likely.</p>
<p>Jim, who is a devout Catholic, has teased what the sequel will be like.</p>
<p>Speaking with USA Today in January, he said: “There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience. It&#8217;s great. Stay tuned.</p>
<p>&#8220;I won’t tell you how he’s going to go about it. But I’ll tell you this much, the film he’s [Gibson] going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good.”</p>
<p>Braveheart, that’s a film that took a long time to be able to crack. The same thing for Passion. And the same thing for this. He’s finally got it. So that is coming.</p>

<p>The biblical biopic tells the story of Mary (Mara), a young woman in search of a new way of living. Constricted by the hierarchies of the day, Mary defies her traditional family to join a new social movement led by the charismatic Jesus of Nazareth (Phoenix).</p>
<p>Monica Bellucci played Mary Magdalene in The Passion of the Christ.</p>
<p>On what attracted her to the part, she said: “”I did all I could to get an audition. People would say to me, &#8216;Nobody will see it, nobody wants to produce or distribute it, it&#8217;ll make no money and it will raise controversy. Why on earth do you want to do it?&#8217;</p>
<p>&#8220;But I wanted to play her because she moves me. She was just a sinner like you and me, her humanity and weakness touched me.</p>
<p>&#8220;She finds spirituality through Jesus; we all must try to find our spiritual side.&#8221;</p>
