Thousands of protesters are descending on Westminster for what organizers claim is the “biggest, loudest and most important” anti-Brexit demo since the vote. They insist Brexit is taking the UK to a “future nobody voted for.”

The participants, mainly young activists, of the so-called “March For the Future” gathered at Park Lane in the British capital at noon. They will march to Parliament Square, where they will hear speeches in support of a people’s vote.

“The Brexit elite can’t sort out this mess – only you can: Demand a people’s vote.” This is the ambitious message conveyed by the People’s Vote campaign group on its website. It insists that Brexit negotiations are taking British people towards “a future that nobody voted for.”

A petition calling for people to be given a final say on a Brexit deal has already gained almost a million signatures.

Labour MP David Lammy took to Twitter to support the demonstrators. “Do not let them tell you it is not possible to stop Brexit. We can do it,” he told his followers. 

According to Labour’s Andrew Adonis, Brexit is “becoming a dog’s dinner.” “It’s a mess that nobody voted for and the reason we’re in such a growing crisis is that those cheerleading for Brexit know the promises they made can never be kept,” he stated. Adonis has already arrived in the center of London to join the rally.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan joined the demonstrators in the heart of the capital. He earlier vowed that the protest would be a “historic moment in [British] democracy.” 

In July this year, Theresa May managed to negotiate the controversial Brexit plan, which is also known as the Chequers deal, during a marathon session of talks with her cabinet. The strategy, which defines the relationship between the UK and EU after Brexit, divided both Westminster and general public. The UK is scheduled to leave the bloc in March 2019, according to Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.

Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson once called May’s Brexit plan “a suicide vest” that is wrapped around the British constitution, adding that the detonator had been handed to Brussels.

On September 12, Apple will host a live product announcement event out of the Steve Jobs Theater at its Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. The company is expected to announce multiple new iPhones and an updated Apple Watch, but other product announcements are also possible.

Apple’s iPhone X has been the top-selling smartphone since its launch in November 2017, so expect Apple’s new phones to draw from the trends that the X started—specifically, a near-edge-to-edge display that has a notch to house the TrueDepth sensor array. We’re also expecting a new chip that, according to Apple’s usual naming convention, will be called the A12. That chip might be the result of a 7nm manufacturing process.

Thousands of anti-abortion advocates have descended on Washington DC for the annual March For Life demonstration at the National Mall.

President Donald Trump addressed the crowd Friday, becoming the third sitting US president to do so. Trump, who spoke via satellite from the White House Rose Garden, followed a precedent set by his Republican predecessors Ronald Reagan, who spoke via telephone in 1988, and George W Bush, who twice did the same in 2003 and 2005.

Trump said ‘March For Life’ was a “movement born out of love” and called for an end to late-term abortions. Later, House Speaker Paul Ryan addressed the crowd from the podium at the Mall, saying: “The young people here are so inspiring because this is a pro life movement that is on the rise – because truth and science are on our side.”

The event was founded by anti-abortion activist Nellie Gray in 1974, to protest the first anniversary of the passing of Roe v Wade – the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize abortion nationwide. The annual gathering has grown from an estimated 20,000 in its first year, to a reported attendance of 650,000 in 2013, according to Fox News.  

In a statement, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue criticised the march, describing it as a “reminder of how a small group of individuals remains obsessed with shaming women for our personal decisions and controlling our lives.”

According to the latest Gallup figures, 50 percent of Americans said abortion should be legal under certain circumstances. Some 29 percent said it should be legal under any circumstance while 18 percent said it should be illegal in all circumstances. Support for some kind of legal abortion has remained steady at around 50 percent since the passing of Roe v Wade.

Wayward Sisters‘ girl power is on full display in more than two dozen photos from the potential Supernatural spinoff.

In the backdoor pilot — penned by co-showrunner Andrew Dabb and writer Robert Berens — Sheriff Jody Mills (played by Kim Rhodes) and a group of troubled young women, all of them orphaned by supernatural tragedy, team up as a supreme monster-fighting force. Teens Claire Novak (Kathryn Newton) and Alex Jones (Katherine Ramdeen) will be joined by psychic Missouri Moseley’s granddaughter Patience Turner (Clark Backo) and newcomer Kaia (Yadira Guevara-Prip), who is introduced in this Thursday’s fall finale.

The group, along with Sheriff Donna Hanscum (Briana Buckmaster), joins forces in the Jan. 18 backdoor pilot to “kick some ass and tell a story that [is] in the Supernatural sphere, but will feel and play as much different than” the mothership series, Dabb described at San Diego Comic-Con.

The offshoot’s found-family has plenty of support from the long-running drama’s stars. “There’s a reason that this [spinoff] is hinging around them: because they were [fan] favorite characters on the show,” leading man Jensen Ackles said during TVLine’s set visit last month. “I know they’re favorite guests of [ours], and when they get to come on the show, it’s really fun for us.”

A group of activists have gathered outside the Alternative for Germany (AfD) election party in Berlin to protest the party’s electoral gains.

The right-wing, anti-immigrant AfD party won third place with about 13 percent of the vote, in the German elections Sunday, according to exit polls. That grants them access to the federal parliament, the Bundestag, for the first time.

Crowds outside the Berlin Traffic Club building on Alexander Platz are chanting, “Go away,”“Nazi pigs,” and “Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here.” Loud booing can also be heard. Members of AfD and some supporters are inside, celebrating their victory.

The demonstrations appear peaceful at the moment. Police told Die Spiegel bottles and stones had been thrown from the crowd and that there have been occasional arrests for “minor incidents.” Riot police are at the scene and have formed a human chain to prevent protesters from getting too close to the venue.

Anti-AfD protests are also taking place in Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf.

“Well that’s democracy, you just have to know there are people with different opinions and this has been forgotten a bit in this democracy, that there is always another opinion,” AfD’s Beatrix von Storch told RT. “Parliament has not had real debates about huge issues as migration, as Islam, as the European Union, all of those topics have only had one answer and we are presenting a different one. Not everyone has to agree with our opinion, but everyone has just to accept that there are other opinions. They have to learn.”

Von Storch said she isn’t surprised by the result. “We knew what we were doing the last weeks, we know the polls, so it’s not coming as a surprise. It was a tough work, and of course we are very happy we have now entered the Bundestag.”

The right-wing party’s rise is said to be as a result of its anti-immigration sentiment and discontent at German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open door policy toward refugees.
“I think it’s sad that they’re attacking us personally, so they are a threat to our health, to our person. Rather than arguing against us they are throwing stones and they are hitting us and they are fighting us. I think this is just sad.”

Merkel secured a fourth term as chancellor in the election, but said AfD’s result would require “thorough analysis” to better understand the concerns of those who voted for them.

The rise and fall of real-time strategy games is a strange one. They emerged gradually out of experiments to combine the excitement and speed of action games with the deliberateness and depth of strategy. Then, suddenly, the genre exploded in popularity in the latter half of the 1990s—only to fall from favor (StarCraft aside) just as quickly during the 2000s amid cries of stagnation and a changing games market. And yet, one of the most popular competitive games in the world today is an RTS, and three or four others are in a genre that branched off from real-time strategy.

At 25 years old, the real-time strategy genre remains relevant for its ideas and legacies. And with it deep in a lull, now is the perfect time to give it the same in-depth historical treatment that we’ve already given to graphic adventures, sims, first-person shooters, kart racers, open-world games, and city builders.

Before I start recounting the history of the genre, some quick ground rules: as in all of these genre histories, I’m looking to emphasize innovation and new ideas, which means that some popular games may be glossed over and [insert-your-favorite-game] might not be mentioned at all. For the purposes of this article, a real-time strategy game is one that involves base building and/or management, resource gathering, unit production, and semi-autonomous combat, all conducted in real time (rather than being turn-based), for the purpose of gaining/maintaining control over strategic points on a map (such as the resources and command centers).
