One viewer posted about Gary’s appearance: “Awww @GaryLineker is such a lovely bloke #TheOneShow,” whereas others commented on Jermaine’s debut. “I so enjoyed this episode! @jjenas8 you were fab! Such a natural presenter! @BBCTheOneShow you should have him on more often,” a second commented. Whilst a third added: “This new presenter with Alex Jones on #TheOneShow is a natural (I didn’t catch his name) “So much better than all of the ones they have been trialling for months – really impressed! @BBCOne,” they continued. Next week, Alex will be joined in the studio by Ronan Keating, 43, to help host the programme. The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One. Fresh off his high-profile moniker makeover, James Roday Rodriguez teases that his Million Little Things character may experience a similar awakening with regard to his ethnicity. Earlier this month, the Mexican-American actor — in an exclusive interview with TVLine — detailed his “deeply personal” decision to reclaim his birth name of Rodriguez after reconciling with the “strange relationship” he has long had with his heritage. When his ABC drama returns with Season 3 this fall, Gary may experience a similar epiphany. Noting that series creator D.J. Nash “loves for art to imitate life” on the series, Rodriguez teases, “I would not be shocked if Gary’s story in Season 3 doesn’t explore his relationship with his heritage, the same way that I’m experiencing my own. We haven’t really kicked the can down that trail yet.” As Rodriguez explained in the initial TVLine Q&A, Nash is actually responsible for “igniting the pilot light” that led to his professional name change. “He came to me [after I was initially cast] and, unsolicited, said, ‘Hey man, do you want Gary to have a Mexican last name?’” Rodriguez recalled. “And I couldn’t believe that someone was acknowledging that I was 50 percent Latino and actually asking me professionally if I wanted to associate that with my work. And I was stoked. I got excited. I thought this would probably be the only time I get to have a Latino name ever.” As far as when Million Little Things will begin production on Season 3 in the age of COVID-19, Rodriguez says all parties are aiming for an August start date. “There are a lot of protocols and restrictions that have to get signed off on by studios and unions — and in our case it’s Canadian unions and U.S. unions,” he says of the show, which shoots in Vancouver. “And I have no idea what production is going to look like once we get there, but they really want it to happen in August.” Gary means well in this week’s A Million Little Things. And he actually makes some good points. But does he have to be such an off-putting jerk about it? As a Magic 8-Ball would say, all signs point to yes, given how Mr. Mendez spends the hour yelling, fight-picking and punch-throwing until he winds up in the back of a police car. The worst part: His belligerence, born of a broken heart, may lead to more heartbreak for Rome and Regina. I’ll explain it all as we review what goes down in “We’re the Howards.” YOU HAD ONE JOB! | Sophie is still living with Rome and Regina, an arrangement that’s working out pretty well. “Is it me, or is this parenting thing not as hard as everyone says it is?” Rome asks his wife. Meanwhile, Delilah is at her house, trying to sleep-train baby Charlie, who is loudly disproving Rome’s thesis. While the teen is vomiting copiously in the bathroom (a little too good on the ADR there, Lizzy Greene). Rome calls Delilah to tell her what’s happened. D throws Charlie in a carrier and flies over, but Regina stops her friend from entering the apartment: The Dixon family’s “reset” won’t work if Delilah comes running every time Sophie pulls a stunt, Gina reasons. Delilah likens the process to sleep training, then thanks Regina and leaves. That’s great and all, but I’m trying to imagine my mom calmly accepting that her underage daughter had gotten drunk, then letting out a frustrated sign and serenely smiling as she allowed someone else to handle the repercussions. I can’t picture it. Such a scenario does not exist in my known universe. Let’s rewind a bit on Gary to see how he got here. After (yet another) random hook-up, Gary finds himself kicked out of bed and in the process of securing a ride home when his phone dies. He ducks into a nearby coffee shop but doesn’t have enough cash to make a purchase that will allow him to use one of their phone chargers, and the shop doesn’t accept credit cards. He’s stuck… until Eric appears out of nowhere and offers to pay for Gary’s banana. How does Gary repay this kindness? By being a gigantic a–hat. He looks at Eric, sweaty from a run, and says, “Look at you, exercising with another man’s heart. You must be very proud.” Eric ignores the barb and apologizes for how things went down with Maggie, adding that he hopes he wasn’t a factor. “Aw, don’t be silly,” Gary snipes. “You split up Maggie and her mom, not Maggie and me.” As Eric leaves, don’t think that Gary doesn’t notice that the other coffee on his order is for someone whose name starts with “MA.” Gary does some extensive research (aka looking past Page 1 of Google search results) and rushes to Eric’s music shop to confront him. “I know what you’re hiding!” he cries, noting that Eric’s fiancee’s family have filed a wrongful-death suit against him. Eric shouts that he and Maggie aren’t together, “but you know what we do talk about? We talk about what a mess you are. No wonder you wanted out.” Bring on the fisticuffs! The two men tussle until Eric’s co-worker comes out from the back of the shop. His name is Max, and the coffee, Gary realizes, was for him. Gary leaves. And he thinks maybe he was all wrong, until the softball game when a look from Delilah — who knows that Maggie and Eric kissed — sends him spiraling again. And that’s when he runs into the racist harassing Rome. “What the hell were you thinking?” Rome demands as they sit, cuffed in the cop car. Rome says he’s always hyper-aware of when he’s the only black man in a crowd — such as he was at the ballgame — and he’s angry that Gary’s attempts to defend him could hurt the adoption process. Gary counters that he’s half Mexican (“passing for white!” Rome observes), but the other man isn’t swayed. “It’s one thing to mess up your life, but now you’re messing with mine,” he says. The police eventually let Rome go. Gary, however, is arrested and brought to the station. To assuage their son’s fears, Eddie and Katherine walk him through the latest change in their lives: Though Eddie’s old record label isn’t interested in the songs he submitted, they do want him to shepherd a young artist named Dakota. And though he originally balked at the idea, a pep talk from Katherine helped him see how it might be an apt, new career track for him. Speaking of Katherine: Gary calls her to come bail him out, but throws a small fit when he sees that she brought a very worried Maggie with her. Katherine reminds him that she and Eddie chose him as Theo’s guardian but they made a mistake: “How could you possibly take care of him when you can’t take care of yourself?” Then she makes him find his own ride home. (Hope that phone is charged by now, Gar!) Back at his place, Gary gathers a bunch of items from his relationship with Maggie and throws them down the garbage chute. Afterward, though, he finds the Post-It with “I’m in” written on it, and he seems very regretful about a great many things. Now it’s your turn. What did you think of the episode? What are the chances the run-in with law enforcement will hurt Rome and Regina’s adoption efforts? Sound off in the comments!

Rome and Regina spend most of the episode making a video that they hope will entice a pregnant mother to let them adopt her baby. They’re feeling really good about everything… until Sophie and a friend get really drunk during a study date that Rome and Regina OK’d.
‘WE LIVE IN TWO DIFFERENT BOSTONS’ | The next day, Sophie is hungover when Rome and Regina rouse her: She’s got a softball game, and they want to attend to get some footage for their video. The whole gang attends — because of course they do — so everyone is there when some racist jerk starts yelling at Rome for filming the game. For reasons we will get into in a moment, Gary is spoiling for (yet another) fight. So he starts pushing the racist guy around. The guy pushes back. Eventually, Rome and Gary are both in handcuffs in the back of a police car.
‘I’M OUT’ | Meanwhile, Theo starts a fight at school. Katherine and Eddie can’t figure out why their sweet little 80-year-old boy would do such a thing, so they ask Maggie to chat with him. Turns out, Theo is a little messed-up about all the upheaval in his life in the past year; when desk-switching day arrived in his classroom, it pushed him over the edge.

“I’m thrilled to be working at HBO Max and bringing them yet another series about a family ruthlessly fighting for the throne,” Janetti said in a statement.
Per the royal logline for The Prince, “Before George rules Britannia, he’ll be laying down his own laws in Janetti’s comedic take on the future King of England’s childhood as seen from the prince’s own point of view. Because his succession isn’t coming any time soon, in each episode George will find his path in life as a young prince in modern times — from the 775 rooms of Buckingham Palace to his family’s sea of corgis to primary school with commoners.
“The Prince also features notable characters in George’s life such as his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, his fourth-in-line-for-the-throne little sister Charlotte, his modern Aunt Meghan and Uncle Harry, his great-granddad Philip, and — who can forget — “his Gan Gan Elizabeth.”

Bethany (played by Lucy Fallon) is set to leave Coronation Street early next year and after Gary’s (Mikey North) reign of terror claimed another two lives this evening, she could very well become his next victim. Although viewers of the ITV soap know the super villain had a change of heart and tried to save gunman Derek Milligan (Craige Els), could the teenager have seen the troubled character’s dramatic death from another perspective and believe her mother’s ex to be a killer? Knowing the Bistro waitress is on to his murderous ways, could the loan shark go to extreme lengths to silence her?
As the terrifying siege began at the Rovers Return where Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) took a fatal hit from a bullet, Bethany and her family were in the Winter Wonderland complex to take part in a treasure hunt for David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) birthday.
However, when Gary coaxed the gunman out the pub, his attempt to act as the hero led the battle straight into the heart of the Platts plans.
Although she tried to take on Derek when he put her brother Harry Platt in danger (Freddie and Isaac Rhodes), the youngster managed to hide away, but was in optimum position to see the troubled character fall to his death.
Knowing Gary was at the top of the construction with the assassin, could the teenager believe Derek might have been pushed to his demise by the super villain and therefore, put her in the firing line?

Watching the horror unfold, the teenager let out a terrifying gasp when the gunman died from such a height, but could this have been because she suddenly realised what Gary was capable of?
Currently, no other Weatherfield resident knows the extent of the loan shark’s criminal empire and what lengths he has gone to in order to get to such a position.
Bethany seemed to be playing coy to the situation as her auntie-in-law Shona Ramsay (Julia Goulding) was also shot in the crossfire.
If she now knows the villain is a killer, will she confront him about his murderous ways and seal her own death?
The aftermath of actor Tristan’s, 52, exit from the cobbles will lead to Kym’s, 43, departure later this week after 13 years in the role.
In a very different take on the soap’s festive instalment, Executive Producer Iain MacLeod explained the decision to kill off a beloved character.
Speaking with press, including Express.co.uk, he said: “Anything like that is a tough decision and indeed, killing any character regardless of whether it’s Christmas or not is a tough decision.
“I’m always fully conscious of the fact these aren’t just characters, there’s an actor and a human being who plays that part.”
“So, before you drop the guillotine on them, you do think long and hard about it because it has serious, real world consequences for people,” the soap boss continued.
“Ultimately, I think actors understand that you want to tell the best story possible and I think the outcomes of the Christmas episode are the right outcomes in the respective stories where they occur.”
Robert also leaves behind his mistress Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn) and their newborn son after his double life was exposed a couple of weeks ago.
How will this new mother cope with the loss of her child’s father, despite having tried to frame him for her murder?
Coronation Street continues tonight at 8pm on ITV.
Celebrated British chef Gary Rhodes, who hosted PBS’ MasterChef USA along with several UK cooking shows, has died at the age of 59.
Rhodes fell ill while filming a new TV show in Dubai, according to our sister site Variety. Producers Rock Oyster Media and Goldfinch said in a statement that they are “devastated by this tragic news.”
A chef whose restaurant Rhodes Twenty Four earned a Michelin star in 2005, Rhodes hosted a number of cooking shows in the United Kingdom, including BBC’s MasterChef, before moving onto MasterChef USA, which ran for two seasons on PBS in 2000 and 2001. Fox’s MasterChef, hosted by Gordon Ramsay, debuted in 2010, and followed the format established by Rhodes’ shows. Rhodes also co-hosted a season of Hell’s Kitchen in the UK after Ramsay departed.
Ramsay offered his condolences on Twitter: “We lost a fantastic chef today in Gary Rhodes. He was a chef who put British cuisine on the map. Sending all the love and prayers to your wife and kids. You’ll be missed.”
Fellow TV chef Jamie Oliver also paid tribute to Rhodes on Instagram: “Gary was a fantastic chef and incredible ambassador for British cooking; he was a massive inspiration to me as a young chef. He reimagined modern British cuisine with elegance and fun.”

Charlie brought this up during his interview this morning and awkwardly said: “Now, trying to segue into this next bit of the chat.
“There are obviously upsides to being good at your job and people recognise you being good at your job, there are downsides, which you get lots of scrutiny and one of the things you get with the BBC situation is pay.
“Everyone says ‘Gary Lineker and his pay, why is he paid so much’ and all of that stuff that comes with it. How do you respond to all of that?”
“It’s very difficult isn’t it,” the guest replied.

“He wants a relationship and until he gets over that, he will continue to be dangerous.”
Mikey went on to cite the recent violence he went through with debt collector Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).
“Also, what happened with Rick will continue to haunt him,” he went on.
“He almost died, I believe he is suffering from PTSD from that.”

Gary’s (played by Mikey North) sinister motive behind tampering with the Underworld factory roof, which led to its tragic collapse on Coronation Street earlier this year, was explained to viewers in a voicemail he left for ex-girlfriend, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
Having been beaten back and blue by loan shark Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) earlier this week during the ITV soap’s late night episodes, Gary left a dying declaration to Sarah as he saw no way out his predicament.
To much avail, Gary pulled through with a few broken ribs and worrying his secret was going to be exposed, the builder was shocked to discover Carla Connor (Alison King) had Sarah’s phone, having got her hands on it due to her spiralling paranoia.
The super villain managed to take back the phone once Carla was admitted to hospital and having heard the voicemail in full, viewers will now be wandering who could be the criminal’s next victim, with Rick possibly in his sights.
Following the tragedy of the factory roof collapse, it was fan favourite Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) who lost her life, to which Gary admitted to Sarah in the voicemail he was deeply regretful about.
Now, with his identity revealed to viewers, Gary could set about getting rid of Rick once and for all as he embraces his dark side, getting revenge on the loan shark who drove his relationship to the brink.
Executive producer Iain MacLeod previously spoke out about the super villain’s reign of terror and how the factory collapse would be the first in a number of atrocities they would end up committing.
Following the big reveal, Gary Windass star Mikey North, 32, has now spoken out on what could be next for the soap’s newest super villain and the next steps in his dangerous game with Rick having narrowly escaped his clutches earlier this week.
“He’s not a villain as such in the guise of Phelan, but he’s definitely on the wrong side of the law. Gary suddenly has a lot more to contend with, he’s fighting for his survival and that’s what makes Gary so dangerous.
“Everything he’s done was for Sarah, so when she turns her back on him, he’s got nothing more to lose and that makes him much more dangerous. Gary is in deep and he’s effectively fighting for his life,” the actor explained.
Mikey continued: “Gary’s not evil, he’s done a very bad thing and he’ll have to live with that for the rest of his life, but is he prepared to go to jail for it?
“Maybe not and now he’s got Rick on his back as well, we’ll see Gary come out fighting and I love playing that edge to him. Gary can make very rash decisions and then is forced down a path of no return.”
Could Gary’s anguish with Rick lead him to take another life, telling himself he’s doing it for the greater good?
It’s fair to say Rick has made a fair share of enemies on the street, having first appeared on the cobbles 10 years ago when he began the catalyst of events which saw Gail Platt’s (Helen Worth) husband Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale) accidentally drown whilst trying to fake his own death.
The loan shark also made an enemies of Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox) and Joe’s daughter Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) when he returned for a second stint on the soap in 2012, which led to his subsequent arrest.
With a number of enemies past and present in Weatherfield, could Gary be the one to take the loan shark down and end Rick’s reign of terror on the Manchester based soap?
Last night’s instalment also saw the shock return of Rana from beyond the grave, after Carla envisioned the deceased character in the midst of a severe psychosis episode, which began as she believed she was the one who had caused the factory roof collapse.
Taking to Twitter, fans quickly reacted to the return of Rana with one posting: “Tonight’s Corrie had me shook! That scene with Rana sent chills down my spine But I feel so sorry for Carla.”
Another added: “I almost screamed when she turned around and it was Rana,” with a third sharing: “That Rana hallucination was so scary! Shout out to Alison King for her acting, truly amazing!!”
After a week of drama and now off the hooks with viewers over the factory disaster, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) will have to deal with the aftermath of a crime much closer to home, but will he get revenge on his mother Gail?
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
This week of Coronation Street has all been building up to tonight’s explosive episode.
Carla Connor (played by Alison King) ran away and suffered a complete psychotic break, and as the hallucinations became too hard to ignore she thought she saw dead Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Lambacchia) and her older brother Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), who took his own life on the ITV soap last year.
Once Carla was safely confined to the hospital, Gary Windass (Mikey North) snuck in, took his girlfriend Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) phone out of Carla’s bag, and revealed the truth.
Viewers watched as Gary listened intently to a heartfelt recording he’d left for the woman he loves when he thought his days were numbered as Rick Neelan (Alexander Lincoln) closed in on him.
The message revealed Gary had purposely sabotaged the Underworld factory roof, and as a result killed Rana.
The character proceeded to delete the voicemail and fans can be sure he is set to cause even more trouble on the cobbles as time goes on.
Following the big reveal, actor Mikey shared his thoughts on what’s to come and how he feels about being the next big villain to grace Weatherfield.
“I found out a good few months ago,” he shared first. “It’s been hard keeping it under wraps for so long, it’s been helpful that Gary’s been off the radar really, you never really thought that he was the number one suspect.
“There’s been little bits brought in, his reaction when Sarah asked him about it was maybe a slight signpost to his guilt but it’s been helped by the fact he was under the radar.
“If you watch it back now though you will see subtle clues that it was him. You’ll see him in the background watching Imran go about his work and he’s looking pretty guilty.”
Asked whether Gary is consumed by his guilt, Mikey said it’s an up and down journey for his character.
“There are moments when he’s so weighed down by it but Gary comes out fighting,” he explained. “He’s desperate to hold onto Sarah and he’s suddenly got even bigger things to worry about with Rick.
“One problem is suddenly eclipsed by another. If he thought things were bad after the factory collapse then life is about to get a whole lot worse for Gary.
While Mikey insisted Gary isn’t evil the way the legendary Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) was, Gary could lose control and end up paying a huge price for his actions.
Will he exit or go to prison? Mikey revealed the thought of his role being in jeopardy did come to the surface.
“It did cross my mind,” he admitted. “But as an actor you have to relish being given these storylines and I’m so excited to see what they’re going to throw at me.
“I’ve been here for over 10 years now and this is the most exciting period of time in Gary’s life. You want big storylines so I’ll take whatever they can throw at me.
“I don’t think Gary has any intention of being caught for a long time yet and he won’t go down without a fight that’s for sure. The stakes are high now for Gary and he’s got nothing to lose.
“This is the start of the next chapter in Gary’s life and I can’t wait to get stuck in and see what the writers have in store for him,” the star added. “Bring it on I say.”
