Close friends say Streisand, 76, is upset 32-year-old Gaga and her co-star and producer Bradley Cooper refused to create a cameo role for her, or accept any help behind the camera.

She has hit back by releasing a re-edit of the 1973 blockbuster featuring never-before-seen footage of her playing Evergreen on the guitar and a fresh twist on her final, haunting scene with co-star Kris Kristofferson.

It is already streaming live on Netflix and Streisand also reportedly plans a remastered version of her original soundtrack.

A friend of Streisand said yesterday: “She feels offended no one seemed to even want to acknowledge her, let alone take any advice.

“It’s as if she has been brushed aside by a new generation of artists who aren’t remotely interested in learning from a vastly experienced entertainer who’s achieved just about everything in showbusiness.”

Gaga – who won her first acting award in 2016 for TV series American Horror Story: Hotel – is also fuming.

A source said: “Gaga is angry and a little worried about the impact Barbra’s projects are going to have on hers.”

The Gaga reboot that hits UK cinemas in October is the fourth time A Star Is Born has been made.

The story of love between a rising female star and a fading male performer first hit movie screens in 1937.

There was a musical in 1954 then came the 1973 multi award-winning blockbuster.

Now Gaga aims to recreate that success with her reboot.

Her friend said: “Despite bad blood and ugly rumours, she is one hundred per cent confident her film will be a winner.”

Yeah yeah, you knew all along. Whatever, I’ll self-own with this post, I’ve already taken nothing but Ls over the last year.

The first segment of last night’s Super Bowl halftime show featured Lady Gaga singing and speaking the Pledge of Allegiance from atop the stadium roof, before “jumping” 265 feet to be lowered to the stage. It was a cool moment!

What is was not, was live. Videos taken from the stands show her already suspended on wires and being lowered to the field when the video cut off on the Jumbotron and the lights went up. She did not leap from the roof, and wasn’t even up there on Sunday.

So, yes, of course they taped the intro. Not just for ease of production, but because no one involved wants to risk Lady Gaga pulling an Owen Hart in front of the single largest TV audience ever. It wasn’t a huge secret, either—an article explaining how they got all those remote-control helicopters to hover in formation noted, with no more detail, that “it taped the show earlier this week.”

This was one of those things that was obvious if you took a moment to think about it, but I did not take the moment to think about it. A quick Twitter poll indicates that 71 percent of voters did not realize the segment was pretaped, so don’t feel dumb if you got taken. I don’t! (A caveat on the poll: Our readers are really dumb.)

A still-unsolved mystery: Where did Lady Gaga go after finishing her performance by leaping from the stage and catching a football? Maybe she’s falling still… (Update: Or she landed in a foam dumpster.)

Remember when quadcopter drones juggled balls and formed up into a Star Trek logo? That seems downright quaint compared to what we just saw at Lady Gaga’s elaborately produced Super Bowl halftime show. During her first number, 300 Intel drones formed the shape of an American flag, punctuating the singer’s wire-assisted fall to the stage below.

The “Shooting Star” drones Intel introduced last year are a foot across and weigh just eight ounces, thanks to a foam body designed to soften impacts. Each is equipped with a special LED that can produce four billion color combinations including, obviously, red, white and blue.

The performance is coordinated by a central computer that can do unlimited UAV animations in three dimension. Intel recently set a world record by flying 500 of them together (video, below) and said “we hope this experience inspires other creatives, artists and innovators to really think about how they can incorporate drone technology in new ways.” The sophisticated algorithms even check the battery levels and assign lesser roles to weaker drones — if one should drop out, a reserve unit automatically takes its place within a few seconds.

If you’re wondering how Intel pulled this off in a huge crowd under airtight security with strict FAA flight regulations, the answer is slightly disappointing. The drone performance was actually taped on an earlier night, and didn’t appear live to the crowd at Houston’s NRG Stadium (except on the Jumbotron). Nevertheless, as Intel refines quadcopter performers, you can expect to see them providing grand-scale spectacle in place of, say, fireworks or skydivers. And while might be a waste of their true potential, the algorithms it’s developing might eventually help make rescue, delivery and other tech possible.

It’s easy to be cynical about the Super Bowl’s halftime show: unless you’re a fan of the artists, it’s often an excuse for a bathroom break… or at least, to gawk at the ridiculousness of the American cultural zeitgeist. Lady Gaga might give even the jaded a reason to tune in this year, though. CNN sources hear that the “Bad Romance” singer (who’s rather fond of tech) is planning a show using “hundreds” of lit-up drones, marking the first time that robotic fliers have graced the Big Game. Gaga and crew aren’t spoiling the show, but people in the Houston area have witnessed drones swarming over the football stadium like a horde of glitzy UFOs.

One thing’s for sure: those will be the only drones you’ll see flying anywhere near the field. The FAA has established a “No Drone Zone” in a 34.5-mile radius around NRG Stadium. That’s not at all shocking given the FAA’s aversion to seeing drones near sporting events, but it also means that Gaga is getting a big exception. Clearly, you get to fudge the rules a bit when you’ve sold millions of albums.

And you might even know what to expect besides Ms. Germanotta’s flair for dramatic, socially conscious singing. Remember how Intel recently unveiled a drone built just for complicated light shows like this? There’s no guarantee that you’ll see those exact bots, but they’re the most likely candidates. Whoever’s behind the tech, let’s just hope they’ve accounted for the mountains of wireless traffic at the game — falling drones could make the performance a little too memorable.

The actual game of football is only part of the attraction of the Super Bowl. The commercials and the event’s Half Time show are the other huge draws. With Lady Gaga headlining the event this year, we’re assured that it’ll be an elaborate show, and CNN Tech is reporting that the singer’s performance will include “hundreds — yes, hundreds — of lit-up drones.”

According to sources who spoke with CNN, this is the first time that drones have been incorporated into a Half Time show. The use of the drones had to be cleared by the Federal Aviation Administration, as it has established a “No Drone Zone” in a 34.5 mile radius around the stadium starting today and ending on Midnight on Sunday.

Earlier this week, an observer spotted drones flying over the stadium during rehearsals:

Drones have been used for elaborate aerial light shows in the past, their inclusion in this year’s Half Time show will certainly add to the spectacle of the performance.

Following last year’s appearance by Beyoncé, there’s been much speculation about whether or not Lady Gaga has been ordered to avoid making any political statements, given her support for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election. During a press conference earlier this week, she noted that she “believe[s] in a passion for inclusion, I believe in the spirit of equality,” and that her performance would reflect that.
