Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “Cannot be a coincidence that they’re are two players on the chase one called winston and another churchill.. #TheChase.”

“Has anyone noticed that they’ve put Winston next to Churchill?  #TheChase,” someone else wrote.

A third added: ““Winston Churchill, Teresa…. June.”

“If only June had been called May. Is this a wind up line up? #thechase #bradleywalsh #itv,” a tweet read.

Meanwhile, another chimed: “Whoever picks the teams for the chase is a real joker and I’m sure it’s always when @jenlion is on #winstonchurchill #theresajune.”

Elsewhere on This Morning, Ruth and Eamonn are counting down the days until Holly and Phillip return next week.

Ruth and Eamonn were also joined by Vanessa Feltz and Gyles Brandreth today.

Gyles was in a rather loud jumper today which Eamonn assumed was a Christmas jumper.

But, Gyles said it was his fruit and veg jumper after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced new rules on keeping the UK healthy.

This Morning airs on ITV weekdays at 10am.

The presenter is on hand to assist the hopeful contestants and isn’t afraid to comment on their lack of knowledge.

Cain was the first contestant to try his luck but a confession he made after using a lifeline left Jeremy speechless.

Jeremy asked Cain: “If a food is prepared in the ‘julienne’ style, which of these does it resemble?”

Out of the four options provided, Cain wasn’t sure of the answer and opted to use the ‘Ask The Audience’ lifeline.

The majority of the audience chose option C for “Matchsticks” but this revelation jogged Cain’s memory.

“Well 42% have gone for matchsticks,” read Jeremy.

Cain confused: “You know what, julienne fries. Can I go matchsticks final answer please?”

After a long pause, Jeremy quipped: “Literally wasted a lifeline.”

Cain and the studio audience could be heard laughing before Jeremy confirmed he had answered correctly.

The hopeful quizzer continued this pattern and used his lifelines despite admitting he would have chosen the correct answer regardless.

Viewers were quick to comment on the contestant’s performance.

One said: “Oh my god this guy is so annoying! Wasted his life lines and knows the answer after using them, so stupid! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

Another added: “Go with you instincts man! They seem to be dong well! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

“That guy has wasted his lifelines on easy questions! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire,” a third remarked.

A fourth wrote: “He’s used all his lifelines at an early stage, questions were too easy #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire this guy.”

“Another lifeline?! These are easy questions!! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire,” another tweeted.

“This guy is incredibly cocky for someone who’s used three lifelines when questions haven’t even started getting hard yet. #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire,” a sixth said.

Unfortunately Cain’s luck ran out and he went home with £8,000.

BBC News: ‘Disappointing’ Viewers in uproar over heatwave report as they spot huge gaffe https://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-disappointing-viewers-in-uproar-over-heatwave-report-as-they-spot-huge-gaffe/ https://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-disappointing-viewers-in-uproar-over-heatwave-report-as-they-spot-huge-gaffe/#respond Thu, 25 Jul 2019 08:33:29 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-disappointing-viewers-in-uproar-over-heatwave-report-as-they-spot-huge-gaffe/

BBC Breakfast returned to BBC One this morning with the team of presenters scattered across several locations to bring viewers the programme.

Charlie Stayt was live from Westminster with the latest in politics, while Naga Munchetty started off in the studio in Salford before taking the broadcast outside to enjoy the sunshine.

All this week, Britain has been experiencing a heatwave, and today temperatures are set to break records for the hottest day of the year.

This was the show’s top topic of conversation and viewers tuned in to see segments from how to keep cool, what to wear to work and health advice from the NHS.

But there was one pre–recorded section which infuriated viewers.

Speaking directly to those watching at home, Naga introduced: “As Charlie alluded to, Britain is setting itself up for a record breaking heat today, temperatures could reach 39 degrees Celsius.

“The Met Office is warning of thunderstorms later on, it could bring flash flooding, power cuts and travel delays. Leigh Millner has more.”

“No matter where you are in the UK, there’s no escaping the blazing heat,” the BBC reporter spoke.

“With temperatures expected to hit 39 degrees Celsius today, health experts say we need to keep cool and hydrated.”

She then appeared on camera and was seen holding a single-use plastic bottle in her hands.

“So that means carry plenty of this with you, [throws water bottle into the air] and plenty of sunscreen.

“Oh, and a top tip, if you stay inside, make sure you close your windows and keep the curtains drawn if you want to stay cool,” she concluded.

While BBC Breakfast fans appreciated the tip to stay hydrated, many questioned why a reusable water bottle wasn’t used for the segment considering the conscious effort the nation is taking to reduce the amount of single use plastic being used.

Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “@BBCBreakfast can you please advise people to take reusable water bottles with them. Stop waving plastic bottles around!”

“Can’t believe that @BBCBreakfast are saying that we need water in a SINGLE USE plastic #notgreen #notoplastic #killingtheplanet #resuseandrecycle.” a second chimed.

“It’s nice to be out in a bit of sunshine but it is going to get too hot for many later,” he began. “Quite a remarkable spell of weather with us at the moment, it all links to what has been happening across parts of western Europe, we’ve seen temperatures soar over the past few days.

“Let’s take a look at the temperature we have to beat today to make it the hottest day on record here in the UK. 38.5 degrees Celsius in Faversham, Kent recorded in August 2003.

“Today we could hit 39 degrees Celsius in the south-east corner. [But] once you factor in the humidity it will feel closer to 43 degrees,” he revealed.

It comes after yesterday’s show when viewers accused the show of “biased” reporting of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.

The Big Bang Theory: Fans spot HUGE gaffe involving this MAJOR celebrity cameo https://briefnews.eu/the-big-bang-theory-fans-spot-huge-gaffe-involving-this-major-celebrity-cameo/ https://briefnews.eu/the-big-bang-theory-fans-spot-huge-gaffe-involving-this-major-celebrity-cameo/#respond Wed, 29 May 2019 06:24:18 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-big-bang-theory-fans-spot-huge-gaffe-involving-this-major-celebrity-cameo/

In looking back, a serious gaffe has been spotted by fans that had been lost in the many The Big Bang Theory episodes.

It involves Howard Wolowitz (played by Simon Helberg) and Raj Koothrappali and a pair of female models in the CBS sitcom.

They head to the house of America’s Next Top Model and bump into Analeigh Tipton and Samantha Potter from the real-life show.

In somewhat outdated scenes, the pair sneak into the house under the disguise of fixing the television.

Then, flash forward seven seasons and the pair come face-to-face with Analeigh again as she makes her second cameo.

However, the scene goes totally unacknowledged and it appears bosses forgot she had been in the show before.

In season seven, the duo helped Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) devise a questionnaire for a new girlfriend after he briefly separated from long-term girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik).

With Amy dating David Gibbs (Stephen Merchant), Sheldon decided he would move on as well and in typical Sheldon fashion created a knowledge-based quiz to find a new date.

Ironically, it was Analeigh who won a date with Sheldon and she came to his flat to meet Sheldon and claim her date.

Although giving her name as Vanessa, it is still shocking she as not recognised and instead was sent packing after arriving too late.

This is not the first issue fans have spotted about the show whilst looking back at previous seasons.

In looking back through the 12 seasons of the show, one Reddit fan has noticed a fashion choice by Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco) is repeated when an important event is taking place.

Completing a huge full circle moment for Penny, Reddit user thegirlwholaughed revealed she wears a light blue T-shirt in the final episode that she is also seen wearing in the first ever episode.

The top has a purple flower design on one side and this is what made the fan realise it was the exact same one worn in season one.

It represents an important moment in Penny’s life as it is in the first ever episode that she meets future husband Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and his best friend Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons).

The trio’s meeting has shaped the success of the show and they have taken fans on their 12 seasons’ journey.

Meanwhile, Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny Hofstadter, revealed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert how hard it was for the cast to keep the ending a secret from fans.

Sheldon star Jim also added: “I was talking to one of the writers and he was like, ‘I’m nervous!’

“And I was like, ‘Well, you can’t get it wrong because it’s yours, you’ve been writing it all this time.’

“I said, ‘Look at it this way: You can’t get it right. It’s a series finale. Someone’s going to hate it’.”

The Big Bang Theory season 12 is available on CBS and All4.

BBC News: ‘Leave them ALONE’ Naga Munchetty scolds Louise Minchin for ‘stealing’ gaffe https://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-leave-them-alone-naga-munchetty-scolds-louise-minchin-for-stealing-gaffe/ https://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-leave-them-alone-naga-munchetty-scolds-louise-minchin-for-stealing-gaffe/#respond Fri, 17 May 2019 10:11:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-leave-them-alone-naga-munchetty-scolds-louise-minchin-for-stealing-gaffe/

Presenters Naga and Louise don’t usually present together on BBC Breakfast.

The daily BBC news programme pairs one female broadcast journalist with a male, so the duo don’t often interact.

Today’s edition however saw Naga chatting with Louise via a video link, as the 51-year-old presenter was based in Birmingham for the morning to discuss and raise awareness about the menopause.

Returning to Louise in the middle of an enormous garden, Naga was left stunned to witness Louise surrounded by hundreds of bunches of beautiful flowers, and she was on her own.

Puzzled as to how her fellow colleague had managed to gather up and display all the flowers without help or assistance, Naga jokingly accused Louise she’d done something untoward.

Following the latest weather forecast, Naga attempted to segue way into the next segment with: “Don’t know if it’s geraniums weather at the moment, Lou can tell us.”

“Don’t know if it’s ever geraniums weather,” Naga’s co-host Jon Kay noted.

“Well what are we talking about all week,” Naga continued. “It’s been menopause week and you’ve all been sending in your experiences.

“Louise is at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and she’s been stealing the flowers and the plants by the looks of things.

“Lou has been stealing all the flowers!”

Taken-aback by the display on screen in front of her, Naga cried: “Lou, leave them alone!”

Bemused by the unexpected accusation, Louise smiled as she insisted: “All we’ve done is borrow them.“

Getting back to the important conversation at hand, the presenter shared: “Good morning to you all, thank you so much Jon and Naga and thank you so much to all of you who have been joining in this conversation.

“We wanted to start to talk about it and I felt really nervous at the beginning of this week, but I have genuinely been touched, overwhelmed by all the messages, thank you so much.

“I just want to give you one example,” Louise went on, reading out a Tweet from one viewer.

“This is Mandy and she says thank you for talking about this,” she said. “Apart from the hot flushes I had no real idea what to expect, at times I’ve been feeling particularly bad or depressed and downbeat, not like my usual optimistic self.”

“I know what you mean,” Louise encouraged the brave viewer for sending in her thoughts, and continued to share her own experiences on today’s programme.

Yesterday’s edition of the show left viewers feeling bemused as they spotted an unusual cat animation on the screen all of a sudden.

The moment took place during Sally Nugent’s sports report and was a hilarious off-piste moment.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.

BBC News: ‘I apologise profusely’ Louise Minchin WALKS OFF set over ’embarrassing’ gaffe https://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-i-apologise-profusely-louise-minchin-walks-off-set-over-embarrassing-gaffe/ https://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-i-apologise-profusely-louise-minchin-walks-off-set-over-embarrassing-gaffe/#respond Tue, 09 Apr 2019 10:10:41 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/bbc-news-i-apologise-profusely-louise-minchin-walks-off-set-over-embarrassing-gaffe/

The situation came as a great amusement to her co-host Dan Walker who held the show together as Louise was forced to walk off the set.

It all unfolded on BBC Breakfast as the camera cut back to focus on the presenting pair after an interview with Justice Secretary David Gauke.

However, Louise looked aghast as her mobile started unexpectedly making a sound on the BBC programme.

“Oh god sorry, that is so embarrassing,” she exclaimed.

A confused Louise appeared unable to turn it off as she said: “How have I done that?

“I’m literally going to have to walk off set.”

Louise then made her way out of view of the camera as she walked to hand her phone over to a crew member.

Dan laughed: “She’s walking off set.

“She’s walking off. She’s embarrassed. That’s Louise’s new podcast.”

Returning to her position beside Dan, Louise declared: “I’m really properly embarrassed.”

“It’s alright. It’s still going. Have you managed to turn it off?” Dan chuckled as he spoke to someone who was off-camera.

Louise asked: “How have I done that? I really do profusely apologise.”

“It was your phone and you pressed play,” Dan explained.

Louise continued as she put her head in her hands: “I don’t even know what I did. I apologise profusely.”

“Oh you really are embarrassed aren’t you,” Dan observed.

Judi Dench in hilarious ‘erection’ gaffe: People ‘walked off the stage in shock’ https://briefnews.eu/judi-dench-in-hilarious-erection-gaffe-people-walked-off-the-stage-in-shock/ https://briefnews.eu/judi-dench-in-hilarious-erection-gaffe-people-walked-off-the-stage-in-shock/#respond Fri, 25 Jan 2019 13:09:20 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/judi-dench-in-hilarious-erection-gaffe-people-walked-off-the-stage-in-shock/

The iconic actress was speaking on The Graham Norton Show – due to air tonight – about her new film All Is True when she recalled making an error during a performance of The Merchant Of Venice. The star singled out the play as her least favourite by the Bard, and it seems she has a bad memory to go along with it.

“I have never been fond of it,” she said. “Everyone in it behaves very badly.

“Against my will I did once play Portia the first year I was married and Mike [late husband Michael Williams] played Bassanio and I had a speech to him and I made a terrible, terrible mistake.

“Instead of saying, ‘I speak too long; but ’tis to peize the time, to eke it and to draw it out in length, to stay you from election’; I said ‘Erection’.

“The wind band that was about to play put down their instruments and walked off the stage in shock.

“It caused a lot of unrest!”

Discussing her new movie with Sir Kenneth Branagh, Dench said she needed next-to-no persuading to take the job.

“All the films I have done with Ken is the same story,” she explained.

“He just says, ‘I wonder if you would be interested…’ and I say ‘Yes’, and for this one I got a call from my agent to say Ken wanted to come down and talk to me about something, and I said, ‘Tell him not to come, I’ll do it.’”

Branagh interjected: “It is absolutely true. She said, ‘Don’t waste the petrol.’”

All Is True also stars Sir Ian McKellen, and tells the story of Shakespeare returning to his home in Stratford after the Globe Theatre burns down in 1613.

Branagh also directs, from a screenplay by Ben Elton.

All Is True is out on February 8. The Graham Norton Show airs tonight on BBC One.

Legend savages sneaky NBL for gaffe https://briefnews.eu/legend-savages-sneaky-nbl-for-gaffe/ https://briefnews.eu/legend-savages-sneaky-nbl-for-gaffe/#respond Fri, 21 Dec 2018 08:51:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/legend-savages-sneaky-nbl-for-gaffe/ Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze has taken aim at the NBL with a pointed apology after an inappropriate comment last night.

Gaze is coach of the Sydney Kings, who defeated the Cairns Taipans 81-70 in Cairns for a fifth straight win.

It was nearing the end of the third quarter when the cameras pushed in on the Kings huddle.

In an impassioned tactical speech to his charges, Gaze fired up and said on of the Taipans players had “a finger up his a***”.

He was quick to both apologise to fans but took aim at the NBL for its broadcasting standards, blowing up about the lack of a signal that coaches are on-air.

“I said something that was private, that was in the context of our huddle and that was inappropriate for the public to hear,” Gaze said following the match.

“Unfortunately this league has a policy of going in there without telling us. I don’t know when. In the emotion of things, you might say things. But I would like to apologise for what was said.

“I think its grossly unfair what they do to the coaches in those circumstances. If they’ve got to do it, put a sign up, put a red light up and say ‘you’re on’ and then it’s on us.

“But if I don’t know when it’s on or off that’s when I’m embarrassed for myself and it shouldn’t happen, so it’s really, really disappointing.”

The comments have deflected from an impressive Kings winning streak which has pushed Sydney into second behind the Perth Wildcats ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster against reigning champions Melbourne United.

Gaze said things like this hurt the game.

“We do our best to sell this game. People don’t want to see that, they don’t want to hear that, they shouldn’t have to hear that,” Gaze said.

“It’s upsetting for me that people hear that and it’s a real shame that that’s the way (the NBL) treats us.

“But if that’s the world we live in then at the very least put a sign up and say ‘you’re on’ so it gives us a small chance of controlling ourselves and not having to go through a situation where I deeply apologise for what was said.”

The Kings are 10-4 on the season, led by import Jerome Randle and Aussie superstar Andrew Bogut.

Bogut, who shrugged off MVP talk in an interview with NBL.com, said the Kings are still building.

“I’m excited for what we are trying to build here,” Bogut said.

“We are still a long way from where we think we can get to and that’s the most exciting thing because our ceiling isn’t even close to being reached yet.”

Every game of the NBL is live and on demand on Kayo Sports, just one of 50 sports on the platform. Kayo Sports is available from $ 25 per month for two devices at once and is available on Apple, Android and Google devices.

Strictly Come Dancing 2018: Shirley Ballas says bizarre ROYALTY mistake caused name gaffe https://briefnews.eu/strictly-come-dancing-2018-shirley-ballas-says-bizarre-royalty-mistake-caused-name-gaffe/ https://briefnews.eu/strictly-come-dancing-2018-shirley-ballas-says-bizarre-royalty-mistake-caused-name-gaffe/#respond Fri, 30 Nov 2018 20:49:51 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/strictly-come-dancing-2018-shirley-ballas-says-bizarre-royalty-mistake-caused-name-gaffe/

Last weekend’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing was an explosive one as the series trialled its first Lindyhopathon in a bid to give the remaining contestants a chance to win extra points.

Chaos ensued on the BBC show as things started to go wrong with the carefully planned set up for the dance extravaganza.

And then in a startling twist the Queen of Latin said Karen’s name wrong.

Appearing on This Morning to discuss the series today, Shirley addressed what had really happened to presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

“It’s much easier than the first season, you’re holding the paddle pressing the things you know,” she began. “One or two glitches here and there, but basically it goes quite well.”

Not willing to let Shirley off that easily, Eamonn pressed: “What happened with iPad gate last week? Because we feel for you, we know you press the [home] button and you go like that to the home screen.”

“Well Darcey was doing the iPads,” Shirley answered with a smile. “And Craig had to write in his way, you know, first through seventh.

“The iPad seemed to go down and then we were fumbling for this piece of paper.”

Recalling the evening’s events, Shirley continued: “And for a split second I glanced up and saw royalty there.

“And then as I glanced down I saw Charles [Venn] and Karen, and it just rolled off my tongue [Prince] Charles and [Princess] Diana.”

The star laughed as she admitted her strange association and Ruth and Eamonn’s eyebrows raised at the story.

“I did apologise to Karen,” the judge insisted. “She took it with a great sense of humour. But yeah it’s just live TV so that happens…”

Keen to show her support for the guest, Ruth assured: “Always proves it’s live doesn’t it?”

“And actually people quite like it sometimes when it goes a little bit wrong… just a little bit wrong, don’t they?” she giggled conspiratorially.

The royal audience members Shirley had been referring to were Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and her mother Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

The two women were pictured standing up and cheering on the acts as they delivered their show-stopping performances, particularly former contestant Graeme Swann and his professional dance partner Oti Mabuse.

The pair danced a traditional Quickstep and had most of the audience on their feet, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to save them from the public vote.

Forced to dance against Ashley Roberts and Pasha Kovalev in the dance off, Graeme and Oti lost out as the judges unanimously voted to save the former Pussycat Dolls singer.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
