Fuller House‘s entire five-season run was peppered with callbacks to Full House, but the Netflix comedy went above and beyond for its just-released final episodes. And we have the show’s stars to thank for it, apparently. “We kept giving the writers more [ideas], because we remember most of the things from the show,” Candace Cameron Bure tells TVLine. “Where they would give one nugget, we would give them another five on top of that. In that scene in the attic, Jodie and I were the ones who were like, ‘We need the Honeybee costumes and D.J.’s lips phone!’ They just have the newer things in the attic. We’re the ones who always suggest more and more.” Adds Andrea Barber, “A lot of our writers haven’t even seen Full House, oddly enough, but Candace and Jodie and I were like, ‘We know all the relics you need to pull out.’ And some of them aren’t even referenced. We don’t even talk about them. You have to keep your eye out and look for them. This was our last chance to do all these callbacks, and we jammed in as many as we could.” For this list, we chose to focus on the final nine episodes of Fuller House, which hit Netflix earlier this week. From old Tanner family memorabilia (D.J.’s lips phone!) to familiar guest stars (so many exes!), no stone was left unturned — or unreferenced — in the second half of Season 5. Did we miss a few? It’s possible, but hey, that’s what the comments section is for! So check out our gallery of Easter eggs and references — click here for direct access — then drop a comment with any of your own additions below. Warning: This post contains mild spoilers from the final episodes of Fuller House. Fuller House‘s final nine episodes hit Netflix on Tuesday, and while plenty of familiar faces do pop in for one last visit, there’s still a key family member missing from the action. And we’re not talking about Michelle. As anticipated, Lori Loughlin — who has been in and out of court for more than a year, thanks to her involvement in the College Admissions Scandal — does not appear in the family comedy’s final run. Aunt Becky’s absence is noted in the season’s 15th episode when Jesse (John Stamos) shows up at the Fuller household, furious that one of his daughter’s classmates apparently bit her at school. “Becky is in Nebraska helping out with her mother,” Jesse says when asked why his wife isn’t with him. “I don’t want to bother her with a tiny little thing like that.” This marks the last time Becky is mentioned on Fuller House. She also doesn’t return for DJ, Stephanie and Kimmy’s triple wedding in the series finale, but considering how chaotic that day turns out to be, we’re not surprised that her absence goes completely unnoticed. Loughlin last appeared in the ninth episode of Season 4, titled “Perfect Sons.” Of course, this isn’t the only acting opportunity Loughlin lost out on as a result of her criminal actions. She was also fired from Hallmark Channel‘s When Calls the Heart, along with all of the network’s future movie projects. Have you been bingeing Fuller House‘s final episodes? Fuller House returned for its final nine episodes on Tuesday, kicking things off with a surprisingly emotional three-way engagement party for the She-Wolf Pack. In honor of the ladies’ collective betrothal, Joey decided to throw them an impromptu celebration — so impromptu, in fact, that neither Danny nor Jesse were able to attend. (Becky was also MIA, but we’ll address her whereabouts at another time.) The real tragedy came when a singing telegram revealed that Mr. and Mrs. Gibbler also had to miss the momentous shindig, crushing Kimmy and Jimmy’s hopes of reuniting with their parents after spending decades apart. “I’m honestly torn over that storyline,” Andrea Barber admits to TVLine. “I love that we finally understand where Kimmy is coming from and how she became who she is, but I’m also sad that we didn’t get to meet them. I want to meet the Gibblers!” (For what it’s worth, Barber said she’s always envisioned someone like Jane Lynch playing the role of Kimmy’s mother, while I’d throw Amy Sedaris’ hat into the ring.) Given that this mess was “entirely” Joey’s fault, the artist formerly known as Ranger Joe offered Kimmy one of his classic pep talks, even offering to walk her down the aisle if her parents also skip the wedding. Cue the waterworks! “That was a beautiful moment,” Barber says. “Joey and Kimmy have always been the sidekicks. They’re the funny people without emotions who just provide one-liners and bring comic relief. You don’t get many chances to see these characters get emotional, and this was a perfect chance to talk about why Joey and Kimmy were around so much. Joey and Kimmy didn’t have great connections with their biological family, so they went to the Tanners to get that love they’d been seeking all of their lives. It was so great to finally connect these dots and connect these characters to each other.” Barber said it was “easy to bring those emotions,” but the difficulty came in striking the right balance. “I didn’t want to break down crying, because that would have been a little much for Kimmy Gibbler. It was about finding that restraint in how much emotion to really show — enough to let the viewers know that this is real, that this is a big deal to Kimmy. It was such a sweet moment between Dave and I. I will cherish that scene for the rest of my life.” “It seems kind of weird to say, because it’s just a TV show, but it really has been 30 years of our lives,” Candace Cameron Bure tells TVLine. “We, as the original cast, are so protective of the show and those moments. They really do mean a lot to us. And of course we love each other, so it’s really easy to play the emotional scenes. Those are the scenes that really make the show. That’s what Full House was all about, too — those touching moments where you learn a lesson or you get a hug or you’re going through a hard time and someone consoles you.” We’ll have more coverage on Fuller House‘s final season as the week rolls on. For now, grade the premiere below and drop a comment with your full(er) review. We already said goodbye to 101 TV shows this year… and next year won’t be any easier, apparently. Earlier this month, IFC and Syfy announced final seasons for Brockmire and Van Helsing, respectively, which are just two of nearly 40 shows that will end in 2020. To help you keep track of the shows that are concluding next year, we’ve compiled the handy attached gallery, which includes a running list of the broadcast, cable and streaming series that will soon say goodbye. By the looks of it, 2020 will be a doozy for television fans, as long-running staples like Supernatural, Criminal Minds and Modern Family are preparing to go off the air. Others, however, are closing up shop after just a handful of seasons, such as Netflix’s GLOW, NBC’s The Good Place and Hulu’s Future Man, to name a few. Speaking of Netflix, it currently boasts the largest tally of soon-to-be-wrapped series with 12 in total, from teen drama 13 Reasons Why to family sitcom Fuller House to foreign-language thrillers like Dark and The Rain. We’ll keep updating this list as more 2020 finales are announced, so be sure to bookmark this page. In the meantime, scroll through the attached gallery — or click here for direct access — to see which shows will end in the new year, then drop a comment with the titles you’ll miss most. Michelle Tanner may not have shown either of her faces in Fuller House‘s fifth season, but thanks to a steady stream of shout-outs, she was never far from our minds. The first mention of the elusive third Tanner sister came in the Season 5 premiere, when D.J. and Kimmy’s kids were sorting through the attic. Max explained that he learned about their family’s history through eight years of carefully curated home videos (“It’s almost like a TV show…”), concluding with the time “Aunt Michelle got amnesia” after falling off her horse. Good times, good times. Michelle came up again — though not by name — in the midseason finale, when Danny congratulated D.J., Stephanie and Kimmy on their triple engagements. “You know, it’s so nice to have three daughters again,” he joked. Series creator (and former showrunner) Jeff Franklin confirmed to TVLine back in Season 3 that he stopped asking Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen if they were interested in reprising their iconic role. “The door is open, but I’m not going to be calling them anymore to invite them,” he explained. “They just don’t seem interested in coming. It’s been three years of invitations, so they know the door is open. It’s up to them to decide if they want to come play or not.” And now, Candace Cameron Bure has confirmed to TVLine that no invitations were extended for the comedy’s final season, which wrapped production last month. “We did not reach out to them,” she said. “It was very clear several seasons ago that they did not want to do it.” Nine more episodes remain in Fuller House‘s fifth and final season, but considering filming is already complete, it’s highly unlikely that Michelle will be paying her family a surprise visit in San Francisco. (Let’s just pretend she’s enjoying a nice long vacation… with Aunt Becky.) Are you disappointed that Michelle never made an appearance on Fuller House? Drop a comment with your thoughts below. The first half of Fuller House‘s final season is loaded with fun guest stars, from ’90s icon Lisa Loeb to Dancing duo Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy. But no cameo will excite fans — especially fans named Kimmy Gibbler — as much as Candace Cameron Bure‘s real-life brother Kirk Cameron, who plays himself in Episode 8. “It was an interesting week,” Bure, who also directed that episode, tells TVLine. “A lot of names were going around [for Kimmy’s celebrity crush], and when I threw my brother’s name into the hat, everybody thought it was a great idea. But it kind of came down to the wire. I called him, and he was like, ‘I’d totally be game, but I’m working.’ Even with a few scheduling adjustments, it almost didn’t happen. But we finally figured it out, and I could not have been happier that he did the show. It felt so full-circle with him doing an episode of the new series, having already done an episode of the original. It was a dream for me to direct my brother.” And for the record, yes, Bure is fully aware that her brother played a different character on Full House; he guest-starred in a Season 1 episode as D.J.’s cool older cousin, Steve. “Honestly, we didn’t even care,” Bure admits. “I know he played Cousin Steve, but we’ve broken the fourth wall on our show so many times, and I think the fans will appreciate it more than they’ll [complain] about it.” Did you enjoy Cameron’s surprise appearance? And what are your thoughts on (the first half of) Fuller House‘s final season thus far? Drop ’em all in a comment below. That San Francisco townhouse is getting awfully crowded in Fuller House‘s final season… minus one notable absence. Netflix has released a trailer for the first half of Season 5 — debuting Friday, Dec. 6 on the streamer — and there are lots of big life milestones in the air: Stephanie and Jimmy bring their new (and still unnamed) baby home from the hospital, while D.J. and Steve consider walking down the aisle. “There’s gonna be a lot of people in this house,” Ramona — who gets a new love interest this season, too — notes. “You know, legally, if three more people move in, we have to register as a commune.” There’s still plenty of room for guest stars, of course, like original Full House stars Bob Saget, John Stamos and Dave Coulier, who all make a cameo in the Season 5 trailer. But we don’t see a glimpse, or hear a mention, of Aunt Becky — played by Lori Loughlin, who was named along with Felicity Huffman in this year’s college admissions scandal. (TVLine reported back in March that Loughlin would likely not appear in Fuller House‘s final season, in light of the scandal.) Press PLAY above for a sneak peek at Fuller House‘s final episodes, and then hit the comments and tell us what you’re most looking forward to seeing. Fuller House will be a bit less full in its fifth and final season due to the (presumed) absence of TV’s erstwhile Aunt Becky. As previously reported, there are currently no plans for embattled actress Lori Loughlin to reprise her role as longtime Wake Up, San Francisco cohost Rebecca Donaldson-Katsopolis during the Full House spinoff’s farewell run, a part she has played for a combined 11 seasons. In the wake of her well-publicized college bribery scheme, Loughlin has already been let go by Hallmark Channel, which is currently attempting to plot a future without the star of its wholesome When Calls the Heart drama and Garage Sale Mystery TV-movies. Considering that Loughlin has recurred throughout Fuller House‘s previous four seasons, it’ll be awfully hard to explain why she’s suddenly stopped paying visits to her former home which still houses nieces D.J. and Stephanie, as well as their many precocious children. That’s where TVLine comes in! Having given it some thought, we’ve come up with six extremely meta exit strategies for Aunt Becky. (Admittedly, only some of these are feasible. In fact, most of them are in jest — so hold off on saying “How Rude!”) Peruse the attached gallery (or click here for direct access), then scroll down and tell us how you think Fuller House will explain the character’s sudden disappearance. Have mercy? Maybe not when it comes to Lori Loughlin‘s status on Fuller House‘s farewell season, in the wake of the actress being indicted for her alleged role in a wide-ranging college admissions bribery scheme. As Hallmark Channel plots a future without the star of its wholesome When Calls the Heart drama and Garage Sale Mystery TV-movie series, sources tell TVLine that there are currently no plans for the embattled Loughlin to reprise her role as Aunt Becky during Fuller House‘s fifth and final season, which has yet to start production and will premiere on Netflix this fall. A star of progenitor Full House, Loughlin guest-starred on the Warner Bros. TV-produced follow-up during its first four seasons, the most recent of which hit Netflix in December. Crown Media announced on Thursday that it had “stopped development of all productions” involving Loughlin, after which Hallmark Channel pulled the March 17 episode of When Calls the Heart from its lineup, as it considers “creative options” for the well-performing series moving forward. Loughlin turned herself over to authorities on March 13 after being indicted for allegedly taking part in a large scheme involving parents who paid bribes of up to $ 6 million to get their kids into elite colleges, including Yale and Georgetown. Loughlin, her husband Mossimo Giannulli and dozens of other parents — including Desperate Housewives alumna Felicity Huffman — allegedly bribed college entrance-exam administrators (to allow cheating on the tests) and university athletic coaches (to designate school applicants as athletic recruits, regardless of their athletic ability or experience playing a sport). Loughlin and Giannulli allegedly paid a total of $ 500,000 so that their two daughters would be designated as recruits to the University of Southern California’s crew team, though neither girl participated in the sport. Loughlin was released from custody on $ 1 million bail, with a judge ruling that she could travel for work as long as she informs the court where she’s going and how long she’ll be away.

Tuesday’s premiere also touched upon the changes that would inherently come with Steve moving into the Fuller house. Steve did his best to assure Jackson that he wasn’t trying to replace his dad, but DJ’s oldest son drew his own conclusions when he thought she was getting rid of Tommy Sr.’s nice suit. Steve remedied the situation by having the suit tailored to fit Jackson, leading to an engagement party entrance DJ will never forget.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug and the world’s leading cause of midlife crises. It makes otherwise rational entities do things like blow their retirement savings on sports cars, undergo unnecessary cosmetic surgery or, in Netflix’s case: renew the Full House reboot, Fuller House, for an extra four seasons after everybody stopped caring. But that ends in 2019.
The show’s fifth season will be its last, according to a report Friday by Variety. “We’re saving the best for last,” Candace Cameron-Bure, DJ Tanner on the show, told fans in a video released on social media. Netflix initially greenlit the series in 2015 and began airing episodes the following year to rave reviews. However, viewership took a nosedive at the start of the second season and never managed to recover. Still, that didn’t stop the streaming service from pumping funding into the show, renewing the current Season 4 just last January. The final season will begin airing later this fall.
