Dell’s XPS 13 laptop has been a staple among Windows ultralights, typically offering decent performance for the price, extreme portability, and good looks.

Apparently, that wasn’t enough for Dell, so it released the Dell XPS 13 Plus. Introduced this year (alongside a more traditional 2022 XPS 13), it’s a revamped version of the XPS 13 that puts performance over everything else.

Wild design choices allow the system to support a 28 W CPU. With the 2021 XPS 13 carrying a 15 W chip and the 2022 XPS 13 supporting up to a 12 W one, this is a notable achievement. But it’s also a case of function over form. To put it simply, using the XPS 13 Plus felt weird. From its tightly spaced keys and capacitive touch function row to its minimal port selection, questionable build quality, and extremely high temperatures, this machine can be frustrating to use for daily tasks.

Outlander: Claire Fraser star exposes ‘frustrating’ filming moments ‘Very little warning’ https://briefnews.eu/outlander-claire-fraser-star-exposes-frustrating-filming-moments-very-little-warning/ https://briefnews.eu/outlander-claire-fraser-star-exposes-frustrating-filming-moments-very-little-warning/#respond Sun, 11 Oct 2020 04:04:31 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/outlander-claire-fraser-star-exposes-frustrating-filming-moments-very-little-warning/

“You have your own personal shame and vanity and all of those things and you try to leave those at the door but you also know that if you feel insecure, that’s going to hamper your ability to lose yourself in a scene.

“So it is always this thing to constantly battle with, between leaving my sh*t at the door and also giving myself I guess, enough confidence to be able to walk into those scenes and not have to think about whether or not I have cellulite on my a** or whatever.”

She continued: “These things are what run through your head and it’s, we’re not unflawed people and it’s hard sometimes to live up to the fact that sometimes you are given very little warning of when you are going to shoot these scenes.”

Detailing how this can be “quite frustrating,” Caitriona told podcast Outcasts: “Sometimes these scenes can be thrown on your with two days notice.

BBC backlash as viewers slam Dan Walker interview with Matt Hancock ‘so frustrating!’ https://briefnews.eu/bbc-backlash-as-viewers-slam-dan-walker-interview-with-matt-hancock-so-frustrating/ https://briefnews.eu/bbc-backlash-as-viewers-slam-dan-walker-interview-with-matt-hancock-so-frustrating/#respond Wed, 19 Aug 2020 20:27:40 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/bbc-backlash-as-viewers-slam-dan-walker-interview-with-matt-hancock-so-frustrating/

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker was the one who took charge of the interview with Matt Hancock this morning as he probed the Health Secretary over the Government’s latest response to the coronavirus pandemic. On the agenda for Walker were topics such as local lockdowns, the progression of track and trace and fines for those flouting lockdown. However, despite cutting Mr Hancock off during a debate about Leicester’s lockdown, BBC viewers felt Walker could’ve grilled the MP further.

There were a number of talking points to take away from Mr Hancock’s interview on BBC Breakfast this morning.

Arguably one the biggest, however, came when Walker probed the Health Secretary about the test and system and its efficiency.

Mr Hancock told BBC Breakfast: “Yes, the test and trace system is working very effectively,

“We set a goal that by the start of september, we should be able to reach 80 percent of the contacted positive cases, last week that figure was 79.7”

Other issues to catch the eye of viewers was Mr Hancock’s optimism surrounding Leicester’s response to the local lockdown – despite the fact places like Oldham may be entering similar scenarios of their own.

Mr Hancock also detailed to Walker his plans for “strengthening fines and enforcement available” against those flouting lockdown.

The MP revealed there were plans to “double” the toughness of the current fines.

Mr Hancock signed off the interview by defending the appointment of Dido Harding as “the best person who could be doing her job now”.

A third weighed in: “Dan I really like your work and I know you want to keep the govt coming on to @BBCBreakfast,

“But sometimes you have to be tougher. Today @MattHancock got away with murder – simple deflection and mispresentation of facts. It’s dispiriting to watch.”

While a fourth brutally added: “@BBCBreakfast Dan Walker demonstrates in his interview with Matt Hancock that he is a sports reporter, nothing else.”

With a fifth tweeting: “Where @BBCBreakfast fall down is they don’t go in for the kill. Dan should maybe have asked “Why is she absolutely the best person, given her long record of failure in previous jobs? Perhaps he should’ve also listed them.”

BBC Breakfast continues daily at 6am on BBC One.

The Masked Singer on FOX: Kitty star hits out at costume flaw ‘It was frustrating!’ https://briefnews.eu/the-masked-singer-on-fox-kitty-star-hits-out-at-costume-flaw-it-was-frustrating/ https://briefnews.eu/the-masked-singer-on-fox-kitty-star-hits-out-at-costume-flaw-it-was-frustrating/#respond Thu, 28 May 2020 06:01:20 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-masked-singer-on-fox-kitty-star-hits-out-at-costume-flaw-it-was-frustrating/

Many viewers were shocked when the Kitty was sent home and revealed as young classical singer Jackie Evancho in Week 13 of The Masked Singer.

Her stellar performance of Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black failed to win over the audience, and Jackie missed out on her chance to compete amongst the final three.

The singer’s elimination was just one of several upsets throughout this year’s outing of the celebrity talent show, as many felt performers like Jackie and the Turtle’s Jesse McCartney were more deserving of season three’s top prize.

Season three eventually unveiled its winner, the Night Angel, and unmasked Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss as the purple-clad diva.

Jackie Evancho will nevertheless be remembered as a highlight of the series thanks to her performances of Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend and Mama’s Broken Heart demonstrating her powerful vocals.

After she was sent home, Jackie sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the highs and lows of performance in head-to-toe cat fur for The Masked Singer.

During the interview, she revealed the unwieldy costume may have hampered some of her on-stage performances.

Jackie said: “It was very heavy and it was also really frustrating. I worried about being close to Nick Cannon on stage. I didn’t want to hit him with my feathers.”

Thanks to the series’ combination of elaborate costumes and cryptic clue videos, some of the celebrity singers were difficult to identify in the US iteration of the show’s third outing.

Jackie Evancho revealed she was very flattered when a popular theory speculated the Kitty could actually be Disney star Vanessa Hudgens.

EW asked: “Guesses about your identity were all over the board. What was your favourite?”

To which she responded: “It would probably have to be Vanessa Hudgens because I really admire her and think her showmanship is amazing.

“Her integrity for her job is amazing. So that was actually a huge compliment to me.”

Despite this, the series also received some criticism for featuring celebrities who were far too easy to guess, such as rapper Bow Wow who was heavily tipped to be under the Frog mask.

The celebrity pedigree is only set to improve in season four, so fans are looking forward to yet another round of cryptic clues and crazy theories coming soon.

The Masked Singer is hoped to return to Fox in Autumn 2020.

DWTS Judge Calls Sean Spicer’s Safety ‘Frustrating’ — So What’s Her Solution? https://briefnews.eu/dwts-judge-calls-sean-spicers-safety-frustrating-so-whats-her-solution/ https://briefnews.eu/dwts-judge-calls-sean-spicers-safety-frustrating-so-whats-her-solution/#respond Wed, 06 Nov 2019 19:32:44 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/dwts-judge-calls-sean-spicers-safety-frustrating-so-whats-her-solution/

After admitting on Monday’s Dancing With the Stars broadcast that she was “confused and a little irritated” by America’s vote, judge Carrie Ann Inaba is weighing in further on this unpredictable season — and the contestant who notably keeps sticking around.

Despite earning the lowest scores of any remaining Season 28 contestant, ex-White House press secretary Sean Spicer has continued to survive each cut. Not only has Spicer made it to the final six, but he’s never even found himself in jeopardy. Instead, well-scored hopefuls like model Sailor Brinkley-Cook, Queer Eye‘s Karamo Brown and, most recently, The Office alum Kate Flannery have been booted instead.

“My reaction to Sean being saved, it’s frustrating,” Inaba told Us Weekly after Monday’s episode. “There are really great dancers being sent home, but that is part of our show. It’s always been the audience and the judges’ perspective… I can’t be mad at it, but it’s frustrating.”

Following Bobby Bones’ surprising win last year, Dancing With the Stars tweaked its elimination format for Season 28: After the bottom two vote-getters are announced, the three judges — Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli — now choose which couple to save and which to send home.

But since the bottom two is decided by a combination of judges’ scores and America’s votes, Inaba argued that viewers simply need to be showing more support to the dancers who are improving each week.

“We want the people to be involved, and this is the way they are voting. It’s hard because sometimes I hear the feedback from the people. ‘Hey, why aren’t the best dancers staying in?’ Well, that’s up to you guys,” Inaba continued. “I’m doing my job, right? And people need to vote. So, I just hope that those who are frustrated with this happening as well vote as passionately as the people who support Sean.”

Still, some disgruntled fans on social media — and TVLine’s comments section — have argued the opposite perspective, urging the judges to give Spicer much lower scores in order to ensure he at least appears in the bottom two.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC, with the Season 28 finale set for Nov. 25. Do you agree with Inaba’s take on the Spicer situation?

What can you learn from six gross, frustrating, spectacular months of #vanlife? https://briefnews.eu/what-can-you-learn-from-six-gross-frustrating-spectacular-months-of-vanlife/ https://briefnews.eu/what-can-you-learn-from-six-gross-frustrating-spectacular-months-of-vanlife/#respond Wed, 20 Jun 2018 04:41:32 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/what-can-you-learn-from-six-gross-frustrating-spectacular-months-of-vanlife/

But oddly, as time passed, I began to feel more conspicuous when my curtains were up than when I was protected just by moderately tinted windows. People seem to be more willing to scrutinize a car in a parking lot with curtains than one that just looks like a car and, as a woman traveling alone, that made me nervous.

What else put my nerves on edge? An unexpected overnight snowstorm in late May in Fort Collins, Colorado. A slip and fall on a hiking trail near Bellingham, Washington, in which I severely sprained my tailbone. Driving an eight-hour stretch of desolate road in British Columbia where far too few gas stations kept far too limited hours.

Eventually, I got used to being constantly on display, to sleeping in parking lots, and to peeing in buckets. It didn’t matter that I rarely got to cook a meal, have a shower, or sleep in a real bed. Vanlife is gross, frustrating, lonely, and nowhere near as glamorous as Instagram would have to you believe.

But it also shifted my perspective on myself and my values, and tested the middle class urban identity I’d cultivated over the last decade. Without stuff, without excesses of cash, without a comfortable room to return to every night, vanlife taught me how to enjoy simple pleasures that I’d overlooked in regular life. It wasn’t easy, but it sure was worth it.

The Voice UK 2018: Fans FURIOUS with show over frustrating format ‘For f**k sake’ https://briefnews.eu/the-voice-uk-2018-fans-furious-with-show-over-frustrating-format-for-fk-sake/ https://briefnews.eu/the-voice-uk-2018-fans-furious-with-show-over-frustrating-format-for-fk-sake/#respond Sat, 13 Jan 2018 22:02:40 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-voice-uk-2018-fans-furious-with-show-over-frustrating-format-for-fk-sake/

The ITV reality series aired its second episode tonight, but the first segment flew by so quickly that fans were left crest-fallen when the first advert break had already rolled around after just 12 minutes.

To make matters worse, viewers were only treated to one act and the judges chatting about the evening before they were forced to sit through commercials for another five minutes.

First to try and impress the judges in a blind audition was Kade Smith, a 17-year-old window cleaner who joked that he’d dressed similarly to judge Olly Murs with the hope of impressing him.

Kade achieved four turns from the judging panel and decided on the hugely-successful music producer will.i.am to be his mentor, but the all-too-brief performance had fans racing to Twitter to complain.

One person wrote: “One act in and we go to commercial. F**k sake. #TheVoiceUK.”

“#TheVoiceUK #TheVoice one audition, ad break. Great,” another fan said.

A third asked: “One song one ad break – is this the way it’s gonna be? #TheVoiceUK,” followed by: “So #TheVoiceUK has been on 18 minutes and so far we’ve had one singer…”

Viewers continued to share their annoyance at the programme, as one person said: “Hope they are not going to keep putting the adverts on after each and every singer #TheVoiceUK #TheVoice.”

“Twenty minutes in and we’ve heard one audition. At this rate the final will be around Christmas! #TheVoiceUK,” another added.

Later, the episode saw 34-year-old singer Olly get hot-under-the-collar from sizzling female contestant Ivy Paige.

The cabaret and burlesque performer strutted onto stage in a busty red dress and fiery auburn hair, comparing herself to the iconic Who Framed Roger Rabbit? character Jessica Rabbit.

Completely taken aback by the hopeful’s sultry tones and powerful voice, Olly slammed his buzzer before struggling to contain himself in his seat.

As Ivy continued to flirt and tell the presenter that she “wanted him”, Olly even forgot his own name before managing to direct the starlet’s gaze towards the base of his seat.

“Well you have me,” Olly said with a cheeky smile before he suffered a technical blunder. “Oh, my mic has gone.”

“You can share mine,” the contestant brazenly offered, before the show eventually got back to business.

Unimpressed by the seemingly inappropriate exchange, fellow judge Jennifer Hudson took control of the situation, ordering: “Right you get back up there, and you sit down.”

The Voice UK continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.

2018 Jaguar F-Pace: Ambient lighting is fun and frustrating https://briefnews.eu/2018-jaguar-f-pace-ambient-lighting-is-fun-and-frustrating/ https://briefnews.eu/2018-jaguar-f-pace-ambient-lighting-is-fun-and-frustrating/#respond Sat, 30 Dec 2017 01:13:04 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/2018-jaguar-f-pace-ambient-lighting-is-fun-and-frustrating/

Like so many other automobiles from this decade, our long-term Jaguar F-Pacecrossover has customizable interior lighting, a part of the $ 2,350 Luxury Interior Package. I’ve previously admitted to the fact that ambient lighting has me split in opinion. On the one hand I know that it’s probably going to end up being dated and uncool in the future. On the other, I actually quite enjoy it, possibly because I grew up in the neon-fueled world of early ’00s import tuner culture. I also like it from a color-coordination perspective. Our Jaguar’s bold blue hue called Caesium can be brought inside with equally bright illumination. It’s very satisfying.

But that satisfaction of having everything just so is quickly sullied as the center stack and switches are only one color that can’t be changed. Admittedly, that’s completely normal, but unlike many of those other cars that use neutral white illumination, the Jag’s light up in the same blue/teal color that made your Razr phone look cool so many years ago. And so whether you bathe your cabin in blue, red, purple or green light, the ambient lighting will clash with the main switch gear. You can pick a shade of blue for the ambient lighting that roughly matches the switches, but I don’t want to compromise my color preference because Jaguar didn’t put in LEDs in that would be neutral (or, even better, change to match the ambient settings).

I have other complaints about color-matching in the car, too. The instrument panel, which is a flat screen, has a few different display modes, but most of the readouts use a similar (but not quite the same) blue/teal color as the switchgear. So that doesn’t match, either.

Then, in the sport mode, the instrument screen switches to red. That brings me to my next gripe: all the ambient lighting switches to red when choosing this mode. I get it, red means sporty and Jaguar wants everything about sport mode to feel sporty. But damn it, I paid for custom lighting, let me keep that lighting when I’m also in a sporty mood. I actually sometimes skip the sport mode because I want to be swathed in my favorite hue more than I want slightly more sporty driving dynamics. Oh, and of course the switchgear remains teal/blue even in sport mode.

So yes, this is picky. But that’s the beauty of evaluating a car like the F-Pace over a longer period of time. Sure, we’ll obviously touch on things like the excellent powertrain, but we also get to notice those little things that can drive owners nuts — or make them fall even deeper in love with their car. After all, despite everything I’ve said, I would still add ambient lighting to my F-Pace if I were to buy one. It just makes it feel a little more personal and fun. I just wish Jaguar put a little extra effort into it.

Cruise news: Companies to SCRAP Majorca from schedules for THIS frustrating reason https://briefnews.eu/cruise-news-companies-to-scrap-majorca-from-schedules-for-this-frustrating-reason/ https://briefnews.eu/cruise-news-companies-to-scrap-majorca-from-schedules-for-this-frustrating-reason/#respond Fri, 24 Nov 2017 23:25:23 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/cruise-news-companies-to-scrap-majorca-from-schedules-for-this-frustrating-reason/

CRUISE stops in Majorca and Ibiza may soon be a thing of the past thanks to a battle between tourist organisations and the Balearic government.

The Balearic Islands, a group of islands including Formentera, Ibiza, Menorca and Majorca, has long been a haven for tourists.

However, the government last summer announced they were doubling their controversial tourist tax, forcing holidaymakers to pay up to €4 extra a day.

Previously, cruise passengers were exempt from this tax as long as they were on land for less than 12 hours.

However, the proposed changes will force them to pay €2 a day – ignoring the fact they are there for less than a day period.

Now, according to Balearic press, the Cruise Lines International Association, the largest body of its kind in the world, has threatened legal action against the Balearic government.

The line looks after a number of cruise companies such as Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Tui, which often bring visitors to the island.

It has dubbed the tax illegal and urged the government to change its mind, warning that liners might go elsewhere if the tax comes in.

The changes are planned to come in to effect during the summer of 2018, unless something changes in the mean time.

It could encourage tourists to travel to rival holiday destinations such as Turkey and Greece.

Turkey was recently announced as the third most popular holiday destination for Britons this summer, despite terrorist activity earlier this year.

It is home to Istanbul, a popular city for tourists to visit because of its rich cultural history.

Earlier this year, the Balearic tourism chief Biel Barcelo also announced a campaign to tackle unruly behaviour on the Balearic islands.

He said: “The tourism sector must also collaborate to improve tourism and to improve our image and the first step to collaborate is to comply with the rules.”

While it is unclear what these rules are, it is likely they will apply to the party image associated with the island.

This might include restrictions on what constitutes acceptable public behaviour and stricter alcohol laws.

Langer: Pitch call flat out frustrating https://briefnews.eu/langer-pitch-call-flat-out-frustrating/ https://briefnews.eu/langer-pitch-call-flat-out-frustrating/#respond Tue, 17 Oct 2017 07:54:53 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/langer-pitch-call-flat-out-frustrating/ Courageous Test great Justin Langer has spoken out against the North Sydney Oval pitch farce, expressing his disappointment that modern day cricket has gone flat.

Langer built a reputation on being one of the toughest batsmen to play the game, and as one of the leading coaches in the country he disagrees with the game’s apparent watering down of anything resembling trying conditions for run-makers.

WA played on a different North Sydney wicket on Tuesday without incident, pummelling the Cricket Australia XI to march straight into Saturday’s one-day cup final, where they will play either Victoria or South Australia.

WARNER: Let the sledging begin!

Langer admits he can’t speak to whether or not the pitch that resulted in a NSW v Victoria match being controversially abandoned on Sunday was “dangerous”, but he’s sceptical of it being just another instance of the warrior elements of batting and the skill of bowlers being wiped out.

“It seemed really strange. They played, what, 69 overs and then called it? I’ve said this for a very long time — all cricket can’t be played on really flat wickets,” said Langer, renowned for a series of Test knocks where he copped physical punishment from bowlers, only to keep putting his gloves up.

“If you look at most of the results just in this tournament, most of them have been 250 to 300- run games.

“There’s got to be something there for the bowlers. I actually think it makes for entertaining cricket where it’s an even contest. I can’t comment on whether it was dangerous or not but it did seem strange that it got to the 69-over mark.”

Umpires made the call to abandon the NSW contest after a series of short balls late in the piece jumped off a particularly nasty patch on the pitch that both Blues and Victorian bowlers had been targeting all day.

Langer doesn’t see that as dangerous practice by bowlers, but rather smart tactics that should be rewarded by a game that now seems to have every advantage stacked in favour of the batter.

“I’ve heard theories that bowlers were targeting one specific area but that’s bloody good cricket,” Langer said.

“Bowlers bowling into rough — it’s like (spin) bowlers bowling into rough on the subcontinent.

“Some of Shane Warne’s greatest moments came when he was bowling at those areas. If bowlers are good enough to do that then to me, that’s really clever cricket. I wasn’t here. I didn’t see it. I heard about it obviously — it was disappointing.”

Langer’s frustration mirrors many in the game who are upset the characteristics of iconic pitches like the SCG, the WACA and Adelaide Oval have been lost over the years, with wickets becoming almost uniform across the country.

In the opinion of many former greats, Australia’s disastrous record overseas has been contributed to by batsmen not being exposed to tough conditions at home soil that can prepare them mentally and physically for variables like subcontinental spin or UK swing
