The Federal Bureau of Investigation has added GirlsDoPorn founder Michael James Pratt to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, nearly three years after he was charged with sex trafficking in a US federal court in California. The FBI is now offering a reward of $ 100,000 for information leading to his arrest, up from $ 10,000 it offered in September 2020.

Pratt is wanted “for his alleged involvement in sex trafficking and production of child pornography,” the FBI said yesterday. Pratt and others who did not evade capture were accused of “a conspiracy to recruit young adult women and minor girls to engage in commercial sex acts by force, fraud, and coercion.”

From 2012 to 2019, Pratt owned and operated GirlsDoPorn and GirlsDoToys, which generated more than $ 17 million in revenue, the FBI said. “Locating Pratt is a high priority for the FBI in order to stop him from victimizing anyone else,” Special Agent in Charge Stacey Moy said.

  • A judge refused to delay the upcoming trial of Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes.
  • Judge Amit Mehta said arguments for the delay were "incorrect" and "bewildering."
  • Mehta also declined to allow Rhodes to fire his lawyers, creating a potentially awkward arrangement.

From the outset of a court hearing Wednesday, Judge Amit Mehta made himself clear: He was not amused with Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes' request to fire his defense team and delay his upcoming trial on charges related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.

In a nearly 15-minute diatribe, Mehta denounced Rhodes over "incorrect and, frankly, bewildering" claims the far-right group's former leader made a day earlier in a request to replace his defense lawyers and push back his trial — currently set to start on September 26 — by three months. Mehta, an Obama appointee confirmed in 2014, flatly rejected those requests following an extended rebuke of Rhodes' suggestion that he could not receive a fair trial.

"The very first allegation is that somehow Mr. Rhodes is not receiving a fair trial, and that is unequivocally false," Mehta said.

Mehta convened the hearing a day after Rhodes, in a 20-page court filing a day earlier, asked to replace his Dallas-based defense team with a new lawyer, Ed Tarpley. Rhodes is set to stand trial alongside four other members of the Oath Keepers accused of plotting to storm the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and disrupt the certification of the 2020 election results.

Rhodes cited a "breakdown" in communication with the attorneys who have represented him since his January incident on a seditious conspiracy charge and other allegations tied to the Capitol attack. Through Tarpley, Rhodes argued he has still yet to receive most of the discovery — or relevant evidence — from the Justice Department.

But Mehta said that, until Tuesday's filing, he had not heard a "peep" from Rhodes about any "disenchantment" with his defense team. The judge said Rhodes' defense lawyers for the past nine months, James Lee Bright and Phillip Linder, have displayed not only competence but also leadership in helping other Oath Keepers and their lawyers ahead of the trial, which is expected to last several weeks.

"Not once has he complained one iota about his lawyers," Mehta said.

"Mr. Linder and Mr. Bright are going to be at that table representing Mr. Rhodes at trial in three weeks," he added. "Period. Full stop. End of story."

Mehta suggested that Rhodes would have more easily communicated with lawyers based in the Washington, DC, area, where he has been detained since January but instead hired the Texas-based duo of Bright and Linder.

"That was his choice," Mehta said.

Mehta similarly dismissed Rhodes' claims that he lacked access to crucial evidence in his case. Rhodes, he said, has received "every dispensation," including biweekly sessions in which he is allowed to review evidence at the courthouse for hours.

"No other defendant is getting that kind of accommodation. No one," Mehta said, adding that federal prosecutors have "bent over backwards, as far as I'm concerned," to provide Rhodes with discovery to which he's entitled.

Mehta's ruling thrust Linder and Bright into the awkward position of continuing to represent Rhodes after he, with Tarpley, publicly criticized their work in a court filing. Bright appeared particularly concerned about the future of the engagement, saying the Tuesday filing suggested a "lack of trust."

"Perhaps it is a broken relationship, your honor," Bright said.

"I truly wish him the best," he added. "I've given seven months of my life to Mr. Rhodes. I've missed sporting events. I've missed time with my family for a man I don't know. I'm prepared to come to DC for six weeks away from my children."

At one point, Bright said he didn't want to work alongside Tarpley. But Mehta said he would allow Tarpley to take part in the case so long as Rhodes and the other lawyers agreed.

"We can make room," Mehta said. "We have enough tables."

Mehta said he would not allow Rhodes to wreak "havoc" in the case or his calendar as he and other judges in Washington, DC, confront a flood of prosecutions stemming from the Capitol attack. If he granted a delay, Mehta said, his schedule would not open for Rhodes' trial until next summer.

"January 6 has created a massive traffic jam of cases," Mehta said. "That is just the reality of it."

Kate McKinnon will no longer be stepping into the role of disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, our sister site Deadline reports.

The Saturday Night Live staple was set to play Holmes in The Dropout, a Hulu limited series based on the ABC News podcast of the same name. Good Morning Britain wasn’t on television screens for long this morning because of the Rugby World Cup coverage, but during the two hours it did air, presenter Piers Morgan caused a storm when he got into an extremely heated debate with the Extinction Rebellion founder over the climate change protests which are currently dominating the streets of London.

Members of Extinction Rebellion, an environmental pressure group with the aim of using civil disobedience to compel government action on climate change, were shown on a live video interview with two protestors who had been on the streets of the capital city since 6am this morning.

Piers and Susanna they were joined by Skeena Rathor, a Labour district councillor and member of Extinction Rebellion as well as former Metropolitan police Chief Mike Neville in the studio. 

Piers was keen to ascertain whether or not Skeena “practiced what she preached“ and if protestors should focus on reducing their own carbon footprint in order to make a bigger impact, instead of blocking streets, causing widespread disruption and taking up police resources. 

But it quickly became apparent to those watching at home how Skeena had made a u-turn in regards to her own opinion and Piers was quick to brand her a “hypocrite”. 

After showing the guests a series of videos and images of protestors dancing in the street, and queuing up to order food in McDonalds, Piers remarked: “I don’t hear any protests.”

Skeena argued how there were over 600 arrests within the first two days of the event, despite claiming it to be a “mass peaceful non-violent protest”. 

“Why are you [protestors] wasting police resources? Why provoke the Metropolitan police who are already under so much pressure?” Susanna asked. 

“The government are not listening,” Skeena said. “The public need to be told the truth. We want to disrupt business as usual.”  

Piers then turned to Skeena and said: “How did you get here this morning?” 

“Your [GMB] car picked me up,” she commented and then he turned his attention to finding out whether she engaged in as many eco-friendly practices as she encouraged others to do. 

“Ok, in a car. Have you got a TV at home?” Piers continued and Skeena asked: “Can you tell me the point you’re trying to make Piers?”

“Answer my question! Do you have a TV at home?” The presenter said, but Skeena diverted: “Again Piers we’re not talking about the real issue. I don’t think that’s relevant.” 

“With respect, answer my question, do you have a TV at home? Do your kids use iPads and computers? Yes or no? Can you answer these questions? Do you walk your kids to school?” Piers grilled. 

After strumbling over a few words, Skeena said: “It’s not relevant to the planet emergency.” 

“Do you see the problem with all this? You go on about ‘My kids can’t get out of bed because they’re all so terrified,’ I’m not surprised they’re terrified because your mum’s telling them everyday the planet’s about to end, and yet, I bet your own carbon footprint, for all the stuff I’ve just mentioned is terrible,” Piers added. 

“So why don’t you give up your computers, give up your television, give up your air conditioning, walk your kids to school, get a bike to the studio. Why don’t you practice what you preach!” The presenter raged. 

“It’s not about individual carbon footprint,” Skeena remarked.

“You bang on about it, but you do not practice what you preach! Hypocritical lies! Start with your own carbon footprint, but you do one thing and say another,” Piers hit back. 

But Skeena defended: “It’s about a system wide issue, the government telling the truth.” 

“Prince Harry said everyone’s footprint counts, is he wrong?” Piers introduced into the debate. 

When Skeena finally said no to his question, Piers exploded with confusion: “You just said it [personal carbon footprint] doesn’t count in terms of solving the issue? You literally just said the opposite!” 

Skeena tried to explain the u-turn she just made, but Piers was having none of it. “Try answering one serious question. 

“It’s my show, with Susanna and Charlotte. Can you please stop talking? You’re not answering a single question! Does your personal carbon footprint matter or not?”

No matter how many times Piers raged at the guest with the same question, she refused to answer. 

“You won’t answer my question!” The journalist remarked. “Answer the question! You just said everyone’s footprint doesn’t count. Unbelievable. I’m really frustrated.” 

“When Prince Harry said every footprint counts -“ Piers referred back to his original point but was cut off when Skeena said: “Everything we do does matter!” 

“Total waste of time!” Piers hit back. “You are guzzling and burning up the atmosphere. Rank hypocrite, that’s why you won’t answer the question.” 

“How many times do I have to ask a simple question,” he added. 

After several attempts, Mike finally got to have a word and said: “Hundreds of police officers are sitting around waiting, they are sat in Central London unable to fight crime, investigate burglaries and knife crime.”

After the debate finished the breakfast show went to an advertisement break, and when it returned, Piers added: “I would respect you [Skeena] more if you just admitted it.” 

Those watching at home were divided over the behaviour shown by Piers and the intense grilling he gave the guest. 

Nevertheless, it sparked great conversation online. One tweet said: “@piersmorgan on fire this morning on @GMB! These protestors do need to practice what they preach! If every single persons ‘carbon footprint’ is important then DON’T do the things you are protesting about! #gmb.” 

A second remarked: “@piersmorgan ripping into #ExtinctionRebellion founder this morning and quite right so, such a hypocrite, causing chaos, wasting police rehouses yet her own carbon footprint is no different to anyone else’s #GMB #Hypocrite.”

“@piersmorgan go on Piers! About time someone grilled these hypocrites #GMB,” another added.

Someone else said: “These eco worries worries believe that they can take a couple of weeks off work to disrupt ordinary people who need to go to work. Well done @piersmorgan challenging well #GMB.” 

While others were less convinced about Piers’ approach to interviewing. 

“How can @piersmoran get away with speaking to people like that #gmb,” one commented. 

Another added: “You’re asking questions that are not relevant to her protest Piers, you’re trying to make her cause seem daft #gmb.” 

“#GMB learnt absolutely nothing about her protest… let her speak,” someone else remarked.

Today is the third day the Extinction Rebellion demonstrations take place in London. 

Nearly 600 people were arrested on the first two days of the group’s two-week protest, with activists attaching themselves to building and blocking roads.

In his final appearance as the group’s public face, McInnes argued that he “was never the leader, only the founder” and that the term “stepping down” cannot apply to him.

Regarding his motivations for ditching the group, McInnes said that he was told by his lawyers that him disowning the group could help “alleviate sentencing” for nine members of the group who were arrested by the NYPD following a brawl with Antifa in October. The clash erupted outside the NYC Republican headquarters with both sides engaging in acts of violence. Three left-wing activists were subsequently arrested on misdemeanor assault charges.

McInnes said that, while he was following the lawyers’ advice, he was doing “all of this reluctantly,” blaming “terrible journalism, rumors and lies” for penetrating the court system and demonizing the group.

The Left needed to provide an example of a right-wing mob. In other words, the DNC needed the story, the Antifa happily did their bidding and the media was only too happy to get it out there.

Taking aim at establishment Democrats, McInnes argued that the real “crime” that triggered “this propaganda firestorm” was “mocking socialist Democrats.”

McInnes, who has previously sought to distance himself from white nationalism and the so-called alt-right, reiterated that the Proud Boys have no links to either white supremacism or nationalism, a notion which has been refuted by many of the group’s opponents.

“This whole idea of white nationalism and white supremacy is a cruck. Why are we talking about this so much? Such people do not exist,” McInnes said.

Along with labeling the group extremist, the FBI gave warning about the group’s active recruitment efforts in the Pacific Northwest, accusing its members of fueling violence across the country, and in particular at college campuses.

McInnes slammed the FBI’s profiling, arguing that that the Proud Boys have “no agenda” and that “there is no recruitment.” He claimed that the group even had to deny membership to some applicants and has no intention to expand its base.

“We are not a gang,” McInnes said.

The Proud Boys were founded in 2016, and since then its black-clad members have become a frequent sight at right-wing events and marches. The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies them as a “hate group.”

Wales spoke to Business Insider after being named in the UK Tech 100, a ranking of the 100 coolest people in the UK tech industry.

Tech 100 logoWikipedia founder Jimmy Wales has some grudging respect for Donald Trump — but he thinks a backlash against the US president is coming.

Wales, who has been named in Business Insider’s UK Tech 100, said he does not necessarily buy into the narrative that Trump is not very smart.

He said the former star of “The Apprentice” deserves credit for his achievement in reaching the highest office in America and maintaining his core base of support.

  • In a September 5th interview with Reid Hoffman on the Masters of Scale podcast, Instagram cofounder and then CEO Kevin Systrom spoke about his vision for the company — and it might have hinted at the reasons behind his recent departure.
  • Facebook’s recent handling of Instagram is rumored to have been a headache for Systrom and fellow Instagram cofounder Mike Krieger. In a few interviews before his announcement, Systrom discussed how the initial relationship with Facebook was mutually beneficial, and crucial for Instagram’s growth. 
  • The pair didn’t provide a reason for quitting, however, and have yet to give an interview since the announcement.

On Monday, Instagram cofounders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger made the unexpected announcement that they would be leaving the company in the the coming weeks.

They didn’t provide a reason for quitting, but in the last interviews he gave before announcing his departure, Systrom may have hinted at why he and Krieger decided to leave the company.
