The Greatest Dancer presenter has had electrifying chemistry with her co-host Jordan Banjo on the brand new BBC dance competition this year.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge has even revealed the show’s producers have given her and Jordan free reign to go “off-script” when it comes to their jokes and comments.

While the pair were having fun on tonight’s show however, viewers were more interested in Alesha’s outfit choice.

The star had appeared with what appeared to be just a jacket on, with her legs bare.

The figure-hugging red jacket fit the singer perfectly, and her toned pins were incredible on display.

But many took to Twitter to comment on the unusual outfit choice, even wondering if she’d forgotten the rest of her outfit.

One person asked: “Did Alesha Dixon forget the bottom part of her outfit tonight??? #GreatestDancer.”

“Did Alesha forget her bottoms. Not a good look for a family show. #GreatestDancer,” another complained.

A third joked: “Sooo excited by the #GreatestDancer final, not as excited as Alesha though – at least I’ve still got my trousers on!”

While a fourth praised: “Best thing tonight was Alesha Dixon legs on #GreatestDancer.”

“Has Alesha forgotten the trousers to go with her jacket?” a fifth added.

Viewers continued to comment on the choice, as they kept noticing the outfit throughout the final.

“#GreatestDancer Alesha seems to be missing half of her outfit,” one person noted.

Another quipped: “Dancing aside… did Alesha run out of time to get dressed…!! #GreatestDancer.”

“ffs Alesha – did you forget to put your bottoms on?!! #SackTheStylist #GreatestDancer,” a third said.

The Greatest Dancer is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now.

30 stars you totally forgot were on ‘Cheers’ https://briefnews.eu/30-stars-you-totally-forgot-were-on-cheers-2/ https://briefnews.eu/30-stars-you-totally-forgot-were-on-cheers-2/#respond Fri, 04 Jan 2019 15:25:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/30-stars-you-totally-forgot-were-on-cheers-2/ Lisa Kudrow, John Kerry, and Emma ThompsonLOUAI BESHARA/AFP/Getty Images and Stuart C. • “Cheers” is one of the longest-running sitcoms of all time, with 275 episodes and 11 seasons.
  • Over those 11 years, many famous faces walked through the front door of “Cheers.”
  • Here are 30 of the most memorable celebrity guest stars and cameos.

Sometimes, you really do just want to go where everybody knows your name. And for 11 years, the Boston bar Cheers was that place for a cast of lovable misfits.

You had Sam, the owner of the bar and recovering alcoholic, and Diane, his love interest and a pretentious waitress. And when she left, you had the neurotic bar manager, Rebecca, take her place. There was Coach and Woody, both very dim but well-meaning bartenders, and Carla, the tough waitress who never held back her true feelings. And to round out the cast, there was Cliff, a trivia-spouting postman, Norm, who complained about his wife but loved her dearly, and Frasier, a therapist.

Besides your core cast, there were many people who walked through Cheers only once or twice, never to be heard from again. And some of those people were extremely famous, like Emma Thompson, Lisa Kudrow, and Dick Cavett.

Keep scrolling to see 30 celebs you totally forgot appeared on “Cheers.”

Thirteen years before starring in “Nanny McPhee,” Emma Thompson appeared in a season 10 episode as the children’s entertainer Nanny Gee.

NBC

Thompson’s character was Frasier’s heretofore unmentioned first wife — which was revealed when he went to one of Nanny Gee’s children’s shows with his current wife, Lillith, and their son Frederick. It became quite clear that Nanny Gee (real name Nanette) wasn’t fully over her ex-husband.

Frasier and Lillith’s off-and-on relationship ran through eight seasons of “Cheers,” and nine seasons of Frasier’s spin-off, “Frasier,” so it was always delightful to learn something about their lives before they wandered into Cheers, including never-before-mentioned first wives.

“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek appeared as himself when one of the bar’s most “knowledgeable” patrons appeared on the game show.

NBC

Cliff, a postal worker, and his best friend, Norm, an oft-unemployed accountant, strolled into the bar every day, and hijinks ensued. While Norm was the more practical, street-smart one, Cliff was known for spouting off (mostly wrong) trivia and facts about any subject.

However, in a season eight episode, Cliff was able to show off his trivia expertise on an episode of “Jeopardy!” He almost won but answered the Final Jeopardy question incorrectly after wagering all his winnings, making him verbally attack the “Jeopardy!” host.

Trebek later stopped by Cheers and made amends with Cliff.

Marcia Cross played Rebecca’s sister in season seven.

NBC

After Diane left the show, Rebecca, played by Kirstie Alley, was brought in to replace her in season six. As time went on and viewers became fond of Rebecca, more was revealed about her back story, including that she had a sister, Susan.

Susan proved to be the exact opposite of Rebecca, and the two sisters didn’t get along because Susan used to steal all of Rebecca’s boyfriends when they were younger.

The Mac gaming console time has forgot https://briefnews.eu/the-mac-gaming-console-time-has-forgot/ https://briefnews.eu/the-mac-gaming-console-time-has-forgot/#respond Sat, 24 Mar 2018 13:58:01 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-mac-gaming-console-time-has-forgot/

Enlarge / Nope, that’s not an Xbox, Playstation, or even a Dreamcast… (credit: Macgeek.org’s Museum)

Apple in mid-1993 was reeling. Amidst declining Mac sales, Microsoft had gained a stranglehold over the PC industry. Worse, the previous year Apple had spent $ 600 million on research and development, on products such as laser printers, powered speakers, color monitors, and the Newton MessagePad system—the first device to be branded a “personal digital assistant,” or PDA. But little return had yet come from it—or indeed looked likely to come from it.

The Newton’s unreliable handwriting recognition was quickly becoming the butt of jokes. Adding to the turmoil, engineering and marketing teams were readying for a radical transition from the Motorola 68k (also known as the 680×0) family of microprocessors that had powered the Mac since 1984 to the PowerPC, a new, more powerful computer architecture that was jointly developed by Apple, Motorola, and IBM. Macs with 68k processors wouldn’t be able to run software built for PowerPC. Similarly, software built for 68k Macs would need to be updated to take advantage of the superior PowerPC.

It was in this environment that COO Michael Spindler—a German engineer and strategist who’d climbed through the ranks of Apple in Europe to the very top layer of executive management—was elevated to CEO. (The previous CEO, John Sculley, was asked to resign.) Spindler spearheaded a radical and cost-heavy reorganisation of the company, which harmed morale and increased the chaos, and he developed a reputation for having horrendous people skills. He’d hold meetings in which he’d ramble incoherently, scribble illegible notes on a whiteboard, then leave before anybody could ask a question, and his office was usually closed.

“Roseanne” is returning to ABC at the end of March.

In its first nine seasons, the outspoken matriarch of the Conner clan rubbed elbows with the likes of George Clooney and Bruce Willis all while tackling unemployment and pinching pennies to raise her dysfunctional middle-class family.

The list of celebrity guest stars goes all the way to the show’s first season in 1988. While some of them were big names in their own right playing themselves, some celebrities appeared on the show before they were big like Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Even a few stars from ABC hit “Grey’s Anatomy” appeared alongside the Conners.

Before the show’s season 10 premiere, take a look back at the famous faces who have shown up in Lanford, Illinois.

Leonardo DiCaprio was one of Darlene’s classmates in a home economics class.

ABC

When Roseanne went to Darlene’s class to talk about being a homemaker, DiCaprio could be seen sitting next to Darlene.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt played a new friend of DJ’s who liked to ramble.

ABC

George was the new kid at school on season five who DJ and the rest of his family got easily annoyed with.

George Clooney was Jackie and Roseanne’s original boss, Booker Brooks, at Wellman Plastics.

Brooks started dating Jackie and failed at keeping it a secret.

His last appearance was on season four during a Halloween episode where he dressed up as a moose.

Hawaii’s governor said he couldn’t notify the public of the false missile alarm because he forgot his Twitter password https://briefnews.eu/hawaiis-governor-said-he-couldnt-notify-the-public-of-the-false-missile-alarm-because-he-forgot-his-twitter-password/ https://briefnews.eu/hawaiis-governor-said-he-couldnt-notify-the-public-of-the-false-missile-alarm-because-he-forgot-his-twitter-password/#respond Tue, 23 Jan 2018 02:28:22 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/hawaiis-governor-said-he-couldnt-notify-the-public-of-the-false-missile-alarm-because-he-forgot-his-twitter-password/ An electronic sign reads Thomson Reuters

  • Hawaii Gov. David Ige reportedly said he couldn’t notify the public during the 38-minute false missile alarm  because he forgot his Twitter password.
  • The missile notification system was accidentally triggered last week after an employee mistakenly pushed the wrong button.

Hawaii Gov. David Ige said the panic that ensued during a false alarm warning of an imminent missile attack wasn’t addressed sooner because he forgot his Twitter password and couldn’t notify the public.

During a press conference on Monday, Ige took some of the blame the mix-up that caused panic throughout Hawaii and made headlines worldwide, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser.

The missile defense notification system was accidentally triggered on January 13 after an employee mistakenly pushed the wrong button and sent mobile notifications to all in the vicinity, warning them of an imminent ballistic missile attack.

The blunder caused mass panic around Hawaii, as people quickly took cover and prepared for impact.

A second alert clarifying that there was no missile threat to Hawaii was not sent out until 38 minutes after the initial notice.

Soon after, officials confirmed that the alert was a mistake.

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency tweeted, “NO missile threat to Hawaii.”

Ige responded to the incident at the time, saying the triggering of the alert system was an “error” and was being investigated to avoid the incident from “ever happening again.”

Hawaii began testing its nuclear warning system in December, CNN reported. It is the first time since the Cold War that Hawaii brought back the system and comes amid North Korea’s increased missile testing.

The Bill Ackman problem everyone forgot is now at threat-level substantial https://briefnews.eu/the-bill-ackman-problem-everyone-forgot-is-now-at-threat-level-substantial/ https://briefnews.eu/the-bill-ackman-problem-everyone-forgot-is-now-at-threat-level-substantial/#respond Fri, 08 Dec 2017 22:13:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-bill-ackman-problem-everyone-forgot-is-now-at-threat-level-substantial/ bill ackmanReuters

  • The insider trading case against Pershing Square founder Bill Ackman and Valeant Pharmaceuticals may go to trial.
  • Investors in Allergan Pharmaceuticals are suing Ackman and Valeant over their hostile takeover of the company in 2014.

There may be a Bill Ackman insider-trading trial on the way.

You may recall that investors in Allergan Pharmaceuticals are suing the billionaire hedge fund manager and Valeant Pharmaceuticals over their 2014 attempt to buy Allergan in a hostile takeover. These investors claim that they were kept in the dark as Ackman built his position in Allergan, and then collaborated with Valeant on an attempted hostile takeover of the company.

Ackman and Valeant wanted the case thrown out, but a California judge just denied the request, at least tentatively. That means, unless the judge changes his mind or the parties can come to a settlement outside of court, this matter will go to trial.

Pershing Square is not commenting on the matter.

It was a weird trade

Shareholders in Allergan, including the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio, sued Ackman and Valeant on the basis of SEC Rule 14 e-3. Basically, it says if company A is planning to take over company B, anyone with knowledge of that takeover can’t trade company B shares once things are in motion.

And here’s the trade they’re applying it too — which was admittedly, even to observers at the time, pretty strange:

During the 2014 hostile takeover attempt, instead of buying Allergan outright, Valeant teamed up with Ackman, who purchased a large chunk of Allergan shares.

Ackman’s stake was disclosed alongside Valeant’s hostile takeover offer, and — surprise! — the billionaire said he would vote his newly acquired Allergan shares in support of the sale to Valeant.

Ackman then pulled out the activist-investor playbook to pressure Allergan to accept an offer from Valeant. He wrote nasty letters describing Allergan’s “incredibly inappropriate” behavior as it sought to fend off the takeover by a company that was known for slashing research-and-development spending and jacking up drug prices.

That didn’t work.

Allergan was eventually rescued by a white knight and Ackman — still an Allergan shareholder — made a bundle (about $ 2.6 billion by one count). Valeant profited a great deal too, because as part of its deal with Ackman meant it got a portion of his profits.

The rest is investment history. Ackman, who hadn’t invested in Valeant during the Allergan attempt, became one of its biggest shareholders. So Pershing Square was one of the worst hit when high-flying Valeant collapsed 90% from 2015 to 2016 after fraud was discovered at the company.

Ackman has since left Valeant. Valeant itself has stabilized. But this case remains the way Ackman and Valeant could still see all their gains washed away
