Rep. Nancy Mace says there's pressure on Republicans to vote to impeach President Biden if the party wins the midterms and gains control of the House.
Mace was on NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday, speaking with host Chuck Todd who asked: "Do you expect an impeachment vote against President Biden if Republicans take over the House?"
The South Carolina congresswoman answered, "there's a lot of pressure on Republicans to have that vote, to put that legislation forward. I think that is something that some folks are considering."
To which Todd responded, simply: "Wow."
On Wednesday, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said a GOP-majority Congress might try to impeach the president every week. Kinzinger was referring to Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has made impeaching Biden part of her official platform.
Last year, several Republicans filed impeachment articles criticizing Biden's withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, his immigration policies, and his administration's eviction moratorium.
When asked by Todd how she would vote if impeachment was on the floor, Mace said she would look at the evidence and vote constitutionally.
"I will not vote for impeachment of any president if I feel that due process has been stripped away for anyone," she told Todd.
Mace said if the party chooses to hold this vote, she believes it will be divisive. "Which is why I pushed back on it personally when I hear folks saying they're going to file articles of impeachment in the House," she said.
While Mace voted against impeaching former President Donald Trump, she was critical of his role on January 6, telling CNN that Trump's "entire legacy was wiped out" in the aftermath of the Capitol riots.
Before January 6, Mace was a supporter of Trump's and even worked for his campaign in 2016.
During the interview with NBC, Todd asked the congresswoman if she would back Trump's presidential bid in 2024.
"I'm going to support whomever Republicans nominate in '24," she said.
Representatives for Mace did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

If rock-n-roll or old-school blues rock and its derivatives are your thing, the pickings these days are slim.
Washy synthesizers and ornately produced rap dominate, which is fine. I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about St. Vincent’s “Masseduction,” and one of my kids is bringing a lot of contemporary hip-hop into the house, which has actually given me an excuse to revisit the Public Enemy catalog.
But of course I was raised on rock on the 1970s, and at the moment, the authors of that art form are aging toward their final rewards. Presumably. Keith Richards might live forever.
The year 2017 was actually a great one for the dinosaurs. Numerous classic rock Rexes released new albums, and they were all quite good.
Here’s a rundown of my favorites:
Polydor
This might be my favorite Rolling Stones album ever, and I’m a student of their vaunted run of records from the late 1960s through the mid-1970s that featured “Sticky Fingers,” “Exile on Main Street,” and “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll.”
“Blue & Lonesome” consists entirely of blues covers, so in a sense it’s a true back-to-the-beginning effort from Mick, Keith, Ronnie, and Charlie. The Stones started out as a cover band, determined to preach the gospel of American blues, as Keith once put it.
The Stones’ core garage-band vibe matches up perfectly with heavy, rollicking blues numbers originally composed by Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, and Willie Dixon. Imagine the young, raw Stones of the early 1960s combined with decades of experience and modern production. The result is just great, but the revelation is Mick Jagger’s skill as a harmonica player.
You don’t really get a lot of high-profile harmonica albums these days, but the instrument is crucial to the authentic Chicago blues sound, and Mick is a master. As Richards said when recounting how the album — recorded in just a few days and released in December of 2016 (I’ve grandfathered it into my 2017 list) — came about, he and Ronnie Wood were working up a few blues cover to get the band back into a groove, and Mick’s “harp” playing inspired them to keep going.
The goal was basically to get Mick playing more harp, Richards said. Was it ever worth it! (And for good measure, Eric Clapton joins in for a few tracks.)

Beck was one of the three former Yarbirds guitarists — the other two were Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page — to invent the British blues-rock sound of the 196os. But Beck didn’t stick with vibe, while Clapton refined the form and Page went on to start Led Zeppelin.
Beck moved in a progressive direction and has been relentlessly and restlessly reinventing himself ever since. It’s kept him young, and because he doesn’t sing, he’s open to new vocal talent. Which he found and then some on “Loud Hailer” in Rosie Bones of the eponymous UK group Bones.
Beck’s tone is rich, gruff, scratchy, supple, energized, and virtuosic, usually all at the same time. He has power to burn, and combined with Bones’ fierce, confrontational vocals, he unleashes the incandescence on proggy, punky gut-checks such as “Live in the Dark.”
This is a dark, futuristic album that sounds like the soundtrack to something bad. Beck is trying to get our attention. And at 73, he proves he can do it again and again.
This is the most in-your-face record I’ve listened to from anybody in years. When Beck isn’t blowing your mind with the effects he can extract from a Stratocaster, he’s captivating your imagination with beautiful phrasing and, huge, chunky riffs.
“Scared for the Children” is the ballad, if you could call it that. More like a warning. Heed it.

In his late sixties, Plant — with his group the Sensational Shape Shifters — has been exploring a kind of world-music-meets-The-Band semi-solo career.
Zep is ain’t, but the yowling, yelping, shrieky vocals that made Plant such an icon in the 1970s aren’t really suited to a musician of his stature, as he himself has said many times when asked about a Zep reunion.
Instead, on “Carry Fire,” we get a rumbling, meditative Plant, backed by a versatile, crackerjack lineup. Almost all the songs feature rolling, drone-like structures, evocative of Middle-Eastern music and folk. It’s hypnotic, and for fans of Plant’s post-Zep record with Jimmy Page, an extension of a slightly bluesy take on those traditions, heavy and serious.
What it is, in the end, is classic rock for the thinking person. Standouts are the title track and “Bluebirds Over the Mountain,” a simultaneously menacing and uplifting exercise in thrum and feedback that features a guest appearance by Chrissie Hynde.
You can put this one on an endless loop.

Indian authorities last year pulled the plug on a dubious clinical trial aiming to reverse brain death in 20 people. But, it seems, the resolve of the trial’s leaders is undying. They have revived their plans and will announce a new trial in upcoming months that will take place somewhere in Latin America, Stat reports.
The trial, led by Philadelphia-based biotech firm, Bioquark, aims to restore life to those declared clinically brain-dead by using a slap-dash, potpourri of methods—combining mesenchymal stem cells injections with peptides said to promote brain cell growth, transcranial laser therapy said to jump start brain cells, and electrical stimulation of the median nerve (a major nerve that runs through the arm) to enliven the senses.
Individually, some of these interventions have hinted at potential benefits for some patient populations in preliminary research. For instance, early studies suggest that stem cell injections into the brain or spinal cord may help some with brain injuries. But there is no indication that the interventions—individually or together—can bring back brain-dead patients. Bioquark and partners have not even tested out their hodgepodge method on animals.

Rockstar Games
Originally planned for a launch this fall on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, “Red Dead Redemption 2” now has a launch window of “spring 2018.” Rockstar says the delay is, “necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.” Bummer!
“Red Dead Redemption 2” is a gorgeous new game being made by Rockstar Games, the development studio most well-known for its wildly popular “Grand Theft Auto” series.
Rockstar Games
It’s a lot like “Grand Theft Auto,” in that it’s a massive, open-world, third-person action game with a focus on storytelling. The big difference is that it’s based in 1800s America — specifically, the Western frontier as the United States expanded toward the West Coast.
Rockstar describes “Red Dead Redemption 2” as an “outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland.” It’s not clear how the story of “Red Dead Redemption 2” aligns with the story of the first game, if at all. Notably, the first game ends with a rather definitive conclusion. Moreover, the art shown of “Red Dead Redemption 2” thus far paints the game as a “Magnificent Seven”-esque tale.

Outside of news of the delay, Rockstar offered a few new images of the game in action and promised more information at some point this summer.

Well met, and welcome to GamesBeat’s first PC Gaming Weekly newsletter. Thank you for joining us on our expanded dive into the industry’s’ first and most diverse platform.
And we’re going to start this adventure by talking about one of the giants of PC gaming, who recently announced his retirement plans just days following the release of one of the best games of his 36-year career.
Brian Fargo said that he’s preparing for the next chapter of his life after his studio, Inxile Entertainment, ships the postapocalyptic role-playing game Wasteland 3 in 2019. He didn’t say what he’s doing next, but he’s a stakeholder in Fig, the crowdfunding company that gives backers equity in the game. He’s passionate about crowdfunding, choosing it to back Inxile’s projects since 2014’s Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera, which came out last month and, in my opinion, is one of the best RPGs of the past 20 years … and maybe the best game he’s helped make.
I should know. I’ve been playing Brian’s games for as long as he’s been making them.
When old farts like me think about the RPGs of the 1980s, we talk about Ultima, Wizardry, or even Might and Magic. These are the building-blocks for games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Age. But when I think about the games of my youth, it’s one of Fargo’s classics that warms my heart: The Bard’s Tale. This series was much like Wizardry and Might and Magic, but Fargo’s innovations came from the magic music of the Bard class, a city full of dungeons and traps, and some silly humor (like battles with four groups of 99 Berserkers). His Interplay studio went on to make three Bard’s Tales games, and I admit I spent more homework time than I should have exploring these worlds.
The Bard’s Tale helped foster my lifelong love of role-playing games, helping me make friends and tell stories. Thank you for the magic, Brian.
