When a company tried as many crazy new ideas as Google, there are bound to be a few epic fails along the way.
From Google Offers to Google Answers, we’ve compiled the 14 biggest product flops in Google history.
No company has a perfect track record when it comes to product launches. But when a company takes as many swings at new ideas as Google, there are bound to be some epic fails along the way.
It seems that for every product as successful as Google Docs, there’s a flop as bad as Google Buzz.
Some of these flops lingered for years. Some for months. One lasted for a single day.
Here are the 14 biggest product flops in Google history:
14. Google Offers
Lifespan: 2011 – 2014
What it did: Google Offers launched during the daily-deals heyday of Groupon and Living Social. As the trend died down, so too did Google Offers.
13. Google Web Accelerator
Lifespan: 2005 – 2008
What it did: Google Web Accelerator was meant to help users browse faster by speeding up page load times. The product, however, was riddled with bugs, including YouTube videos not being able to load. The company stopped supporting Accelerator in 2008.
12. Google Video
Lifespan: 2005 – 2009
What it did: With YouTube building in momentum around 2005, Google decided to launch its own free video hosting platform — Google Video. About a year later, as Google Video failed to gain traction, the search giant simply bought YouTube for $ 1.65 billion. As of May 2018, YouTube had over 1.8 billion active users per month.

Fast-food chains often experiment with their menus to try to appeal to new customers or offer healthier options.
Even though some of these items take off, many of them end up huge failures.
Other items that have been long discontinued include Taco Bell’s Seafood Salad, McDonald’s Hula Burger, and Wendy’s Frescata.
Not every fast-food option can be a best seller.
Some experimental menu items actually end up costing chains millions, like McDonald’s Arch Burger, a “gourmet” burger that aimed to appeal to a more adult crowd but failed miserably. McDonald’s spent an estimated $ 150 million to $ 200 million advertising the Arch Deluxe’s rollout, which, at the time, was the most expensive promotional campaign in fast-food history, The New York Times reported.
Other menu items failed because they were just unappetizing, like Taco Bell’s Seafood Salad or Domino’s Oreo Pizza.
Here are some fast-food items that didn’t make it:
McDonald’s: Hula Burger
YouTube
The Hula Burger, introduced in the 1960s, was intended to be a meat-free option for Catholic customers who couldn’t eat meat on Fridays during Lent. Positioned to compete against the Filet-o-Fish, the pineapple-and-cheese burger ultimately failed and was pulled from the menu because the Filet-o-Fish was much more popular.
McDonald’s: Fish McBites
YouTube
Fish McBites were also added to the menu as another fish option, but they failed to do anything to help McDonald’s sales and were eventually taken off the menu in 2013.
McDonald’s: McAfrika
McDonald’s
The McAfrika was one of McDonald’s worst PR disasters because it was launched in Norway, one of the world’s wealthiest countries, when millions in South Africa were starving. The sandwich was made with beef, cheese, and vegetables on a pita, and was quickly pulled from the menu in 2002.

But just days after sickness cruelly knocked him out of the last Test in Sydney, England’s skipper delivered a defiant message to his tormentors.
Root told them: “Enjoy it for two years because we’ll be ready for you when you come to England.”
And he vowed to be “in a completely different place talking about a completely different story” when England return Down Under for another Ashes battle in four years time.
Root, still not looking 100 per cent chipper, relived the nightmare that saw him rushed to hospital and so ill he couldn’t come out to bat again after lunch in England’s second innings.
“I fully intended to go back out, but I crashed on the bed and struggled to get off it,” he revealed.
“It was very tough. I was counting down the minutes to when I could come off and have a break. I was so exhausted. I had not slept for a day and spent all night throwing up.
“It was a sad way to finish the series because it felt like I could not really go out on my own terms. But you just have to take these things on the chin.”
Root will be Eoin Morgan’s No 2 for the next five one-day internationals with fire replacing sickness in his belly, especially as far some England players are concerned.
“I’ve got time going into the New Zealand series to get myself clear on how I want to move forward, and if the lads aren’t prepared to get onboard with that then we’ve got to go with something different,” he warned.
Root didn’t name names, but his Nice Guy image slipped when the off field shenanigans of some players during the Ashes series came up.
“I think I have been battle-hardened and a bit stronger within myself on this trip,” he said. “Hopefully that’ll show in the coming months.
“It has been made very clear what is acceptable and what is not, and it’s also been made very clear what will happen if that’s not followed. It will not be tolerated anymore.
“You know how to conduct yourself as an England player, and it has been made very clear what happens if you get that wrong. There will be no excuses.
“Because of what happened the external perception was of a team getting lashed up on a jolly boys tour, but that was not the case.
“Our job moving forward is to gain that trust back, and to show people that that is not what this team is about.”
That fightback started earlier today when England’s white ball squad went into battle with an Australian side still crowing after their Ashes triumph.
Captain Morgan stressed Root’s importance to England’s ODI chances, saying: “He’s a key part. He’s a very versatile player and can score at any strike rate that’s required. He’s very important to us.”
And leading from the front Morgan added: “We’re here to win, playing the way we play. That’s probably the most important part of our game: taking our game to the opposition and adapting.”

With the exception of Taylor Swift, 2017 wasn’t a good year for anyone. But the employees and entrepreneurs at these startups had a particularly rough time. While each company or gadget had its own reason for sunsetting, the following failures tended to result from one of two problems: On-demand services were slow to turn a profit, and hardware turned out to be really hard. But lessons were learned, assets liquidated, and pivots made.
Better luck next year, Silicon Valley!
In a year when many startups went belly up, Lily Robotics set the tone with its January collapse. Back in May 2015, Lily’s product debut video went viral after showing a drone with four propellers that could autonomously follow people as they snowboarded or kayaked, taking off straight from the water or landing in users’ hands. The problem? Most of it was faked. The San Francisco District Attorney’s office filed a civil suit in January and alleged that the company had used GoPros and other professional drones to film their launch video and led viewers to think that the crisp images were from Lily’s flagship device. Lily, which raised more than $ 15 million in venture capital funding and $ 34 million in preorders, would go on to declare bankruptcy and promised that it would refund customers who had paid in advance. But some people are still waiting.
HomeHero, founded in 2013, provided nonmedical caregiving to seniors. It was one of a handful of senior care startups, including Honor and HomeTeam, and one of many startups that relied on on-demand labor from independent contractors (also known as 1099 workers) versus on-staff “W-2” employees. But in February, HomeHero shut down after raising $ 23 million. CEO Kyle Hill blamed a federal ruling that mandated home care workers had to be treated as W-2 employees with benefits — what Hill called “an inferior employment business model.”

Tech can disrupt everything, even the used car market! Or at least that was the thinking when investors poured money into a host of startups, including Shift, Carvana, Vroom, and Beepi. These online peer-to-peer marketplaces were intended to remove the middlemen and brick-and-mortar costs associated with car dealerships, connecting people within their communities to buy and sell automobiles. The problem is it was an expensive exercise, with Beepi, which was founded in 2013, burning through more than $ 150 million in investment money (sometimes on boneheaded deals like this one, where it lost $ 29,500 on the sale of a single car). After failing to sell its assets, it ended all operations in February.

The internet can be a fickle thing. One day you’re the hottest social app. The next, you’re dead in the water. That’s what happened to Yik Yak, the anonymous social platform that became popular on middle and high school campuses and was banned in some cases for its role in cyberbullying. None of that mattered to venture capital firms like Sequoia Capital, which dumped more than $ 70 million into the company after it was founded in 2013. Yik Yak shut down in May following months of falling engagement numbers, and sold some of its assets to the financial technology company Square.

It wasn’t long ago that on-demand food delivery startups were raising hundreds of millions of dollars from return-hungry investors. But customers seem to be losing their appetites. Maple, which launched in New York in 2015, and Sprig, a San Francisco–based gourmet-meal service that started in 2013, both shut down within weeks of each other in May. One apparent reason: Making food from scratch and delivering it, compared to just carrying out orders from established restaurants, is expensive.
Goodbye, Hello. In spite of $ 40 million in funding and a successful Kickstarter campaign, the sleep-tracking device company still found its way into the 2017 startup graveyard. It launched in July 2014 with plenty of fanfare by its founder and CEO, James Proud, a former Thiel Fellow. But Hello and its original product, Sense, were plagued by lukewarm reviews and a lack of consumer demand. The beautifully designed orb, which sat on a bedside table and tracked its user’s sleep patterns, sold poorly, forcing Proud to put the company to bed.

At the height of the wearable electronics craze, Jawbone, the maker of headphones and fitness-tracking bands that was founded in 1999, was valued at a whopping $ 3 billion. How times have changed. In July, following months of financial struggles and rounds of litigation with rival Fitbit, the startup began liquidating its assets. Cofounder and CEO Hosain Rahman is reportedly pivoting into a new endeavor, Jawbone Health Hub, that would make health-related hardware and offer software services.
Silicon Valley did not deserve the story of Juicero. The former founder of a bankrupt organic chain unveiled a $ 699 WiFi-connected juice machine in March 2016, raised $ 134 million from some of the tech industry’s most storied investors, and then promptly shut down after a news outlet determined that its device achieves the exact same end as a pair of human hands. In a year when a president ascended to the White House by railing against coastal elites, Juicero was Silicon Valley schadenfreude made all the more beautiful by founder Doug Evans posting videos from Burning Man as the company shut down in September. More recently, Juicero’s Twitter account was taken over by what seems to be an avid sports fan.
Finding a parking spot can be a soul-crushing endeavor in a city, especially if that city happens to be San Francisco. Naturally this was the birthplace in 2013 of Luxe, which let you smartphone-summon a blue-jacketed stranger to scooter up and park your car until you needed it. This idea raised $ 75 million, but it wasn’t enough. It stopped doing door-to-door valet service in the spring and then sold to Volvo in September.
A year ago, New Yorkers were lining up for blocks to get their hands on a pair of Snap Spectacles. They were video-recording sunglasses, but unlike Google Glass, they were definitely going to be a thing. (Narrator: They weren’t.) As Snap struggled with a lackluster IPO, it reported in November that underwhelming customer interest led it to lose $ 40 million on the device. The company now has hundreds of thousands of unsold Spectacles.
Doppler Labs
Doppler Labs cofounder and CEO Noah Kraft seemed to have everything going for him — except for financial viability. With plenty of media appearances and a spot on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in 2016, Kraft leveraged the attention to raise more than $ 50 million for a company that promised to make wireless headphones that could be controlled via smartphone. Unfortunately, the product, Here One, hit development and manufacturing delays and was unable to beat Apple’s AirPods to market, dooming it as a competitor to the electronics powerhouse. “We thought we were the shit,” Kraft told Wired recently in announcing his company’s shutdown.
In 2017, it seemed like there was an announcement every other week that AIM — that hallowed place of emo status updates, BRB away messages, and teenage flirting — would be shutting down forever. On Dec. 15, that finally happened, ending the 20-year-old online communication service that had about 100 million users at its peak in 2001. It was a sad day for these writers, once known on AIM as azninvasion828 and ssmiling88. Pour one out for AIM.
Since 2010, journalists and storytellers used Storify to put tweets, Facebook posts, and other social media content into a nice, neat chronological timeline that told a story. But earlier this month, Storify announced that its own timeline was, in a sense, coming to an end.

Rafael Nadal waved goodbye to the ATP World Tour Finals after just one match
The O2 Arena is one of the most spectacular venues on tour, an indoor stadium with a capacity of 17,800 and the organisers put on a show when the tennis comes to town with light displays, pumping tunes and of course, the world’s best tennis players.
The unique round-robin format guarantees the crowd even more chances to see each player and 2017 has not disappointed with more than 200,000 streaming into east London for the action.
But how did each player rate in the eyes of our man on the ground James Gray? Here are the ATP World Tour Finals players assessed one by one.

How much prize money will each player earn at the ATP World Tour Finals?
Rafael Nadal (No 1 seed; withdrew after one match of round robin; one defeat)
There are two ways of viewing Nadal’s solitary match, a three-sets defeat to David Goffin on Monday night: either you can laud his bravery for turning up and trying to play or you can criticise him for coming to play one match and collecting the appearance money in the knowledge he would be withdrawing.
I fall on the latter side. After limping out of the Paris Masters, he knew full well five matches in a week would be impossible. Instead, he played through the pain in London, the damage of which could be two-fold. Irrespective of how well he claims to know the knee injury, there is little doubt that by playing three gruelling sets of tennis he took a risk of damaging it further. Secondly, he took a lot of energy out of Goffin, whose run to the final was in spite of having to see off the ever-gritty Nadal.
And thirdly, he left Pablo Carreno Busta in limbo and deprived him of any realistic chance of making the semi-finals.
RATING: 3/10

Dominic Thiem (No 4 seed; eliminated after round robin; one win, two defeats)
No man in the top 10 has played more tennis than Dominic Thiem this year, and he has done so under the relentlessly demanding eye of coach Gunter Bresnik, who has given him little leeway.
The Austrian looked exhausted from the first game but pushed Dimitrov to three sets and battled to a hard-fought win over Carreno Busta, a customer who is never easily dismissed.
His loss to Goffin that scarcely lasted an hour was a sad way to bow out but he was a valuable addition to the tournament, even if the results didn’t all go his way.
RATING: 6.5/10

Dominic Thiem was eventually eliminated by good friend David Goffin
Marin Cilic (No 5 seed; eliminated after round robin; three defeats)
No fan could complain about not getting their money’s worth out of Cilic, whose three losses all went the distance and saw him accumulate 92 games on court altogether (compared to Goffin’s miserly 77!).
Having already been eliminated, the Croatian could easily have rolled over on Friday and let Roger Federer, who had already qualified for the semi-finals, through in straight sets. But instead he nicked the first-set tie-break before the Swiss bounced back to win 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.
And the brief lead against Federer did little to paper over the fact that he hardly turned up against Alexander Zverev and Jack Sock.
RATING: 4/10
Alexander Zverev (No 3 seed; eliminated after round robin, one win, two defeats)
Zverev skipped the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, for players 21 years of age and under, to focus on this tournament – and avoided all the controversy it attracted.
But he struggled to produce his best tennis in London despite winning the second set against a misfiring Federer. The German subsequently collapsed in the last set and sealed the match with a double-fault.
Things got no better for the 20-year-old either as he was beaten by Sock on Thursday to see him miss out on the semi-finals.
RATING: 5/10
Related articles
Jack Sock (No 8 seed; eliminated by Dimitrov in semi-finals; two wins, two defeats)
By his own admission, Sock “shouldn’t even have been here”. A remarkable run from outside the top 20, including a first ever Masters 1000 title in Paris, catapulted him into the last qualification spot and he pounced on the opportunity.
The American won many fans with his cheeky smile and spectacular forehand, as well as his upset win over Zverev to qualify for the semis.
The “Showtime” entertainment ran out in the knockout rounds though as he lost 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 to Dimitrov in the semis.
RATING: 7/10
Roger Federer (No 2 seed; eliminated by Goffin in semi-finals; three wins, one defeat)
Winning ugly is not a phrase often associated with tennis’ most majestic champion.
However, that is what Federer has had to do in a week where his best form has often deserted him. Beating Sock on Sunday was his only straight-sets victory and he has spent plenty of time behind the baseline, picking at strings and chastising himself for errors.
That said, his rating cannot dip too low because he did win all his group matches and reach the semi-finals, where Goffin capitalised on another sluggish performance to reach the final.
RATING: 7.5/10
GETTY
David Goffin scrapped his way to the final despite a crushing loss to Grigor Dimitrov in the groups
David Goffin (No 7 seed; result to follow; three wins, one defeat)
Wednesday’s defeat to Dimitrov was one of the heaviest of Goffin’s career and it looked as though that would be his tournament.
He denied that the physically and mentally draining win over Nadal had affected him but it clearly had as he failed to muster enough energy to win more than two games. But what a win it had been, punching through the court time and again, rallying when nerves got the better of him in the final set to close out the match.
He followed it with wins over the exhausted Thiem and mis-firing Federer to reach the biggest match of his career, and for beating both 2017 Grand Slam winners in a week he deserves a huge amount of credit.
RATING: 8.5/10
Grigor Dimitrov (No 6 seed; result to follow; four wins)
For me, the player of the tournament. Thanks to his points won in London, he will finish the year as world No 3, eight places higher than he has ever managed before.
His demolitions of Carreno Busta and Goffin were spectacularly clinical and while his serve went to pieces in the first set against Sock, he was otherwise flawless on the way to the final.
Is 2018 going to be the year Dimitrov finally reaches the level he promised as a junior? On this showing, it could be.
BROCK Osweiler’s days with the Browns were numbered when the quarterback arrived in a trade.
They’re now over.
Osweiler is being released by Cleveland, which will have to pay his $ 16 million guaranteed contract not to have him on their roster, a person familiar with the team’s moves told The Associated Press on Friday (US time).
The quarterback arrived at the Browns – a battling NFL franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 seasons – in a flagrant and unprecedented salary dump, having flopped with the Texans after signing a $ 72 million contract.
Osweiler will be officially cut on Saturday along with veteran guard John Greco, kicker Cody Parkey and defensive lineman Xavier Cooper when the team trims its roster to 53 on Saturday, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team is still finalising its roster decisions.
The #Browns traded for QB Brock Osweiler, thinking they’d cut him. Then tried to play him, start him, then trade him again… now cut.
The 26-year-old Osweiler was acquired by the Browns on March 9 from Houston, for a 2018 second-round and a 2017 sixth-round draft pick, while Cleveland sent a 2017 fourth-round pick back to the Texans. The Browns did not have any long-term plans for Osweiler, who went 8-6 as a starter for the Texans last season after arriving from the Denver Broncos in March last year.
However, because of his large contract, the Browns were unable to unload Osweiler and he competed for their starting job this summer. It was flagged from the outset that Osweiler was likely to be cut, in a deal that amounted to the Browns paying for a better shot in the draft.

Osweiler was beaten out by rookie DeShone Kizer, who will be the 27th starting quarterback for Cleveland since 1999 when the team opens against Pittsburgh on September 10.
On a conference call earlier in the day, Browns coach Hue Jackson said the team had not made any decision on Osweiler.
“We will think about that as we go,” Jackson said when asked if the team will add a veteran QB if Osweiler is cut.
“I just think when it is all said and done, you have to make sure you keep the best players that you feel that can help you win. Experience is important, but at the same time, I think talent level and where we are and what we are trying to accomplish is important, too.”
Brock Osweiler during his ill-fated time with the Houston Texans.Source:AFP
With Osweiler leaving, it appears the Browns will also keep quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan behind Kizer.
Parkey lost his job to rookie Zane Gonzalez, a seventh-round draft pick. Gonazlez may have sealed Parkey’s fate when he connected on a 53-yard field goal in Thursday’s exhibition win at Chicago.
Parkey joined the Browns in Week 3 last season after Patrick Murray injured his knee in practice. Parkey missed three of six field-goals in his debut — he only met his holder and snapper in pre-game warm-ups — but recover to make 17 of his next 19 attempts.
Greco spent six seasons with Cleveland, joining the team in 2012 after spending three seasons with St. Louis. The well-respected 32-year-old made 66 starts for the Browns. He missed the final four games last season after tearing a foot ligament and undergoing surgery.
Cooper was drafted by the Browns in the third round in 2015. He started two games last season.

There were a lot of funny moments during Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. Unfortunately, none of them were spoken by host Katy Perry. (“A” for effort?)
Fortunately, Perry’s painfully laugh-free comedy bits — about such relevant topics as… the Fyre Festival? — were punctuated by the kind of glorious nonsense we’ve come to expect from the VMAs.
To that end, TVLine strove to assemble a mildly cohesive list of the evening’s standout moments, for better or worse. From Tiffany Haddish’s show-stealing speech to Fifth Harmony figuratively knocking its former band member off her perch, we’re reliving it all.

There were renewed calls for Wenger’s head from Gunners fans after this defeat to a rampant Liverpool team – and even calls to boycott the next home game against Bournemouth on Saturday week.
But Arsenal manager Wenger pointed the finger at his players, accusing them of lacking fight.
He said: “What went wrong? Everything. I think from the first minute to the last minute we were not at the level requested for such a game.
“Not physically, not technically, not mentally and we were punished. That’s basically it.
“Of course, you can analyse the chances we gave away, but I just think overall the performance was not at the requested level.
“It’s true that today we were an easy opponent for Liverpool. The result is a consequence of our performance. We were not good enough. We were beaten everywhere physically, in the end I believe we made it easier for them, and the mistakes gave them a cushion.
“It was shocking the goal before half-time but our performance was absolutely disastrous.”
Asked for the reasons why Arsenal were so bad, he added: “ That’s a question which is very difficult to answer straight away after the game. There are some reasons, but I don’t think too much should come on that now.
“Last season I said that after 30 games. Now we have played three games. We have played one home game and two away games. Given our first two games, our performances were quote good, but today the performance was not acceptable at that level.
“It’s important not to become too emotional.”
Sky pundit Graeme Souness said Arsenal were like “a team of schoolboys” and Wenger apologised to Gunners fans who booed their team’s performance.
He said: “I don’t want to answer that, that’s part of the crowd’s feelings. If I am the problem, I am sorry, but I believe all together we lose. The only thing we can do is come back and give them a better level of performance.”
Goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and substitute Daniel Sturridge had Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp purring.
He said: “The performance was perfect and the result is the result of the performance. We wanted to show our ambition against a very strong side. There were 11 outstanding individual performances.”

JOAKIM Noah has a ton of regrets from last season, and one of them is his awful campaign may have played a role in costing Phil Jackson his job.
In his first comments since the NBA season ended, Noah also admitted he “lost my confidence’’ and “wasn’t moving right.” He said his drug suspension “hurt a lot of people,’’ and he has “to live with it the rest of my career.’’
But Noah added he is ready to redeem himself by being a model veteran for the New York Knicks’ young big men.
In breaking his silence, the Knicks centre gave an emotionally charged, 75-minute interview with the “Truth Barrel’’ podcast. He beat himself up over the nightmare his first season in New York became after Jackson lavished him with a whopping four-year, $ 90 million contract. Jackson was fired in late June.
“It’s tough, man, because I got a lot of love and respect for Phil,’’ Noah said. “He gave me an opportunity to play back home. Somebody I read all his books as a kid. I was just a big fan and still am. I have a lot of respect for him. It didn’t work out. That sucks. It’s something I have to live with. He believed in me, and I kind of let him down. That’s frustrating. He got a lot of blame that it was his fault. But we didn’t lose all those games because of Phil Jackson.’’
Noah, 32, spoke philosophically about a year in which everything that could’ve gone wrong for him went wrong.
“I wouldn’t trade it for s***,’’ Noah said. “I know a lot of people are mad about it, but I’m not. I don’t feel sorry for myself. Everything that happened were my decisions. I’m a grown-ass man. I’m playing in New York City. It sucked because I didn’t play well. I get to bounce back and come back next year. … I’m not going to quit.”
“I know New York — I know if I can come back and get it right, that could be a big story, too,’’ Noah added.
Noah, the two-time All-Star, saw his play dip significantly. He was wracked with various injuries before his drug suspension finished his season. He had surgery on a torn rotator cuff in late April, after he was suspended for 20 games for testing positive for Androgen, for which he still has 12 games left to serve. He can’t play until November 13, against the Cavaliers.
The Knicks are in rebuild mode and have made it a priority to build around a young core that includes big men Willy Hernangomez and Kristaps Porzingis. Noah wants to be a strong influence on them. He is also the only player who can speak French with the team’s first-round pick, point guard Frank Ntilikina.
“We have some really good young players coming up at my position,’’ Noah said. “I’ve got to see the NBA at its highest level. I don’t like that some of these young guys have only seen bulls***. It’s important for these young guys to have good vets. I want to be that for the younger guys. They have to see the right way.”

On several occasions, Noah mentioned a confidence loss last season. He struggled from the free-throw line (43 per cent), couldn’t find rhythm on offence and seemed to lose a step on defence in his 46 games. He admitted he faced “high expectations” because he signed “a really big deal.”
“I went through a lot of adversity,’’ Noah said. “You go through injuries. I lost my confidence this year. It’s about bouncing back and showing who I am through these tough times. It can really show what you’re made of.”
“I still have a lot of mountains to climb,’’ Noah added. “My role, I don’t know what it’s going to be. I don’t know what’s coming. I want to be as ready as possible.’’
In explaining his PED suspension, Noah said his heart was in the right place as he was injured and “went in the wrong direction.’’
“I thought I could take something that could help me that wasn’t on the banned list,’’ Noah said, “and it was contaminated with some s*** that was banned. It was really, really rough. It was over the counter. I usually go through the team doctors, and I kind of went and did it my way and it affected a lot of people, a lot of loved ones and my family. It was more than me and my reputation. It sucked to see how many people it hurt. That’s something I have to live with the rest of my career.’’
Noah said he, as a New Yorker, understood the rancour he received from Knicks fans. He moved to New York from Paris at age 12.
“You can’t hate on them,’’ Noah said. “They’re frustrated.”
“They didn’t like me in Chicago at first, too, but New York was different,’’ Noah said on the podcast. “I grew up a Knicks fan, too. I had so much respect for (the organisation). Everything that stands for being a Knickerbocker, playing at the Garden. But I didn’t feel I could move the way I could. I lost my confidence. They were on me, man. That’s not going to change. That’s New York.
“I still have an unbelievable opportunity throughout all this s***. I can go out there and hold my head high and do my job like a man,’’ Noah said. “That might not be enough for a Knicks fan because I’m making a lot of money, but it’s not about Knicks fans, it’s about me being comfortable. I can’t say last year I was happy the way the s*** went down. I left there head down, hurt. If I can end next year (knowing) I busted my ass this year no matter what and be a good influence in the locker room, I want to make sure this group is going in the right direction.’’
Noah commended two teammates for dealing well with last season’s chaos: Derrick Rose, who signed with Cleveland, and Carmelo Anthony.
“Carmelo can block everything out,’’ Noah said. “That makes them special in their own way.’’

The war drama – starring Fionn Whitehead, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy and Harry Styles among others – is said to have done better than forecasters predicted thus far.
Its opening day resulted in a haul of over $ 20 million, according to Variety, and it’s now trending towards $ 53-62 million for the three-day frame.
For context, that’s far higher than the studio’s previous guidance of around $ 35 to $ 40 million.
Other new movies this weekend, however, aren’t faring so well.
While Girl’s Trip is performing solidly (a $ 12 million opening day puts it on track for $ 25 million this weekend), Cara Delevingne’s latest is having worse luck.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, a sci-fi epic from Luc Besson, is pacing towards just $ 18 million – below initial expectations.
That means it’ll likely lose to Spider-Man: Homecoming – which is now in its third week ($ 20 million forecast) – and possibly also to two-week-old War for the Planet of the Apes ($ 18 million forecast).
