It’s finally happening: Supernatural returns this Thursday (The CW, 8/7c) with the first of its final seven episodes, which will feature the climactic conclusion of the Winchesters’ battle against God himself.

Dean and Sam will get help from their most trusted allies, including some returning familiar faces in their fight against the Almighty foe. But “ultimately, it’s gonna come down to Sam and Dean, two guys from Kansas, facing off against the Supreme Being,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb shares in the following Q&A. “So they’re still the underdogs in that fight.” Plus, their secret weapon against God is going through a “debilitating” journey now that Jack’s soul has been restored.

Below, Dabb also previews the show’s upcoming wee Winchesters flashbacks and reveals the guest stars that, unfortunately, won’t be back for the final run.

TVLINE | The first episode when you return is your holiday installment. What can you preview about what’s in store?
It’s a really fun episode, and it kind of touches on some heretofore unaddressed things about the Men of Letters and about the bunker, and then kind of allowed us to get into a fun episode that takes up a lot of stuff that I think fans, or certainly that we in the writers’ room, have wanted to see in terms of like, “What would a Thanksgiving dinner look like with our guys?” and things like that, and put it all together in something that we hope will be really, really enjoyable for the fans. It’s just really, really fun. As a way to come back into the story after, at that point, the last six, seven months, I think coming in with something a little lighter and enjoyable is going to be a really good appetizer for what’s to come, because what’s to come, let’s just say, it may not all be super fun.

TVLINE | When we last left off, things were really escalating in the fight against God. What will that look like in the last seven episodes?
There is no way to avoid this fight. Chuck’s gonna come back, they know what he’s going to do, they know what he wants, they know everything. And so what can they do to fight him? It’s really about rallying the troops and allies, some people we’ve met before, and some people we’ve sort of met in passing, and some people we haven’t ever seen, and using every tool, every arrow in their quiver, to fight this existential, literally God-like threat. So that becomes a lot of it, but as so many of these things do, ultimately, it’s gonna come down to Sam and Dean, two guys from Kansas, facing off against the Supreme Being. So they’re still the underdogs in that fight.

TVLINE | Can you talk about the emotional and psychological mindset of Dean and Sam in these final episodes, given everything that they’re going up against?
Neither one of them is giving up. That’s not in their character. I think you’ve got a Sam who wants to do this in a smart, considered [way like], “Let’s make a plan. Let’s go in with a blueprint,” and you’ve got a Dean who is a little bit more impulsive and a little bit more willing to do whatever it takes to bring Chuck down, because of everything Chuck has taken from him and from them. You have to realize, for our guys, they just had their entire world blown up, like everything they’ve done their whole lives. When you realize your life’s been a manipulation, what does that mean for you as a person? Who are you, really? And so for Sam and Dean, it’s about, “Who are we, really?” I think they know, but there is confusion just because of the circumstances. It is, to a degree, about finding themselves, and also kind of finding each other through our final episodes as they go up against the most powerful force in the universe.

TVLINE | In the last episode, Jack got his soul back. Will that affect his ability to go up against God and fulfill his destiny to kill God?
It will. Jack is someone who’s now having the weight of everything he did land on him. In some ways, that’s good because he can finally deal with it. In some ways, it’s debilitating, as grief and depression and guilt often are. So from his point of view, yes, it’s kind of hard to deal with all of that, and it’s not an easy process for him, and it’s something where Sam and Dean, and Castiel more than [Sam and Dean] even, are there to guide him through this incredibly difficult process.

TVLINE | You’re also doing an episode that has flashbacks to a young Dean and Sam. What kind of insight will that provide? And why was that a story that you wanted to tell in these final hours?
Every year, there’d be some kind of flashback story. One of my first episodes was flashbacks of Sam and Dean in high school. It was something we used to do a lot, and we kind of moved away from [it] largely because the actors who we’d come to rely on to play Young Sam and Young Dean got too old. Colin Ford, right now, is older than Jared [Padalecki] was when the show started, I think. So it was something where we were talking about the types of episodes we wanted to do towards the end, and I put it out there like, “Look, if someone has a really great flashback episode, it’s been a while since we’ve told a story like that.” Meghan [Fitzmartin], one of the writers on the show, came in with an idea, and it worked for us. It worked not only as a case right now, but also as something that informed the journey Sam and Dean have taken, where they started as kids, how they kind of came together and then how that has [led up] to the point that they are, emotionally, when the episode airs. So it ended up being a really good reflection of our guys now, telling a story about our guys then, which, to me, are always the best versions of those types of flashback stories.

TVLINE | Was there anybody that you really wanted to get back for these final episodes, but it just didn’t work out for whatever reason, scheduling or because of COVID?
Look, COVID was limiting, especially when it came to the last two [episodes]. And there were certainly people we would have liked to have brought back like Samantha Smith, like Jeffrey Dean Morgan. People who have been such core parts of the show for so long. But unfortunately, because of COVID and some other things, doing a big supersized guest cast family reunion was just off the table. But in terms of our story that we’re telling, we didn’t have to make any compromises. Everyone who is coming back is coming back for a specific reason. These are people we want. They’re important to us. They’re great characters, and we just thought it was an opportunity to revisit some of our and, hopefully, the fan favorites.

Power showrunner confirms Ghost and Angela teen story WON’T happen despite flashback https://briefnews.eu/power-showrunner-confirms-ghost-and-angela-teen-story-wont-happen-despite-flashback/ https://briefnews.eu/power-showrunner-confirms-ghost-and-angela-teen-story-wont-happen-despite-flashback/#respond Sun, 21 Jun 2020 23:53:36 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/power-showrunner-confirms-ghost-and-angela-teen-story-wont-happen-despite-flashback/

The pair begin discussing possible colleges they can attend after high-school, with Angela suggesting Choate, the school Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) ends up going to.

In typical Ghost and Angela fashion, the scene is charged with sexual tension as the teens flirt outside their high-school.

And given one of the Starz spin-offs, Book III: Raising Kanan, is a prequel series, some fans had speculated they would be seeing more of this teenage romance even though Power had ended.

However, it doesn’t look like fans will get to see the beginning of Ghost and Angela’s romance at all as showrunner Courtney Kemp rubbished the possibility that the flashback would lead to future storylines.

OITNB Star Reacts to Devastating Twist and a Very Special Flashback in Ep. 12 https://briefnews.eu/oitnb-star-reacts-to-devastating-twist-and-a-very-special-flashback-in-ep-12/ https://briefnews.eu/oitnb-star-reacts-to-devastating-twist-and-a-very-special-flashback-in-ep-12/#respond Sun, 28 Jul 2019 00:10:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/oitnb-star-reacts-to-devastating-twist-and-a-very-special-flashback-in-ep-12/ Warning: The following contains spoilers from Season 7 of Orange Is the New Black. Do not keep reading until you have finished Episode 12.

The penultimate episode of Orange Is the New Black ends with one of the biggest tragedies in in the series’ seven-year history. In the very last scene, Taystee enters the laundry room to find that Taryn Manning’s Pennsatucky has suffered an (accidental?) overdose. She cries out for help, but it’s too late. Pennsatucky is dead.

For Taystee’s portrayer, Danielle Brooks, reacting to a character’s demise is nothing new. It’s hard to forget how Taystee wailed back in Season 4 when she first saw Poussey on the cafeteria floor.

“I’m not gonna lie to you. I was thinking, ‘Taystee, how many times do you have to go through this?’” Brooks tells TVLine with a laugh. “It’s been a lot.” And being the character called on to respond to some of the series’ most devastating moments has not gotten any easier over the years.

“It gets harder on so many levels,” Brooks says. “From a technical standpoint, I’m trying to challenge myself. These aren’t the same people, so every breakdown I’m having as Taystee has a different weight to it. I don’t want to give the audience the same old crying and the same old whining. I want it to cater to whoever’s dying, or whatever the situation is.”

Taystee’s role as Pennsatucky’s GED tutor paved the way for a new and unlikely friendship this season. The “lifer” and the reformed meth addict are two characters you’d never expect to cross paths, and Brooks was excited to explore that odd-couple dynamic.

“Taryn Manning is someone that I’ve always wanted to get to work with. I think she’s so freaking brilliant,” Brooks says. “She lives her character through every ounce of her hair… through every pore in her body.”

Penn’s death comes at the end of a particularly disheartening episode for Taystee. In the beginning, her attorney informs her that Suzanne’s testimony wouldn’t be enough to get her life sentence overturned. Hopeless, she decides that she’s going to try and kill herself again, this time using the fentanyl given to her by Daya. She’s on her way back to her cell to go through with the suicide, when a flickering light in the hallway triggers a new flashback, circa Season 1: An out-on-parole Taystee gets a call from Poussey (played by former series regular Samira Wiley). Taystee tells P that she’s struggling on the outside, and P encourages her to “hold on a little longer.” She promises T that “there’s good s—t working its way to you that you don’t even know about.”

OITNB 7x12 Poussey“Doing a flashback in the seventh season [of a show] reminds you of how far you’ve come, especially with my girl Samira [Wiley],” Brooks says. “We’re both cut from the same cloth. We knew each other before [the show] and went to the same college. We’ve gotten to take this journey together, and I’m glad that we got that reflective moment with each other — even if it was through a phone call. Just hearing her voice was enough to remind me of the plethora of blessings that have manifested themselves through this process, and what we’ve been able to accomplish, together and separately.”

Hit the comments with your reactions to Pennsatucky’s overdose and Poussey’s brief return, then check back Sunday afternoon for our series finale recap.

Emmerdale spoilers: Jacob to endure 'drama' filled night with Maya in flashback episode https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-jacob-to-endure-drama-filled-night-with-maya-in-flashback-episode/ https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-jacob-to-endure-drama-filled-night-with-maya-in-flashback-episode/#respond Fri, 01 Mar 2019 04:27:56 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-jacob-to-endure-drama-filled-night-with-maya-in-flashback-episode/

A lot can happen in one night and Emmerdale producers intend to prove exactly that when they air a flashback episode in the spring.

On one particular night out the lives of characters including Jacob Gallagher (played by Joe-Warren Plant), Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) will be severely affected.

The storyline will play out in April and May, detailing how the course of each character’s life was altered in a single night on the ITV soap opera.

Teasing the “interesting” concept, producer Kate Brooks divulged: “We’ve got some really brilliant stuff coming up in April, May time.”

Raving about the flashback project, she told The Sun: “A big night out, which we will tell in a very interesting, fresh way. That’s really good.

“It’s a night out for some of our characters, and we’ll find out a week later what’s gone on in that night out in a series of flashbacks.”

Dishing on the “drama” filled night, she continued: “Ostensibly it’s, ‘Hey, Emmerdale are out having fun in a club’.

“But then it will be revealed that it will change some of our characters’ lives for good.”

“There’s a lot of drama involved in that night and because we’re Emmerdale, we’re telling it in a kind of different way,” she added.

Jacob, Maya and Stepney are currently in the grips of a grooming storyline, which has seen Maya take advantage of schoolboy Jacob.

The teacher, who is twice the pupil’s age, is dating his step-father David, while engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

She sparked fury among fans of the ITV series in last night’s episode when she paid the youngster a visit and promised him they would go “all the way” in the near future.

Her sickening remark horrified viewers, with one taking to Twitter to write: “Really uncomfortable to watch, can we just get it over with please?”

Another person threatened to contact Ofcom, penning: “Nah do I have to write to Ofcom because Emmerdale needs to end this grooming storyline! Maya is disgusting.”

A third fan added: “Oh my god, Maya is so evil. And how is no one noticing that Jacob is so angry and upset.”

Someone else begged: “Hope Maya gets found out soon, Jacob is turning into a right horrible boy, get rid of Maya and end this storyline.”

During the episode, Maya and Jacob were shown getting close in his room after he ruined his own 16th birthday party.

The teenager got drunk at the bash and was booted out of his own event by his step-dad following a particularly gruesome round of vomiting.

He was given a good telling off by David, but Maya supported Jacob instead of her boyfriend, defending him when they returned to the cottage.

Emmerdale continues tonight on ITV at 7pm.

Five-0 Recap: Did Steve Settle a Score? Plus, a Revealing McRollins Flashback https://briefnews.eu/five-0-recap-did-steve-settle-a-score-plus-a-revealing-mcrollins-flashback/ https://briefnews.eu/five-0-recap-did-steve-settle-a-score-plus-a-revealing-mcrollins-flashback/#respond Sat, 05 Jan 2019 09:27:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/five-0-recap-did-steve-settle-a-score-plus-a-revealing-mcrollins-flashback/

This week on Hawaii Five-0, McGarrett aimed to exact vengeance for the death of Joe White. When all was said and done, did the person responsible get what was coming to them?

Bearded and looking bedraggled some time after Joe’s death during the shootout with Omar Hassan’s men, Steve was visited at the Montana ranch by Danny — who soon realized that he was late to the “party,” that Catherine Rollins was already there. Danny wasn’t interrupting any (ahem) “playing house” but instead a brutal and bloody interrogation of Hassan’s lawyer.

After going another round with McGarrett, said lawyer coughed up a lead on Hassan’s whereabouts. Picking up Junior, Wade Gutches (and Frank Bama’s plucky, barely glimpsed daughter?) along the way, the group flew 10,000 miles to Laos, where they met up with advance man Harry Langford. Langford had culled a lead on Hassan in the form of a runner who frequents the high-roller baccarat table at an exclusive club, as a means of “paying” the casino to launder Hassan’s money. Steve and Catherine cleaned up and glammed up to pose as marrieds (!), sitting next to the runner with the hope of dosing his cocktail with a radioactive solution that will allow them to track him to Hassan. Though the runner cashed out earlier than anyone expected, Catherine was able to coax him into sipping his drink before going.

Tracking the runner to Hassan’s well-secured penthouse, the team used ye old trusty video loop to sneak upstairs, where they took out (or at least shot the legs of!) Hassan’s bodyguards. Steve soon cornered and pinned down Hassan himself, only to be briefly distracted by the streetside team (Danny and Catherine) getting surrounded by other guards. But after Harry phoned the local law woman he had “befriended,” she and her patrol cars pulled up and hauled away the goons. (Let’s all agree that the legalities of all this fall into a biiiiiig grey area.) Upstairs, Hassan taunted Steve to kill him, but McGarrett refused to continue the cycle, by having Hassan’s young son witness his own dad’s death. Besides, Steve wanted something more from Hassan than his blood — and he got it. Greer’s location.

Steve went knocking on Greer’s door, with Catherine providing backup. (It was a “reunion” of sorts for the trio, as an earlier flashback told us how Catherine always knew about Steve’s previous fling with Greer. OK.) Steve asked Greer why she would sell out her country and his SEAL team for any amount of money. “Maybe it wasn’t just about the money…. Maybe there were… other factors,” she teased, before reaching for her gun — at which point Catherine shot her, dead.

Having achieved some sense of closure/payback, the Hawaii team bid adieu to Gutches and then Rollins — but not before Steve shared a long-held secret with his ex. Having said that Joe White was more than just a mentor and father figure, Steve revealed via flashback how during a mission, Joe ordered a gravely wounded Steve to ask out Catherine if he survived. We then saw Steve ring her from his hospital bed and invite her to be his plus-one for an Army/Navy mixer. Rollins’ initial response, after Steve made clear it’d be a date? “What took you so long?”

“Let’s just say I took some good advice from an old friend.”

Back in the present, an emotionally moved Catherine told Steve, “I’m really glad you took his advice,” before hugging him good-bye. Yet again.

What did you think of Five-0‘s midseason premiere, the swiftly solved B-story mystery of discovered storage locker bones included? And what do you make of the “other factors” Greer alluded to? Could it be Steve’s child that she secretly had months after they first parted ways, that a ruthless Mexican cartel had been holding captive?

Star Wars 9 leak: Major Luke scene but he is NOT a Force ghost and it is NOT a flashback? https://briefnews.eu/star-wars-9-leak-major-luke-scene-but-he-is-not-a-force-ghost-and-it-is-not-a-flashback/ https://briefnews.eu/star-wars-9-leak-major-luke-scene-but-he-is-not-a-force-ghost-and-it-is-not-a-flashback/#respond Fri, 16 Nov 2018 00:37:05 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/star-wars-9-leak-major-luke-scene-but-he-is-not-a-force-ghost-and-it-is-not-a-flashback/

Will Rey get a new lightsaber? A recent image proved that the original Skywalker blue lightsaber was broken in the Last Jedi clash between Rey and Kylo Ren. Now a new leak describes an intense scene between Rey and Luke Skywalker, who is holding the other green lightsaber. It also describes Luke as not looking like a Force ghost and also clean shaven, which means it can not be flashback to their time spent together on Ahch-To, when the Jedi master had a beard all the time. What is going on?

As always, take any purported leaks with a huge pinch of salt.

It says: “Luke Skywalker in front of Rey on a jungle world. In the background are ancient stone steps that lead to some rooms which appear to be a Jedi Temple of some kind. Luke appears to be in his physical form as if he is not dead, but he may be a Force ghost and more solid this time. No blue hue is described in the sequence.

“Luke holds his iconic green lightsaber hilt in his hand but not ignited as Rey examines it. This could be one of Luke’s lessons to Rey, teaching her how to develop a lightsaber like his own.

“Luke’s face has no beard and shorter hair – shorter than his hair on Crait. He wears a brown robe with white sleeves.”

Fans already know that Hamill shaved his beard shortly before rerunning to film scenes for Episode 9 in the UK last month.

In The Last Jedi Luke promised Rey three lessons and only two were shown. The first lesson was when he taught her to sense the Force all around her in every thing, explaining that the Force was far too big to belong only to the Jedi.

Luke said; “To say if the Jedi die the light dies is vanity, don’t you see that?”

His second lesson was the belief that the Jedi had to end: “The legacy of The Jedi is failure, hypocrisy, hubris.” This is fuelled by the belief of Luke and others before him that the Jedi’s attempts to suppress human nature only ended in disaster.

So what about the third lesson?

Fans know there was a deleted scene, which was partially filmed, showing Rey rushing to rescue people under attack in a burning village on Ahch-To, before finding out it was actually a party. Luke had tricked her in order to teach her to think and act for herself and not follow an Order like the Jedi.

Will this be somehow world into the final film? It seems unlikely since Rey was angry with Luke’s tricks and the new leaked scene sounds more like a calm moment with the green lightsaber.

Abrams is known to betraying to incorporate as many iconic prequel and sequel elements into Episode 9 and the return of the green lightsaber would certainly thrill fans. Its location has not been confirmed although many believe it is among Luke’s belongings on Ahch-To.

As for Luke beardless and seeming alive, this will fuel desperate hopes that somehow Luke will be brought back to life, but it is more likely that he is some form of powerful ghost that is almost corporeal and has reverted to his classic clean-shaven appearance.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for season three, episode four of “Riverdale” titled, “The Midnight Club.”

“Riverdale’s” flashback episode did not disappoint.

Alice sat down with Betty to tell her a story from the parents’ junior year of high school. To depict young versions of the adults, the young cast of The CW’s “Riverdale” transformed into younger versions of the adults. The actors did a tremendous job portraying teen versions of the adults.

Here’s how the teens stacked up to young versions of the adult actors.

Lily Reinhart was convincing as a young Mädchen Amick.

The CW and ABC

Reinhart, who normally plays Betty, played Alice when she was still in the Southside Serpents.

KJ Apa nailed his transformation into young Luke Perry.

The CW and Worldvision Enterprises

Apa, who plays Archie, played Fred when he was a musician and baseball star.

Michael Consuelos made his TV debut as a young version of his real father Mark Consuelos.

Katie Yu/The CW and ABC

Mark plays Veronica’s dad Hiram.

Riverdale season 3: When is the flashback episode? When does it air? https://briefnews.eu/riverdale-season-3-when-is-the-flashback-episode-when-does-it-air/ https://briefnews.eu/riverdale-season-3-when-is-the-flashback-episode-when-does-it-air/#respond Thu, 18 Oct 2018 22:02:32 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/riverdale-season-3-when-is-the-flashback-episode-when-does-it-air/

Riverdale season three started back earlier this month on The CW.

Episodes air every Wednesday in the US and arrive on Netflix UK every Thursday morning at 8am.

Show creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed earlier this year there would be a flashback episode.

Here’s the low down of when the highly anticipated flashback episode will air.

When does the flashback episode air?

Aguirre-Sacada revealed at Comic-Con that the fourth episode of season three will be a flashback episode, following the parents of Riverdale as teenagers.

It will flashback to their relationships as teenagers and expose their “dark secrets.”

Lucky, fans will have to wait only two more weeks to see it.

Episode four will air on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31 on The CW in America.

It will then drop on Netflix UK the next day (Thursday, November 1).

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN EPISODE 3 OF RIVERDALE?

The title of the flashback episode has been revealed as “The Midnight Club”.

It is inspired by the 80s teen movie, The Breakfast Club but with a much darker twist.

Ironically, cast member Molly Ringwald, who plays Mary Andrews in Riverdale, starred in the original Breakfast Club.

Anthony Michael Hall, who also starred in the Breakfast Club alongside Ringwald will play Principal Featherhead.

Aguirre-Sacasa teased: “We’re going to learn about a really, really dark secret in Riverdale that the parents have been keeping since they were in high school.”

WHO PLAYS MAD DOG IN RIVERDALE SEASON 3?

Photos published by The CW reveal that the main cast will play their on-screen parents.

This means, KJ Apa who stars as Archie Andrews will play his dad Fred Andrews, who is currently played by Luke Perry.

Lili Reinhart will play her mother Alice Cooper (played by Madchen Amick) and Camilla Mendes who stars as Veronica Lodge will lay her mother Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols).

Cole Spouse who stars as Jughead Jones will play her father FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich).

WHAT HAPPENED TO BETTY COOPER IN RIVERDALE?

As the photos show, the resemblance between the main cast and their parents is uncanny.

Riverdale season 3, episode 3 will drop on Netflix next Thursday

Riverdale is turning back the clock in Season 3… and it turns out that Archie and the gang look pretty fly in ’90s fashions. (“Fly” was a compliment back in the ’90s, you see.)

In the CW teen drama’s Nov. 7 episode, titled “The Midnight Club,” we flash back to when the Riverdale parents were in high school, with the show’s young stars playing their on-screen parents. The network just released a number of first-look photos from the much-anticipated episode, which promise a few fun role reversals. KJ Apa is in full Luke Perry mode as a young Fred Andrews, with dark hair and a smoldering glare. (Hey, he could star on Beverly Hills, 90210!) Meanwhile, Camila Mendes nerds out as a young Hermione, in glasses and a prim schoolgirl uniform, and Lili Reinhart finds her inner badass as a young Alice, all Serpent-ed out in a leather jacket and (of course) a flannel shirt tied around her waist.

We also get our first glimpses of Cole Sprouse as F.P. — is he making a move on Hermione??? — Madelaine Petsch as Penelope, Ashleigh Murray as Sierra and Casey Cott as Tom “Future Sheriff” Keller. The episode finds the ’90s teens playing a role-playing game called Gryfons & Gargoyles — which may be connected to a murder. (This ties back to the present, where Dilton got hooked on the game and ranted and raved about a “Gargoyle King” in last week’s season premiere.)

Star Wars 9 leak: Luke and ANAKIN scene revealed and it's NOT a flashback? https://briefnews.eu/star-wars-9-leak-luke-and-anakin-scene-revealed-and-its-not-a-flashback/ https://briefnews.eu/star-wars-9-leak-luke-and-anakin-scene-revealed-and-its-not-a-flashback/#respond Fri, 12 Oct 2018 00:42:57 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/star-wars-9-leak-luke-and-anakin-scene-revealed-and-its-not-a-flashback/

Fans have been waiting to see Anakin Skywalker again ever since the final trilogy was announced.

Darth Vader made a shock return in Rogue One but this has always been the Skywalker saga, so it is fitting that Anakin Skywalker be there at the end.

There had been descriptions of Anakin concept art drawn up by JJ Abrams for The Force Awakens but the scene was never filmed.

Is Abrams bringing the father and son back together one last time – and how is this possible now that both are dead?

As filming gets underway with constant reporst of rewrites and shifting storylines, leaks and rumours describe concept art and tantalising scenes. As always, they should be taken with a large pinch of salt.

One sets up the possibility of a powerful moment when Luke and Anakin finally face each other. They shared a brief moment and exchanged smiles on Endor in The Return of the Jedi, but now they are both in the same place. They may be dead but every Star Wars fan knows that is no barrier to anything.

The leak reveals: “Specifically a description of Luke’s force ghost standing in a cave with many floating white orbs. In front of him is Anakin’s force ghost. However it does not appear be the youthful Hayden Christensen.

What the Force is going on?

The leak adds: “(The force ghost is) a fusion of Hayden and Sebastian Shaw, making the Hayden Anakin Force Ghost counterpart appear older yet familiar to both prequel fans and original trilogy fans.”

But is this really want fans want? It all sounds rather complicated and muddled.

Shaw played the original Anakin force ghost before Chrisensen’s prequel trilogy incarnation lead to the funeral scene being digitally updated with the younger star.

Fans have now canonised Hayden Christensen as the definitive Anakin. His performance was hugely divisive at the time, but over the years he has been more widely accepted.

There was a long-established description of plans in The Force Awakens to show a scene with the force ghost of Anakin wher his face flickered between Christensen and Darth Vader.

This would reflect his duality and the struggle he faced between the Light and Dark Sides. It also clearly ties in with Kylo Ren/Ben Solo’s inner battle.

The new description doesn’t make immediate sense.

While fans will be eager for any return of Anakn, especially if he interacts with his son Luke,  perhaps this is not the way they will want to see it handled.
