We are still three months from the 2018 NFL Draft, but players and teams are already jockeying for position, and experts are starting to weigh in on their early predictions with mock drafts.

We surveyed eight NFL Draft experts who have released mock drafts recently to get a consensus prediction for which players teams might be considering with all 32 first-round picks. Under this format, it is possible for the same player to appear in multiple spots and for some players with first-round talent to not appear at all if there is no consensus on where they might land. As we get closer to the draft we will be able to add more experts and we will start to see more agreement on most of the picks.

The experts: ESPN’s Mel Kiper, Walter Football, RJ White of CBSSports.com, USA Today’s Luke Easterling, Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com, Eric Galko of Sporting News, Rotoworld’s Josh Norris, and DraftTek.

1. Cleveland Browns — Sam Darnold, QB

Key expert quote: Rang: “Like any young player, Darnold has his flaws, most notably an elongated windup, which contributes to both fumbles and interceptions. 2. New York Giants — Josh Rosen, QB

But some team is going to draft him high — he has rare arm talent and has been much more secure with the ball than Darnold and Allen. The Giants could move into life after Eli Manning with a new franchise quarterback.”

The Colts will be looking for a new bell-cow back despite there being no proof that Frank Gore isn’t a warlock who has defeated the slow march of time, and if Barkley is there at No. 3, he could be the top name on the board for the Colts. It wouldn’t be too shocking to see them go pass-rusher or offensive lineman either. “

Murray pulled out of two exhibition matches last week citing a sore hip but cruised through to the second round today in his first competitive match for a fortnight.

He broke Bublik, world No135, twice in the opening set and overcame stiff resistance towards the end of the second to take that 6-4.

Two rain delays in quick succession interrupted the third but did nothing to upset Murray’s rhythm as he finished off a 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 victory.

During points, his hip problem appeared not to trouble him but his gait looked laboured between points, although he refuted the suggestion it might be related to his injury.

“I don’t know if that’s something that’s come over the last couple of weeks when my hip’s been sore,” Murray said.

“I’ve always done it, and everyone is sort of saying that I’m walking that way because of my hip. But I have no idea.

“I’m not in a lot of pain when I’m walking, that’s for sure. Whether it’s something that’s just happened these last couple of weeks, like, subconsciously, my hip’s been sore, I have no idea.

“But I’m certainly not hurting between the points.”

Murray will now face Dustin Brown, the exciting German player who is best known for his eccentric playing style.

It promises to be a match well worth watching and the world No1, who was pleased with the way he moved against Bublik, admitted he was genuinely looking forward to it.

“I know Dustin pretty well,” Murray added.

“We get on well with each other. We message each other from time to time. I like him. He’s really, really a nice guy.

“But, yeah, in terms of the match, I expect him to be very aggressive. I think he’ll go for his shots. I think he’ll come forward a lot.

“You know, he’s unpredictable. You know he’s going to go for it. Also you know he hits a lot of dropshots. He can play slice.

“Sometimes he hits two first serves, goes for a huge second serve. It’s not easy to play players like that.

He’s obviously had a big win here in the past against Rafa [Nadal, whom he beat in 2015].

“Whether he respects me or not, I’m going to go out on the court, you know, expecting to play great tennis, give it a good shot. I’ll need to be ready.”

Just hours after it emerged that Murray had made the magnificent gesture of donating his winnings from this tournament to victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Murray was despatched home with a loser’s cheque of just £12,000.

Furthermore, it calls into question his ability to defend the Wimbledon title he won last year on his way to becoming the world No.1.

Only once in the past five years has he been beaten by a lower-ranked opponent and this defeat was all the more devastating because the hopelessly out-of-sorts Murray believed he had put a difficult start to a year dogged with illness and injury behind him at the French Open.

Buoyed with confidence coming onto his favourite surface, Murray had been set to face British No.4 Aljaz Bedene.

The pair met here last year – a straight sets canter for the world No.1 – and 12 months down the line Bedene did not even make the warm-up, pulling out due to a wrist injury.

“I had problems in the French Open and it didn’t get any better so yesterday I had an MRI, which shows an injury on the right wrist,” he explained. “I am trying to see if it improves in the next week or so and if I am going to be ready for Wimbledon.”

As a result, it marked a major step up for Thompson, who reached the final at Surbiton nine days ago in a Challenger event.

The world No. 90 has been impressive in Australia’s Davis Cup campaign this year but has had little experience at senior tour level.

Yet it was the three-time grand slam winner who struggled from the start with his transition from the clay courts of Roland Garros, having to save three break points in his very first service game.

Murray lacked any sort of rhythm for the entire first set, struggling with his serve and even his drop-shots, so often the hallmark of his game, were awry.

Thompson got to a tie-break without Murray being able to lay so much as a glove on him, and when the 23-year-old double-faulted, it seemed that experience in the big points would see the home favourite through.

But Murray double-faulted himself and all of a sudden Thompson had three set points.

With the second of them, Murray hit such a weak overhead back-hand into the net that you wondered where this match was heading.

A dash of re-assuredness was mixed in with the Pimm’s when Murray was 0-40 up on Thompson’s next service game, but it was a false measure. Not only did the Australian defend them all but he proceeded to secure the first break of the match himself in a fifth game where Murray suddenly started missing lines badly.

Thompson, playing well above his usual level, was doing very little to give Murray any sort of encouragement.

Even Hawk-Eye was against the Scot, a line-call narrowly going out as Murray struggled to hold in his next service game. Yet another wayward forehand landed in the tramlines and suddenly Thompson was serving for the match.

A final ace completed the victory after 1hr 43 mins and Murray left a stunned Queen’s with a lot of thinking to do.

PARIS — French citizens have chosen centrist Emmanuel Macron and far-right Marine Le Pen to contest the final round of the presidential election, set to take place on May 7.

Macron picked up 23.8 percent of the vote to Le Pen’s 21.5 percent in Sunday’s first round, which saw a higher than expected turnout of 79 percent, according to the French interior ministry.

A 39-year-old former investment banker who has never stood for public office before, Macron is expected to beat Le Pen in the run-off election by a margin of around 20 points.

His support base is in the west of France, and major urban settlements, including the Ile-de-France region that includes Paris.

In the French capital, Macron picked up 35 percent of the vote, compared to Le Pen’s five, perhaps explaining the difficulty in finding voices willing to express support for National Front (FN) leader in the city. 

Al Jazeera asked Parisians how they felt about Sunday’s election and whether they believed a Le Pen victory is possible.

Emma said she was disappointed to see Le Pen go through to the run-off because the far-right leader has mulled taking France out of the EU.

She also fears the language Le Pen has used to describe refugees but does not believe she can beat Macron in the second round.

“I don’t see Marine Le Pen winning because many supporters of (Benoit) Hamon and (Francois) Fillon (eliminated candidates) are going to vote Macron.”

Lisa said it was “crazy” that Le Pen had reached the second round of the election, but added the high level of support for Melenchon among young people was a sign that they wanted change.

“The younger generation want something new, maybe Melenchon is too radical but we are stuck with politicians who do nothing,” she said, adding that she thought Le Pen had little chance of winning.

“All of the left is going to vote for Macron, and also a lot of the right, but we won’t know for sure until it happens.”

Sabrine, Adewele, and Charlene, are student interns at a insurance company in central Paris.

While being interviewed, a colleague outside of the frame joked that they looked like Marine Le Pen’s vision of France.

“One Beur (Arab), one black, one white,” he said sarcastically.

The trio are fans of leftist Jean-Luc Melenchon, but said they would now vote against Le Pen in the upcoming run-off vote.

“I plan to leave France if she becomes the next president,” said Sabrine, adding: “I don’t want my six-month old daughter growing up with Le Pen on her case.”

Adewele agreed and said he would move to an English-speaking country if Le Pen won, but does not think it is likely she will.

Charlene said Macron had “no charisma”, but people would vote for him because they wanted to “avoid having a President Le Pen”.

Hugo

Hugo did not vote in the first round despite being a Melenchon supporter, but said he would not risk the chance of Le Pen winning the second round.

“If French people made the effort to read Le Pen’s programme, they would understand how negative her proposals are,” he said.

“She can win and that’s why I’ll be voting in two weeks, if she does [win] then it’s a failure for France.”

Abdel

Abdel does not think Le Pen has a realistic chance of winning and thinks France will reject her on May 7:

“She has racist ideas and it’s not possible that France would elect such a president.”

Elodie said she was shocked that Macron had made the second round at the expense of conservative candidate Fillon.

She told Al Jazeera she does not support Le Pen but sexism would count against her.

“Marine Le Pen cannot win because she’s a woman … France is less open minded than people believe,” she said.

Christian called Macron the “face of France” and someone who would “modernise the French political system”.

When asked if Le Pen had a shot at winning, he said: “No, no, no, Marine Le Pen is not going to win … Macron in the Elysee (palace) is already a revolution, Le Pen won’t win now, and neither will she in 2022.”

PARIS (AP) — Pollsters projected that pro-Europe centrist Emmanuel Macron and far-right populist Marine Le Pen both advanced Sunday from the first round of voting in France’s presidential election, setting up a winner-takes-all runoff on May 7.

The selection of Le Pen and Macron would present voters with the starkest possible choice between two diametrically opposed visions of the European Union’s future and France’s place in it.

With Le Pen wanting France to leave the EU, and Macron wanting even closer cooperation between the bloc’s 28 member states, the projected outcome Sunday means the presidential runoff would have undertones of a referendum on France’s EU’s membership.

Voting took place amid heightened security in the first election under France’s state of emergency, which has been in place since gun-and-bomb attacks in Paris in 2015.
