  • The US and Japan were joined by Canadian forces for Keen Sword 19, which ended this week.
  • The exercise was the biggest and most sophisticated the US and Japan have carried out.
  • It comes amid growing tension with China in the seas and airspace of East Asia.

US and Japanese forces this week wrapped up exercise Keen Sword 19, which the US 7th Fleet commander called the “largest and most complex” field exercise conducted by the two longtime allies.

This year’s exercise, in which Canadian forces also took part, featured air, maritime, and amphibious exercises involving dozens of US and Japanese ships and hundreds of aircraft.

Good Morning Britain viewers tuned in to see the show hosted by Piers, 53, and Susanna, 47, where they were debating the latest Brexit negotiations.

Joining them in the studio was Stephen Doughty MP and former Brexit minister David Jones.

However, mid way through the conversation, Morgan went to put his point across to one of the guests, and Reid interrupted him, leaving him furious.

“Can I ask something,” Morgan began, “why the hell are we still talking about this Irish issue?”

“Because we didn’t talk about it enough before the referendum,” Reid interjected.

“Do you mind not interrupting me?” Morgan said, but Reid challenged him and replied: “Why not?”

Taken aback, Morgan stated: “Because I think it’s very rude.”

“It’s what you do all the time,” Reid pointed out, “I though I’d take a leaf out of your book,” she added giggling.

“And you always remind me it’s very rude!” Morgan remarked.

Keen to bring the conversation back to the debate, Doughty interjected and said: “Shall I, shall I interrupt you as well, we’re still talking about it because…”

However, Morgan took back control: “I haven’t finished my sentence so you can stop interrupting me as well.

“Here’s my point. Why are we still debating how these things work, two years after a referendum?

“I blame all the politicians here, for not actually thrashing all these issues out before people voted,” Morgan explained.

“Exactly, what I just said,” Reid commented.

Unable to resist bickering, Morgan replied: “Yes but I was about to say it.”

It comes after Prime Minister Theresa May is due to address EU leaders on her position in the negotiations ahead of the summit dinner in Brussels tonight.

However, May will be absent from the meal, as the leaders of the 27 nations staying in the EU following Brexit  will be discussing the state of the talks.

It comes after May has had difficulty in negotiating the status of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

As following March 29 neat year, when Britain has left the EU, they intend to become the border between the UK an the EU.

Both sides have expressed the desire to avoid the border becoming “hard”, for example having checkpoints or other physical infrastructure to carry out checks on goods.

Nevertheless they are struggling to agree on how that should be done.

The European Council president, Donald Tusk, has said he had “no grounds for optimism” about the Irish border being solved at tonight’s summit.

He has also called on May to come up with ‘concrete proposals” to break the “impasse”.

The prime minister has told her cabinet a deal was within reach if the government “stand together and stand firm”.

And it seems she has the support from French finance minister Bruno Le Maire, who confirmed a Brexit deal was not far away.

In an interview with France’s Radio Classique he said: “We are not far from a deal.”

Blackout UPDATE: Just finished the Black Ops 4 beta? Do NOT delete your Call of Duty files https://briefnews.eu/blackout-update-just-finished-the-black-ops-4-beta-do-not-delete-your-call-of-duty-files/ https://briefnews.eu/blackout-update-just-finished-the-black-ops-4-beta-do-not-delete-your-call-of-duty-files/#respond Tue, 14 Aug 2018 16:52:18 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/blackout-update-just-finished-the-black-ops-4-beta-do-not-delete-your-call-of-duty-files/

players have just finished the second Black Ops 4 beta test with the highly anticipated Blackout battle royale mode next up.

Activision have already confirmed that in September the Blackout beta will be launched, one month ahead of the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 release date.

Blackout is the brand new and highly anticipated battle royale mode for Call of Duty and marks COD’s first attempt at the huge new genre.

And ahead of the Blackout beta being launched, Activision has issued a warning to Call of Duty Black Ops 4 players.

In a post on Reddit developers Treyarch revealed that those who took part in the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta should not delete their game files.

This is because the game file from the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta will be updated for the Blackout beta.

So, once that goes live there will be no need for Call of Duty fans to re-download Black Ops 4 again.

Treyarch posted: “Thank you everyone for the feedback from this weekend. As you get to take a breath, let us know your thoughts.

“Also, quick heads-up that the game file from this weekend will be updated for the upcoming Blackout beta, so no need to download the full game again.”

An official release date for the Blackout beta has not been revealed yet.

However, it looks like an announcement on the Blackout beta launch could be coming soon.

In a blog post at the end of the Black Ops 4 beta Treyarch said Blackout fans could “expect to get some insight into what’s next pretty soon”.

They added: “After all, September is only a few weeks away”.

This could be a tease that the Blackout beta release date will be revealed by Activision within the next few weeks.

David Vonderhaar, Studio Design Director at Treyarch, spoke last month about the upcoming Blackout mode.

He said: “Everyone who works on Blackout or plays is always eager to share a story they have.

“That game session might be a triumphant victory or a tragic loss — it might be how land, sea, and air vehicles collided in unexpected ways for a final showdown — or, it just might be a funny fail moment.

“No matter what, when people get done playing and want to tell the story of what happened to them afterwards, you know you have something special.”

While Treyarch Senior Producer Yale Miller added: “The team has been having a ridiculous amount of fun playing it internally.

“We are so excited to be able to share that fun with you in September.

“The community feedback generated from going hands-on is always incredibly important, and it’s never been more so than with Blackout.”

‘Judge Dredd’ TV Show Script is Finished, First Two Seasons Planned Out https://briefnews.eu/judge-dredd-tv-show-script-is-finished-first-two-seasons-planned-out/ https://briefnews.eu/judge-dredd-tv-show-script-is-finished-first-two-seasons-planned-out/#respond Mon, 23 Jul 2018 23:06:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/judge-dredd-tv-show-script-is-finished-first-two-seasons-planned-out/ Judge Dredd TV show

We may never see comic book character Judge Dredd in a film sequel to 2012’s underperforming-but-instant-cult-favorite Dredd, but fans are now one step closer to seeing him take the law into his own hands on the small screen. The Judge Dredd TV show, entitled Judge Dredd: Mega-City One, now has a completed pilot script, and the writers have charted out the first two seasons in the event it gets picked up as a series.

Find out which Dredd veteran wrote the script and learn more about the project below.

This weekend at San Diego Comic-Con International, word came out that Rob Williams, who has written stories featuring the Judge Dredd character in the U.K. anthology comic 2000 AD for more than a decade, served as the “creative lead” for the TV pilot script. The Hollywood Reporter says he teamed with a number of other writers to break the stories for the first two seasons of Judge Dredd: Mega-City One, which isn’t a Dredd solo show but instead an ensemble piece about the brutal, take-no-prisoners police force in a futuristic megalopolis that takes up a majority of the east coast of the United States.

Word about this series first came out in May of 2017, when IM Global and Rebellion Productions announced that they were teaming up to bring this authoritarian comic to life. Karl Urban spent the entirety of 2012’s Dredd under the character’s iconic helmet (unlike Sylvester Stallone in the godawful 1995 movie adaptation), and while he’s been asked a million times since then if he’s interested in returning for a sequel, it turns out that he’s had conversations about reprising the role in the TV series. Whether or not that actually happens still remains to be seen, but fans who have wanted to see more of his interpretation of the character have to be pleased that the option at least still appears to be on the table.

Rebellion creative director and CEO Jason Kingsley is on board as an executive producer, while Brian Jenkins will serve as a producer. In a statement, Kingsley said:

“I’ve read the pilot script by Rob and the team, and got that same thrill I did when I first discovered Judge Dredd. As we drive this project forward I’m always surprised by how much effort goes on behind-the-scenes to bring something like Mega-City One to the screen. I’m very pleased with how the whole project is coming together and looking forward to more exciting announcements in the coming months.”

Still no word on directors, actors, or an official timetable for this series, but we’ll keep you updated about Judge Dredd: Mega-City One as soon as we hear more. Here’s the trailer for Dredd to give you a reminder of what Urban looks like in action as the title character:

‘Cash survived the drink and drugs …but heartburn finished him off’ https://briefnews.eu/cash-survived-the-drink-and-drugs-but-heartburn-finished-him-off/ https://briefnews.eu/cash-survived-the-drink-and-drugs-but-heartburn-finished-him-off/#respond Sun, 24 Jun 2018 02:55:45 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/cash-survived-the-drink-and-drugs-but-heartburn-finished-him-off/

Dr Michael Hunter reveals his conclusion in a new episode of the TV documentary series Autopsy: The Last Hours Of… which airs tonight in the US and later this year in the UK.

In a painstaking examination of Cash’s medical records from childhood to his death in September 2003, aged 71, Dr Hunter identifies “reckless” drug abuse, out-of-control diabetes and a smoking habit since the age of 10 as contributory factors.

He says the gravel-voiced star’s history of heart problems, including a double bypass operation, and regular bouts of pneumonia, possibly caused by the air he inhaled growing up on a Dust Bowl farm in Arkansas, all played a part in his downward health spiral.

However, Dr Hunter is convinced an extreme case of a far more common ailment – acid reflux or heartburn – was the underlying reason behind his death almost 15 years ago.

He reached the conclusion after discovering Cash was still taking an astonishing cocktail of 30 prescription drugs a day, right up until he died.

Friends confirmed Cash was suffering so intensely from heartburn he could only sleep sitting upright in bed.

Dr Hunter declared: “This was an extreme case of polypharmacy, where so many drugs were being taken there was a risk of dangerous interaction between them. Too many medications can be poisonous and toxic.”

At the same time, nerve damage caused by Cash’s diabetes was severely affecting his stomach, according to the doctor, “which was unable to regulate the amount of gastric acid being produced.

“Over time, acid built up in the stomach until it was ejected into his oesophagus and into his trachea. At this point, the acid would seep into his throat and lungs, causing enormous damage”.

X-rays showed Cash’s lungs to be virtually black as a result of six decades of chain-smoking.

Dr Hunter added: “What little healthy lung tissue that was left was compromised by the acid, leading to respiratory failure and his death.”

He declared: “Johnny lived up to his tough, outlaw image.

“He made his own rules and lived the life he wanted, despite putting his body through everything he did.

It shows what an incredible fighter he was and just how resilient the human body can be.”

Cash sold 90 million records worldwide, including the hits Ring Of Fire and I Walk The Line.

However, Dr Hunter dismisses the poignant notion that he died of a broken heart just four months after the death of June, his beloved wife of 35 years.

“The pain of her being gone is more than I can stand,” Cash had declared.

But Dr Hunter said: “Although it sounds improbable, there is a condition called stress-induced cardiomyopathy, which is also known as broken heart syndrome.

“It’s commonly described as the physical pain in the heart or chest area resulting from a surge in stress hormones.

“This can be triggered by an emotionally stressful event, such as the death of a loved one.”

He added: “Broken heart syndrome mimics symptoms of a heart attack and, even though Johnny had heart problems, there is no evidence he suffered a heart attack when he died, so I can rule this out as a cause of death.”

‘Game of Thrones’ Just Finished Filming the Biggest Battle Scene in the Show’s History https://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-just-finished-filming-the-biggest-battle-scene-in-the-shows-history/ https://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-just-finished-filming-the-biggest-battle-scene-in-the-shows-history/#respond Mon, 09 Apr 2018 23:12:38 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-just-finished-filming-the-biggest-battle-scene-in-the-shows-history/ Game of Thrones battle

If you thought Game of Thrones battle scenes were big before, wait until you get a load of what’s coming in season 8. The HBO fantasy series recently finished shooting the largest battle in the show’s history, and considering how big its previous battles were, it’s practically a given that this new clash will end up holding the record for the biggest battle scene that the television medium has ever seen. Read more about the upcoming Game of Thrones battle scene below.

Watchers on the Wall, a popular and reliable Game of Thrones fan site, relays the news that HBO has finally wrapped production on one upcoming battle scene that took a staggering 55 straight nights to film. That’s more than double what it took to film season 6’s “The Battle of the Bastards” (25 days) and season 7’s Loot Train Attack from “The Spoils of War” (23 days), which are two of the show’s biggest battle scenes thus far.

The production featured between 400-500 extras, and took place in multiple locations: one was at the Moneyglass estate in Toome, Northern Ireland, and the other was close to where the Castle Black sequences used to be filmed, near Magheramorne Quarry. An assistant director named Jonathan Quinlan posted a photo to Instagram (and since removed it) of a note from producers thanking the crew for their hard work during the shoot. You can see a cached version of Quinlan’s image at WoTW, but in the interest of not being sued, I’ll just type out what the note said:

This is for the Night Dragons.

For enduring 55 straight nights. For enduring the cold, the snow, the rain, the mud, the sheep shit of Toome and the winds of Magheramorne.

When tens of millions of people around the world watch this episode a year from now, they won’t know how hard you worked. They won’t care how tired you were or how tough it was to do your job in sub-freezing temperatures.

They’ll just understand that they’re watching something that’s never been done before.

And that’s because of you.

Thank you,
The Producer Types

Is “night dragons” simply a nickname for those who had to work during these night shoots, or could the name indicate that dragons are involved in this battle? We know this battle takes place at Winterfell, but there’s been some question about whether or not the attack is from the Night King and his zombie ice dragon or if the battle is from Cersei sending her forces north from King’s Landing. We still aren’t 100% sure about who this huge sequence involves, but based on a recent tease from an HBO executive, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few recognizable characters bite the dust during this battle.

I just hope that the production is able to keep the characters at the center of the fight this time. The Battle of the Bastards was impressive as a piece of spectacle entertainment, but it didn’t have any heart behind it. The Loot Train Attack was a bit better in that regard, but I’m hoping the showrunners remember that while it’s always fun to see a filmed fictional battle on a scale that’s never been accomplished before, the only reason we care about any of the action is because of the characters we know as we track their motivations. Either way, it appears that we’re in for one of the most jaw-dropping moments in TV history when Game of Thrones season 8 returns, which will happen sometime in 2019.

'Winds of Winter is FINISHED and I have a copy' Fan frenzy after THIS cover image posted https://briefnews.eu/winds-of-winter-is-finished-and-i-have-a-copy-fan-frenzy-after-this-cover-image-posted/ https://briefnews.eu/winds-of-winter-is-finished-and-i-have-a-copy-fan-frenzy-after-this-cover-image-posted/#respond Tue, 03 Apr 2018 22:23:38 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/winds-of-winter-is-finished-and-i-have-a-copy-fan-frenzy-after-this-cover-image-posted/

Westeros is already freezing over.

Many fans, however, are starting to worry that Hell will also have a particularly cold snap before they ever see the long-awaited sixth book in the cycle.

George RR Martin has promised that one or possibly two Westeros works will hit bookshelves this year, although the spin off Targaryen history, Blood and Fire, is likely to be the first out of the gate.

A new post yeasterday shocked fans by claiming that advance copies were in circulation – and it was a day late to be an April Fool’s joke.

Reddit user JudasCrinitus posted: “The Winds of Winter is completed and I have a copy.”

The post also included a spoiler link to the cover art showing a redhead beauty with a handsome blond man against a snowy background, with dark woods and a tower in the background.

While some commentators were swift to rejoice at the union of ‘Sansa and Jaime’, others were flabbergasted at how short the book seemed.

Naturally, by now everyone had worked out that it was a good-natured jest and revelled in a chance to poke some affectionate fun at the long wait and dawdling author.

The best comments include:

“Is that Jaime with Sansa!?!”

“That is Jaime and Melisandre about to get it on and create a shadow Barristan Selmy.”

“So Sansa finally gets her knight in shinning armour, and a dragon slaying one too!”

“Seriously George, that’s what you were working on for 7 years!?”

“He spent the last 4 years trimming it down. Some argue he may have trimmed too much.”

“He left out the food descriptions.”

“He spent so many years making us wait and yet it’s so short?? No wonder he used a pen name. Clearly ashamed. Digging the new art style though. Very classy.”

Winds of Winter: Is THIS a hint that George RR Martin has FINISHED Game of Thrones book 6? https://briefnews.eu/winds-of-winter-is-this-a-hint-that-george-rr-martin-has-finished-game-of-thrones-book-6/ https://briefnews.eu/winds-of-winter-is-this-a-hint-that-george-rr-martin-has-finished-game-of-thrones-book-6/#respond Sun, 25 Mar 2018 09:36:30 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/winds-of-winter-is-this-a-hint-that-george-rr-martin-has-finished-game-of-thrones-book-6/

Fans on Reddit have spotted a small clue that it could well be the case, although it’s certainly far from a surefire sign.

Martin announced earlier this year that he was taking a break from his Livejournal blog while he worked on his vast number of projects – including the sixth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series; which famously sparked the TV series Game of Thrones.

This week a couple more posts have appeared on his site, however, but there’s been one very small sign that something exciting is coming up very soon.

At the bottom of each post he publishes, Martin fills out his Current Location and Current Mood. The former information has been missing for the last two blog entires.

In his post dated March 21st, he alluded to something intriguing when he said under Location: “that would be telling”.

Then, on a post dated yesterday – March 24 – he said his Location was a “Hidden Fortress”.

Given that he’s normally so open with his whereabouts (Sante Fe, more often than not), why the sudden secrecy?

Over on the A Song of Ice and Fire thread on Reddit, fans have taken it as a small morsel of a hint that perhaps he could be in New York meeting his editor about Winds of Winter.

The original poster, CoolStoryMoe, quipped: “Stalking the Notablog on a Saturday like a true madman, I just noticed that in GRRM’s two latest blog entries, he has set his location to ‘That would be telling’ and ‘Hidden fortress’. Normally his location is always set to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

“This obviously means that he is in New York right now with his editor. And why would he visit his editor now? Because Winds of Winter is finished. I mean, it’s the only logical answer. Right? RIGHT?!”

Tongue in cheek it may be, but in the absence of any other signs of The Winds of Winter’s current progress, it’s certainly a possibility.

Still, other fans have been quick to point out a multitude of other reasons why Martin is being cryptic with his locations.

One said he’s “probably planning the official Fire and Blood announcement”; referring to the companion book that’s set for release later this year.

“It’s a crossbrand thing with Wild Cards!” someone else suggested, while a third wrote: “Or he has a cameo in the final season of Game of Thrones which requires filming.”

Whatever the case, it seems unlikely that the book will arrive before the final season of the TV show, which is slated for this time next year.

It’s been called “the best restaurant in the world, period” by Anthony Bourdain. But a stunning renovation of the French Laundry shows there’s always room for improvement.

Chef Thomas Keller’s iconic Napa Valley restaurant has finally wrapped up a remodel that cost $ 10 million and began four years ago. The crown jewel is a new kitchen designed with special attention to ergonomics and acoustics, in order to make life easier for its award-winning chefs.

Take a look inside.

The French Laundry, located in Yountville, California, looks like a humble stone cottage from the street.
