Charlie Hunnam was originally set to play Christian Grey in the erotic trilogy, before he bowed out of the role due to an overloaded schedule. But in a new interview, he’s revealed that the money he would have made from taking the role alongside Dakota Johnson would have been “so much”. That job – and, presumably, that salary – ultimately went to Dornan.

Hunnam told CinemaBlend last year: “Well, I’d be a lot wealthier [if I kept the role]. I’d be a lot wealthier.

“I was gonna get paid a fortune. So much.”

Now, in a more recent interview with Newsweek, he has reflected on the whole situation – admitting he hasn’t seen any of those films.

“I don’t see myself in that role at all because it would have been totally different,” he said.

“I think what acting is, is trying to create a character and you put half of yourself into it, [a] bit more than half.

“So that’s Jamie Dornan’s character, you know? I haven’t seen them but I’m sure he did an excellent job.”

He elaborated: “I started to realise that my, my vision of who that guy was, was not everybody else’s vision.

“You can’t get into a film, let alone three films, totally at odds with the rest of the filmmaking community or the creative community involved in something because it’s just going to be [a] miserable experience.

“It was better for me just to extract myself from the process, but no regrets.”

Hunnam has since gone on to star in the likes of Triple Frontier, Papillon alongside Rami Malek and Crimson Peak.

Dornan, meanwhile, has recently appeared in Robin Hood and A Private War.

His co-star Johnson has starred in the likes of Suspiria and Bad Times At The El Royale.

The actor, who played Christian Grey in the trilogy, was one of the winners at the recent Manatomy Awards – otherwise known as the “naked Oscars”. It seems his sex scenes with co-star Dakota Johnson have given him a rather bizarre new accolade to add to his CV: Best Butt.

According to The Sun, his backside was victorious in the Best Butt category late last month.

So despite the poor critical reception of the Fifty Shades films, they have gone entirely without reward…

Dornan’s in good company: other winners included recently decorated Rami Malek alongside Charlie Hunnam.

The actors’ violent shower scene in last year’s Papillon won them Best Buns Behind Bars.

Best Picture was awarded to Call Me By Your Name, while Altered Carbon managed Best TV Show.

Chris Pine’s famous full frontal moment in Outlaw King won him Best Nude Debut, while KJ Apa of Riverdale won Best Shirtless.

Best Gay Scene went to God’s Own Country; and the moment between Josh O’Connor and Alec Secareanu.

John Cena, meanwhile, took home Best Buff Butt for last year’s comedy Blockers.

Could the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffiths swap S&M games for the PVC and leather of DC’s sexiest superhero?

Dakota Johnson is currently starring in the terrifying and controversial horror movie Suspiria, from Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guardagnino.

Robbie and Warner Bros are still in the early stages of casting and pre-production on Birds of Prey. The movie will unite some of DC’s most iconic female villains, from Robbie’s Harley Quinn to Poison Ivy, Huntress and Canary.

But what about Catwoman? Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway have already put their stamps on the role, but could Johnson be the purr-fect choice?

Johnson spilled her Catwoman hopes during a video interview with Vanity Fair. This particular format makes the stars take a lie detector test as they are asked various probing questions.

Asked if she would consider a Marvel movie role and if so which one, the actress immediately said: “Yes. Catwoman.”

She immediately realised it is a DC not a Marvel role but her speedy and unhesitating response has raised eyebrows – and hopes. The star also opened up about how she felt filming sexy Fifty Shades scenes and how much she has in common with her iconic character, Anastasia.

So far, Birds of Prey has cast Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya and Jurnee Smollet-Bell as Black Canary.

It is unclear whether the Suicide Squad spin-off will incorporate Quinn’s villanous love, Jared Leto’s divisive Joker.

Nor has teher been any indication yet whether Catwoman will make an appearance.

With the DCEU undergoing major shifts, Johnson could also be perfect for the upcoming The Batman movie, which may still star Ben Affleck but is also reported to be aiming for a look at the earlier years of the Caped Crusader.

During the Vanity fair lie detector test, Johnson also opens up about Fifty Shades.

She reveals she does not have anything in common with Anastasia and then that she does. She is clearer when she dellares they do not like the same kinds of men and that she found filming some of the scenes very “awkward”.

The latter movie is a divisive horror remake, set to leave audiences seriously unsettled when it releases later this year.

It sees Johnson playing a dancer, and the training for it was so intense that she had to begin it six months prior to filming.

During those six months, she was working with Jamie Dornan on the relentlessly steamy Fifty Shades finale in Vancouver.

“It was amazing to discover that I could do that with my body, but it was a lot of work, it was a lot of training,” she told Reuters.

“I worked for six months before filming.”

She added: “I was filming another movie in Vancouver, the third Fifty Shades movie, and I would go after work or before to train with the trainer.”

Suspiria is set to take its toll on cinemagoers with its gory content and slow-burning tension – a complete change of pace from the EL James erotic trilogy.

But Johnson recently confirmed that previous claims she made about going to therapy after filming it may have been misunderstood.

“First of all, I was not psychoanalysed and I hope I never will be,” she said, as reported by Digital Spy.

“I find sometimes when I work on a project and — I don’t have any shame in this — I’m a very porous person and I absorb a lot of people’s feelings.

“When you’re working sometimes with dark subject matter, it can stay with you and then to talk to somebody really nice about it afterwards is a really nice way to move on from the project.

“My therapist is a really nice woman.”

She added: “It [filming] was the most fun and the most exhilarating and the most joyful that it could be.

“It’s mischievous and play[ful] and I love it more than anything. It wasn’t that this film sent me to a ward, I just have a lot of feelings.”

Suspiria has had a mixed reception from critics thus far: its Rotten Tomatoes score stands at 53%.

Suspiria is out on November 16.

The new version will whip fans into a frenzy.

After all the shocking things that have been shown exploring the wilder side of sex and sadomasochism, one little thing remains hidden. Well, not so little if the actor himself is to be believed.

The new home entertainment packages will include a host of deleted scenes, documentaries and bonus features as well as a raunchier, ruder unrated version with more explicit footage than was shown in cinemas.

And speaking of packages…

The new unrated version of the final movie in the saucy saga, Fifty Shades Freed, includes sex scenes in the bedroom and in the shower, as well as a romp on the deck of a yacht.

Christian Grey is shown removing Anastasia’s bra and panties in the sizzling footage and fans will also see a lot more of the billionaire S&M master himself.

The shower scenes gives fans plenty of time to admire his toned torso before he saunters away and flexes his muscular buttocks.

The director has already revealed that Dornan fimed some deleted scenes totally naked and full frontal. Will all, literally, be revealed now?

James Foley confirmed: “There were actually scenes that we shot where it was (full-frontal nudity)… There’s plenty of dailies (rolling tapes of footage)… but it just didn’t make the final cut.”

A rumour spread that Dornan had been paid $ 1million to go completely naked.

He said: “It was $ 30 million—to show one testicle… No, that whole thing with offering more money to go nude? That didn’t happen. You see my ar** quite a lot. That doesn’t really bother me. You see a lot of Dakota’s t**s. I would show my t**s if I had them.” 

The new footage certainly shows his “ar** quite a lot” both in the shower and another sex scene where he is on top of Dakota Johnson.

Fans will have to wait for the release to find out if the he goes the Full Monty.

Johnson earned big acclaim in the erotic trilogy, despite the films themselves being widely panned by critics.

Now, with those Jamie Dornan co-starring efforts behind her, attention turns to her next release: Suspiria, which has recently wrapped production.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino and co-starring Tilda Swinton and Chloe Grace Moretz, it’s a reboot of the 1977 film of the same name – about a young aspiring dancer (Johnson) who attends a prestigious academy, only to discover its dark secrets.

Speaking to Elle, she said the film “no lie, f**ked me up so much that I had to go to therapy”.

With no confirmed release date, the drama is expected to land at some point in the second half of 2018 via Amazon Studios.

In the same interview, Johnson spoke about how the projects she would love to work on don’t currently exist.

“I’ve come to terms with the fact that the projects I want to work on don’t exist, so I’m going to have to create them for myself,” she explained.

“I feel incredibly grateful that I’m in a position to do that.

“There are many more experiences to have. It’s really good to still be learning the thing I love.”

Johnson’s other upcoming credits include The Peanut Butter Falcon, and an untitled thriller alongside Armie Hammer and Zazie Beetz.

The movie began principle photography earlier this month and is said to be on a fast-track for release next March.

The Irish star has had plenty of blush-inducing moments on the big screen over the past few years.

His three movies as Christian Grey presented him as a sexually voracious and uninhibted S&M master.

He even filmed full-frontal scenes that fans are hoping will make it onto the home entertainment DVD and Blu-ray packages.

However, none of these moments made the actor and former model feel as a truly “creepy” moment that happened some years ago.

Dornan was a world-famous male model before he broke into fashion, used to flashing his taught torso in magazines and on billboards in fashion spreads and adverts for major brands like Calvin Klein.

He revealed that sometimes, though, photographers would try to take advantage of him when he was still relatively young and inexperienced.

He told Elle sometimes a line was crossed: “Yeah, dude. Fu***. Early on? F***. You’d be sent to these dodgy little apartments around London  (and told) ‘Oh, this up-and-coming photographer wants to meet you and take a couple of Polaroids. It’ll be really good for your portfolio.’

“I remember one guy… he was like, ‘Let’s take some pictures… Take off your trousers.'”

Dornan revealed his fury and discomfort at being put in such a vulnerable position.

He added: ”I said, ‘Look, I kinda want to leave.’ I was getting dressed. He kept coming in, acting like he’d left something in the room. There was nothing in that room except for a chair.

“Then he stopped me at the door, and I’ll never forget this, he said he was going to make Spaghetti Bolognese for us and open a bottle of wine. I called my agent and said, ‘Don’t ever f***ing send me to one of these creepy bast***s again.”

The Fifty Shades Freed packages will include over 30 minutes of bonus footage including a deleted scene. Will this include the full-frontal Fifty Shades scene Jamie Dornan filmed but which was cut from the cinema release?

So far only one deleted scene has been announced and it looks like Dornan’s modesty will be preserved.

The erotic movie – filmed concurrently with predecessor Fifty Shades Darker – sees Dornan and Johnson playing Christian Grey and Ana Steele for the final time.

The film fared well at the box office, helping push the overall trilogy to over $ 1.2 billion in takings.

Speaking in an official interview for the movie, shared on YouTube, Dornan reflected on his experiences of working with Johnson.

“Dakota’s an incredible actress, and a true professional,” he said.

“As silly as she can be – and she can be very silly – she just has a great way of navigating every area Ana is put through.

“The humour of it, the heartbreak of it, the incredulousness of it. The struggle to understand Christian.

“She played all of those beats with such ease. She’s a very naturally gifted actor.”

Johnson, in her own one-to-one interview, was similarly complimentary about him.

“If we didn’t get along it would have been so heartbreaking because the reason why we have a special relationship on screen is because we have an even more special relationship off-screen,” she explained.

Johnson’s upcoming projects include a thriller with Armie Hammer, said to be fast-tracked for release in 2019.

She’s also currently shooting alongside Chris Hemsworth, while Dornan will shortly be seen in a new telling of Robin Hood.

The new movie does not currently have a name, but Johnson was reported by Variety late last week to be in line to star.

It’s already been fast-tracked to a hasty release date: March 29, 2019; with Babak Anvari writing and directing.

The thriller is about a New Orleans bartender (Hammer) whose life starts to fall apart when he picks up a phone left behind at his bar.

Zazie Beetz, who will be introduced to a wider audience as a key player in Deadpool 2 this summer, is also on board.

Fifty Shades was a great launchpad for Johnson; shooting to an overall trilogy gross of over $ 1 billion.

She’s also set to star in Peanut Butter Falcon, an indie movie opposite Shia LaBeouf, and the intriguing Suspiria.

Fifty Shades Freed, meanwhile, will land on DVD and Blu-ray on June 18.

Luckily the actress was only kidding when she referred to her Fifty Shades Freed co-star as “rude” – and it’s a perfect example of the jovial rapport the two actors clearly have with one another.

Speaking on Good Morning America in promotion of the movie, she was talking about the film’s risqué sex scenes – and specifically how easy Dornan found it to be in shape.

“It’s so annoying,” she quipped, as Dornan laughed beside her.

“He truly eats whatever he wants.

“He’ll just jump around for fifteen minutes and then eat a roll of bread stuffed with cheese and potato chips, and six candy bars, and then take off his shirt.

“It’s rude!”

Fifty Shades Freed remains in rotation at cinemas worldwide, after making an impressive debut at the box office last month.

Its performance has been slightly weaker than last year’s Fifty Shades Darker, but it has helped nudge it to over $ 1.25 billion for the whole trilogy.

It’s not all been good news: last week Darker was among the ‘winners’ at the Razzie Awards.

Kim Basinger won Worst Supporting Actress, while the movie also won Worst Remake, Sequel or Rip-Off.

Fifty Shades Freed is out now.
