Nobody would blink if it turned out that the current Queen on the Iron Throne was lying.

The Lannister twin has a history of deceit, betrayal and self-interest to rival any in the Seven Kingdoms and beyond.

Plus, that pesky prophecy by Maggie the Frog already revealed that Cersei will only have three children, all of whom will die. Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen have duly done so.

However, it really does seem like Cersei thinks she is pregnant again – so what is going on? Is she lying or did clever old Olenna Tyrell already figure it out?

Will Tyrion and Jaime ever forgive her?

While the TV show has now far outstripped the source novels, George RR Martin has remained  fully involved in the HBO production and is known to have give the creators the main outlines of what is coming up in Books 6 and 7. Despite numerous diversions from the novels, it is unlikely that a Cersei pregnancy storyline is one, since the issue has been so heavily set up with the prophecy and Cersei’s fear that her “little brother” will kill her.

Many fans are not convinced by the prevailing theory that Cersei will give birth to a dwarf and die in childbirth as the ultimate twist on her hatred for Tyrion.

A huge new theory has exploded with hundreds of comments and thousands of votes. 

Reddit users dualportaldestinies submitted the modern medical idea that Cersei is not pregnant, she is actually starting the menopause.

They said: “As menopause and pregnancy share a lot of the same symptoms, for example missed periods, feelings of bloating, mood swings and weight gain, could it be that Cersei is currently going through the menopause, but she and everyone else believes that she is pregnant?”

Olenna Tyrell of Highgarden had already warned Cersei that the “change” would be upon her very soon.

It certainly preferable to the other options.

Commentators have been quick to weigh in.

One wrote: “Qyburn said ‘I can give you something…’ when Jamie walked in on the two of them talking. We all thought it meant giving her moon tea in case Cersei wanted to abort the child but it also makes sense that Qyburn could give Cersei some medicine for her menopause symptoms.”

Another added: “I believed she was faking it for strategy (first to keep Jaime close, second to give Tyrion a reasonable excuse for why she would accept the truce) but figured it was just her being ruthless. Could definitely see it being menopause now.”

Menopause may be another blow to Cersei’s complicated psyche, especially since the prophecy also refers to a “younger queen” taking all she holds dear.

It is prefereable to another theory which fits the prophecy but suggests the baby is dead but Qyburn will use his dark maester arts to animate it, like The Mountain.

Whatever the truth turns out to be, it’s safe to say that Cersei won’t make the outcome easy on herself or anyone around her…

A 32-year-old American man accused of using an eBay account for fake computer-printer transactions to raise funds for a US terror plot pleaded guilty to federal terrorism-related charges Tuesday.

Mohamed Elshinawy, whom the government said pledged allegiance to ISIS, told the authorities that the up to $ 8,700 he received via PayPal was to be used for “operational purposes” (PDF) in the US, like conducting a terror attack. However, he also told the authorities, according to court documents, that he was just ripping off overseas ISIS operatives and had no intention of carrying out an attack in the US.

Loeb will executive-produce Marvel’s Runaways alongside showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, The O.C.). Runaways comic co-creator Brian K. Vaughn will serve as an executive consultant.

AT THE start of 2014 a senior official in the statistics bureau of Liaoning, an industrial province in north-eastern China, told his army of boffins to cultivate a spirit of innovation in their work. “Liberate your minds,” he exhorted an annual planning meeting. They took him at his word. In one of the biggest scandals to rock the murky world of Chinese economic data, the government admitted this month that Liaoning had faked its fiscal data from 2011 to 2014, inflating revenues by about 20%.

For those inclined to distrust all Chinese numbers, the announcement was simple vindication. But a closer look paints a different picture: of central authorities wanting to get a better read on the economy but being impeded at the local level—and by one of the usual suspects at that.

In manipulating statistics, Liaoning has form. When Li Keqiang, now prime minister, was Communist Party chief of the province in the 2000s, he confided to America’s ambassador to China that its GDP figures were “man-made” and unreliable.
