Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 69, has been in Wales today with her husband Prince Charles.

The two started their trip yesterday where they visited the Second Severn Crossing, over the River Severn.

Since then they have been non-stop, but took an evening off from hectic work commitments this evening to enjoy a night in their Welsh home.

Staying at their home in Llandovery, Camilla and Charles attended an evening of music and drama.

Pictured during the evening the happy couple looked just as in love as ever, as they took a romantic stroll in the gardens of the home.

Camilla looked summery and elegant in an icy-blue midi dress that floated in the wind.

Her dress was fitted around the bust and sleeves, cinched in at the waist before flowing delicately down from the middle.

It featured a pleated detailing, adding to the summery feel of the outfit.

The dress was emblazoned with white floral patterns, appearing to be of wild flowers.

On her feet Camilla wore a simple pair of nude, court shoes with a tan-coloured block heel, £149 from Sole Bliss

Never seen without it, she wore her beloved stacked pearl necklace that’s held together with a silver brooch.

She matched the necklace with a delicate pair of pearl drop-down earrings, also typical of the Duchess.

Matching the icy blue dress, she also unusually accessorised with a blue and gold bracelet on her right wrist.

She carried what appeared to be a cream pashmina or scarf, possibly worn earlier by the 69-year-old.

Her blonde hair was perfectly blowdried and volumes as she strolled through the leafy gardens of the couple’s Welsh home with Charles.

The couple were hosting the evening that featured music and drama.

Earlier today Camilla was also spotted in a smilier shade of pale blue.

Joining her husband in Llangwm in west Wales, the royal was lucky enough to enjoy a day in the sunshine and dressed accordingly for the warm temperatures.

Prince Charles’ wife wore a simple blue dress which stopped at her knee and featured elbow-length sleeves.

She paired this with a heavy silver necklace and classic Ray Ban sunglasses.

The mum-of-two added a modern touch with the same Sole Bliss shoes she wore this evening.

The one-off late-night edition of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, which aired at the same time, had an average of 3.1 million viewers tuning in, with a 16.5 percent audience share.

Good Evening Britain peaked at 5.2 million, while Love Island, which saw 12 new singletons join the existing contestants, peaked at 3.6 million.

The programme, hosted by Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid and which included guests Danny Dyer and Jeremy Corbyn, was broadcast directly after the World Cup game between England and Belgium.

ITV’s coverage of the sporting event was watched by an average of 13 million viewers with a 62% audience share, with a five-minute peak of 18.6 million.

Morgan had previously expressed his hopes for his programme to beat Love Island, which he admittedly dislikes, in the ratings.

He celebrated Good Evening Britain’s trumping of Love Island’s peak numbers on Twitter, writing: “BOOM! Good Evening Britain peaked at 5.2m viewers last night, smashing Love Island which peaked at just 3.6m.

“Thanks for watching & restoring my faith in humanity!”

The industry standard is to measure the average number of viewers.

Wednesday’s edition of Love Island had already broken its own record to become the most-watched ITV2 programme ever, pulling in an average of three million viewers according to overnight ratings.

The figures for that episode were up by 1.3 million viewers on the equivalent episode last year.

Overnight ratings take into account those watching on catch-up channels ITV+1 and ITV2+1.

Nearly half of Americans plan to go shopping on Thanksgiving evening this year https://briefnews.eu/nearly-half-of-americans-plan-to-go-shopping-on-thanksgiving-evening-this-year/ https://briefnews.eu/nearly-half-of-americans-plan-to-go-shopping-on-thanksgiving-evening-this-year/#respond Sat, 11 Nov 2017 11:43:48 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/nearly-half-of-americans-plan-to-go-shopping-on-thanksgiving-evening-this-year/ With Thanksgiving a mere two weeks away, Americans across the country are gearing up for what comes right after — the prime holiday shopping season.

This year has seen the closure and downsizing of numerous brick-and-mortar retailers. But intriguingly, Americans appear to be more likely this year than in the past to shop on Thanksgiving evening and Black Friday — both important days for physical retailers. By contrast, as we can see in this chart from Statista, which is based on data from Nielsen, the proportion of US consumers who expect to shop on Cyber Monday — the big day for e-commerce companies — is more or less holding steady.

Of course there can be a difference between what consumers say and what they actually do. Their stated plans aside, online shopping has been gaining steam. Last year, for example, consumers shattered records by spending a whopping $ 3.45 billion on Cyber Monday.

Three-tiered salted caramel celebration cake

Serves 40 to 50

For the 15cm (6in) cake:

350g (12oz) butter, softened

350g (12oz) light brown sugar

6 eggs

2 tsps vanilla extract

350g (12oz) self-raising flour

For the 20cm (8in) cake:

700g (1lb 8oz) butter, softened

700g (1lb 8oz) light brown sugar

12 eggs

4 tsps vanilla extract

700g (1lb 8oz) self-raising flour

For the 25½cm (10in) cake:

900g (2lbs) butter, softened

900g (2lbs) light brown sugar

16 eggs

6 tsps vanilla extract

900g (2lbs) self-raising flour

For the salted caramel:

225g (8oz) butter

350g (12oz) soft dark brown sugar

1 tsp sea salt

250ml (8fl oz) double cream

For the salted caramel buttercream:

900g (2lbs) butter, softened

4 tbsps vanilla extract

1,800g (4lbs) icing sugar

4 tbsps milk

Half of the home-made salted caramel

To make the cakes:

1. Due to the large quantities of ingredients and oven time needed, you may find it necessary to make the cakes in stages.

2. Preheat the oven to 180ºc/fan 160ºc/350ºf/ gas mark 4. Grease two 15cm (6in), two 20½cm (8in) and two 25cm (10in) cake tins with butter and line the bases with parchment paper.

3. To make the 15cm cakes, put the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract into the bowl of a free-standing electric mixer (or you can use a handheld electric whisk and mixing bowl). Then sift in the flour, lifting your sieve quite high to incorporate air, and beat until the mixture is light and creamy.

4. Pour the mixture into the prepared tins and smooth with a palette knife or the back of the spoon.

5. While the cakes are baking, prepare the mixture for the 20½cm cakes using the same method and repeat for the 25cm cakes. bake in the oven until the cakes are well risen and a skewer inserted into the middle of them comes out clean. the 15cm cakes should take about 50 minutes, the 20½cm cakes about 60 minutes and the 25cm cakes need roughly 80 minutes.

6. Allow the cakes to cool in the tins for 5 minutes before turning them out on to a wire rack. Peel off the baking parchment and leave to cool completely.

7. When each cake has completely cooled, to ensure that they are level you may want to trim them with a knife and layer each of the cakes by slicing them in half horizontally.

To make the salted caramel:

1. Place the butter, sugar and salt in a saucepan and heat gently until melted and combined. Add the cream and stir until it has been fully incorporated. Allow the mixture to cool completely before adding to the buttercream.

To make the buttercream:

1. Put the butter in the bowl of a free-standing electric mixer and beat until it is soft and creamy.

2. Add the vanilla extract and gradually sift in the icing sugar and milk, beating until the mixture is light and creamy.

3. Add in half of the salted caramel and mix until it is fully incorporated.

To assemble the cake:

1. Put the first layer of your 15cm cakes on to a 30cm (12in) cake board. Spread a thin layer of salted caramel on each section of cake. follow with the buttercream, making sure that each layer of cake is lined up with the previous one so it remains stable and each tier looks straight. Repeat this process until every layer of your cake has been placed.

2. Fully cover each tier of cake with an even layer of buttercream. repeat this process with the other two tiers of the cake.

3. As you assemble your cake, place a thin cake board between each tier to make slicing easier and ensure greater stability.

4. Once your cake is fully assembled and covered in buttercream, decorate it with fresh flowers.
