But it has also been busy studying Jupiter’s moons, including capturing images of Io and Europa and capturing not only the sights but also the sounds of the moon Ganymede. Now Juno will get to see Europa in even more detail as it is set to perform a close flyby of the icy moon this week.

On Thursday, September 29, Juno will pass within 222 miles (358 kilometers) of Europa and should be able to capture some of the highest-ever resolution images of its surface, as well as gather data on its interior and the edge of its atmosphere. Europa is a particularly exciting place to study because it is thought to be one of the best places in the solar system for life to have evolved apart from Earth. It is getting its own mission called Europa Clipper to be launched in 2024.

Jupiter’s moon Europa.
This image of Jupiter’s moon Europa was taken by the JunoCam imager aboard NASA’s Juno spacecraft on Oct. 16, 2021, from a distance of about 51,000 miles (82,000 kilometers). Image data: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SwRI/MSSS. Image processing: Andrea Luck CC BY

“Europa is such an intriguing Jovian moon, it is the focus of its own future NASA mission,” said Juno Principal Investigator Scott Bolton of the Southwest Research Institute, in a statement. “We’re happy to provide data that may help the Europa Clipper team with mission planning, as well as provide new scientific insights into this icy world.”

Getting the spacecraft to pass so close to the moon while keeping it safe requires tremendous coordination. The maneuvers required to get close to Europa will change Juno’s orbit around Jupiter from a period of 43 days to 38 days. And the relative speeds are extremely fast, so the team will begin data collection one hour before the spacecraft’s closest approach to the moon.

“The relative velocity between spacecraft and moon will be 14.7 miles per second (23.6 kilometers per second), so we are screaming by pretty fast,” said John Bordi, Juno deputy mission manager at JPL. “All steps have to go like clockwork to successfully acquire our planned data, because soon after the flyby is complete, the spacecraft needs to be reoriented for our upcoming close approach of Jupiter, which happens only 7 ½ hours later.”

As it is so far from the sun, the surface of Europa is very cold and is covered in a thick layer of ice. But researchers believe there is a saltwater ocean beneath this crust, which could potentially support life. They know this because previous research has observed plumes of water being thrown up into the moon’s atmosphere. If we are very, very lucky, there is even a chance that Juno could catch such a plume to observe it in more detail.

“We have the right equipment to do the job, but to capture a plume will require a lot of luck,” said Bolton. “We have to be at the right place at just the right time, but if we are so fortunate, it’s a home run for sure.”

Chelsea football club have condemned a section of their own fans after they were heard making anti-Semitic chants during the team’s trip to Hungary to face MOL Vidi in the Europa League.

A small group among the estimated 1,200 Chelsea fans at the Groupama Arena in Budapest were reportedly heard chanting “Barcelona, Real Madrid, Tottenham are a bunch of Yids… Yiddos,” during the early stages of Thursday night’s match.

Chelsea issued a statement condemning the taunts as “abhorrent” and accusing the fans behind them of lacking “brainpower.”

“Anti-Semitism and any kind of racial or religious hatred is abhorrent to this club and the overwhelming majority of our fans,” a spokesman said.

“It has no place at Chelsea or in any of our communities.

“Any individuals that can’t summon the brainpower to comprehend this simple message and are found to have shamed the club by used using anti-Semitic or racist words or actions will face the strongest possible action from the club.”

It comes less than a week after a group of Chelsea fans were seen hurling abuse at Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling during a Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge.

One fan was allegedly filmed calling the England international a “f***ing black c***,” although the supporter himself has denied using those words.

Four fans were handed “indefinite bans” over that incident, which the Metropolitan Police are also investigating.

The Chelsea hierarchy are said to be furious at the latest blow to the club’s reputation in Budapest – not least because Russian owner Roman Abramovich is Jewish.

“It was a chant that Chelsea supporters have done in the past and it references Tottenham supporters using the ‘y’ word, the anti-Semitic derogatory word about Jewish people,” journalist Matt McGeehan told the BBC.

“I understand that Chelsea are angry from the top to the bottom of the club – the very top actually because owner Roman Abramovich is Jewish.

“They are furious. Not just that this has happened again to their club but because of the proximity to the incident last Saturday with Sterling.”

UEFA will await the referee’s report into Thursday’s match – which ended 2-2 – before deciding on taking any action.

In October, Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said the club were prepared to send racist fans on educational trips to the former Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz in Poland.

“If you just ban people, you will never change their behavior,” Buck said at the time. “This policy gives them the chance to realize what they have done, to make them want to behave better.”

Chelsea condemn anti-Semitic chants during Europa League clash – statement released https://briefnews.eu/chelsea-condemn-anti-semitic-chants-during-europa-league-clash-statement-released/ https://briefnews.eu/chelsea-condemn-anti-semitic-chants-during-europa-league-clash-statement-released/#respond Thu, 13 Dec 2018 22:42:28 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/chelsea-condemn-anti-semitic-chants-during-europa-league-clash-statement-released/

The events came on the back of Saturday’s incident at Stamford Bridge which saw England star Raheem Sterling abused during the 2-0 win.

Four fans were identified and suspended by the Blues who are likely to slap similar punishments on fans found guilty of any wrongdoing in Budapest.

Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police opened investigations last weekend after the Manchester City winger was the subject of alleged racial abuse by a section of the home support.

Not long after kick-off in Hungary on Thursday at the Groupama Arena a small minority of supporters were heard singing a derogatory chant about Tottenham supporters which contained anti-Semitic language.

Chelsea launched a campaign in January to raise awareness and educate about anti-Semitism in football and the club is disgusted at the latest incident.

A Chelsea spokesman on Thursday said: “Anti-Semitism and any other kind of race-related or religious hatred is abhorrent to this club and the overwhelming majority of our fans. It has no place at Chelsea or in any of our communities.

“We have stated this loud and clear on many occasions from the owner, the board, coaches and players.

“Any individuals that can’t summon the brainpower to comprehend this simple message and are found to have shamed the club by used using anti-Semitic or racist words or actions will face the strongest possible action from the club.”

Chelsea will be disappointed that a fine group stage campaign has been overshadowed by a small group of supporters letting the club down again.

Maurizio Sarri’s side made sure they remained unbeaten despite failing to maintain their 100 per cent record in Group L.

They took the lead in the first half through a stunning free-kick from Willian.

But the lead didn’t last long as the Hungarians hit back through an Ethan Ampadu own goal.

It was harsh on the young Welshman making his first European start.

Loic Nego then gave Vidi the lead in the second half.

Chelsea then hit back through Olivier Giroud, the French striker curling in another sublime free-kick.

The World Cup winner is not renowned for his set pieces but he staked a claim to take more in the future ahead of Willian and Marcos Alonso.

The Blues finished top of the pile and were joined by BATE Borisov in the Round of 32.

MOL Vidi vs Chelsea: Europa League score, goals and latest updates

MOL VIDI 0-0 CHELSEA

Vidi XI: Kovacsik, Vinicius, Fiola, Hadzic, Huszti, Nego, Nikolov, Stopira, Juhasz, Scepovic, Milanov.

Chelsea XI: Caballero, Zappacosta, Christensen, Ampadu, Emerson, Fabregas, Barkley, Loftus-Cheek, Willian, Morata, Hudson-Odoi

  • Maurizio Sarri makes TEN changes from Manchester City win

MOL VIDI 0-0 CHELSEA

25: Chelsea have had 78 percent of possession so far. Just the two shots off target though. A very relaxed approach from Maurizio Sarri’s side. I suppose It’s pretty difficult to go from the intensity of playing Manchester City to a meaningless away day in the Europa League.

22: Easy save for Willy Caballero as Nego capitalises on a loose pass from Callum Hudson-Odoi, spins and fires tamely.

19: There’s also an extraordinary transfer rumour going round about Alvaro Morata, who looks unmistakably miserable out there tonight.

The Spain striker’s agents are trying to engineer a move away from Stamford Bridge – and intermediaries have made contact with Barcelona about a possible move in January…

I don’t even know what to say about that. Good luck, Lionel.

16: A simply ENORMOUS goal in the battle of the abbreviated sides tonight. BATE, whose result Vidi must better tonight, have taken the lead against PAOK.

That all means that Vidi now must beat Chelsea to progress.

13: So what do we all think about the rumours surrounding Gary Cahill’s departure?

A quick ask around the office and everyone seems to agree that the veteran centre-back should be sold.

The Blues captain has played only 21 minutes in the Premier League season with new manager Maurizio Sarri deeming the 32-year-old not a fit for his passing style.

10: Ross Barkley should do better. Loftus-Cheek gets a flick on Willian’s corner but the former Everton star isn’t alert and the chance goes begging.

8: Freezing on the touchline tonight. I think It’s -1 in Budapest. Can someone send for a wooly Christmas hat for Maurizio?

5: Vidi won’t have too many chances tonight – so that makes Nikolov’s shanked effort all the more aggravating for the hosts. He’d made a few yards on Ampadu but slices it wide.

3: Good start? Kind of. Chelsea are total control with Willian winning an early corner that Vidi just about clear. Cesc Fabregas is being afforded plenty of space in midfield. Not the greatest tactical idea if you ask me…

MOL VIDI 0-0 CHELSEA

1: And we’re underway. I can just sense how excited you all are about this…

Snappy snap

17:54: Fabregas looks in a rush. The referee is trying to get the Chelsea midfielder to pause for photos and have a chat while flipping the coin – but Cesc just wants to get on with this.

Here they come…

17:50: And the players emerge from the tunnel to a foggy, damp and freezing night in Budapest – with plenty of empty seats. Still a hefty noise coming from the home supporters.

Not to play for

17:45: Inspiring interview from Sarri here. Maurizio Sarri says their Europa League game against MOL Vidi is a “difficult match to prepare for” with nothing on the line.

“We have three 2000-born players in the 18,” Sarri said. “It’s a very difficult match to prepare because we don’t have a material target.”

Lovely stuff.

Who’s qualified?

17:40: Ready for a big list of teams who have already qualified? Enjoy…

Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea, Dinamo Zagreb, Dynamo Kiev, Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, Lazio, Real Betis, RB Salzburg, Sporting Lisbon, Zenit, FC Zurich.

But there’s a few more. Eight more to be precise. Having finished third in their Champions League groups – these sides will join the Europa League party.

Benfica, Club Brugge, Galatasaray, Internazionale, Napoli, Shakhtar Donetsk, Valencia, Viktoria Plzen.

Quite like the look of Shakhtar Donetsk as a cheeky punt myself.

Twitter round-up

Dan: Great to see Ampadu starting tonight alongside CHO. 5 academy players in the squad. Sneaky wager on CHO to score Chelsea win.

Harry: Ampadu & Callum Hudson-Odoi start. Oh and for every goal celebration CHO will have in the future, I will make my profile picture. I’ve been a fan of this guy since he was tearing defences up as a youth under Jody Morris.

Hardly: I laugh when people when people mention Alvaro Morata and “striker” in the same sentence, perhaps in Real and partially in Juve, but NOT this one presently in Chelsea. He is the laziest striker I know in European football and he is NOT in the same category as Lukaku.

Sarri condemns abuse of Sterling

17:30: Maurizio Sarri has slammed the “disgusting” abuse aimed at Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police launched investigations into alleged racist abuse from a section of home supporters towards Manchester City’s Sterling in last Saturday’s 2-0 win for the Blues. Chelsea subsequently suspended four people in connection with the incident.

“It was disgusting,” said Sarri. “I condemn any form of discrimination.”

Elsewhere…

17:25: Rangers are also in action tonight – and there’s plenty at stake for Steven gerrard’s side.

Rangers must beat Rapid Vienna to make it out of the group, while Vienna will qualify if they win or draw.

They will finish top if they win and Villarreal do not, or if they draw and Villarreal lose due to their head-to-head superiority over Spartak Moscow.

English opponents

17:19: Vidi’s only previous home match with an English side is their most famous victory. A 1-0 win over Manchester United in March 1985 was followed by a 5-4 penalty shootout triumph in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. They went on to reach the final, losing to Real Madrid.

Manager

17:16: Serbian Marko Nikolic’s own playing career was cut short by injury. But the 39-year-old has performed well as a manager, first with Serbian side Rad. His reputation grew with Partizan and Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia before a second spell with Partizan. He won the Hungarian league title in his first season with Vidi.

Domestic duty

17:13: Vidi were Hungarian champions for a third time last season. They are currently second in the Hungarian First Division, eight points behind leaders Ferencvaros and three ahead of third placed Budapest Honved. Vidi lost 2-0 to fifth-placed Ujpest last Saturday.

Twitter round-up

Marcus: Ampadu gets his big chance, CHO gets another shot to impress, and RLC gets another shot to run the attack. Pumped for this match!

Jay: Ampadu and Christensen partnership at the back, RLC and CHO also starting, two other academy boys on the bench, oh what a day to be alive for Chelsea fans.

PG: Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho would never have done what Sarri has done with youth. I hope McEachran gets on later. Still, one good touch and some of our fans will start saying he’s the next Zidane.

We’ll give it large…

17:05: I may have paraphrased Vidi manager Marko Nikolic with that headline… but that’s essentially what he’s said.

He acknowledges their Europa League fate is out of their hands, but insisted his side would give their all against Chelsea.

“I feel that a point on Thursday would be something great,” he said. “I am sure that the players will go out onto the pitch with special motivation tomorrow.

“It will also be a full house. Their so-called ‘B team’ would be champions in several leagues around the world. I cannot guarantee the result but I have no doubt that we will all give our maximum against Chelsea.”

Michy…

17:00: Let’s take a moment to appreciate Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi, who helped Valencia secure a Champions League win over Manchester United yesterday.

Not content with Phil Jones’ hilarious own goal – Michy took to Twitter to rub salt in the wound.

Replying to a comment about his boots having the Batman symbol on the heel – Batshuayi commented on another funny Phil Jones face.

“Glad you like guys… but can we talk about Phil Jones face first #anotherone,” he wrote. Rinsed…

What’s at stake…

16:55: Chelsea are group winners and BATE Borisov will be through if they win or draw and Vidi do not win at home to Chelsea.

Vidi will be through if they pick up more points than BATE.

PAOK host BATE and will finish second if they win by two clear goals or more and Vidi lose by a two-goal margin or greater on a three-way head-to-head goal difference.

If Vidi lose by a single goal at home to Chelsea, PAOK will still finish second ahead of Vidi on goals scored providing they defeat BATE by two or more goals. But if PAOK win 1-0, BATE will finish ahead of Vidi on goals scored.

Not quite sure why I went into such depth about Vidi’s chances – but those Chelsea fans wishing the best for their opponents are now fully informed…

Ten changes…

16:50: Chelsea make 10 changes for tonight’s Europa League Group L clash with Vidi in Budapest.

Forward Willian was the only player to retain his place following last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Manchester City.

Alvaro Morata started up front, with Callum Hudson-Odoi the third forward, while Ethan Ampadu started in defence.

Starting XI…

16:45: And the line-ups have arrived folks. Maurizio Sarri does indeed rest most of his big names but there’s still more than enough fire-power in the squad to get the win.

Vidi XI: Kovacsik, Fiola, Juhasz, Vinicius, Stopira, Nego, Anel Hadzic, Nikolov, Milanov, Marko Scepovic, Huszti.

Subs: Tujvel, Kovacs, Berecz, Hodzic, Patkai, Tamas, Hangya.

Chelsea XI: Caballero, Zappacosta, Christensen, Ampadu, Emerson Palmieri, Barkley, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek, Willian, Morata, Hudson-Odoi.

Subs: Cumming, Alonso, Jorginho, Pedro, Giroud, Luiz, McEachran.

Afternoon…

16:40: Did anyone order a meaningless dead-rubber?

You’ll be thrilled to hear that it’s arrived in the shape of Mol Vidi vs Chelsea in Budapest…

Sorry I’m not overly enthusiastic but Chelsea have already qualified as group winners following five wins from five games.

I’m also low on enthusiasm because I returned from Barcelona this morning and It’s utterly freezing here…

Anyway, I’ve turned up – you’ve turned up – so let’s have those line-ups and get this ball rolling. Standby…

The Gunners beat Vorskla Poltava 3-0 to guarantee top spot in their group and had teenagers Emile Smith Rowe and Joe Willock to thank.

The pair lined up in a youthful side picked by Emery as Arsenal made light work of their opponents in Kiev.

It was Willock’s first senior goal for Arsenal with Smith Rowe netting his second goal in as many European starts.

Smith Rowe was delighted with the win and is determined to be involved for Unai Emery’s side.

He said: “My fingers and my toes are very cold, but you’ve just got to get on with it.

“It was a good win for us and a few lads got their debuts, so we’re just happy to get the win.

“Every cup we’re in we want to win. We’re improving in every game and I’m very happy to be involved.”

Smith Rowe also opened up on his goal in the freezing Kiev temperatures.

“I’m very happy but it’s more important that we won today,” he added.

“I was a bit shocked [about the disallowed goal] but because there wasn’t a lot of fans no one was celebrating.

“I thought it was offside as well, but it’s happened and I’m happy to just score anyway.”

It was Callum Hudson-Odoi who stole the headlines for Chelsea as they thumped PAOK Salonika 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The 18-year-old scored his first goal for the club after being handed an opportunity by Maurizio Sarri.

Hudson-Odoi was involved in everything good for the Blues as Olivier Giroud netted twice and Alvaro Morata came off the bench to score.

And Sarri praised the youngster following the win.

He said: “I think that he played very well but the type of match was for his characteristics.

“They had ten men after seven minutes, he is able to play in this and I want to see him when we have to play more in the defensive phase.

“The goal will give him confidence, like Giroud and Morata. I am very happy with this. Two strikers scored and that is very important.”

Hudson-Odoi revealed after the match what it meant to score his first goal for Chelsea.

“We got early goals which gave us the confidence that we needed, we are back to normal,” he said.

“I couldn’t believe I got the opportunity to start. Every time I got the ball I wanted to do my stuff. I couldn’t believe it when I scored, to see the crowd jumping was a dream.

“I will keep striving to play for my club. Hopefully more opportunities will come. I am always eager to play but it is the coach’s decision.

“I will celebrate tonight with my family.”

Chelsea return to action against Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday (12pm).

Arsenal face rivals Tottenham in the first north London derby of the season (2.05pm).

CHELSEA 2-0 BATE

20: In other news, Eden Hazard is inside the stadium tonight to watch his colleagues in action. I think he’s got a shoulder complaint but should be fit for Sunday’s clash with Burnley.

17: Hot knife through butter. BATE don’t appear to have travelled with any game plan or idea of what to expect. No pressing, pressure on the ball or ability keep the ball for more than 20 seconds.

14: Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored as many goals in the opening seven minutes and 48 seconds of this match tonight (2) as he had previously in 35 games for Chelsea (2).

12: Chelsea are just toying with BATE Borisov here. Pedro and Willian are stretching the visitors from left to right.

Pedro collects an attempted clearance after a well-worked move from Kovacic, but his curling strike takes a deflection and bounces wide.

CHELSEA 2-0 BATE | LOFTUS-CHEEK

9: Olivier Giroud spins away in celebration – but Ruben Loftus-Cheek got the final touch!

The Blues midfielder grabs his second of the evening when arriving inside the penalty area to divert Willian’s corner beyond the helpless Scherbitski.

Does this mean he’s scored more than Alvaro Morata this season? Superior conversation rate for sure!

6: Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s goal versus BATE Borisov came with his first shot on target for Chelsea in 2018-19 (in his fourth appearance).

5: BATE are probably fearing the worst after that early goal. They’ve responded quite well with Rios sending a dangerous cross in from the right. Arrizabalaga collects with authority.

CHELSEA 1-0 BATE | LOFTUS-CHEEK

2: Boom! Chelsea aren’t messing around tonight. They’ve made the breakthrough inside two minutes courtesy of England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

It’s a relatively simple goal with Davide Zappacosta weaving his way down the left touchline before squaring it to the unmarked Loftus-Cheek, who sticks it beyond the BATE goalkeeper with a clinical first-time finish.

1: Olivier Giroud might just fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet tonight. He struck twice against BATE for Arsenal in the Europa League last season. Could do with a goal to boost his confidence…

CHELSEA 0-0 BATE

1: Well the stupid timings of the Europa League clashes mean that we have absolutely ZERO time to build-up to this one at Stamford Bridge.

I guess all you really need to know is that Olivier Giroud leads the line for Maurizio Sarri’s side, that doesn’t include Eden Hazard because he’s out through injury.

Oh, and that pesky Marco Ianni who riled Jose Mourinho up with his celebrations is indeed on the touchline with his manager.

Footballer disappears into hole while celebrating Europa League goal (VIDEO) https://briefnews.eu/footballer-disappears-into-hole-while-celebrating-europa-league-goal-video/ https://briefnews.eu/footballer-disappears-into-hole-while-celebrating-europa-league-goal-video/#respond Fri, 21 Sep 2018 11:10:11 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/footballer-disappears-into-hole-while-celebrating-europa-league-goal-video/

FC Zurich midfielder Benjamin Kololli got more than he bargained for with his goal celebration in his team’s Europa League clash against AEK Larnaca in Cyprus, unexpectedly disappearing into a moat-like area around the pitch.

Kololli, who netted a penalty winner against the Cypriot side, rushed off towards the visitor fans section in celebration.

The 26-year-old skillfully negotiated the advertising hoardings and continued his approach to the fans, not realizing he was about to jump into a lowered area designed to prevent supporters from invading the pitch.

The midfielder disappeared from sight, prompting his worried teammates to run over to the advertising hoardings to check whether he was alright.

Several seconds later, the Kosovo international scrambled out of the moat in one piece, much to the relief of his watching teammates.

Kololli was able to continue the Group A match, which ended 1-0 to Zurich.

Europa League: Arsenal dominate, Chelsea and Celtic edge to victory, Rangers comeback https://briefnews.eu/europa-league-arsenal-dominate-chelsea-and-celtic-edge-to-victory-rangers-comeback/ https://briefnews.eu/europa-league-arsenal-dominate-chelsea-and-celtic-edge-to-victory-rangers-comeback/#respond Fri, 21 Sep 2018 04:00:33 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/europa-league-arsenal-dominate-chelsea-and-celtic-edge-to-victory-rangers-comeback/

The Champions League stole the headlines this week, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card the talking point.

The Juventus star was given his marching orders against Valencia, which left the 33-year-old in tears on his return to Spain.

Manchester United and Liverpool had successful European outings, while Manchester City and Tottenham were stunned by Lyon and Inter Milan respectively.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea were in action this evening, with the Premier League big boys earning crucial victories.

Arsenal brushed past Vorskla in a 4-2 domination at the Emirates, while Chelsea edged past PAOK in Greece.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s two goals either side of half-time rubber-stamped Unai Emery’s decision to take the Europa League a little bit more seriously than in previous years.

It was a slow start from the Gunners and the road may be a long one but winning this competition, as the Arsenal manager did with Sevilla three years in a row, may well be Arsenal’s best route back to the big time.

Because after a pulsating week of Champions League football, this pedestrian win against a hapless bunch of European minnows in front of a half-empty Emirates is definitely not the big time.

Speaking after Arsenal’s win, Aubameyang said: “I think we payed well in the first half and in the beginning of the second as well. We have to improve and try to fight not to concede a goal like we did in the last minute.

“I didn’t play the Europa League last year with the guys so I am really happy to be back in this competition. We want to go to the final of course.

“I hope we can do well in the next few games. We know the Premier League is long. We have to win these games straight away and perform quickly. It is good to start with a win.”

Maurizio Sarri had to settle for a tight 1-0 win against PAOK in the Europa League early kick-off.

However, the former Napoli boss insisted he was proud of his side for killing the game.

He said: “I am really very happy with the three points, very happy with the performance, but I am not very happy with the result. When it is time to kill the match we have to kill the match.”

However, Chelsea’s win was marred by Pedro’s injury late on.

The Spaniard seemed to dislocate his shoulder after a clash with PAOK goalkeeper Alexandros Paschalakis with a couple of minutes remaining.

Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers were also in action on Thursday night.

It was jubilation for Celtic as Leigh Griffiths netted an 87th minute winner against Rosenborg at Celtic Park, while Rangers came from behind twice at Villarreal.

Kyle Lafferty and Scott Arfield were on target for Steven Gerrard’s men in Spain.

And the Gers boss hailed Lafferty after picking up a crucial point away from home.

“Sometimes away from home in Europe when you’re playing up on your own it can be a thankless task,” Gerrard said.

“You can give in and get frustrated but I the control on Kyle’s finish and the way he used the speed of the cross was fantastic.

“I’m no expert on being a number nine – there’s one at the back, he will tell you – but he kept it low and used the pace to guide it in. It was a fabulous finish finish and one our man at the back will be very proud of.

“I know it’s the first goal for Kyle at this level but he has scored many international goals, which is obviously a very high level.”

A Sci-Fi Narrative And Precise Maneuvering Await In Ice Caves Of Europa https://briefnews.eu/a-sci-fi-narrative-and-precise-maneuvering-await-in-ice-caves-of-europa/ https://briefnews.eu/a-sci-fi-narrative-and-precise-maneuvering-await-in-ice-caves-of-europa/#respond Tue, 10 Jul 2018 08:43:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/a-sci-fi-narrative-and-precise-maneuvering-await-in-ice-caves-of-europa/ icecave.png

The Ice Caves of Europa may be dark frozen caverns deep beneath the moon’s surface but they’re not devoid of drama. In this new hybrid of drone simulator and story-driven adventure, your mining and exploratory expeditions of the titular caves are a backdrop for a larger narrative that touches on themes of identity and humanity.

As Verne, a AI-controlled Dragonfly drone, your mission starts in virtual training before reaching the frozen surface and subterran world of Europa, with a goal of collecting samples and searching for evidence of life. Navigation is your primary challenge here, as you manage two modes of flight, momentum and thrust to move through tight caverns and reposition without incurring damage or running into hazards while using your onboard tools like lasers.

However, while maneuvering and exploration are the central gameplay elements and objectives, what drive Ice Caves of Europa is a larger story revolving around a mysterious conspiracy and your Dragonfly’s own burgeoning AI interacting with the other AIs controlling drones and bases on Europa.

Ice Caves of Europa is available for $ 9.99 on Steam; for more details on the game and developer Io Normal, you can visit their site and Twitter page.
