Clearly having no idea his spouse was going to walk in, Dick asks his wife who she is talking to whilst she is carrying around the camera.

“It’s everyone,” Angel tells him, to which the father-of-our replies: “Oh, hello. You’re just coming in and pointing a camera at me.

“I’m about to get in here and be busy,” the castle owner tells his legion of fans, with Angel giving them a sneak peek inside the secret room.

“Sorry, do you want me to close the door?” the mother-of-two asks her other half, leaving him to get on with his project.

Escape to the Chateau’s Dick Strawbridge warned to ‘stop’ sharing intimate details https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-chateaus-dick-strawbridge-warned-to-stop-sharing-intimate-details/ https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-chateaus-dick-strawbridge-warned-to-stop-sharing-intimate-details/#respond Tue, 09 Feb 2021 22:46:34 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-chateaus-dick-strawbridge-warned-to-stop-sharing-intimate-details/

Dick, 61, and his wife Angel, 42, moved to France with their young children Arthur and Dorothy almost five years ago to begin a restoration project on a medieval castle. Escape to the Chateau viewers have seen the couple transform their new home from rags to riches on the Channel 4 programme and they have recently published a book about how they coped in the first year of their renovation. However, teasing their fans of what was included in the book, the mother-of-two had to warn her husband to stop talking about his undergarments – or lack of.

In a video published on the couple’s website, they are seen unpacking a box which contains one of the first editions of their book.

As Dick is seen opening up the parcel, he notices both his children are wearing t-shirts with the ACDC logo sprawled across the front.

Angel then joined in as she told her husband: “I’ve got it on my knickers,” to which the father-of-two explained he had gone “commando” so it “didn’t matter”.

With the conversation turning intimate in front of their children and fans, the Chateau owner warned her spouse not to reveal any more.

“Stop, stop! No more talking,” the mother-of-two declared, before turning the discussion back to the book.

Since the book was published in October last year, thousands of avid readers have got their hands on the couple’s renovation secrets.

The couple detail how they found their new home infested with flies and bats after moving from their two-bedroom flat in Essex in the midst of winter.

“Along the way, we’ll read glorious descriptions of rural life in France, with charming characters, delicious food and wonderful seasonal produce,” the synopsis reads.

“Together with the extraordinary list of renovations and restorations Dick and Angel completed, many of which were not shown on TV.”

Dick said of his wife Angel: “Angela is an alpha lady. We were introduced in 2010 by our shared agent — she is an entrepreneur and designer — who saw we were both efficient and organised, so well suited.

“Now we work and live together in France at Chateau de la Motte Husson, which we bought five years ago for £280,000.

“Renovation was hard work, but Angela learned fast and always looks gorgeous,” he said in a column for the Daily Mail.

The Chateau owner explained how his wife managed to knock down a wall to make two rooms into one and was climbing the scaffolding to get the job done.

At the end of the day, Dick described what he and Angel get up to once they’ve put their children to bed for the night.

As well as looking at their laptops for one final time, the couple share a glass of wine and talk about their day.

However, the father-of-two admitted his role as an engineer has led him to find a “solution to everything, everything except women.”

Escape to the Chateau is available to stream on All 4.

Escape to the Chateau: Dick and Angel Strawbridge speak out on ‘exciting’ news   https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-chateau-dick-and-angel-strawbridge-speak-out-on-exciting-news/ https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-chateau-dick-and-angel-strawbridge-speak-out-on-exciting-news/#respond Thu, 04 Feb 2021 15:31:18 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-chateau-dick-and-angel-strawbridge-speak-out-on-exciting-news/

Escape to the Chateau fans rejoice! The popular Channel 4 show which initially began by following Dick and Angel Strawbridge trade their two-bed apartment in Essex for a dilapidated 19th-century French chateau has become one of the channels top-rated shows. Six years since they took the plunge to transform their lives and start a new business venture, it seems the dynamic duo is not slowing down – in fact, they have secured a major two-year programming deal with the broadcaster.

Six years ago, Dick and Angel stumbled upon Chateau de la Motte Husson, a 45-room, five-story French castle which was in need of some tender loving care following years of neglect.

Initially, it wasn’t easy starting a new life and embarking on the mammoth project of restoring the property and it’s land, but with each series, Dick and Angel have had more and more success.

As a result, Escape to the Chateau has seen an average of 2.5million viewers tune in weekly to get their fix.

The latest series of the show was the best performing, reaching a whopping 3.1million viewers.

But UK viewers are not the only ones turning in, Escape to the Chateau is an international hit which has sold to 42 territories, including Australia, South Africa, Sweden, USA, Canada and China.

If viewers thought running a weddings and functions business from the Chateau wasn’t enough on top of re-establishing every room in the castle, Dick and Angel took on a spin-off series.

Escape to the Chateau DIY sees the husband and wife help other people who have decided to transform their lives and other historic buildings.

Following on from this, Channel 4 thought Angel and Dick had even more to offer, and Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend was created.

He said: “Angel and Dick are hugely popular as was seen by the reaction to Make, Do and Mend and the record-breaking figures for Escape to the Chateau at the end of 2020.

“They are jewels in the Channel 4 crown and it’s been an exhilarating ride helping them grow over the last 2 years.”

Lizi Wootton, Head of Popular Factual at Two Rivers, said there is a “huge opportunity” to grow the success of the Chateau brand on-screen even further.

Since the original concept was created back in 2014, Dick and Angel have been involved with every aspect of development and production.

“We are excited to be at the start of what we hope will be a long and successful relationship with Two Rivers, one of the most exciting indies in the UK sector at the moment,” Dick and Angel said.

“We first started working with Lizi when Escape to the Chateau was little more than an idea, so it’s terrific to be collaborating again on these series and growing our creative relationship.”

As for the plans Dick and Angel have for the Chateau, they said the house is always “evolving”.

“Things are being moved around to how they were always meant to be and we have endless outbuildings.”

But when everything is done around the property, will they consider taking on a new project?

“I’ve got no intention of going anywhere,” Dick told Hello! magazine. “I’m going to be planted here. I get a headache even thinking about moving.”

Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on 4oD.

The Neighborhood Sneak Peek: Calvin Underestimates Escape Room Scares https://briefnews.eu/the-neighborhood-sneak-peek-calvin-underestimates-escape-room-scares/ https://briefnews.eu/the-neighborhood-sneak-peek-calvin-underestimates-escape-room-scares/#respond Wed, 30 Dec 2020 09:55:32 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-neighborhood-sneak-peek-calvin-underestimates-escape-room-scares/

Dave finally gets his wish when Calvin accompanies him to an escape room during The Neighborhood‘s Jan. 4 episode (CBS, 8/7c) — and TVLine has your exclusive first look.

In the above clip, we follow Dave and his reluctant BFF into the interactive game, as their kooky host warns of the horrors ahead. Calvin, who’s convinced the experience will be lame, is immediately rattled when the lights go out and a ghoulish voice welcomes them to his bloodied “little playroom.”

Neighborhood diehards may recall a time or two where Dave has said that he’d love to bring Calvin to an escape room. “I don’t think it’s anything that viewers have ever focused on,” Max Greenfield previously told TVLine. “The writers thought it was a really funny pitch, then it turned into part of an episode.”

Dave and Calvin’s fright night coincides with the return of Gemma’s troublemaking sister Brittany (recurring guest star Deborah Baker Jr.), who claims she’s turned over a new leaf since we last saw her in Season 2. “Brittany [has] turned her life around and started her own business, and we’re going to see how that plays out,” showrunner Jim Reynolds shared. “Dave’s still going to be skeptical [of her]. Gemma will be, too.”

The Neighborhood‘s winter premiere will be followed by fresh episodes of Bob Hearts Abishola, All Rise and Bull, all of which return after a brief holiday break.

Press PLAY on the video above, then hit the comments and let us know if you’re looking forward to Calvin and Dave’s escape room adventure.

Money Heist plot hole: Fans insist the gang has no time to escape the Bank in part five https://briefnews.eu/money-heist-plot-hole-fans-insist-the-gang-has-no-time-to-escape-the-bank-in-part-five/ https://briefnews.eu/money-heist-plot-hole-fans-insist-the-gang-has-no-time-to-escape-the-bank-in-part-five/#respond Wed, 30 Dec 2020 01:26:02 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/money-heist-plot-hole-fans-insist-the-gang-has-no-time-to-escape-the-bank-in-part-five/

Moreover, there’s still the question of some 90 tonnes of gold to be smuggled out along with the surviving crew.

Production is currently underway in Milan, but viewers have already raised their concerns about whether showrunner Álex Pina will be able to deliver the goods in Part Five.

One fan took to Reddit to speculate if the Professor actually has contingencies in place to spring his team from the Bank of Spain, or if he’s been making things up as he goes along.

Redditor purplerainbowsrule posted: “So many characters in Parts 3 and 4 have said that melting the 90 tons of gold is the only way the team are going to escape the bank, but what is the importance of this?”

Escape to the Country’s Nicki Chapman slams buyer’s mistake ‘Be realistic!’ https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-countrys-nicki-chapman-slams-buyers-mistake-be-realistic/ https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-countrys-nicki-chapman-slams-buyers-mistake-be-realistic/#respond Fri, 20 Nov 2020 15:29:03 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/escape-to-the-countrys-nicki-chapman-slams-buyers-mistake-be-realistic/

Since 2009, Nicki Chapman has been presenting Escape to the Country. Earlier today, she joined Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones on BBC One’s Morning Live where she discussed the biggest mistakes potential buyers make when they choose to move from the city to the country.

Kym asked: “So many people are considering escaping that hustle and bustle – but is it all it’s cracked up to be?”

“We’ve seen a surge of people reassessing the way they live their live – individuals, couples, families, retirees, thinking ‘you know what? I can work from home, I perhaps don’t need to commute anymore or live in a congested town or city’ and reevaluating that,” Nicki explained.

“We’re all looking at our mental health, the importance of being out in your garden.

“And that goes for property, where you live, what’s around you, the community is so important.

“So in answer to your question, yes, people really are rethinking about where they live,” the presenter continued.

Gethin added: “Rethinking is one thing, actually doing it is a really big deal.

“What are the biggest mistakes people make when they try to escape to the country?”

“I think you need to work out what is you want; if you’re flat sharing with three other people and you’re working on a laptop on your lap on a tray every single day, you’re thinking ‘I can’t do this for much longer’ and that’s been the situation for so many people,” Nicki continued.

“It might be services, busses, where the nearest hospital is, can you make doctor’s appointments easily, is there a good school?

“So look at those things, it is a dream and it is a fantastic dream for so many people, but be realistic because is this your forever home or is it for the next five years?”

This afternoon, Nicki catches up with two sets of buyers.

First, she heads to the Welsh Borders for a reunion with a couple who managed to buy their first home in 2017.

Coronation Street spoilers: Yasmeen Nazir to escape Geoff’s control as justice served? https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-yasmeen-nazir-to-escape-geoffs-control-as-justice-served/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-yasmeen-nazir-to-escape-geoffs-control-as-justice-served/#respond Fri, 17 Jan 2020 22:15:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-yasmeen-nazir-to-escape-geoffs-control-as-justice-served/

At the end of last year, Geoff Metcalfe (played by Ian Bartholomew) and Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) returned to the cobbles announcing they had got married in Las Vegas. Since then, Geoff’s grip of Yasmeen’s life has increased dramatically, leaving ITV soap fans calling for Coronation Street bosses to cancel the storyline.

The evil Geoff hit new lows this week as he took Yasmeen’s credit cards a way in a new ploy to keep her from going out with her friends.

But Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill) is starting to get suspicious because Yasmeen keeps cancelling their plans telling her that she needs to clean the house again.

Last week saw Cathy tell Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) that she was going to confront Yasmeen if she kept cancelling.

What she didn’t know was that Geoff had got angry when Yasmeen said who she wanted to see, making her feel guilty for not staying at home with him.

Taking Yasmeen’s cards is just another way Geoff is trying to control his wife, but it seems he might be about to be exposed for his months of abuse.

Coronation Street boss, Ian MacLeod told RadioTimes.com: “The imprisonment is sometimes more literal, with the abuser controlling their partner’s access to money, when they leave the house and who they see – even what and when they eat.

“We will be exploring all these aspects of this complex and important social issue in coming episodes, as Geoff’s strangle-hold on Yasmeen tightens”.

“Controlling behaviour is a spectrum and I really hope that, at the less insidious end, the storyline will have a positive effect on viewers’ attitudes to their loved-ones.”

After all, Geoff might have an abusive side, but the reason he is currently getting away with it is because he is good at convincing her that he is only doing it out of love.

Ian Bartholemew recently admitted: “He (Geoff) has convinced himself that this is possibly his last chance, if he doesn’t get this right he wouldn’t know what to do, he can’t bear to be on his own, he can’t bear not to be loved.

“It is as much being loved as it is loving. He loves the idea of being in love, he doesn’t know what it is or how to do it but he wants to love and be loved. Geoff is desperate to be loved.

“We don’t know much about Geoff’s previous relationship but I am sure this is not the first time he has behaved like this in a relationship, because of that need to be loved, that need to be in control.”

Can Cathy show Yasmeen what her husband has really been doing or is she about to lose her friend for good to an abuser?

Viewers have since been calling for the bosses at Coronation Street to cancel the storyline altogether, one tweeted: ““This storyline with Geoff needs to end, it’s actually unbearable to watch!! Poor Yasmeen, someone kill him! #Corrie.”

“When is this Geoff abusing Yasmeen storyline coming to an end! It’s awful!!! #Corrie.” said another.

One claimed: “Horrible watching that bully bastard Geoff with Yasmeen. Makes me cringe #coronationstreet.”

But how will the story end? Will Geoff become the victim in all of this when Yasmeen realises the horror house she has been living in?

If you need help or support regarding domestic abuse you can call Centre Point on 0800 587 5158.

The Mandalorian Recap: The Not-Great Escape https://briefnews.eu/the-mandalorian-recap-the-not-great-escape/ https://briefnews.eu/the-mandalorian-recap-the-not-great-escape/#respond Fri, 13 Dec 2019 13:52:06 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-mandalorian-recap-the-not-great-escape/

RELATED STORIES

Having heretofore channeled spaghetti westerns and samurai movies, Disney+’s The Mandalorian this Friday took a stab at the prison break genre — only to leave us feeling locked up, alongside a bunch of cosmic boors.

The most guest star-heavy episode to date, “The Prisoner” saddled our hero with several different flavors of jerkwad, as he fell back on an old habit — merc work — in order to get some bread. A former associate named Ran (Sons of Anarchy‘s Mark Boone Jr) welcomed Mando back into the unseemly fold, to help spring a pal who got nabbed by some rivals. But after being introduced to the rest of the crew — Mayfeld, a former Imperial sharpshooter (F Is for Family‘s Bill Burr); Burg, the Devaronian muscle (Emergence‘s Clancy Brown); Xi’an, a blade-wielding and, ugh, scenery-chewing Twi’lek (Game of Thrones‘ Natalia Tena); and Zero, a cocky droid (The IT Crowd‘s Richard Ayoade) — Mando realized that they needed his Razor Crest to sneak up on a New Republic prison ship, which is allegedly manned only by droids.

What followed was nothing particularly clever or the slightest bit fun, but instead was drab and patience-testing, as Mayfeld & Co. taunted the Mandalorian about his code, helmet and true identity (though that did tee up a solid Gungan dis), before they accidentally discovered his unusual cargo — the Child. Mayfeld’s handling of the “pet” made Mando (and us!) a bit anxious, but luckily it was cut short by the ship’s rough docking with the prison ship.

Mandalorian Recap 1x06Breaching the vessel, Mando exceeded his crew’s cynical expectations by making mincemeat of a small horde of guard droids. Things got dicey, however, upon storming the control room (one of the series’ flimsier-looking sets), where they encountered a human New Republic soldier (hey, Timeless‘  Matt Lanter!) who threatened to trigger a distress beacon. Mayfeld was rarin’ to shoot dead the threat, but Mando wanted no part of cold-blooded bloodshed. The stalemate between Mando, Mayfeld and Burg was ended by the zing of Xi’an’s blade, across the room and into the soldier’s belly. But not before he activated the beacon.

The group quickly found and sprung their target — Xi’an’s brother Qin (Berlin Station‘s Ismael Cruz-Córdova), who is no fan of “the man who left me behind” in the first place, aka the Mandalorian. And on that note, Burg shoved Mando into the vacated cell, locking it behind him. Not one to so easily be bested, Mando lassoed and laid waste to a guard droid, using its ripped appendage to unlock the cell. We then switched into sci-fi horror mode, as Mando carefully stalked those who betrayed him, one by one, first by nearly crushing Burg inside a sliding door, and then besting both Xi’an and Mayfeld.

Meanwhile aboard the Razor Crest, Zero spied the Child and grabbed a rifle to hunt the elusive oddity. Once Zero tracked down the kid, Baby Yoda started to use Force magic, soon after which the droid exploded! But the (relieved) Child and we then realized Mando had blasted the ‘bot from behind.

Mando delivered Qin to Ran and collected his payday. But when he flew away in the Razor Crest, Ran issued an order for the Mandalorian to be killed. A gunship readied for takeoff from the space station, just as Qin realized that Mando had placed the distress alert beacon on him. Meaning, the New Republic X-wings dropping out of hyperspace at that second were coming after him, bombarding the bay with laser blasts.  Meanwhile, now in hyperspace themselves, Mando said to the Child, “I told you that [taking merc work] was a bad idea,” while we see that back on the prison ship, he had merely locked up Mayfeld and the others.

What did you think about Episode 6, “The Prisoner”?

Emmerdale spoilers: Aaron Dingle devastated as prison escape plan fails? https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-aaron-dingle-devastated-as-prison-escape-plan-fails/ https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-aaron-dingle-devastated-as-prison-escape-plan-fails/#respond Sat, 19 Oct 2019 01:53:52 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-aaron-dingle-devastated-as-prison-escape-plan-fails/

Emmerdale fans were left in tears after the pair were forced to part ways in Thursday’s double bill, after it emerged Robert (played by Ryan Hawley) had handed himself into the police. Things are set to get worse as Robert will appear in court next week, as he faces a charge of murder.

It was Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) who alerted the pair that they were in trouble earlier this week.

While in hospital, she saw her rapist Lee Posner’s (Kris Mochie) mother Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) told her son had passed away.

It soon emerged this was a direct result of Robert’s attack on him, which led to him charged for GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm), meaning he now could face a charge for murder.

As the pair left on the run, a blunder from Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) led them straight to the cottage in which Aaron and Robert had been hiding in before they hatched their plan to go abroad.

READ MORE: Emmerdale spoilers: Chas Dingle plans Robert Sugden escape?

Although Chas pretended she was in labour, the police quickly saw Paddy’s SatNav giving a location to where the duo would be.

Robert handed himself in to save Aaron from a life on the run, leaving his partner distraught as he watched him drive off in a police car.

In last night’s episode, Aaron was left heartbroken as he realised his husband could be gone for good, after their plans for the future were ruined.

At the end of the episode, he was seen taking a call to an unidentified person pleading him to hatch a plan for Robert’s escape.

Chas and the rest of the Dingle’s will be left concerned about how Aaron will cope with the reality of losing his husband.

Lucy Pargeter said: “She’s worried about his state of mind, she’s worried about what could happen to Aaron, as in his self harming or his depression or going off the rails, that’s always in the background.

“She’s offered her help, she’s tried to be strong and said right get over him you need to move forward and try to be there for him, so she’s quite concerned about his mental state.”

With it yet to be confirmed when Robert’s last episode will air, viewers are still hoping there might be a happy ending for the pair.

This week, as Robert will appear in court, will he end up giving a guilty plea, or will he have other plans?

Perhaps there is still time for Aaron’s plan to get him out of prison to work, but he is quickly running out of time.

Who is Aaron trying to get a favour from, and will they follow through on his call for help?

Emmerdale continues on Monday at 7pm on ITV.

The user began: “Realistically, if her case goes to trial, what proof does the ICC have that she coerced Nick and June into having sex?

“How can they prove sexual slavery when there is no Nick and no June to testify, and when Luke has a tape where June says Holly was born out of love?”

Could June’s absence help aid Serena’s escape?
