Meghan Markle, 37, embarked on her first solo engagement as a royal this evening. The event is a milestone in Meghan’s life as a member of the monarchy, as she will be venturing out without the support of Harry or other royals. Attending the Royal Academy of Arts, the stunning Duchess wore a slinky black Givenchy dress. The event was the opening of an exhibition of works from the Oceania region, at the Royal Academy of Arts in central London. For the occasion, Meghan wore a slinky black Givenchy gown which retails at a staggering £2,200. The dress featured a high neck and velvet panelling, cut into a deep v-shape around her bust. Protecting her from the evening chill, the dress had long sleeves made in a sheer material, clasped in at the wrist. Cinching her in at the waist and showing off her enviable figure, the dress had a black belt with a classic gold clasp. Adding a sexier feel to the otherwise demure frock, the dress featured a slit running up the middle, showing off Meghan’s slender legs. On her feet, the Duchess stuck to one of her favourite shoe brands, wearing a £490 pair of Aquazurra black heels. The elegant shoes had dainty ribbon detailing behind the heel and an open, sling-back. Hiking up the staggering cost of the outfit, the 37-year-old held a £1390 Givenchy clutch bag. Understated and elegant, the clutch was in black and gold, perfectly matching Meghan’s evening wear. She wore her long brunette hair straightened and down, hanging loosely around her shoulders. A fan of more natural makeup, the Duchess wore a rose pink lip, some pink shimmery highlighter and a brown smokey eye. No doubt taking the outfit’s cost into the tens, if not hundreds, of thousands, Meghan also wore a sparkling pair of drop-down diamond earrings. The former actress has developed a bit of a colour theme recently, wearing black or dark colours to most of her royal engagements. Yesterday she wore a deep purple trouser and blouse combination for a visit to Loughborough University. This time with Prince Harry by her side, she wore a navy Oscar de la Renta Blouse, costing £1,636 from the AW19 collection, She matched the blouse with her Altuzarra trousers, costing £295 which she has been spotted in before. Who is Meghan Markle? Quick profile Meghan Markle was born Rachel Meghan Markle, on August 4, 1981 to parents Doria Ragland and father Thomas Markle. Her father was previously married to Roslyn Loveless and Meghan has two elder half sibling – sister Samantha Markle and brother Thomas Markle Junior. Actress Meghan’s first television appearance in the USA was in an episode of the medical drama General Hospital in 2002. She later moved on to roles in CSI, Without a Trace and Castle along with bit parts in Hollywood films including Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses. Meghan was also a “briefcase girl” on Deal or No Deal – but her most famous role was as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, which launched in 2011. She was written out in the finale of the seventh series when her character got married, which aired in April 2018 – just before she got married herself. Charity and humanitarian work Meghan Markle’s career in television has gone hand-in-hand with her support for causes close to her heart. She wrote about the stigma around menstrual health in an article for Time magazine and was a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada – with whom she travelled to Rwanda for the charity’s Clean Water Campaign. And her commitment to gender equality has seen her work with the United Nations – receiving a standing ovation in 2015 for her speech to mark International Women’s Day. Relationships In September 2011, she wed film producer Trevor Engelson, who she began dating in 2004. But the pair divorced two years later in August 2013, citing irreconcilable difference. She was in a relationship with celebrity chef Cory Vitiello for almost two years, before they broke it off in 2016 but the two remain good friends. And in June 2016, she met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. Their relationship began in October that year and just over one year later, on November 27, 2017, the pair announced their engagement. They married on May 19, 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Meghan’s heritage Some have claimed Meghan Markle is the first mixed-race member of the Royal Family. Historians are still arguing about Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III. But Meghan will be the first royal to openly embrace a mixed-race heritage. She has written about the difficulties of being a biracial actress in Hollywood as she claims she is not black enough for some roles and not white enough for others. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have been together for eight years. The couple announced their engagement in January, shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed they would get married. Both Eugenie and Harry are grandchildren of the Queen, and so will have lavish royal weddings. But what can the body language of both couples in their engagement interviews tell us about their romances? Despite being the youngest royal couple to become engaged recently, this pair are most traditional. Judi said: “Eugenie & Jack presented as the most traditionally royal couple of the three, as opposed to the ‘sofa chemistry’ body language appearances of both Andrew & Fergie and Harry and Meghan.” However, the pair are in the “rather bashful early stages of love.” Judi said: “Jack in particular wore kind of the rounded and raised cheeks that signal genuine happiness and at times his cheeks even turned pink to show shyness too. “Eugenie’s rather husky, sexy voice and her more assured body language suggests she will be the more powerful partner although she used several lowering signals to make her fiancé feel more dominant.” Judi claimed Meghan and Harry in comparison are “more A list Hollywood.” Their sitting position makes their interview far less formal that Eugenie’s and Jack’s. Judi said: “Being seated always suggests more leisurely and revealing discussion in a chat show format and we got just that from Harry and Meghan whose signals of sophisticated sexuality teamed with Meghan’s confidence and eloquence pitched them as more A list Hollywood than reserved royals. “Meghan took over the questions with ease while Harry looked besotted and her body language responses to her husband-to-be ranged from devastatingly flirtatious to quasi-maternal, with some glances and strokes of reassurance and encouragement for Harry. “Harry and Meghan’s mirroring was less intense though as they knew one another for less time than Eugenie and Jack’s seven year stint as a couple in love.” Princess Eugenie’s wedding will cost the tax payer a certain sum, but do you know how much? The wedding was initially reported to be low-key, with no obligations to invite certain guests and no carriage ride or big procession. However, it is slowly getting more lavish, with it now set to cost the taxpayer around £2 million. Meghan Markle was recently snubbed at an American TV awards show. Meghan was nominated for the Choice Style Icon award.

The photographer added: “I think one of Meghan’s friends saw me on Instagram that I was in England during the announcement of the engagement and I was told later that this person said to her, ‘You should meet Alexi. He’s great. You’d love him’ and that was it.”
He has described the handsome could as “deliciously in love” which he claims made the job “one of the easiest, most joyful jobs.”

However, it is unlikely Meghan needed much direction, as the Hollywood-born actress has appeared on many sexy shoots before.
Meghan Markle’s engagement dress was phenomenally expensive.
The stunning actress wore a £56,000 by British fashion brand Ralph & Russo – who are also tipped to make her wedding dress.
The sexy sheer dress covered the actress’s modesty with gold vine details on black see-through fabric.

Floris describe the perfume as “a vivacious combination of orange blossom with a hint of vanilla which lends a smooth character and creaminess to complement the initial sparkle”.
Meghan was well known to love Italy, naming her now-defunct blog The Tig after an Italian wine.
It remains unclear if Alex and Jo will finally tie the knot before Grey’s Anatomy’s current season wraps, but this much we know for sure: The star-crossed lovers were at the very least supposed to have an engagement party.
The festive sequence in question — photos from which made their way onto the Internet early Friday — was to have been included in this week’s episode. However, a source close to the show tells TVLine that the scene was cut “for time.” The insider also notes that a decision about relocating the sequence into one of Season 14’s remaining episodes is TBD.
If the engagement party fails to see the light of day, at least we’ll always have the images. Scroll through the attached gallery — or click here for direct access —and then hit the comments with your thoughts.

Meghan Markle, 36, is the very successful American woman who will be marrying into the British Royal Family in a few months time.
She has starred as Rachel Zane on legal drama Suits, and according to reports amassed a personal net worth of £5 million.
The actress also has a keen interest in charity work, and had various roles promoting worthy causes across the globe.
The former student of Northwestern University in Illinois studied theatre and international studies, and took on an internship at the US embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, age 20.
She worked as a freelance calligrapher to boot. However, before her relationship with Harry became serious Meghan also had a side career that may have made her large sums of money.
Meghan ran a successful blog, The Tig, for almost three years.
The lifestyle website aimed to offer inspirational advice to young women.
Meghan closed the website shortly after her relationship with Prince Harry became public, and she wrote a heartfelt final post to readers in April 2017.
The actress said: “After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig.
“What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity.
“You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’”
The title of the blog stood for ‘The Inspired Lifestyle’.
Amanda Dishaw, editorial director of Vancouver-based lifestyle fashion publisher Effervescence Media, told the BBC: “She was definitely making money off the affiliate marketing on the website: for example, she would have her friend Jessica Mulroney come on to talk about current fashion trends, and then the site would recommend certain pieces of clothing with links to where you could buy the items.”
It is not known whether Meghan used her high successful social media platforms to make money, however, she would have stood to make large sums if she had.
According to Business Insider, Instagram users with over 100,000 followers could charge over £350 per post.
Considering Meghan’s huge following of 3 million users on the social media platform and celebrity influence, it is likely she could have commanded far more.
Forbes calculated that users in the 3m to 5m follower bracket could command up to £35,000 per post.
Now Meghan Markle is turning her hand to royal life, she is reportedly doing this to make friends with Kate Middleton.
Meghan Markle, 36, stepped out in green today as she made her first official visit to Belfast with Prince Harry, 33.
Looking sleek, the young royal wore a green skirt, from Canadian designer Greta Constantine, the colour a subtle nod to the Northern Ireland location.
She paired this with the cream Victoria Beckham jumper last seen in her engagement photos tucked in to the skirt, and a beige wool coat by Mackage worn open over her outfit.
Meghan completed the look with a pair of brown velvet court Manolo Blahnik shoes and a small brown leather handbag from British brand Charlotte Elizabeth. The company is supported by Prince Charles’ charity, The Prince’s Trust.
She wore her hair in a sleek updo with a centre parting, some strands of hair blowing in the breeze.
As is the custom for royal women, Meghan kept her makeup simple, choosing nude lips and lashings of mascara to accentuate her eyes.
Harry looked relaxed in black trousers, a grey blazer with a blue jumper worn over a white shirt.
The couple have landed in Belfast and are heading to meet young activists at the Eikon Centre, on the site of the former Maze Prison.
Meghan and Harry are also on a royal walkabout outside the Crown Liquor Saloon in the Norhern Ireland capital.
They will meet young entrepreneurs and then head to the Titanic Museum.
The visit was kept as a surprise, and not announced in the media beforehand.
It is the latest in a round of tours the couple are undertaking ahead of their wedding in May, giving Meghan the chance to get to know the UK better.
They have also visited Brixton, south London, Nottingham and Cardiff.
Invites to the Royal Wedding were revealed yesterday, with Kensington Palace announcing 200 people will be invited to the evening reception at Frogmore House.
The wedding cake baker was also announced this week, with Claire Ptak making a lemon elderflower cake decorated with fresh flowers.
Meghan had previously feature Ptak on her now-defunct blog The Tig.
Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, have wowed the public with their romantic transatlantic love.
The couple posed in front of Kensington Palace for a photo-call on 27 November after their engagement was announced on Twitter.
Much was made of Meghan Markle’s engagement ring, which it was revealed was made with diamonds from Princess Diana’s private collection and a huge central stone from Botswana.
Now an expert has revealed what Meghan Markle’s engagement ring says about her.
A representative from Goldsmiths, a British jeweller, said: “An engagement ring is a symbol of eternal commitment; however choosing the dream ring can be a daunting process.
“It’s essential that it is not only the perfect fit in size but also the right style for you or the person you intend on asking to share your life with.”
Meghan’s makes her “strong minded”, according to the company which has produced engagement rings since 1778.
Goldsmiths said of a woman with a multi-stone ring: “She considers herself to be a strong-minded, fashionable woman and a modern romantic at heart so she’ll be keen to have something a little different on her finger.
“The multi-stone ring uses a state-of-the-art diamond setting technique to create a larger visual appearance and one of a full stone creating a high impact design and sparkling statement.
“The possibilities and shapes vary so the wearer can find a one-of-a-kind look to suit her contemporary taste.”
What is Meghan Markle’s engagement ring worth?
Cheaper versions are already available on the British high street. Argos has a version for £33, while QVC are selling a version for only £22.50.
Meghan Markle’s engagement ring is the best of a number of Royal Family engagement rings according to a new study by William May.
Britons prefer Meghan’s ring, which has three sparkling clear diamonds on a gold band, to Kate Middleton’s and Princess Eugenie’s.
Online jewellery retailer, William May, has conducted a survey of 2,250 Britons, and almost half thought the ring was the best at 49.3 per cent.
Only 35 per cent chose Kate Middleton’s sapphire, which once belonged to Princess Diana, as their favourite.
While overall both men and women preferred Meghan’s engagement ring, when it came to second best, the survey showed that they do have different taste.
Women preferred the look of Kate and Princess Diana’s engagement rings second best, whereas men favoured Princess Eugenie’s pink ring.
The study found that the average man is prepared to spend £1,471.01 on a ring to impress their future fiancé.
Unfortunately, the average woman expects their lover to drop £1,854.17 on their ring.
How much is Meghan Markle’s engagement ring worth?
It may be worth around £50,000. Sophie Lomax of 77Diamonds.com said: “With two round diamonds supporting what looks like a 2.5 carat cushion cut diamond, the stones are set in white gold with the main band of the ring in yellow gold.
“A ring of this size and quality would generally start at around £50,000.”
Little is known about Meghan’s first engagement ring, as the actress was an unknown then, having done very little work.
She was given the ring by her former husband Trevor Engelson.
